[Flashable T-Mobile wifi calling][Sense 4+ and Sense 5] - HTC One S

I finally got wifi calling extracted, ported and flashable. Currently for "stock" custom Sense 4+ ROMs and Sense 5 as well.
Haven't tried trickdroid or viper, but i'll get a version for viper posted soon.
Make a nandroid first, then flash the appropriate zip in recovery. Let me know if there are any issues.

I'm sure this will be very useful for all the TMoUS users that miss the ability of WiFi calling on Sense 5 ROMs

Trying this out on TrickDroid sense 5. Will report back.

But I decompiled our framework2.jar and added the necessary smali to it. Otherwise wifi calling would work, but would not connect to regular phone network, kept scanning the Sim every 30secs or so.
I'm gonna try with an aosp ROM just to see what happens, maybe collect that bounty:beer:
I don't even have T-Mobile, but everyone said it can't be done and I like a challenge, just couldn't get it out of my head, same with the small apps and the volume cursor on my ROM. My first adventures in the horrible land of smali.

You need one of the newer sims, call T-Mobile. For more info, do a search on xda or Google...it seems to be somewhat common issue.
I wasn't sure if trickdroid had a modified framework2.jar, that's why I wasn't sure if it would work, but I can modify almost any framework2.jar if someone had a particular one they want done, just post it for me.

Way way way prefer smali to APKTool, doesn't even work for me. I had fun removing this tweak from my ROM, took effort but was worth it in the end.

Well, I can safely say this doesn't work on ASOP ROMs, ended up really dorking up my HOS running Odyssey. But I'm hopefully it can somehow be modified for them as well. TMOUS is horrible in my area....but the pricing is great.

TMobile Theme Chooser

UPDATE: Doesn't work, but maybe it could be made to work? See last posts.
I just have a question about installing the theme chooser on any rooted and deoxed ROM. Is it possible? I'm running one of jboxers roms. I saw one thread here at xda about it but the guy was asking about sense roms.
It can be installed on any ROM based off of the CM7 source. (I think it can at least, I've never tried it on MIUI but you don't need it there)

What needs to be changed in the rom? Is it edits to the framework? If I can do it, it would be an interesting project to try.
It would be cool to see a stockish ROM with that kind if theme support. I did read elsewhere it needs some frameworks found in cm7.

Try to push it to a stock room with adb. It will fail, and somewhere it will say why. Fix the why.
I haven't got the slightest idea as to what exactly the theme chooser relies on.

I'd be happy to help with this. I have adb installed and am wanting to learn ROM development anyways. I can figure out how to work adb this weekend and try then. Does anyone know where I can get a theme chooser apk?
One more question, does theme chooser need adw launcher?

Search Google for "T-Mobile Theme Chooser." It was code written by T-Mobile for their phones. That is what CM7 and others use to implement this feature. It requires the framework to be decompiled and recompiled with support code for the theme chooser. It is just not installing a program. it is very technical and not easy to do.

Tried Install
So I gave it a shot and this is what I end up with. I'll google around to see what this means, if it means anything more than its face value might suggest.
pkg: /data/local/tmp/ThemeChooser.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE]
Edit: Looked around some more and found this thread on the error:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=640592&page=54
To quote Brut.all there "I think "INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE" is straightforward: Android refuses to install apk with UID if it has different certs than already installed app."
and Daneshm90 "Yup so u got 2 options,
1. Find all the apks that have the same uid and resign them with the same keys
2. Remove the uid from the manifest and hope it works"
I am not sure exactly where to go from here. Is there a tool that would let me open up the APK and see the UID?

framework changes
would it be possible to insert only those specific entries to the framework and make this work? its really the only reaon anymore i prefer to use a rom, considering 2.3.3 has fixed many of the bugs that originally made me switch.

In theory yes, but if you were good enough at ROM development to be able to do so, you wouldn't be asking these questions. Even if you want to learn, start with something easier.

well it just so happens that i have the p500 factory 2.3.3 flashed on my p509 now right now, since they dont have an official tmo version yet. but it is european based, so what im wondering is, would that already be incorporated into the "ROM" inces its european, or maybe not conidering the p500 isnt a t-mobile phone, and both prerequisites arent met, 1. european firmware, and 2. t-mobile branded

On the Galaxy II on tmo the wifi calling is built in the rom and you have to have the sim card the supports the wifi calling but this is ICS and I could be mistaken .

Using CWM to write kernels.

So I found this in the updater script for this CM9 port for the EVO 4G LTE: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683384
"package_extract_file("boot.img", "/dev/block/mmcblk0p21");"
looks like we can stop using fastboot to write kernels? Or is this something we already knew?
PS: fiddling with this CM9 port, I can get it to boot up to the CM9 bootanimation on my HOX, then it gets stuck. Just needed to change the partition it was writing /system to and change the asserts in the updater script...

Love to see threads like this
For the data/cell, move over the libril* file(s) in /system/lib from our Verizon stock ROM to the GPE ROM (do one at a time) and see if that fixes the issue with data. Also may want to verify the build.prop references the appropriate RIL ffilename if different from in GPE build.prop.
For SMS/MMS, try moving the *apns* files from /system/etc on our Verizon stock rom to GPE and again see if that fixes the SMS/MMS issue. If that doesn't resolve it, it's probably buried in the framework-res.apk under /xml/. You could try extracting the contents of the Verizon framework-res.apk and simply copy over the /xml/apns.xml into the GPE framework-res.apk.
Biggest advice I can give you is only move and test 1 file at a time. Sounds Tedious but it will save you sooo much time in the long run.
Good to see you working on this

It is not the cdma or the gsm radio.......basically it is like the drivers for it. The hardware it there and it works, but without the drivers you can't use it. But we will have it working soon...I'll be on it all night and tomorrow since I finally get a day off. So unless someone beats me to it you can expect most of it to be working tomorrow.
Hey, you beat me to it! I started working on a GPE port last night, but didn't get anything finished. I'm downloading this now, and have gobs of experience fixing data between carrier versions of HTC devices - down to rewriting most of telephony-common.jar from scratch for my MIUI port.
In short...today is my birthday so I'll be out celebrating, but I'll see what I can do with this if time allows. I've got a good idea which bins and libs are required to make data happen, so I'll see if I can't help out.

I ordered a SIM adapater. Once it comes in I can swap between my M8, S4 and Galaxy Nexus. That will let me work and get this thing going faster as I Do not need to worry about my phone being down. 2 M8s would be even better though
This wouold be aweseome @scrosler would be good at this I know it has to do with porting modems and such he needs to stop slacking

Viper ROM with superCID

I'm a little confused, now that I have S-OFF and done superCID, can I install Viper from the International version?

Apparently Turge is working on a Viper port to the VZW.
While the International version may flash, I would doubt you would have fully working device. I know I would not risk it.
That's what I needed to know. Thank you

I downloaded the ROM, the updater-script does have Verizon coding, so the ROM *should* (FLASH AT OWN RISK)

Although, I doubt things will work 100%
Thanks

I flashed the international Viper and all worked aside the WIFI, same with Maximus HD and ARHD. They all work just fine aside the wifi. I am on ARHD atm. Checking if there are other things tht don't work. I changed the CID to 1111111

But it seems it is not a "guaranteed" result some people are getting errors so you DO WANT to wait until they add proper Verizon support.

The fact that this is possible, two days after S-OFF. Makes it so cool.

Looking forward to viper on the m8. Been my dd on my m7 since I discovered it and absolutely love it. And I am never happy with a Rom for more than a month or two before wanting something else.
So I gave it a shot and I got it to boot up, but I got no data! Bummer!
