How to Ask Questions!
If your messing with your phone, eventually you will have a problem you cant solve on your own. We have all been there, its just part of modding your phone. but if you give some time and a little patience, most of the time its easy to get fixed.
FIRST: SEARCH!!!This means try searching a thread if its too long, or searching the entire G2X Section of the forum. (and we can tell if you really searched or if you just say you did to get rid of the people yelling at you) If you see nothing that relates to you, or you have tried all of that, then you can make a post, BUT FIRST...
Stuff to Try Before Posting:So... your having a problem with your phone... well there are a few things you can do to help fix most issues:
Go into CWM and clear Cache
try this first, it really does help solve most issues from within a rom
Make a Nandroid Backup and clear data
just do this as a test, make a backup and clear data. check to see if the problem still exists, if it fixes it then its something you installed/did to the rom that caused the problem.
if not then...
Try flashing a new ROM
even if you don't like it, even if you can never go back to gingerbread after ICS just try it to see if it fixes your problem. If it does then you can decide if ICS is worth the issue your having.
Clear App data/Reinstall App
If you having an issue related to a specific app, try going into settings and clearing that app's cache and data. if the issue still exists try uninstalling it then reinstalling it after a reboot.
If none of these things helped you, then its time to make a post.
Things to Include in your post:If your having an issue, many of us are willing to help to get it resolved, but first, you need to give us some useful information.
A good checklist to include in your post is the following:
Current Rom
Current kernel
If you have done ANY undervolting or overclocking.
If you had this problem before (either on other ROM's or previously on your current ROM)
If you wiped Cache
If you wiped Data
If you tried installing another ROM
Any other things you already tried (BE SPECIFIC!)
the more you include in the first post the better, too much information is MUCH better than not enough.
If you think the issue is related to a specific ROM, try posting in that ROM's thread in the development section, but please don't spend too much time there. If nobody can find a simple fix, move your discussion to a new thread in the Q and A section, don't clog up the Developer's thread with a single issue.
Once again, the more information you give us the better, and if you don't post the above, someone will most likely ask you those questions, or tell you to do those things first (or they just might ignore the question).
If you see any typos, or think of anything i could add or improve on please let me know.

I have the same problem and I can't find any way to fix it I am going to post a new thread about the problem.
Hi all...
I was watching, reading and was excited about cm 14.1 for my LG g2 which was running on lollypop.
What a mess I created for myself. Will explain step by step. I I would be thankful if anyone can teach me get out with it and back to LG rom lollypop.
1. I rooted my phone with one click tool.
2. Then I installed Twrp through play store app.
3. Download cm 14.1 for lg g2. The as well as open gaps.
4. Next thing I did rebooted to twrp recovery and clean it after taking back up. But was not able to flash cm 14.1. Also loaded gapps7. 1.
5. After so many trials nothing happened I even updated twrp to 2.8
6. Then I found twrp 3.0 and tried to flash it.
7. Suddenly my phone came to a stage Fastboot.
8. My computer stopped detecting it.
9. Then I re plugged it into the USB of my computer.
10. I found the partitions are there. But no system is there.
11. Even I don't know to sideload it.
12. Lg flash tool is not able to flash it.
I request if someone know the way to flash it with lg roam. I L be thankful.
Can anyone email me steps to do to get out of it.
My email is [email protected]
Thanks

This isn't the LG G2 forum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2
Hey all, I am looking for a little help with my phone. As the title says, I don't have enough posts to ask my question in the development section, so I have to post here and hope someone can help me figure this out.
I'm running the latest release 5 of Jellywiz with incubus' ICS theme and the VRLG7 modem on my unlocked rooted with cwm 6.0.1.2 Verizon Galaxy S3. I'm not a developer, but I'm not a noob either, so I have all the bases covered for generic troubleshooting.
Last night my phone died at a party, when I got home I plugged it in and went to sleep. This morning it was fully charged so I unplugged it and booted it up. pretty much as soon as it was booted up (before i even unlocked the device) i saw a toast notification that "system has been granted superuser permission" then 5-10 seconds later I felt 4 or so vibrations and then the device reboots itself.. Once it reboots, it does again what I just described and will continue doing it until I take out the battery.
One time I managed to get into superuser and delete the system entry, then once it asked permission I denied its request. Didn't change the end result at all. Now it says "system has been DENIED superuser permission" and still reboots, following the same pattern.
Also, this isn't the first time this has happened. A few days ago when release 5 first came out I updated from release 3 and lost GPS, restored to an earlier backup that had GPS (i think release 1) and dirty flashed 5 again which kept my GPS working. Then I debloated some stuff and when I rebooted I experienced this problem. I eventually odin'd back to stock and did the whole reunlocking rerooting and all that fun stuff and then loaded up release 5 to have a fresh and clean install and it worked flawlessly for about 2 days until now.
So I guess my questions are; is there something i can do now to fix this "system root access" leading to reboots other than using odin to go back to stock, AND since I've been through odin once and it just came back on its own, what might i be doing to cause this problem in the first place. (nobody that i could find in the Jellywiz thread or on a simple google search had this problem)(I had hardly restored any apps or data just before the most recent occurrence so i dont think it has anything to do with other apps)
Thanks in advance for any help or advice, I believe you all with be able to help me get to the bottom of this!
Ok, first off, its a good thing that this wasnt posted in development, as it would have been promptly moved. You have not developed anything ( other than a problem )
Have you done any overclocking? More specifically, overclocking where your custom freq. profiles are applied at boot?

I agree a new thread about this wouldnt belong in development, but i can't even post in the thread relating to the ROM until i have 10 posts.
I have not overclocked or undervolted or really edited anything about the rom in any way... I odin'd to stock, unlocked, rooted, loaded custom recovery, factory reset, wiped data, cache, dalvik, all that stuff, loaded release 5, rebooted, then back to recovery to fix permissions, then rebooted, then recovery to flash rom developers theme, then rebooted... worked well for 2 days, then this morning i keep getting "system granted superuser permissions" leading to multiple vibrations, freezing, and a reboot.
This is for D800 (AT&T LG G2) users ONLY.
This package will update a phone with D80010d firmware to a "mixed" firmware that boots normally to D80020c (kitkat), but retains the older boot loader and compatibility with loki patched custom recoveries. The "normal" boot is 100% unmodified stock.
This "mixed" firmware is currently the only known way for a stock D80020c (kitkat) system that also allows custom recovery.
What's installed:
rpm, tz, modem, and system partitions from the stock D80020c (kitkat) LG G2 firmware.
LG's D80020c kernel, recompiled by @Savoca, and made compatible with the D80010d bootloader.
That will leave your existing D80010d boot loader (aboot) intact, as well as whatever custom recovery already installed.
This firmware package will (or at least should) refuse to install on ANY firmware other than the D80010d firmware. Please don't reply to this thread if you are using anything else. (That was as polite as I'll be on that issue...)
I STRONGLY suggest doing a full wipe on your device after flashing this. You don't have to, but it'd be a really good idea...
This is NOT my software. This is 100% LG's software and firmware. Don't ask for support in this thread. It won't be provided.
Instructions:
Restore your phone to the stock LG G2 D80010d firmware. Please click "here" for directions. (remember that you have the AT&T device when reading that post...) If you don't like that post, here's a youtube video (not mine) for doing the same thing. Make sure you restore the D80010d firmware and _not_ the D80010o firmware!!
Root the device and install recovery (recovery is required, root is not.) This is a link for rooting instructions. While you are welcome to use CWM for your recovery, this is a link for installing TWRP recovery. (Since cyanogenMod took freely given contributions to their codebasse and went private/for-profit, I have a personal bias against them - so my personal recommendation is for TWRP.)
Copy the d80010d_to_20c.zip package linked below to your phone.
Reboot into recovery and install the d800_to_20c.zip package.
Optionally, also install a superSU or other root package.
Optionally, but suggested, Perform a "factory reset" on your device.
Download Links:
The main package (about 1.7GB): Dev-Host (md5: 7cfe7de4ab31f727b72178b8fb618fd3)
SuperSU: Direct from Chainfire's webpage
Credits:
Several people spent countless hours working on finding a way to get recovery working with LG's kitkat. The kernel used in this package was made by @Savoca - who used the solution found by @JackpotClavin. Others involved are (as far as I'm aware) @AndroidUser00110001 and @jakew02. Of course, @Chainfire for the 'su' package.
Source:
All the images in the recovery package are completely stock with the exception of the kernel and kernel modules. The kernel is modified and recompiled with only the following patch: https://github.com/JackpotClavin/an...mmit/7b6187a0e5fb8ca59888cacf5f5b863baa8d1064. (The installer overwrites the kernel images in /system with those from the kernel compile.) The base kernel source is found on LG's opensource website under the D800 heading.
May 2014 Update:
I'm no longer able to tinker with my G2. My wife took it from me (for her own use), and she gets angry when I mess up all her settings.
(I ended up getting a HTC One M8 to tinker with.)
While I'll leave the thread unlocked so users can assist each other, please don't expect prompt responses from me or maintenance.
switched main package link to dev-host
added "source" section.
As soon as it's done downloading I will let you know that it works unless someone beats me to it that is
EDIT: Finally finished downloading I already flshed back to 10d rooted installed recovery and am now installing kk.zip
Re-Edit: just finished installing also just so you know flashing system only took about 2mins a little bit over that in terms of seconds anyways everything seems to be running fine ill report back tomorrow when its not 1am my time and can test things more thoroughly but I can confirm that everything flashes like its supposed to and also I like the little check you added where it says d80010d bootloader good!

It's actually checking that loki_patch reports a d80010d bootloader. If not, it'll abort flashing.
Thanks man, now i have kitkat with root and recovery (D80020c)
Damn I wish I had waited for this before flashing kit Kat last week. Of will I'll just have to wait on a recovery compatible with kit Kat or go back to 4.2.2 and then flash this when I have time.

Okay, so let me get this straight before I do anything. I'm currently running a custom rom right now, do I still need to revert to stock and install a custom recovery again, or can I just copy the stock kitkat zip to my phone and install from my current recovery?

What is step #1 on the instructions?
You can do whatever you want with your phone. It won't impact me whatsoever. However, that has nothing to do with what I posted.
Sigh...on every single KitKat Stock ROM ive tried so far...Bluetooth kills the battery, i mean it massacres it. I really dont get what the issue is...some sort of wakelock?

I'm just trying to get some clarification so I don't have to go out and spend $400 on a new phone.
Would you rather be unaware of what your doing and then break your phone or be cautious and ask a question to the man in charge even if it makes you look like an idiot. I thought so...sorry for wasting your time.

It clearly says on step #1-
Instructions:
So obviously the first step is to flash back to 10d it cannot get any simpler than that

more people asking questions that have already been answered. then when you point out that their question has already been answered they say they are trying to clarify even though it's already been clarified in the OP. it's a phenomenon on xda.

I've seen that people have reported that issue on the D802, but I have to admit that I haven't seen the issue whatsoever on the my own D800. I have bluetooth on 100% of the time, and connected twice a day (on my commute to work and my commute back - each about 45 minutes.) My battery on 4.4.2 is about the same as what it was on 4.2.2 - however, "bluetooth" does show up higher on the battery app list of what is using power. Yet, it doesn't seem to have any real impact on overall battery life.
What are you basing the statement that BT is killing the battery on? Some of those OEM batter apps (like the LG one and even the android built-in one) are often misleading. For example, at least with 4.2.2, my phone wouldn't show "pandora" as a battery user (instead blaming 'android system.)
Of course, it's also possible that, for your environment, something really is causing BT to use up more battery than it should. There are several services related to BT, including the newer GATT/ATT (not related to AT&T) calls. (They are related to low power profiles.) It's possible that *something* in your environment is interacting with the phone or one of those services in such a way to cause issue... I'd suggest getting betterBatteryStats, install the piece needed for it to work properly with kitkat, and getting more detailed information from that. (When I say "environment", I mean the physical space around you, the software on your phone, or anything that may influence RF, light, sound, etc around your phone.)

...and I'm trying to give EXTREMELY clear and detailed instructions so that people don't have to replace their phone. In fact, my instructions take a paranoid approach.
However, your question is essentially asking if you could skip steps. Does a "cautious" person skip steps?
Well, you can - assuming you know EXACTLY which partitions are installed on your phone, EXACTLY where they came from, EXACTLY what version they are, and you are 100% sure that they all match what is required. Of course, if you already had all that information, then you wouldn't feel the need to ask the question, as you'd obviously be "geeky" enough to not even really need a recovery package to install it.
Don't come into this thread asking if you can skip steps and then say you want to protect the investment in your phone. As well, don't get an attitude with me if I don't put my entire life on hold, and spell out to you the very same directions that are on the first post on this thread. Don't want to follow them? Fine. Don't. Honestly, I could NOT care less what happens to your phone if you don't want to follow the instructions I typed out.
You can read. I know this, as your question was in the context of the thread. Are you one of those people who will install kitkat, won't bother to "factory reset" the phone, and then complain that things don't work properly?
Edit: On second thought, FlyingColors, please don't install the package from this post. I get no benefit if you do, but you've already been a burden. I'd rather you continue to use whatever "custom rom" you are using. It's obviously something you are happy with (as you don't want to restore your phone to stock), and I don't have the patience to answer questions when I've already taken the time to give the answers.
By the way, as you want "clarification": It's not a "rom." It's not even a "ROM." At best, it's "firmware." If it was "ROM", you wouldn't be able to change it. Read Only Memory.

Well i had this problem even when i had apps installed on a different Stock KITKAT rom created by someone. I DID NOT have this problem on the official OTA from AT&T, or on the PowerUser KitKat ROM but that had so many things missing that ireally did enjoy, maybe ill download the pack with the removed apps. So i decided to rewipe everything, ReFlash stock Jellybean and reroot and do everything all over again and then i flashed this, same problem. Bluetooth is completely off, i rarely use it. It went from 100%-60% within 1 hour of just standby, didnt even use the phone. Look at the stats and Bluetooth has been keeping the CPU awake the whole time. So i did what someone suggested, turned it on and off and rebooted. Same problem. Went back to JB, no issues.

after you went back to jb then rooted and installed custom recovery then flashed this firmware, did you do a factory reset upon first boot? meaning did you get past the initial set up then go to settings/backup and restore and reset the phone? if not then that could be your problem. the factory reset does indeed reset everything after you initially install kitkat. it worked for me also, i had mms issues every time i initially installed kk. after a factory reset the mms is resolved.
Yep, did that. Still same problem. So im assuming its something to do with the files themselves, and maybe the fixes that are being done to keep recovery. I dont know. But im back on Jellybean for now, i cant let my battery take that huge a hit.

Wow. That's REALLY strange. I wonder why it's impacting only some users, and not all. (It would make sense that if it happens when BT is turned off, it would impact 100% of users.) Something else that's odd is that it happens with this, but not with the OTA. Even more strange is that it happens with that other "stock kitkat" firmware, as that essentially is the OTA with zero changes - it's even using the OTA provided bootloader and kernel.
I'm not really sure how to guide you on troubleshooting this. Anything I might suggest would take a few days of reverting and flashing various things, and I somehow doubt you'd want to spend the rest of your life doing random experiments for me. Perhaps you should try that poweruser firmware with things added one at a time - as you suggested.
Take care

I'm using TWRP 2.8.1.0 and I tried flashing the latest nightly as well as the stable version. I verified the MD5 signature after copying the .zip to my SD card. I also did a full wipe with TWRP.
My phone is the i727R with Gingerbread 2.3.5. Do I need to update to the latest official 4.x firmware from Rogers before I try to flash with AOSPA?
Any other suggestions or hints? This is my first time trying to flash a custom ROM, so I'm probably doing something wrong.
Figured it out, didn't have the latest radio installed. Might want to add that to the instructions for noobs like me. It's easy to overlook because the note regarding the firmware is under the "contributors" heading, separate from the basic instructions.
camera doesn't work
Camera is not working for me, but everything else is fine. And pretty darn smooth!
Issue installing
I am attempting to install this using CWM and the installation of the ROM goes perfectly but then when I go to install the GApps, I keep getting the insufficient space error. I have tried Mini, Micro and Nano as well as reformatted the internal memory. Thoughts? Sorry for the ignorant post.

To be clear, I am talking about the 5.0.2 ROM not the 4.4.4 ROM. The 5.0 thread would not let me post there and redirected me here for some reason.

I'm not sure if CWM is compatible with the GApps. I recommend using TWRP instead.
But I have used CWM for GApps for all my ROMs so far and it hasn't been an issue. Why would this be different. My understanding is that it is just a space issue so I am wanting to know if there is a way to get this space issue resolved when even the smallest GApps was still too large (supposedly).

Different recovery
Why did this rom install cyanogen recovery, this recovery sucks and I cant get to any of my backed up roms because it doesnt give me an option, how the hell do I get back to philz?
Trouble updating
I installed the 1/16/2015 version (PA 5.02) plus nano gapps. Most things seemed to work well, and I like the look and feel, but two or three times I have experienced periods where the battery drains even though connected to a charger. This morning, for example, the phone had been on the charger all night and was fully charged. Without disconnecting it from the charger, I checked my email and then put the phone back down. An hour or so later, the battery showed low 90's percent, even though it showed that it still was plugged in.
Yesterday I tried to update to the 2/2/2015 version. After making a backup with TWRP, I installed the 2/2 zip. I have flashed several ROMS, so I am not a complete noob, but I have never done a zip upgrade without factory reset. The upgrade seemed to succeed, but after booting, I had no gapps and my google accounts were missing. I then tried reflashing the same gapps and the systemUI fix. That got my apps back, more or less, but my google accounts still were missing and my home screen layouts all were lost. I then reverted to my pre-upgrade nandroid backup and tried again, by installing the 2/2 ROM upgrade zip, the gapps, and the systemUI fix all without rebooting in between. As before, after rebooting, my home screens were gone and (I think) my google accounts were gone. (By the way, I use the Google Launcher.)
Is upgrading from the 1/16 to 2/2 supposed to require reinstallation of gapps and adding back of accounts, home screen setups, etc? If it is then such an upgrade is almost as much hassle as a complete, clean install. Can someone tell me how this is supposed to work?
I installed the Lollipop rom (and the UI patch) and am still having "Can't connect to camera" issues. occasionally, rebooting the phone helps, but then if I do something like switch from the back camera to the front, it will stop working again.

There are issues with the gapps backup script, so the gapps package should be flashed with every ROM update. The loss of gapps most likely caused your accounts and home screen to be removed.

This should only happen when using the front facing camera. This will be fixed next update.
Bummer
Losing home screens and accounts every time an update is flashed is a bummer. Putting everything back (accounts, home screens, Power Toggles settings, ...) makes me hesitate to try an update very often.
You say the problem is with gapps. Does this same problem occur with all flavors of ROMs and all flavors of gapps? I ask because my previous experience with installing ROMs has been installation of new ROMs, not updates to one already installed.
Incorrect information in battery monitor - PA 5
I've been using (and generally liking) the PA 5 for several weeks. I have noted, however, that the breakdown of battery usage, as reported by the OS, seems inaccurate. As just one example, yesterday, I started a 15-minute call shortly after unplugging my phone from the charger, with a full battery. At the end of the call, I was down to about 90% battery. That seems reasonable to me, based on past experience. The battery monitor said almost all of my battery consumption was for Cell Standby, though, with only a little consumption assigned to actual phone use. I've seen some other examples where the usage breakdown did not seem right, although I did not document them and do not recall exact details.
Am I correct that this is incorrect behavior? Are others experiencing this (or does anyone pay attention to it), either on this ROM or on other ROMs?

How does one go about installing xposed for this? I saw that you need to use the "helper", but i cant find any info on that.

Xposed has a couple of bad side effects at this point, so before doing anything you need to use Titanium or something similar to Freeze (this basically what the "helper" does):
LGSmartCover
Weather
Weather Theme
WeatherPlatform
Then you can install xposed as in the thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
However, there is still one more bug to keep in mind: Xposed will crash the Tethering and Networks menu. There is no fix for that yet, but as a workaround you can download some apps from the play store (like Mobile Network Settings), to shortcut around the menu that force closes.

Great, thanks! Shortly after posting this, I actually tracked down the zip from the standard LG G3 forum and flashed that, which seems (so far) to have worked.
Do you, or anybody for that matter, know by chance any confirmed working xposed modules that work on the stock rom? I tried a couple lollipop-approved modules and so far nothing has worked. It's been a while since I've used xposed, but back when I did I think I only installed gravitybox.
I attached the .zip in case anybody else needs it. Just flash that after flashing the xposed .zip and then install the xposed installer apk

There is a similar all-in-one tweaker for the G3 called G3 TweaksBox. It is partially working in Lollipop. See post #3 here

Hey guys i'm having the same problem as louveuass the only way to get this to work is going back to stock TOT and then root twrp and flash this? i'm coming from illusion and i just don't see navigation panel or notification, it's just wierd! i'll try again today and if not i'll go back to TOT.
Thanks if anyone know
So does this ROM do the "I'M FULLY CHARGED" battery notification thing?
Re: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/help/qa-d850-20f-stock-rom-debloated-t3069026/post60062058
So does this ROM do the "I'M FULLY CHARGED" battery notification thing? I switched to AOSP just to get away from that, but I prefer stock for the camera.
For those who don't know what I'm talking about, the original stock ROM turns on the screen and fires a notification when the battery is fully charged, so if you have your phone plugged in next to your bed, it'll turn on the screen and buzz every time it drops to 99% and then charges back to 100%, which means every couple minutes, all through the night. No notification setting fixes this, only putting the phone on silent works, and that solution doesn't work for me, nor do I want to mess around with Tasker. I also don't want to unplug my phone when it's charged and start the day with less than a full charge.
Thanks!
Just wanted to say thanks! I have been waiting for a cleaned version of stock Lollipop for the AT&T LG G3 for what feels like months now! I flashed this and the modem file after doing a backup and cleaning everything up first. So far it is working great!
Appreciate it!
So over night I have developed a problem, it's seemed to have added a +1 on front of my numbers, so I get texts from friends but when I reply it says invalid number, is there a setting for this?
Also can we use some super duper Kernels on this rom? Or because it's stock we can't change Kernel's?...
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
running [Stock][Rooted] D850 20f Stock ROM Debloated rom
i love this rom great battery life everything is very snappy i have only found one glitch which is whenever i take a screenshot its just get stuck on the notification pannel saying saving screenshot only way i can get rid of it is by rebooting the device anyone else have issues with this........
Tethering?
Is tethering supposed to work with this ROM? When I try to enable it, I get the same message I did with the stock ROM directing me to AT&T's website.
No system dock or buttons
I flashed a stock rooted rom on my lg g3 and not the menu buttons and system dock aren't showing up..

Unable to download any file
Hi,
I just bought this used LG G3 phone which has this image installed. It was an ATT phone but I am using it on T-mobile. Most of the things working except this one.
I am unable to download any file (pdf etc..) from any browser. Seems like download folder is locked somehow and I am unable to delete any files from there. I tried changing permission for download folder but that too failed. Screenshots are also not getting saved. Camera picture seems to be getting saved.
Please advice how to fix this issue.

Not sure but sounds like it may be an sdcard permissions issue. Take a look at the OP here and see if the fix suggested for sdcard permissions works.
Just to Clarify
I have the LG G3 D850 the ATT Model
So in order to install the new ROM:
1. I put the ROM.zip (1.1GB) and the Modem.zip on the SD Card
2. Also the Super SU on the SD Card
3. Boot the Phone on TWRP
4. Chosse install the three archives: ROM, Modem and SuperSU
5. After the reboot, clean the cache
Excuse me for ask, but I,m not a expertise in the matter.
Also I have more questions:
1. I already instal the lollipop from cyanogen but the phone doesnt work well. ¿There is a problem with that?
2. I must first back up the contacts, ¿Right?
3. I just need the 1.1GB ROM, ¿Right?
Thank you for response this questions.
Flashed all 3 files with a clean install. Only problem I've come across is my phone will no longer vibrate from a text or when I use my keyboard. AT&T LG G3 D850
