Sound enhancer from the Sprint-exclusive 'Harman/Kardon HTC One M8' (link)
Download this file and follow instructions. After flashing this, and flashing the adsp firmware zip, and disabling boomsound in the customize/ACC/default.xml, everything is working fine.

nearly..
here's the post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52294479&postcount=2810
it's a flashable zip which makes xml edits to enable harman sound and adds equalizer files.
I was wondering would this be safe / would it work to flash on our Verizon M8s??

I asked the guy who did it 'lyapota' and I'm waiting on a response.
in the thread he said to try this:
Yep, it works on my side. Try next steps:
1. Flash mod.
2. Reboot phone and leave him about 5 minutes.
3. Don't plug headphones.
4. Try ring sound, notifications sound.
5. Try player with speaker.
6. Try player with headphones.
I flashed this mod and I lost all my data connections. I'm on Viper 1.4.1 Btw. Selecting mobile data in settings and it removed all my data connection options other than roaming. Glad I made a nandroid before flashing this. Anyone else have this issue?

Ok so I think it's safe to say it won't work 'out of the box' for us, I believe VZW may need a slightly different XML, I'm trying to contact the dev who came up with this mod.
Thanks you two for testing this

I see people in the ViperOneM8 thread on the HTC One M8 forums talking about an H/K firmware, enabling H/K and disabling Boomsound, and the next Viper update possibly fixing the loss of Data on VZW/UK devices after having flashed the H/K xml mod... so I mean I've only just looked a little but it sounds like there's a new FW that comes with the H/K sprint device??
check this thread, page 295 and forward: LINK
EDIT: Ah yes, here's the thread: SPRINT HK FIRMWARE/RUU
By no means should anyone flash this, but just saying, it exists. We just need this firmware or at least the working bits from it flashable on our device.. right?

I saw that too. I'm by no means a dev, but yeah i gathered that you need a. that firmware version and b. either a sprint cid or super cid.

I tried manually placing all the bits EXCEPT default.XML in the proper places (with proper permissions) but no dice. I did go into our stock default.XML and set Harman and Music Channel to true too.
That said, I still have data. This is on cleanrom.
So, it seems there are other bits inside the default.xml that makes it work in addition to other settings that break our data. Sometime later tonight I'll try and compare the two and see what I can come up with.

It's like line 136 I believe
As far as I know, I think the vital parts needed for the actual HK functionality are in the new 1.56 sprint HK firmware :/ we probably gotta wait till someone here gets that as a FW zip for our VZW phone.
I could be wrong idk, I'm not a dev

Probably... Maybe its a difference in the settings app or something. I didn't even check to see if applying the provided default XML would make the option appear, but I'm assuming it doesn't.
Sucks because after updating my FW boomsound seems to be much louder/distorted than it did when I was on release FW. Its possible it was always that way but I doubt it. I'm very sensitive to loudness distortion.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using Tapatalk
Someone please try taking your default xml (Verizon) and setting line 136 (I believe) to support Harmon to true. If that line isn't there take if from a sprint default xml (JUST THAT LINE). Then swap the default xml you modified with the one in the zip. Worst that can happen is you don't have hk audio truly enabled, just the setting. But it shouldn't hurt your data. Please nand, try this, and report

I think this may be a solution.. haven't confirmed it yet tho.
flash whatever mb1 rom you want
download apn backup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.riteshsahu.APNBackupRestore&hl=en
backup your apn, install multiwindow, then restore apn?
I've read its some hex edits that need to be done to the multiwindow zip for verizon, so i'm not sure if this will work

Thanks for taking the time to post a possible fix
Most of the smali codes are the same in both ROMs but some resource IDs are slightly different (search for 0x1040***), that might be the reason why some function are not working.

Minor/Major Issue
On CR6 R2, clean install, no other mods at the time - this broke MMS. SMS worked fine but couldn't send a picture (alert was "invalid destination address"). Dirty flashed CR6 R2 over the top and that cleared MMS up so I figured I'd try again, no joy. Same issue. I also had the same problem as the others with Global Roaming data issue. Too bad, looked very, very cool..
Sorry, should have also noted I'm on Verizon -

Exact same issues here. This is the last mod I will ever need on my CR6r2 (AOSP theme 1.9), as I surprisingly found it quite useful when I was on GalaxyMOD and JellyBeans build 9.

Besides the modem stuff thanks to racing19969 here, it doesn't look like anything is really around for this - though given all the other fun options I'm not surprised Regardless, I figured I should actually do something for the Blaze as it's been a while so here I am!
I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE!
I am normally a bit verbose on things, but I really didn't do much here. The below files were all pulled from either dumps from the phone or pulled from the UVMB1 tar I got from sammobile.com.
The odexed version I did NOTHING to (except fashion it into something CWM flashable), which means it is unrooted and it includes the stock kernel. The deodexed/zipaligned version includes SuperSU v1.34 (found here) as well as busybox (v1.20.2 thanks to imnuts). I also went through and removed 3 apks, 1 lib, and some smali bits in Settings.apk and framework.jar that were related to carrier iq. It's actually rendered dormant by T-Mobile, but better safe than sorry. Also - this one does not include a kernel as I don't want to force it on folks (even though it's likely a good idea!).
I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS (GOOD OR BAD) AS A RESULT OF FLASHING OR ATTEMPTING TO FLASH WHAT IS POSTED HERE!
Usual rules apply - you should be cautious whenever you flash. Make sure to wipe data/factory reset to avoid issues. Flash in recovery.
As the Blaze is now privy to a number of AOSP-flavored ROMs, remember that you will need to flash the stock UVMB1 kernel if you aren't already using it. Others might work but I haven't tested, so YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Installation instructions:
- Backup your current setup/data
- Download file and place on sdcard
- Boot into CWM/TWRP recovery
- Recommended to wipe data/factory reset in CWM/TWRP recovery
- Select and install the .zip you put on your sdcard
And without further ado - here are the downloads:
---UVMB1 STOCK FILES---
BLOATED UVMB1 DEODEXED ROOTED BUSYBOX-ED
md5: 8B2E2C2E8C79890683745A3F8EE83450
BLOATED UVMB1 ODEXED UNROOTED w/ KERNEL
md5: 56AF8F5118550B6DDF430AE167C43343
STOCK UVMB1 KERNEL
md5: 8187DD61083FDF7DDBDD0B1A9357B5FD
Enjoy!
Also - I did not get a chance to try this out on my wife's phone yet. I am fairly confident everything will work just fine, and recent reports seem to support such a confidence, but even so I feel I should put an "I haven't tested this" disclaimer in here

Would something like crossbreeder or nos somehow remove it (I believe I'm running one of them)? I'd hate to have to reflash...

You would think such things would be reported if that were the case, but you never know. It is an option (and functional) on other roms, yes? Sometimes the Settings options are dependent on certain conditions being met - so if it tried to poll the nfc adapter for example and got no response maybe it wouldn't show... I really dunno though, I haven't looked very thoroughly to be honest.

Here's what I have in settings>more (images attatched). One image is at the top of settings>more and there is the 'mobile networks' missing from that screenshot. The second image shows that. No NFC checkbox.
Keep in mind even if I run stock I make my own... adjustments... I will start over from the beginning and if I find out where I went wrong I will report so others will know.
I'm using the BLOATED UVMB1 DEODEXED ROOTED BUSYBOX-ED with the stock kernel linked below it and still no NFC option in settings>more. I have downloaded the files again and checked md5's and still nothing. Like I said, it's nothing major as I don't use it.
EDIT: I was going to try the odexed version to check it but got a status 7. something with the boot partition mmcblk0p8

You need one of the newer sims, call T-Mobile. For more info, do a search on xda or Google...it seems to be somewhat common issue.
I wasn't sure if trickdroid had a modified framework2.jar, that's why I wasn't sure if it would work, but I can modify almost any framework2.jar if someone had a particular one they want done, just post it for me.

Love to see threads like this
For the data/cell, move over the libril* file(s) in /system/lib from our Verizon stock ROM to the GPE ROM (do one at a time) and see if that fixes the issue with data. Also may want to verify the build.prop references the appropriate RIL ffilename if different from in GPE build.prop.
For SMS/MMS, try moving the *apns* files from /system/etc on our Verizon stock rom to GPE and again see if that fixes the SMS/MMS issue. If that doesn't resolve it, it's probably buried in the framework-res.apk under /xml/. You could try extracting the contents of the Verizon framework-res.apk and simply copy over the /xml/apns.xml into the GPE framework-res.apk.
Biggest advice I can give you is only move and test 1 file at a time. Sounds Tedious but it will save you sooo much time in the long run.
Good to see you working on this

If you needed the mount points for our device, I pulled them a while back.

[MOUNTPOINTS] HTC One M8
Not sure if they are different from the base device in which this gpe base came from

I was waiting for this! Thanks for kicking it off, I will be more than happy to test for you when it gets to that point.

I think this will make a good base to help with further GPE development on the Verizon M8!

It is not the cdma or the gsm radio.......basically it is like the drivers for it. The hardware it there and it works, but without the drivers you can't use it. But we will have it working soon...I'll be on it all night and tomorrow since I finally get a day off. So unless someone beats me to it you can expect most of it to be working tomorrow.
Hey, you beat me to it! I started working on a GPE port last night, but didn't get anything finished. I'm downloading this now, and have gobs of experience fixing data between carrier versions of HTC devices - down to rewriting most of telephony-common.jar from scratch for my MIUI port.
In short...today is my birthday so I'll be out celebrating, but I'll see what I can do with this if time allows. I've got a good idea which bins and libs are required to make data happen, so I'll see if I can't help out.

I have been copying .lib files from stock to GPE without luck. Since this is my main device I have to be careful about how much down time this phone has

There's been occasions where the drivers have to be written from scratch for HTC because they are not open source. Hopefully we don't get stuck there

I ordered a SIM adapater. Once it comes in I can swap between my M8, S4 and Galaxy Nexus. That will let me work and get this thing going faster as I Do not need to worry about my phone being down. 2 M8s would be even better though
This wouold be aweseome @scrosler would be good at this I know it has to do with porting modems and such he needs to stop slacking
I'm a little confused, now that I have S-OFF and done superCID, can I install Viper from the International version?

Apparently Turge is working on a Viper port to the VZW.
While the International version may flash, I would doubt you would have fully working device. I know I would not risk it.
That's what I needed to know. Thank you

I flashed the international Viper and all worked aside the WIFI, same with Maximus HD and ARHD. They all work just fine aside the wifi. I am on ARHD atm. Checking if there are other things tht don't work. I changed the CID to 1111111

But it seems it is not a "guaranteed" result some people are getting errors so you DO WANT to wait until they add proper Verizon support.

The fact that this is possible, two days after S-OFF. Makes it so cool.

Looking forward to viper on the m8. Been my dd on my m7 since I discovered it and absolutely love it. And I am never happy with a Rom for more than a month or two before wanting something else.
So I gave it a shot and I got it to boot up, but I got no data! Bummer!
