Does anyone have experience with Hyperion Micropack or other high mAh batteries? - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

Amazon has a Hyperion Micro pack battery which claims to have 3800mah packed into the size of the original s5 battery size (2800mah). Does anyone have any experience with these type of batteries ? Do they deliver or is it just fake hype?

Definitely fake hype, there's no way they can pack 35% more juice in the same space. There's a thread regarding a "4300mAh" battery where the poster said it was better than the stock battery.
I do think they are just a tad bit thicker than the original battery, probably by a hair so I wouldn't be surprised if it was really a 2900-3000mAh battery which would give you the impression battery life is slightly better.

Do you have experience with these type of batteries or are you just assuming?

I have it. Came in the mail today. Bought 2x Micropack with wall charger. Label says capacity is 3800mah which I know is BS, but I needed extra batteries. I'm testing it out now.
Some notes comparing with OEM.
- NFC works
- Same dimensions
- It's weight is lighter.
- Drains ( percentage wise) faster.
- On first charge, charged faster.
My initial impressions tell me it's mah capacity is lower than OEM. I'll see if performance improves or not after a few more charge cycles.

What's there to assume? Hyperion is a good company, but mAh rating is clearly subjective to them especially in the case of these batteries. Just Google search it if you don't believe me, it is fact that it's impossible to have that much higher capacity in the same battery size made with the same metals.

I had a 3800 mAh Hyperion battery for my S3 and it was fantastic.

It will probably fit, I don't doubt it but there seem to be a battery door as well and by the looks of it. Although it seems its for the fasinate only.
the fascinates battery fits but when ever I charge the phone, it says battery not detected, and the phone does not charge. more than likely you'd get the same error with the extended one.
all the galaxy s phones use the same 1500 mh battery i have the epic but i bought the battery sold for the vibrant and the have the same exact serial numbers on them.

I just did a search for Samsung 2200mah and came up with a 3 page list of batteries and phones. I'd be completely fine with a thicker phone to get longer battery lfe.

Since the battery is thicker, you could halfass the cover by simply cutting an opening in it just enough that the battery could protrude from it and still allow the stock cover to snap on. Other than it being pretty, the battery hump would stick out less than the cover that is included on that eBay Fascinate link. Or maybe you could get really fancy by cutting off the bump from the Fascinate cover and epoxy it or something to your existing Epic cover.
As I'm sitting here writing this, I'm thinking about just doing it myself...dremel out the hump and epoxy it to the Epic cover, using enough epoxy to create a smooth transition lip instead of an actual bump, light sanding to clean up the epoxy work and then wrap it in some 3M Di-NOC carbon fiber graphics while I'm at it.
The ONLY problems I've ever heard with some of the aftermarket batteries (while I was on the Samsung Moment forums) was that occasionally people would get an incompatible battery warning on their phone, but could easily be resolved with a reset. Once you get yours, keep us posted how it works out. When I first got my phone, the battery was completely dead, but I was thankful. I read random stories (which are debatable) as to if battery conditioning is even necessary or if it even matters. Either way, I put my phone on the wall charger (faster than USB via a computer) and let it charge completely. I then ran about 4 streaming music apps at once to completely kill the battery, then did a nice slow charge on the PC. While I can't say if my battery life is good or bad compared to anyone else since everyones usage is different, at least I can say I tried to condition it. My point is that I've tested the life of batteries this way when swapping between older and newer batteries on my Treo as well. Charge them till their full, run a battery intensive app (streaming for example) and timed how long it took to die. I have Treo batteries that lasted as little as 1.75hrs and as much as 3.5hrs, so naturally I keep the 3.5 in there as much as possible. You could test your current battery vs the extended battery the same way. I chose streaming as my testing of choice since I stream music while working anyways, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary...I'd just let it go until the music stopped, noted the time and swapped to the next battery. Maybe you could do the same to confirm the difference in life between the 1500 and 2200 battery, otherwise we'll never know.

That hump would just be constanly snagging the edge of my pocket everytime, hence why I wanted to make it a smooth transitional edge like I mentioned above. Also, this battery is 3000mah, 2x the stock Epic battery. Is the i9000 the same height and width as our batteries? It'd be an even larger hump, but twice the battery...hmmmm.
One thing to keep in mind about battery ratings is that it is dependent on discharge rate. A battery discharged at 1 c will have a different and lower apparent capacity than the same battery discharged at 0.1 c. Thus a larger battery benefits in two ways. Physical size and lowering of the c rate based on the same amp draw. This is where less reputable battery makers cheat. They will put an incredibly small load on a battery to achieve a higher rating.

I'm waiting for Seidio to release this battery. They have an extended battery for the Evo and it gets good reviews overall, as seen here. Super expensive and makes the phone super bulky though
Why wait for Seidio and their overpriced batteries? People have been buying the extended batteries for the Moment for years via eBay, so why would any of the Galaxy S line batteries be any different for the sub $20 range?

The point is that unless they are giving you a physically larger battery, not to put too much faith in the MaH ratings of batteries. Especially ones out of china with no brand to speak of. The difference between a 1500mah and a 1700mah is likely in how they discharged to to rate it.
If you can find it, the C rate on discharge is a good indicator of quality in lithium batteries. Higher C rate discharge have lower internal resistance and are made with better materials. I'm not sure how likely you are to find the full specs on a phone battery.
In a test environment its not too difficult to figure out which is which. Put a temperature probe on it, and then put a high load on it. The one with the lowest temp is probably your best battery. (same size anyways)
Assuming the 2200mAH batteries are genuine Samsung OEM, I'd love to see one get tested by the guy at batteryboss.org to see how they rate under the same test conditions as the other batteries he's tested. If they end up being real, honest-to-god 2200mAH @ 250mA discharge, that would put them right on par capacity-wise with the average, much thicker no-name nominally-3500mAH Evo/Desire/Hero batteries from eBay. 1500 definitely isn't big enough, but a real 2200mAH battery with back that's large enough to accommodate it (preferably with a sculpted, rounded profile instead of a boxy pregnant lump) might be a nice alternative to a full-blown ~2800mAH-nominally-3200/3500mAH extended battery from Seidio.
In any case, I think it's been well established by now that the "extended" batteries that are the same size, but ~100mAH larger than stock, are almost a complete waste of money. Even when they DO last 30-60 minutes longer, you seriously have to question the sanity of spending so much for so little.
That said, I suspect that most of the cheap 2200mAH batteries that will eventually end up on eBay will end up testing out at around 1500mAH.

I think I got what you mean. Either way, both the 2200mah and 3000mah battery are incrementally large than the next vs the stock 1500mah battery, so I would assume that each battery will in fact store more of a charge.
has anyone tested whether these batteries work and charge normally? If they do work, you can grab a cheap hard case on ebay for 3 dollars and cut a hole through it for the battery. It will be ugly though, unless you figure out how to make it look nice

Well I just bought one of the first one's. Kind of skeptical that it is rate almost 50% higher and looks to be the same size as stock. Also hope this fits... oh well. Says 5 - 10 business days so I will report back later.

Seller said 29g, while chichitec and anker is 34, stock battery is 29 aswell heavier means better batterytime

BUt this isn't the gold one although i bet it's made at the same factory, oh the gold battery weigh in at 27 Lol i had a gold battery but got a full refund, so i opened it up, and there was a small battery inside, with a spacer built around it!

generally speaking the weight of the battery relates to the amount of li-ion in the battery (this can only be a generalization due to the casing of the battery and the like) but simply put the higher the weight the larger amount of li-ion in the battery which increases the Amp Hours; Ah
edit: so continuing on a 2300mAh battery should be heavier than a 1500mAh battery as it would have more li-ion in it

I have BXT'S extended model BP6X and am using it with my Motorola XT720. The BXT battery weighs in at 24g (it is rated at 2200 mAh) and the OEM BP6X weighs in at 28.7g (which is rated at 1390 mAh) I have used the battery for about a day (with the charge that it had shipped with) and it didn't last very long. I was also running a 1.2ghz overclock at the time so that could have contributed to it too. I believe however that I need to charge it for about 10 hours or so the first charge, just to make sure it has its full capacity. (which I have not done yet) I can give a full overview in a day or so if you guys would like.

Yes, that is probably true. I have also heard reports of android's battery meter not correctly read the % of battery power on these BXT extended batteries but it may vary from phone to phone so people will have to test it out on their devices. What the report said was that the battery would quickly drop to 25% and then it would take HOURS to drop to 0% but low battery messages would pop up frequently during that time because the phone believed the battery was that low, even though the actual battery % was not that low because it was just incorrectly reading it. I could not tell yet from a few hours of use whether or not I experienced this problem with my BXT BP6X.

I ordered this BXT 2300mAh battery on July 21st 2011.
1st of all it came after 15 long days of waiting.
and when it finally arrived the battery was non functional. DOA
(that might be a one time thing)
But what's really surprising is the weight. As someone mentioned before; if the battery is more powerful it should be heavier. So, a 2300mAh should have more li-ion and should be quite a bit heavier then 1520mAh Stock. right?

Guys, sorry to resurrect this thread but I've just got one of these with the Sensation I've just bought.
It weighs 34g exactly the same as the Anker I've got. Bot tried the Anker yet so can't compare how they both perform.

In there it says that the battery weighs 2.1 ounzes.
Le goog says that that's 59.5 grams.
59.5 grams * 47 mAh/gram = 2796.5 mAh
For a battery that's sold as 1900mAh.
Battery Monitor Widget calculated around 1550mAh for it (in my DHD with the 15% bug!)
I'm not saying you are wrong. Just saying that the math magic isn't really working in this case^^
Most likely is the weight of packaging. No net weight of the battery.
Search on amazon Anker-1900mAh-Battery-Sensation.
Here you can calculate. seems to be true.

I have Anker 1900, but was wondering if anyone has tried the 2300Mah batteries advertised on eBay or any other battery that gives a significant performance boost apart from the $100 cover/bat combo.

Anker afaik is the best. Most of those 2300mah batteries are either fake or come with a different cover because they are thicker. So I'm sticking with Anker

I have an anker, It seamed to be good at first, but I noticed the black bar on top is starting to separate from the silver battery part.
It hasn't been holding a good charge. I may be buying a new one soon.

I currently have the Anker and it does last longer than stock but I'm looking for something longer and this is the only one I found that offers a bigger capacity without looking sketch...
From what i have heard the Anker is the only way to go.
Mah rating only adds a small amount to your battery capacity. From what I understand it will last longer, but if you charge it using a higher amperage then it will drain quicker, as you train it to deal with charge quickly.
Power optimisation on the ROM should be more of a priority when it comes to battery power =/

Highest capacity standard sized battery for the V10

The battery in my V10 is 3000 mAh. I saw one on Ebay that claimed 3800 mAh. Is that possible in a battery this size? I know a lot of off brand name batteries inflate the numbers to sell them. I wonder if this is the same. Do any of you have a standard slim battery that is over 3000 mAh?
There is batterys for the LG V10 that can go up to 9000 mAh and higher. They are NOT inflated numbers. The only thing about these batterys is that you will have to have a thicker case.

I tried it but the stock battery lasted longer. I don't recommend it and if anyone else finds a another brand let me know. I'm always willing to try all available options

Right now I want a standard sized battery, highest capacity possible. I have only seen one option like you are referring to, and I do not like the case. We will probably see more options in the future as this is still a new phone model.

I am sorry to say, but until the technology progresses, the battery will only increase in size as the mAh increases. IF the 3800 battery you speak of is the same size as the stock battery, it is bull**** and will not be 3800 mAh. If its a shady seller, it could be a even less than stock. Please be wary of these people in the future.

I agree with you 100%! I am still willing to bet that a battery can be made with a higher capacity than the stock one, and have the battery size stay the same. There is a limit to how much capacity can be squeezed into a battery this size, and as you say, when that is exceeded, the battery size has to increase. I just have not owned a mobile phone in a few years that had a removable battery. I was able to find higher capacity, standard sized ones in my other phones, just hoping I will find one for the V10 that is actually the rating on the battery. Amazon has several that are rated as 3300 mAh, but I am not sure if the performance difference on those would be noticeable, even assuming that the specs are legit. If somebody comes out with a super high capacity larger battery with a good case, I may try that.
Well 3300mAh is maybe real. I noticed that the stock battery continues to charge for around 1 to 1.5 hours after you see the "battery charge complete" message. Looking at the charge current with abttery monitor widget it looks like the stock battery when charged fully till charge current becomes zero has in fact 3200 to 3300 mAh capacity. When i do this i also see that my battery sits at 100% for several hours before starting to drop which confirms that. So maybe these 3300mAh batteries are really with such capacity but nevertheless they will not give you better battery life than the stock battery.
