[Q] TWRP won't load in recover. flashing rom fails because of signature verification - General Questions and Answers

I have a SGH i317m unlocked from Roger with jb4.3 stock rom. I'm trying to flash DN3 ROM for note 2.
I've rooted the phone and installed TWRP, but when I go to recovery I still get the Android recovery which fails to flash the rom because of "signature verification fail." I've tried installing TWRP recovery, it goes to the website, and then says the download has started, but there is no progress in the download status bar.
I've flashed Rom before but I'm still a novice. Any suggestions on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
thank you
alllrite.

Disable signature verification while flashing the ROM.. It shows just when you are about to flash the ROM..

I didn't get that option when I flashed the rom. my phone is only booting to android recovery. I don't understand why it won't boot to TWRP.

If you can't enter TWRP its not installed properly! How did you install TWRP?

problem resolved
I found a post that suggested down load goomanager and "Open it and hit the menu button. Hit install openrecoveryscript. " this worked and my phone now boots to twrp recovery.
thank you

Isn't it a bit risky to turn the signature verification off. That is one of the reasons I am reluctant to use TWRP. With CWM signature verification is on by default.

Clockwork Installation aborted with all ROM!

Hello guys, 2 weeks, I have a problem with the recovery.
With each flash ROM, which I try to get this error:
"Assert failed: getprop ("ro,product.device") == "crespo" I I getprop ("ro.build.product") == crespo" I I getprop ("ro.product.board") "crespo"
E: Error in / sdcard/update-oxygen-2.3-NS-signed.zip
(STATUS 7) INSTALLATION ABORTED"
Why? I'm desperate
Either u installed the wrong recovery or your flashing a zip for the wrong phone. Which phone do u have? Crespo or Crespo4g?
I have Nexus S (i9023) I am trying to flash the original rom, but I have the same error..
I have the exact same error trying to flash the We Scream-b7 zip from this forum. I have the Nexus S I9020T for Tmobile.
I had the same issue, problem is that you guys are running an older version of CWM.
Just install ROM manager from the market on your phone.
Click "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".. it will flash the newest version of CWM on your phone.
Reboot into recovery after the installation and try to flash a ROM again, and it will just work.
Have you tried reflashing manually the recovery image from fastboot mode?

check the manual bootloader menu CWR in the recovery menu? is there or you use for rom installation ROM MANAGER?
I install the ROM from the recovery menu, I can't use ROM Manager because I don't have root permissions
Lol, u didn't flash superuser?
If every time I get that error recovery, how do I flash? lol
On www.nexusshacks.com is a guide how to flash superuser via your command prompt on the pc. If you dont got a rooted phone u cant flash a rom.
Sent from my Nexus S

[Q] Can't flash anything in CWM

Hello,
I just unlocked my bootloader...installed CWM 6.0.4.5.....installed SU (verified root) and attempted to flash CM11
I pushed the rom.zip to /sdcard/
I also pushed gapps to the same directory
I tried to install CM from within CWM and I got "E:Can't open /data/media/cm-11-20140205-NIGHTLY-hammerhead.zip (bad) Installation aborted."
I tried to install gapps as well, just to see....and I get the same error.
What am I doing wrong?
I also tried dropping the files straight to the phone from within windows, and then running them from CWM..same error.
I also attempted to sideload CM11...and I get "E:Can't open /tmp/update.zip (bad) Installation aborted."
I have been running custom roms since the G1....(G2...Nexus 4....Galaxy series phones) this is the first time that i've hit a roadblock like this from all directions.
Any advice would be awesome, thank you

Oh, yeah..I should probably correct that...I did not manually flash SuperSU.
Upon restarting my phone from CWM at some point it asked me if I wanted to protect root, and install SU.
When I loaded up android, I verified that SuperSU had been installed, and ran an app that requires root to verify.

Np, sorry I should have read the entire thread more carefully.
AHA! I have successfully sideloaded CM and Gapps on another computer.
However...attempting to install it via "install from zip" was still giving me the same error

hmm...now when I try to sideload i get....

Unable to update to 12.1

So today I saw that the 12.1 update is downloaded and asking me to install it. But, when I do try installing it the screen is stuck at the Cyanogen Recovery.
The usual options in recovery screen are displayed, why isn't the OS updating?
FYI - My OPO is rooted and also has TWRP recovery installed. I also tried disabling the Update Cyanogen Recovery option but the same option.
Any assistance would be great

You can't flash the OTA with TWRP recovery. You can either flash the stock recovery and then install the OTA, or you can download the full ROM zip and flash that with TWRP.

You don't need to be a techie to know that the updates must be taken in order. Go to Settings>About Phone, take screenshots of the info there and post here so I can see please.
