[Q] Sharing PC internet connection to Android

Hi All,
Any chance to do this?
I knew we can share Android's internet connection to PC (via USB tethering) but what about the other way?
What if we want to use PC connectivity to Android via USB?
I mean imagine if we're at zone without GPRS/EDGE/3G and only copper line/broadband is available and no wifi router either (worst case scenario?)
p/s:.am using HTC Hero , Eclair 2.1
regards
This is not possible at the moment in stock OS . search for reverse tethering .There are crude workarounds for this .
Google just thinks everyone has internet on their phone all the time .

Internet pass-through

I came from HTC HD2 with Android where I had in the very usefull function Internet Pass-Throught.
With Internet Pass-Through I can share the internet connection of my pc with my phone through usb cable so I have not to use wifi when I have to download a lot of Megabyte.
Is it possible to do something like this with the Galaxy R or with same apps?
But wifi is free, why do you need a PC?

This is a standard function built into our android. You need no app.
Go to settings... networks... tethering... and there select if you want the R to route to usb or wifi.

Because when I have to download a lot of data (maps or tegra game) wifi need a lot of time than direct connection with pc.

Then turn your pc into a wifi access point.
If you have linux, try this : http://blog.mycila.com/2010/06/reverse-usb-tethering-with-android-22.html
You can try the following for windows, but not sure it works!!
For reverse tethering/pass through, you have to connect your phone using USB and go to network devices and bridge these connections : NIC with you phone.
I use Connectify and a cheap USB wifi dongle to share the Internet connection from PC to phone. Good wifi connection speed is 3-5 megabytes per second. So it's less than 3 minutes to download half of a gig (the size of heaviest Tegra games). I wouldn't call this slow.

How do you do that? My phone is not visible as a network adapter when connected. Should I try USB tethering and doing it?
I always used to use this feature on my Windows mobile through Microsoft proprietary ActiveSync software. I certainly miss that feature on Android devices.
Hopefully we get it on ICS!

[Q] How to share internet of non-Android device on my Android(Galaxy R)

So, i'm using Galaxy R as my primary phone but have multiple phones. I have a Nokia x3-02 which i use to connect to internet on my PC. But i also use it to connect to internet on my Galaxy R via bluetooth.
For this i just have to switch bluetooth ON on both the devices and in my Galaxy R under the "Bluetooth" option there is a list of available devices. When i choose the "setting" button located on the right side of the "Nokia X3-02" i get the following option
Internet access(Use for Internet access) and a "checkbox" alongside it which i check and then i can surf internet using my Nokia X3-02's internet connection.(See pics for details)
My question is i do not get this "Internet access" option under every devices having bluetooth even on other high-end devices, why ?
What i need to do in order to surf the internet using other mobile's internet connection using bluetooth ??
Kindly help in this regard...
Obviously not all devices support bluetooth tetherint and that's why you cannot find it on every device.

Thnx Adam for replying but
How ridiculous it is that Nokia X3-02 supports bluetooth tethering(if really it is) or even my cheap Nokia 2700C but not the Nokia N8 or other high-end Nokia devices which i tried the same way i mentioned above.... so, i'm still doubtful about it
and is there any way to find out exactly which Nokia model support this feature... i can't find this out anywhr

I need it to connect my laptop to internet when the normal internet connection is not available. Anyway I found that Lenovo P770 has a kind of software called personal Hot Spot that can be used to share internet. There is no need to root the phone. Are a lot of softwares that you can install to your smartphone and PC to share the internet through USB or Wifi.
Thanks anyway.!
