So, I have got speedy fiber internet here now and I was keen to see how it slays on my Note Pro, however, it didn't really blown me away, since I was stating around 60-80mbps speed only. My connection is 450mbps MAX on WiFi, so I think it is theoretic speed of my wifi router, so well, something like 200mbps could be possible to achieve.
So, how speedy is WIFI of Note Pro? Any ways to make it even faster?
Anyone?
Note Pro's WiFi is documented to be AC, so it should be able to push a lot...
Well, even with the best circumstances, you're never likely to see 200Mb/s, let alone 450Mb/s. There are a lot of factors that explain why you'll never get close to theoretical advertised speeds. Overhead, interference, distance, duplex, access point performance, band, etc. Or yeah, the tablet could always be the bottleneck.
I assume you have an AC router? But are you also on 5GHz or 2.4? That can make a huge difference. How far from the AP are you? Have you tried changing channels?
I don't yet use AC, just N and 5ghz. With my laptop, 1m from router I am hitting close to 180mbps,, with tablet - the same 70-90mbps, twice less...

weird, my router is also N stanard, but I can't reach 100mbps
There are different types of N. N150, N300, N450 it all depends how many antennas are used. (MIMO)
Try a different 5ghz channel on your router.

With laptop I can push 200mbps, so it is not the router who isn't capable....
Which 5ghz channel are you on?

I just got my NP12 yesterday. I am using Netgear R7000. My link speed is 600mbps to low 700mbps. The most I got from N10 2014 is 433mpbs. That is becuase it is single antanna compare to dual antanna on NP12.

I recently picked up a NS4G as my first Sprint phone. I haven't been thrilled with reception including wifi. I had a chance to test wifi today and was pretty surprised. I tested wifi at a friend's house vs an iPhone and iPad. Using Speedtest.net app on all the difference was ridiculous. Using a laptop along with them for good measure these are the results.
Nexus S 6Mbps/d 4Mbps up
Laptop on speedtest site 20Mbps/d 13Mbps up
iPad 19Mbps/d 12 up
iPhone 4 pretty much same as iPad.
How can the difference be so huge? I never see more than 2 bars (usually 1) of 3g signal and many times my wifi signal drops even though I'm only a few feet away from the router.
Anyone else done similar tests?
This is what I get on my 8Mbps/1Mbps connection:
Nexus One 6.0/1.0/15ms
Nexus S 7.5/1.0/8ms
iPhone4 7.3/0.9/33ms
MacBook 7.7/0.7/5ms
All in the same ballpark I would say.
I wouldn't compare the number of bars between different devices. Calibration is usually different. Remember how Apple changed the number of bars you get after Antennagate?
It's the app, not the wifi
Set your user agent to Desktop and try the speedtest.net through a browser instead.

edit: pixelated my ip
I was doubting your results so I tested myself and was surprised. I used the speedtest app on my phone and speedtest.net via chrome on my windows laptop. Both are sitting the same exact distance from router. Laptop shows full signal, phone shows 1 bar. Both are using the same server in Modesto, Ca
phone 34ms ping 8154kbps/4001kbps
laptop 30ms ping 19.30Mbps/3.86Mbps
I don't understand why the DL is half via the phone, but I'm not really concerned either. It would be nice to have full signal on my wifi since I'm only about 20feet from my router which is behind my TV.

You can, although it only stays until you exit the app.
Type "about:debug" without the quotes in the browser address bar. Then, go to preferences and find "UAString" and set to desktop.
Good evening everyone,
I decided to look into improving speeds over wifi when remoting to my laptop(trying to play Diablo 3 from RT). I recall before February patch Tuesday that there were some issues with wifi, so I assumed that there would be no problems post patches. I decide to run some tests over speedtest.net and I noticed this drastic difference.

Router: Buffalo N300 <-link
Changed network mode(A/B/G/N). Changed channels/Channel width. Only thing I'm running into issues with is upgrading the firmware on the router(talking to buffalo about it now). Im willing to bet that I am missing/overlooking something simple as **** but I cant seem to figure it out.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Holy ****sack, you've got 10x better download speed than I've ever had! Why does the world hate me...
Also back to the question at hand, I've also had a problem like this, even though the Surface has two network cards it's still slow, slower than other PC's in the house, I just guess this is another problem Microsoft will have to fix.

Its got a single network card with a dual tuner. Not two network cards.
As for the download speed. My home download speed is measured in kilobits per sec, I don't even get half a megabit, let alone 11.

Oh sorry, I'm sure I read that somewhere but cheers for giving me clarity. ?
I think you are right with MS needing to optimize a bit.
Another problem I notice is that being in a larger apartment building, there are a TON of networks. I will just have to do some tinkering to see what can be done.
I have to resurrect this thread as this problem, at least for me and a few fellow RT owners, still isn't solved at all. Under 8.0 as well as the 8.1 Preview and the final version the WiFi speed seems to be stuck at a maximum of 65 Mbps.
So far I tried various AP's and different settings: n-only, 2.4/5GHz, encryption disabled, channel width 20/40, etc. but all without success. Also a complete re-install of the Surface RT didnt help as well as the numerous times I have refreshed.
My Z3 works perfectly fine with my Asus RT-AC68P on 5Ghz wifi (Merlin 380.57 )
My Z5 E6683 always drops 5Ghz since I got it. (on Marshmallow)
Anyone is having the same issue?
Mine works (5 GHz ac with Fritz!Box).
Do you have different SSID for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
What does the device do once dropped?
Is there any error shown? (you might see a comment under the AP name in the Z5 or in the log of Asus)
Which channel do you use? Is it fixed?
Is the connection good enough? (close to the AP)
5ghz ac working well here. Very fast can stream from my nas very quickly.

Many problems over here. See this: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperi...IFI-issues-on-z5-premium/m-p/1108961#U1108961
Many people are experiencing issues with WiFi and it's been 6 months and SONY still hasn't fixed any of the WiFi issues.
Actually 2.4Ghz will drop sometimes as well.

No data will come through. If you are playing a online game, you will drop.

Havn't checked, but will check it.

My Z3 still works fine, so I doubt it's the channel issue

Two days ago, I noticed my backups (pictures, etc) had stopped on my Pixel with errors of 'Network Timeout.' After playing around trying to pin down the problem (NAS is ok, Router is fine, etc.), I found the phone just won't upload. Or it does intermittently at 100-200 Kbps with the VERY occasional burst of 45-50 Mbps. Downloads are fine, extremely fine at 90-110 Mbps. I do not believe it is a problem with the router as other devices on the same network have no problems. I am including screenshots from a HTC M9 and Pixel both connected to the same AP.
Now for the kicker. The Pixel is works as expected when connected to other WiFi APs (such as work, random Linksys and Netgears in the neighborhood, etc.). Just not at home. So back to the problem is with my router. But how, if everything else works fine? I'm posting here as well as the DD-WRT forums. Maybe between the two I can find a resolution or someone else experiencing the same.
Devices used while testing:
Linksys WRT-1900AC running DD-WRT
Pixel (Google store variant not VZW)
HTC M9
Acer Chromebook
ASUS laptop running Win10

Are you using IPv6 on your home network? If so, disable it and test it out. There have been reported problems with ipv6.

Thanks for the reply. However, no, I do not have IPv6 on my network. Also, as suggested on the DD-WRT forums, I do not have QoS enabled. This all seems strange as nothing was changed on my phone nor my network. Phone was fine one day and acting up the next and nothing else on the network is experiencing issues. Long weekend coming up so I'm thinking about erasing and resetting the phone to factory settings to start fresh. Phone is stock (not rooted, and still locked) as I actually like how it is and feel no need to alter it. Just perhaps something got fouled up on it. Will post back once I do the reset. In the mean time, if anyone has further suggestions, I am listening.

The maximum download/upload i got was on different wireless networks.
Here they are:
maximum download, this was in my home network, 512/512 Mbps link with a TP Link Archer C9 router
https://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/4166625520
maximum upload, got it in my college network, have no idea about their link speed, it was tested in a Aruba AP 135 access point

Just for information, i tried better routers and gigabit speed links with them, but never got higher speeds, each and every router after 866 Mbps gives me the same 400 ~ 500 Mbps down / 250 ~ 300 Mbps Upload, and this tests are made in a 0,5 ~ 1 meter range from them
Best budget router i tested was the Archer C9 from TP Link, but the one i like the most is Netgear R7000 (similar speeds, but i love Merlin Firmware option, it's an Asuswrt "modded" firmware)
Beastly phone, beastly chipset, beastly radios
Pretty impressive for a mobile chipset. The Pure Edition is a beast!

Thank you. Those are really impressive speeds. I recently moved on to the Pixel 3 XL but I'm turning my MXP into a dedicated VR headset and getting wifi at those speeds would negate the need for a usb tether entirely. Making sure I don't need to change roms or anything to achieve that.
