1. Do Qi Chargers also have the function where it stops charging the device after reaching 100% and lets it drop down a few, then recharge? Or does it over charge.
2. Does leaving the Qi Charger on without a phone on it or anything dangerous in any way? And does it use much electricity?
Your battery asks for charge when it's low and pulls it at the rate a charger can supply. If it's charged it shouldn't be asking for anything so should theoretically be fine

The qi standard requires that the device and charger talk to each other to regulate charging. A proper qi charger will always drop down to trickle mode when the device is fully charged. Also, the charger will only function when a qi device is present, so it's perfectly safe to leave the charger plugged in 24/7. Electricity usage should be minimal, although the charger will constantly scan for devices, so it won't be zero.
Having said that, just like with A/C adapters, cheap, generic chargers may not fully implement the qi standards, which can result in damage to your device, so bargain chargers aren't always your best bet. Also, there is a known issue with the Tylt Vu (which may or may not have been fixed by now), where it sometimes gets stuck in full charge mode, resulting in excessive battery heat and/or damaged devices, so I'd steer clear of that particular charger until they find and fix that issue.
1. Yes, Qi chargers (brand names, not something from Hong Kong Ebay) trickle charge. Meaning that they charge fully, let it drop a few, and charge back up.
2. Leaving the Qi charger on the phone does not harm it at all. In fact, if it did, I wouldn't have bought a Qi charger.
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but doesn't your phone's charging curcuit control the trickle charging?

I just wanted to share the chargers I use to everyone.
I have no problems with battery life mainly because I carry at least one charger with me everywhere I go.
Currently, I'm using 3 chargers. Sometimes I carry all 3 with me.
1. The Ultimate Charger
2. Monaco Solar Charger
3. TMobile Battery Boost
Anyway...
1st charger. Nice and simple. USB Charger that can plug into an outlet to charge your phone through a cable. Bonus is a builtin 1340mAh battery. Not enough to fully charge the phone, but it definitely helps me out a lot. Always helpful to have a outlet charger that can store some battery.
2nd charger. A common solar charger for the situations where I'm always out in the sun. Not much to say about this. Free energy is always a nice thing right? 1800 mAh battery too.
3rd charger. My latest addition to my charger family and quickly becoming a favorite. Builtin USB and MicroUSB cables now makes it so I no longer need to carry out even my retractable cables. 1700mAh battery inside. I think of it as a charging cable with a battery inside. Lots of uses for this. I can just plug 1 end to a computer and another end to my phone to charge my phone if the battery inside has run out. Charger just became a simple cable replacement. Or unplug phone and it'll charge the charger instead.
What's nice is how it can be used with the other two chargers. Say I'm no where near a computer, all my chargers are dead, but there's an outlet. Plug the 3rd charger into the 1st charger and have the 1st charger in an outlet. It'll charge the 3rd charger or my phone if that's connected to my phone. Replace 1st charger with the 2nd charger if I'm no where near an outlet but its a sunny day at a nearby park. Able to use the 3rd charger as a cable between the solar and my phone or just use it to charge my stuff.
Think I'm starting to repeat myself, but yes, those are the chargers I use and I don't have any battery problems.
Sorry, I never proofread or format what I write.
I'm looking for more chargers to use. Thinking about a good kinetic charger. Any recommendations?
I prefer the #2. Monaco Solar Charger.
I didn't get a charger with my OnePlus One. No major deal as I have a few USB chargers around but each that I've tried so far has had problems charging the phone.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Thanks,
James
Yes. The phone basically needs the included charger to charge. I think this phones charger is 2amp instead of the normal 1amp. My external battery packs won't even charge the device at all. It stops charging after the lights on the battery pack turn off. Works perfectly on every other device I've ever used it on.

Yeah the stock charger is 2A, depending what phone you have prior to this most chargers are usually 1.2-1.3A.
I believe some of the Galaxies, N7 give you 2A as well.
I personally use my 3rd party charger to charge the OPO. Works fine and is 1.8A, I love the 2A and all but that OPO USB is way too short, maybe I'll interswap them with another USB.
OP if u need a cheap charger and works well, http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo.../hands-best-fastest-cheapest-nexus-5-t2729066 try looking into that. ~$5 and they'll ship you two of them. Or get in contact with OPO and tell them you didn't get a charger. The charger should have been added to cart for $0.00 with your order.
i think you need at least 1.5 amps to charge the phone but i dont have it yet so don't take my word
You don't need the original charge to charge it. I have charged mine on various chargers and it works fine. If the charger is less that 2A though it charges slowly. I use a charging brick from my HP Touchpad (2A) and whatever usb cable I have around and it works just fine.
Anyome using a 2A charger instead of a turbo charger?
Like a samsung 2A charger
Or a 2A power bank?
Any issues?
Because 1150 mah is too slow
I was also wondering this.I tried it with my 2,4a ipad charger once and it was charging twice as fast, but i dont know if this is good for the phone. Using the normal charger again to be sure.
With normal 1.2A charger, it takes almost 3+ hours for my phone to fully charge. I used my Galaxy Note 10 charger which is 2A and it got charged in 2 hours. I read it in the forums that even with 2A charger, we cant take the advantage of turbo charging as it will need a charger of 2.4A.
I dont know how 0.4A will make a difference but still, my knowledge is limited in this case and wouldnt want to comment on it.
The charger has to be Qualcomm QC 2.0 certified (that's a specification) to take advantage of the turbo charge mode. The amps put out by the charger is kind of secondary in this situation as the charger and phone both need to be "talking on the same page" i.e. QC 2.0
At that point (charger is QC 2.0) the special circuitry kicks in and goes into turbo mode. So its a little more involved than just throwing more amps at the phone. If you google Qualcomm QC 2.0 specification then it will give you a better idea of what it is all about.

Turbo charging steps up to 9v and 12v depending on what wattage the phone can handle.
I think our phones are 15w and the Style is 20w or so.
I can't get my phone to charge faster with a 2amp charger though, only my turbo charger.
I used digitech 2.4amp charge ans works like a charm superb....
It isn't causing any issues? Like battery degradation?

I've been using my Moto turbo charger every night for a couple weeks now and haven't noticed any issues. The phone doesn't seem to let the battery get over 35'C when its charging, so I don't imagine it'll damage the battery.
Think I may get a car charger soon, sometimes I forget to charge at night so it'd be cool to get a full charge on the drive in.
Battery will very likely not last as long when doing fast charging always compared to "normal" charges
Any fact to back that claim?
Im using a Belkin 2.1A charger, no problems whatsoever.
So what's conclusion is it safe to use 2a charger without doing damage to battery

I'm using a 3a charger and it's fine
You can't harm a battery with a higher amperage output charger. The phone will only consume what it is able to. If the voltage was higher (excluding quick charge adapters) then yes that will do damage, but that's a strange situation as no charger should do that unless it's quick charge.
That being said, on hand I do have a feeling that quick charge can actually do long term damage if used a lot but on the other hand, it seems to limit the maximum temperature to around 38'C. Above 40'C can cause irreversible damage to the cell. I'm using a car charger now and when the phone is in use, it gets up to around 38 or 39 and it cuts back on the charging current.
Interesting article explaining Qualcomm, fast charge, turbo charge using all the same technique under different names. They all use the same Qualcomm technique.

Does this tablet require a special charger as i only seem to be able to get it to charge using the charger that came with it. if i try a power pack or any other charger it will not charge
It requires a 3amp or better charger at the standard 5V. I've successfully used battery banks and chargers that have 3amp or more. Most of the newest chargers and battery banks that support quick charging via the orange USB ports should provide 3amps and work fine from what I've experienced.

What you might find is that the tablet does not report that it's being charged but it is actually being charged, very slowly and there's no indication of it taking place...
The way to check, is to plug in the tablet and note the battery percentage, leave it charging (with no indication that it is!) and then come back and check the battery percentage, you'll see that it's actually climbing up!
It does take a long time to charge on a 5V USB charger but the reason it doesn't show that it's charging is supposedly because the tablet needs to see at least 12 volts...
I've just ordered a 15v charger on Aliexpress for $5 shipped, to see if I can speed things up.
Still need to sort out the dead dock battery and may well get one from Aliexpress too...
I have a basic cheap qi charger I used with my last phone, never had an issue. With my Mi 10 Ultra it only charges correctly like 1/10 times when I place it down on the charger. The weird thing is it shows it's charging, the pad and phone get warm which means electricity is flowing somehow, but the phone drops in battery instead of charging... I don't even know what to say or do. Kind of tempted to buy that 55w wireless charger though.
I had a similar issue but found that I had a few stock apps going in the background draining the battery quicker than it could charge (it was a cheap low wattage charger). Force closed the apps and killed a couple of processes and it steadily increased. Not ideal but I took that as a sign of using a cheap wireless charger.
Still on the stock chinese Rom until I get out of unlock jail so if you're on the EU Rom this might not help.
I bought the 55W wireless charger with my phone and it's brilliant.
I tested my previous Samsung 15w wireless charger & Huawei 15w charger with the Ultra and the charging speed was a trickle (according to Accubattery app) and near unusable on the phone so will probably go for the Xiaomi 55w charger from Aliexpress which some sellers seem to be offering the 65w charging brick with.
Will sell the 2 chargers I have whci should pay for the replacement
Does anyone have a source other than aliexpress/baba for the 55w wireless charger? I don't want to wait over a month for it.
Eh... I found other sites where it cost more and took longer to ship. I decided the fastest way to get it was to buy it from the fastest shipping seller on aliexpress and not delay any more
mine seems to have stopped saying fast charging when using my wireless charger, possibly since moving to the EU rom.
Just as proof this phone has something fundamentally wrong with its Qi charging compatibility, the charger only draws 2-3w from the wall when it's not working right. It uses 8+ when it's charging right. That's not the charger. The phone is doing something wrong.
2-3w appears to be what it draws when it's doing the detection algorithm to make sure it's compatible and will accept a charge. It does the same thing on my old s20+ but then goes up in wattage when it's actually charging to 9+.
I am using the 20W wireless car charger together with the 55W wireless charger (with 65watt GAN charger), and both of them works fine and fast. Just to beware that the car wireless charger is quite heavy and may stress your AC vents.
Something has definitely changed since moving to the EU rom. On the CN rom, it would activate the fan in my Huawei charger and say fast charging, now no fan and no fast charging.
Have you added it as a bug on the EU forum. It's ok noting it here but it needs to go on the bugs list to be noticed
