My Acer Iconia Tab A100 was updated to 4.0.3 ICS a while back and due to a webbed digitizer I had avoided use (did not want to cut myself on the screen)
After a while of letting the loose glass fall out I can now use it without worry. My problem is no matter what method I have tried rooting this tablet... It is either me who is doing something wrong, I am missing a step before everything else, OR I am just misunderstanding the steps.
I have tried the fastboot/recovery method by nullzero (abd.exe and other programs are not found in internal/external)
i have tried just running the ICS a100 root method (abd.exe and other programs are not found in internal/external)
I have tried watching youtube videos doing exactly as they did... but to no avail and I have no idea what I am doing wrong or if its all just because my tablet is already updated to 4.0.3? or what but its quite frustrating.
I am by no means educated in android so I honestly have no idea what I am doing other than following the steps I watch online so....
That being said. Any and all help is appreciated greatly

i dont know what it is called, so i am not sure if you mentioned it
i have rooted 3 or 4 times with it, and i am also on 4.0.3
it tells you how to set up your tablet before you attempt to root and how to root (follow the directions)
where it tells you to run "runit-win.bat" try right-clicking it and choose "run as administrator" not sure if is matters but it wouldn't hurt to try it
close to the final step, it tells you to install superuser and titanium backup, get them from the android market for free

i am having problems rooting my a100 runing ics 4.0.3.. i have tried every method and nothing seems to work. when i try ZeroNulls root i get Mkdir /data/local/tools access denied. Anyone else having this problem?

Is framaroot work on my device ?
If your device is in the compatibility list above, the short answer is : yes but it depends of your firmware version, latest firmware have less chance to be rooted.
If your device is not in the compatibility list and it embed one of the processor mentionned above, the answer is : try it and see.
Why framaroot doesn't root anymore after I update my device ?
Because framaroot exploit security holes present in several devices which has been patched with update you have done, so exploits can't root your device anymore. Framaroot's exploits have a very short life to keep your device "less exposed" to others malicious application. Keep in mind that framaroot is not a permanent rooting application.
I loose root after update, what I can do to root my device now ?
An advice : if you want to have a chance to keep root after update, don't update with Kies or ODIN for samsung devices or don't flash system partition, prefer OTA update and use OTA survival feature in Superuser or SuperSU.
And if you have no choice, you can use the traditional method : flash tools specific to your device
Will framaroot include more exploits ?
Yes, but don't ask when since I don't know myself, it depend of the vendors fix response.
Framaroot crash when I select Gandalf exploit ?
Often the first time you launch Framaroot by selecting Gandalf as exploit, it crash Framaroot. Don't worry, in this case you have to re-launch Framaroot and select Gandalf again, the second time it should work.
What means error# on result ?
All errors less or equal to 9 mean your device is not vulnerable.
If you get error#10, give a try with Framaroot 1.5.3.
All other errors need some investigation about your kernel image.
Framaroot say Success but SuperSU is not installed after reboot ?
Maybe there is some additional protection on your device or something goes wrong with SuperSU version embedded in Framaroot.
In this case, I recommend to use "Execute script" action and put your own shell script commands in /sdcard/custom (use at your own risk, all commands are executed with root privileges). Look at this post to know how to use custom script.
What can I do when the result is Half-success ?
You see this message when the /system partition on your device is a read-only filesystem (eg: SquashFS). To handle this case Framaroot try to use a trick by adding "ro.kernel.qemu=1" in file /data/local.prop. To test if this trick work you have to reboot your device and connect to it with adb shell. Once connected type the "id" command to see if you are root.
If you are not root, your last chance is to select "Execute script" action and put your own shell script commands in /sdcard/custom (use at your own risk, all commands are executed with root privileges). Look at this post to know how to use custom script.

try to run it from adb and manually chose gandalf but its not working to...

All errors less or equal to 9 mean your device is not vulnerable. You have to use an other rooting method (CF-autoroot)

The check for vulnerabilities is trivial and not accurate. Aragorn is often displayed but it only work on samsung devices. Choose another exploit with doesn't change anything, Framaroot display Gandalf if there is a chance to root your device, for your device it's a no go.

samsung proclaim only boots into recovery

Gandalf exploit don't root
I have LG Optimus L3 (e430) and I used framaroot to root with success. Now I can't use Gandalf exploit. If I try to use it, it everytime send's me back to desktop. I'm sure that this is fault of updated ROM. Can you fix it?

Hi guys. So, I just got a Y330 - which is cool. It's rooted, which is even cooler. Can I unlock the bootloader? Can I heck. It would be easier to pull teeth out of a hen's beak!

The only time it succeded was with rootgenius but only for a few minutes, after that it unroots itself again.

Hi, I have bought this done two day ago and yesterday, I was searching also how to root this device. So to root your done,
1. Download 4shared app on Google play
2. Open and search for: ROOT MASTER+SUPER SU+ ROOT CHECKER. ZIP
It is a zip file,
Size: 3.27Mb.
Go to your file manager in download and open zip then install.
After install, you open Root master. It is in Chinese but you will see where it is written root.
Caution: do not touch the red bouton.

So I've been working on creating a ROM based on the original one combined with a few of my own modifications as well as some mods from Speedys material mod - and now, I think it is ready for sharing with you guys.
It is rooted and lots of Huawei stuff is gone. Finally, I actually kinda like the phone now.
To install it, first get CWM installed. Then simply copy zip to an SD Card and install it. Please let me know what you think about it - and feel free to push the Thanks! button.

For what submodel is this? There are Huawei Y330-u01 u05 u07 u11, idk if there is u05 but flashing on diffrent device will make it bootloop

Anyway you could post written instructions in english please
I had to dump my ZTE Warp 4g n9510 cell phone back to factory default because a hacker got into it (everything on the phone, games, contacts list and so on is backed up on on a windows cd-disk, before the hacker hit it. I learned that lesson the hard way). On the advice from Boost Mobile I did a "##786# then it asked for a MSL password. The phone is back to the way it was when I got it brand spanking new. I found the instructions for Framaroot at "androidforums" I followed the instructions bellow

This root method is easy as slicing through better took me different root methods to try to root this phone and finally i figure it out and hopefully somebody will come out with cwm and stock rom.
notes to root:
1.Download framaroot and Install it
2.Open up the framaroot
3.Dont touch it where it says install superuser
4.on the bottom you need to select either Aragorn or Gandalf once its selected your phone will freeze what you do is restart phone by the way power button still works.(the freeze part is on the app only)
5.Finally you rooted and enjoy

What gives? I followed the instructions. What does the error numbers mean? I can't find any reference to error numbers 5 and 6. I can do a screen capture and past if need be. I must be doing something wrong or out of sequence. I could use some help please.

1.Download kingroot and install it in your device.
2.Go to setting about phone and type up to 7 time on build number to enable developer option.
3.Go to setting developer option and enable debugging.
4.Again go to developer option and enable oem unlock {oem unlock only find in devices running on android 5.0 or later}
5.Turn on data connection or wifi
6.Open king root and hit on root now at the bottom of kingroot.
wait some time while it root your device.
7.After some time it say success, ok you are done close kingroot application and open your apps drawer and check it ,you find a new apps called kinguser, kinguser is a root permission manager app, if it available in your apps drawer that means your device is rooted.*enjoy* A new Rooting experience.
