[Q] How to root JB without PC ? - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How to root without using PC or flashing kernals ? in my SGS2 there is a zip that I can flash through stock recovery without having to flash unsecure kernal and CWM and then back to stock
with the last official update I've lost the root permission
so is it possible to have root installed through temporarily custom recovery via the stock one ? i.e without having to change anything in the rom except for root ?
thanks in advance .

Use ExynosAbuse.

yes , thanks alot

Just be aware that the new 4.1.2 JB official rom from Germany no longer allows you to use the exynos exploit. It's better to download the rom then install using Mobile ODIN. This allows you to tick ever root and keep root...

From all the threads in general, it would seem the update does unroot your phone. Also from those threads it would seem flashing a custom recovery and, subsequently, the su zip will give you root back. I don't know of a pre-rooted version out yet.
i just upgraded to ics a little while ago using rom manager, i had to go back to stock 2.3.3 which unrooted my phone but did not lock the phone . I was wondering the same thing and that is how the heck do i root my phone now lol. my phone still shows the unlocked lock on the boot up screen under "Google" but i dont have SU permissions anymore. if I still have su.zip file and cwm can i just use fastboot and flash the img and su.zip ?
What if I don't have my original files to roll back to stock GB? I just downloaded the version Koush put up on his twitter...will that allow me to flash in CWM and update?

Download stock images from from manager then update to 2.3.6 then you can flash the one from koush's twitter.
Root will be lost after update. Currently flashing su.zip wont work. Still trying to figure it out.

We might just have to re*root when they release the info.

Let me ask you also, I'm currently running Alpha13 w/ Francisco.Franco kernel. Is the official that much smoother that I should lose my root?

Find out CF root for your phone from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331253 and root it per instructions on same thread.
Then go ahead and decide on what next ROM you want to install. GO to dev thread for that particular ROM and install by following ALL instructions on that thread. Search Q&A thread in general section for that particular ROM for any questions that you might have. Post question in that thread if you cannot find answers to your questions.

Unable to Root after upgrade to I9003JPKPM
Kies updated my firmware recently to I9003JPKPM and I lost my root access. Previously I was using amit bagaria's universal cf-root.
After the firmware was installed, i again tried to root the universal cf-root. Root was working. But I lost WIFI access. Wifi does not start anymore.
To fix this, I tried unrooting the phone from the menu after pressing Vol Up + Home + Power. It told phone was unrooted. But wifi was not working. I again went back to CWM menu to Root it back.
No matter what I do, now I am unable to get Root back. The menu shows I'm rooted.
But when I go and start a priviledged application, I get an error:
Sample error
Code:
CWM Manager needs SuperUser access to function! If you have SU installed, make sure CWM Manager is not blocked, then reboot and try again.
I tried flashing universal cf-root again but unable to get root access!

Now my phone is messed up by various trials of installing universal cf-root by amit. To return back to a stock kernel, is repartitioning required?
A noob question. Is repartitioning done using a latona pit file? I remember using one when I had switched from froyo to GB.

OK. I did a repartition using latona.pit file, then installed XXKPE, then installed XXLE4 on top of it. I used it for a day and also installed many apps. Now is it OK if i flash bam kernel on top of it? I had read somewhere that bam kernel should only be installed on a fresh stock ROM on its first reboot after flashing. Is it true? or do I have to repeat all the steps XXKPE -> XXLE4 -> bam kernel
i have no success at all some step by step to me? how can i cwm works perfect and install custom rom? im now on xxkpe

You can flash bam's kernel directly.
Edit: it usually is okay, and your data shouldn't be wiped either.

Sweet! I flashed the kernel! Altough the first boot after flash took some time and it rebooted automagically, no further issues observed till now
Now that I'm rooted, I would like to change the bootanimation to a custom one. Can I follow this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161354 The instructions are for XXKPE. Will it work on my XXLE4 + bck custom kernel?

Lost root!?!?!? Help!

So I have twrp and slim Kat 4.4 on my tab 2 and I tried installing xposed framework and it says I don't have root... then I downloaded root checker and it said the same. No idea how I lost root but what's the best way to get it back without starting all over?

That's what I was asking, what's the easiest way to root manually?
Tapatalk Nexus 5 Master Race
So you've rooted that bad boy previously, right? If so, on Android Andi's Omni build you have to flash SuperSU after ROM and gapps. Maybe Slim is the same?

brother just flash super su zip file from recovery and everything will be fine
If you want to make root permanent then open titanium backup hold super su and select " convert to system app ". By this you will not loose root again until you flash a new rom. Factory reset your phone and see still you have root

[Q] is there any way to upgrade the android version on a device with locked bl?

Hi guys
Lately I have rooted my xperia mini and installed CWM using xparts. Anyways my bootloader is still locked and i'd like to upgrade it to 4.1.2 at least. So is there any way of doing that?
I'm using stock Ics rom and stock kernel.
If there are custom roms available for your device, you could flash them with cwm

Isn't it impossible to flash costum roms on a locked bl
device? I was kinda wondering if I could flash a stock sony jb kernel. Could that work?
If your cwm is for locked bl.. Then there shouldn't be a problem to flash a custom Rom. The Sony kernel your talking about should be supported by your device. I advice you to check your device forum
