Did you flash jbx?
Had the problem in slim from 3.1 version onwards

I don't know about the Atrix 2 builds, but on the newer builds of slim for other devices you have to enable root under settings/developer options.
I didnt installed jbx nor did i flashed a update.... Tried fixing root using bmm still didnt work.... Nw also tried rooting using adb root file while on ics... No change...... Same error again..... NY1 KNW HW TO ROOT ON KITKAT ROM ????

I am using slimkat since build 4 and never have issue like that. I used both JBX kernel and stock kernel. Both are working great.
Maybe it is time for you to install a new build?
By the way, you might need to check root access using other app instead of Tiback up.
I use tiback-up in my other device and it does not work. I flash SuperSu and then it finally worked again.
Maybe you phone still has root access but just tibackup won't regcognize it. check root access first. Then try flash SuperSu.
You last choice is clean reinstall a new build
I hav upgraded to d latest version of slimkat....reverted bak to 3.6 as battery life was poor on latest build.... Also tried latest jbx and that 27/2....due to force close and black screen issues(sometimes)....removed it...... 1st thing i did wen i lost root access was to install superuser app and also tried root checker app (root access had no prob)....root apps dont work.... Den tried fixing it with bmm (install root access Nd fix permission option).... Nothng wrkd.... Den checked the developer setting (root access to apps and adb was there.... No prob).... Den i went bak to ics..... Tried root. Exe thing again..... Still no success.... Atlast i restored ics using bmm......all my settings and custom roms got destroyed...... (but gained root access bak after restore).... Nw no prob....... Anywz ty so much...... I'm not sure, d prob might be in install root and fix permission option.... That caused error in superuser app.....
Using slimkat 3.6 for (almost 2 months)

Find out CF root for your phone from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253 and root it per instructions on same thread.
Then go ahead and decide on what next ROM you want to install. GO to dev thread for that particular ROM and install by following ALL instructions on that thread. Search Q&A thread in general section for that particular ROM for any questions that you might have. Post question in that thread if you cannot find answers to your questions.

Unable to Root after upgrade to I9003JPKPM
Kies updated my firmware recently to I9003JPKPM and I lost my root access. Previously I was using amit bagaria's universal cf-root.
After the firmware was installed, i again tried to root the universal cf-root. Root was working. But I lost WIFI access. Wifi does not start anymore.
To fix this, I tried unrooting the phone from the menu after pressing Vol Up + Home + Power. It told phone was unrooted. But wifi was not working. I again went back to CWM menu to Root it back.
No matter what I do, now I am unable to get Root back. The menu shows I'm rooted.
But when I go and start a priviledged application, I get an error:
Sample error
Code:
CWM Manager needs SuperUser access to function! If you have SU installed, make sure CWM Manager is not blocked, then reboot and try again.
I tried flashing universal cf-root again but unable to get root access!

Now my phone is messed up by various trials of installing universal cf-root by amit. To return back to a stock kernel, is repartitioning required?
A noob question. Is repartitioning done using a latona pit file? I remember using one when I had switched from froyo to GB.

OK. I did a repartition using latona.pit file, then installed XXKPE, then installed XXLE4 on top of it. I used it for a day and also installed many apps. Now is it OK if i flash bam kernel on top of it? I had read somewhere that bam kernel should only be installed on a fresh stock ROM on its first reboot after flashing. Is it true? or do I have to repeat all the steps XXKPE -> XXLE4 -> bam kernel

You can flash bam's kernel directly.
Edit: it usually is okay, and your data shouldn't be wiped either.

Sweet! I flashed the kernel! Altough the first boot after flash took some time and it rebooted automagically, no further issues observed till now
Now that I'm rooted, I would like to change the bootanimation to a custom one. Can I follow this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161354 The instructions are for XXKPE. Will it work on my XXLE4 + bck custom kernel?
I just did the update to Android 4.0.4 through Kies today. As I've determined I'm not a fan of Touchwhiz, I'd like to root my Skyrocket.
Does anyone know if the root process for 2.3.6 would also work for this version? If not, does anyone know where I could find how to root the device?
Search is your freind. LOL even thou it says for ics leak, it works on the factory stuff as well as GB 2.3.6

I rooted the stock ICS earlier today via this method, and can confirm that it works.
I used this method on UCLF5 and root explorer routinely has problems mounting system. Not sure why.
You need to make sure u have busybox installed. I know that works for me, for i used to have the same issues. It didnt matter if it was GB or ics. Iam sure others will disagree, but just telling how i fixed that problem on my phone.

I need a little help here, Noobie that I am.....I had rooted sr brought it back to stock and then upgraded it to ics 4.04 stock. Then rooted it again using the methods found in this thread. I got it to take after the third time and it show superuser in the apps section and I can open it. I downloaded pro copy of titanium pro and the free version but it tells me the phone is not rooted:crying: I and that I need to ensure I have busybox. I download that also and i still cannot get titanium to knowledge the root. Any suggestions would be most helpful. I would like to freeze some of the bloatware as I did when I had gingerbread 2.36 and had titanium running.
update: used the newest version of superuser and installed busybox installer and still no go. I downloaded root check and it says not rooted. guess when I get home tonight I will re-root again....

How to root without using PC or flashing kernals ? in my SGS2 there is a zip that I can flash through stock recovery without having to flash unsecure kernal and CWM and then back to stock
with the last official update I've lost the root permission
so is it possible to have root installed through temporarily custom recovery via the stock one ? i.e without having to change anything in the rom except for root ?
thanks in advance .
Use ExynosAbuse.

yes , thanks alot
Just be aware that the new 4.1.2 JB official rom from Germany no longer allows you to use the exynos exploit. It's better to download the rom then install using Mobile ODIN. This allows you to tick ever root and keep root...
So I was running AOKP 4.3 and I was having too many issues with wifi tether/bluetooth connections which I need for every day. So I went back to my AOKP 4.2.2 backup that I had saved. For some reason this caused me to lose root.
What would be the easiest way to me to get root access again on my phone?
U didn't loose root it got how tp say hidden.. Go under settings/development options/enable root.. Or try to flash superuser zip

brother just flash super su zip file from recovery and everything will be fine
If you want to make root permanent then open titanium backup hold super su and select " convert to system app ". By this you will not loose root again until you flash a new rom. Factory reset your phone and see still you have root
