Looking for an Android app to send links from phone browser to Windws desktop via USB - General Topics

I am looking for an Android app to send links from phone browser to Windows desktop via USB.
I am NOT looking to send via WiFi, carrier network or any shared cloud storage. Need direct communication between Android phone (rooted Moto X running JB) and Windows 7 desktop.
I am also NOT looking to sync all bookmarks - just to send a link to the page currently open in phone browser to my Windows desktop.

Why?

If using Chrome, doesn't it populate your bookmarks on phone, and vice versa?

[Q] Cannot sync chrome bookmarks

I went to settings and clicked sync with Chrome book. I have chrome to phone installed and connected to the Xoom. Is there something else I have to do?

Chrome to phone has nothing to do with bookmark sync. Chrome to phone sends the URL of the site from your desktop to your tablet/phone independent of bookmarks.
I have Chrome to phone installed as well as bookmark sync enabled both in Chrome desktop and Xoom. Do you have the bookmark sync setup in the Chrome browser on your PC using the same account you are using on your Xoom?
before the xoom was released, i started shifting over to using chrome broswer.
i collected/exported all my bookmarks from various broswers (firefox/opera/safari/ie) and imported them all into the chrome.
when I got the XooM, i did a sync and now i have over 10 years worth of bookmarks.

Bookmarks into opera mini

Ok I have a bunch of bookmarks in my default browser. But I'm changing over to opera mini browser and need help getting them over. Can anyone help?

Well, here's what you can do...
1. Sync (export) the bookmarks from your default browser using any 3rd party sync app - there are many available.
2. Transfer (import) the bookmarks to your PC's browser - if you have opera browser on your PC, its a lot easier. Else, install opera browser and sync the bookmarks which you had exported using the 3rd party app.
3. Once done, you will need to setup "Opera Link" sync - it's a simple registration.
4. Once the sync is complete, your bookmarks will remain on operas' servers
5. Open Opera Mini, go to settings, enable "Opera Link"
6. Login with your username/password.
7. Opera Mini bookmarks will be synced with your PC bookmarks.
If there is a simpler method, others can pls feel free to suggest. AFAIK there are some apps which help in importing apps from Chrome browser to the default Android browser but I have never used the apps.
Alright. It will be a couple of weeks until I can try it but ill give it a go and see what happens

Pc Suite ?

Hello,
Is there any software that could sync my Nexus S as I used to do with my Nokia. Unfortunately, I dont have a data plan on my phone else would have done via google. So any way ?
Sync what?

Android Sync
Without a data plan, my first choice would be to keep data access disabled (in Settings>>Wireless and Network Settings>>Mobile Networks) and to sync over wifi to your google account.
If that isn't an option, The only third-party suites I'm aware cost around $40. Do a web search for "android desktop sync" and you'll find them.
Samsung does have their Kies Sync software for some models, but at least according to their website there isn't any software for the Nexus S models.
Good luck.
I used to have no wireless internet (now I have and don't really use it)
Contacts, calendar. events added in the device will sync next time you connect to wifi.
For gmail I usually sync 30 days to the phone so I can access everything offline.
However I would like a pc or online suite in the future, something like palm desktop where you can sync official mail, contacts, calendar, tasks, expenses, notes, apps, office docs and settings. Something more integrated..

Everything you do with Google is available or accessible on their website so nothing to "sync" with a computer in the traditional sense via USB cable.
If you need stuff local then you can do like I do. On my Mac, I have Contacts and Address Book and Mail configured with my Google account so any changes I make on phone is replicated (synced) to those programs.

I downloaded mybackup pro & made a backup. But its an app. I miss the conventional style of backing up using Nokia PC Suite
Doubletwist can sync your music and photos

Remote desktop via USB

Does any one know of an app that would allow me to view/control my desktop via android device over USB?
Another alternative would be an app, similar to idisplay, that would allow me to either mirror the primary display or use the device as the primary display.
team viewer will let you do it without USB... not sure otherwise...

I don't know of any USB, but a VNC viewer on your phone (Remotix is my favorite) and a VNC server on your computer would work, besides Team viewer.

i use this app to control my phone from my pc on daily basis. it allows to connect via pc and wifi.

Remote Web Desktop
I use Remote Web Desktop all the time
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwibmV0LnhkZXZlbG9wLnJtIl0.
It has a whole web interface to access stuff on your phone... such as sending/receiving texts, etc. It also has a VNC server built in so you can do that as well if you find the need.
Logme in is awsome for that i use it all the time

How to transfer opera mini bookmarks from one android phone to another?

As the thread title says, does anyone know "How to transfer opera mini bookmarks from one android phone to another?"
Recently I've changed my android phone and I stick to my opera mini 7.6(.40234) browser and now I want to move opera mini bookmarks from the old phone to the new one. I've searched the internet and one of the ideas was to copy the files within the "/data/data/com.opera.mini.android/files/" from the old phone to the new one but it wasn't any good.
Does anyone now how to solve the bookmarks transfer?
quick idea: you should able to use "opera link" to sync all bookmark across your device.

Thank you baudbox, I've tried this one and I have the following situation.
Although I'm using Firefox on my desktop PC, I've installed Opera browser for PC just for this sole purpose. To see how it works, for a test, I've logged in the new phone using opera link and my desktop using Opera browser (no bookmarks by default). The result was the only bookmark it was saved on the new phone was deleted. It seems that the phone's bookmarks were sync to the PC's, meaning the only phone bookmark being erased. I didn't see any way of choosing what to sync according to a selected device.
I don't know how opera link works but I supposed the phone bookmarks were supposed to get copied to PC and then connect the other phone and sync it with PC's bookmarks, using the desktop PC as a "middleman". I'm afraid that if I try to sync the old phone using opera link will erase all the bookmarks in it.
I don't see any feature from operalink screenshoot where you can choose a pull or push to opera servers. So guessing you can't
If you haven't already checked it, take a look at

May be you will find some explanations
Thank you very much baudbox! :good:
