I damaged my sim tray, im look to replace it......
I guess, the questions i have are:
1. where to buy replacement, I was thinking on buying the on this site: http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-moto...r-contact.html
2. I need a Torx T5, right? And a pry tool, to help out? and maybe a solder pen?
3. It seems fairly easy to take apart: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=xbj5vYkjMBA

So, I got a Samsung Infuse. Super duper cheap. I bought it knowing there was an issue--the last owner ripped the sim card out and tore off four of the pins on the sim tray. So I unsoldered the top of the sim tray (the metal sleeve), and added solder to the broken pins to try to get the sim card to get contact.
Well, no good so far. The phone won't see my AT&T sim card. When I boot the phone, I just try to hold the sim card pressed firmly against the tray---but no luck so far.
I was wondering, though--what is the purpose of the other row of pins (circled in the photo in red)? They don't seem to be connecting to anything...and what about the other two pins (circled in blue)? I notice when I short them, the phone reboots.
Can anyone else here take a peek at their Infuse and tell me if there's some other issue with the other pins? I'm trying to figure out why they're there.

Hi Evan,
When you insert the Micro SD card it shorts out those 2 pins together. As far as repairing the SIM/MicroSD holder, there is no repair for it. the SIM/MicroSD holder needs to be replaced. I have the same problem and as of yet i haven't found any one who sales just the SIM/MicroSD holder. If you were successful, pls let me know. I am in need of one.
Thanks
Hi. Did you guys ever find a solution for this? Or somewhere that could sell the tray itself? Because like a retard I actually tore off a pin with a SIM adapter and now it won't work anymore....
Thanks!
they do sell samsung infuse housing for sim and sd card at ebay.
Hi. I have the same problem. I found that they do sell housing replacement for sim for about 5$ at eBay. I don't have soldering skill so if you are successful, would you mind post picture instruction steps?
Thanks
Not sure which sub forum this was most appropriate, so I'm trying here
I have a G2X from T-mobile USA, and the small board that contains the sim reader and microsd reader is damaged, though only the sim reader. 2 of the gold prongs are missing, there for it will not read any sim card.
Does anyone know where I can get that board as a replacement part? or if there is ANY way to fix the prongs?

hi, i found a razr hd in ebay at a good price, but it is missing the sim tray (that door at the side of the phone to insert the micro sim)... is there any way to insert the sim card without the sim tray?
thanks.
Some ideas:
1) Maybe you can build a little plastic piece that ressembles original. I can figure it is not an easy approach but with you could get it with patience
2) Try to find anyone capable to build that little piece
3) Try to google if there is any person buying his/her phone only as a replace part (i.e those cases on which device was unrepairably damaged)
4) Try to google if there is any provider (original or generic) for this little piece

find and borrow an original sim tray , find 3D printer and clone one
i guess if i don't find the piece somewhere i will have to make one of wood or plastic LOL!
Just copy the design and print it on a 3D printer, I can send the measures and a good set of high quality pics.

So hmm i finally decided to use moto g as my main phone.
Got the nano --> microsim adaptor from a local store.
Inserted the sim. Sim doesnt get detected. Tried removing the sim. STUCK!. I think i broke the simreader pins without even actually using a phone.
I just contacted the motorola people.Too bad my phone is bought from usa and im in india till July. Anyone here has a guide on how to change the sim slot?!? I managed to remove the damn adaptor but i broke the pins so i guess i m screwed.
Same here. I'm going to buy a replacement for the SIM tray off ebay, and have it replaced (guys in my local store said it would cost $13, but another store asked for $20, so the prices may vary). I'm in Poland.
Hi, i have the issue with my moto g. I fix the problem manually using a little piece of metal to make sure that the pin I broke touch the Sim. But that's was my case, I recommend you to go in a technical service, they can put a new sim reader and this cost about 20$.
Motorola already realized that this is a serious problem, because in my Moto G 4G with LTE User Guide they clearly mention on 4th page: "Caution: Make sure you use the correct sized SIM card, and don’t use adapters with it."
How did you do it

Screwed up my MG2013 sim1 with the adaptor, Moto warranty is over and they said no for repair
Tried to find a way out and used a screwdriver to raise the points but the gold points dont read the Sim any which way
I will probably look for a local shop who can replace the reader I guess

Anybody in here actually did this repair? I noticed there are differences between the new tray and my old one.
Okay so I don't really want to get into how it happened, but this piece that the ribbon which powers the micro sd card reader, and home button broke.
Picture of the damage in the attachments.
So, is there any way at all to get this piece repaired? I seriously do not want to have to change tablets, I love this one so much, so if there's anyway to fix it I really want to know. Thank you.
There is not practical to find Samsung parts as Chinese manufacturers are not allow to sell it. Anyway, it costs only a dime and it's not worth to sell as low demand.
You have 3 options:
1- Buy a dead mainboard and have someone swapped the connector.
2- Buy a broken screen Note Pro ( LTE or Wifi ) , then swap the mainboard.
3- Buy an used mainboard.
Most will take option 2 or 3, even professionals as it's not worth spending time to fix a connector, which requires skills and equipment to do it.
