Apparently none of the kitkat ROMs currently support WiFi Direct or Miracast for the skyrocket. In fact turning on the wireless display option jacks up the WiFi altogether until you go into airplane mode and back out. It works fine in the cm 10.2, does anyone have any insight in this?

I guess there must not be much interest in this feature as it still hasn't made it's way into the nightlies or even been brought up in the Dev threads (that I've seen anyway, but I've combed through most of them). Too bad, I have a nice new TV that supports it but in order to use it I have to downgrade. Allcast works well for streaming media, but it's kinda cool to mirror your whole screen (although I admit not all that practical). I'd still like to hear something if anyone knows anything, thanks!!

Wi-Fi issues remain after the Gingerbread update...:-(
When I connect to a wireless network and try to stream or upload something my phone starts to lag. Now I cannot connect to a Wi-Fi network and have to reboot my phone. This is the exact behavior before the update...nothing has been fixed in this release ... I sure hope LG fixes the issues before T-Mobile pushes the OTA.

Personally never had this problem. I would revert back to stock and try and get a replacement phone.
This is my third replacement and all of them had this issue. It would work fine for a while and then it would start acting up...

really 3 replacements with that same problem? idk maybe its ur wifi at your house?
It is not my wi-fi, the phone does it on other networks and I've used my wi-fi with other devices-no issues...

I had wifi problems.....until I switched to cynogenmod.
I was about to get a sensation, but cannot consider giving up the benifits of cynogenmod. The additional features it adds, although small, all add up to a much better user experience, not to mention that it fixes the phone.

Which security type are you using on your WIFI? Maybe it's an issue with that specific protocol. Try changing the protocol back and forth for test purposes. It's possible it's one of the newer types of security and they really just aren't aware of a problem yet.
Also double check the firmware for your device. I understand that you say you've had it on other wifi and other devices work fine on your wifi, but I've had XBox's and computers that had problems with the firmware I was running but other devices worked fine.
I had the same stuttering problems as you using wifi with stock Froyo. The phone was close to unusable when streaming or downloading anything. Most of the time if wouldn't even switch from 4G to wif which was more annoyingi. With the gingerbread update wifi has dramatically improved and the switching is well under 10secs. Cm7 or anything based on it never worked for my wifi network sadly.
I have this very same problem. Turning on wifi I would still see the 4G icon and data activity. This has got to be so annoying after upgrading to gingerbread. Also now I have a new issue with the browser. This is issue is when the screen locks then unlocks the browser would automatically go back to the previous page. I mean why so many issues with this phone?
Does anyone know a way to get wifi tether to work on CM 10 for vzw gs3? I'm running the Aug 16th CM10 build. Unlocked bootloader. Can't seem to find a wireless tether app that works. I saw that the native wifi hotspot should work in CM10 on other carriers, but it's not working for me. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.
AOSP has tethering built in. It's working for me on austen dickens latest release Just turn it on in the settings

If the native hotspot isn't working try turning security off. Worked for most on older builds. Don't know if 8-16 should work with security enabled but give it a go without security.

I see it in the settings. When I turn it on there I can connect my laptop and tablets to the network, but the internet never works. Not sure what I'd be doing wrong.

I'm also running that unofficial alpha (plus.google.com/117962666888533781522/posts/QvVGczHD5TF) and the wifi tether seems to work for me. I was able to connect via my wifi-only Kindle and use the web browser. But I've been running this rom for less than a day, so only did a quick check.
Guys, the native tethering & portable hotspot found in settings works perfect.

Weird that it works for some and not for others. I'm going to flash the 8-18 nightly now and see if it works.

Yea and I need it to work for school . Guess I'm doing a wipe and clean install
So at first wifi seemed good, range is better than my epic, speeds good as well(throughput anyways) but I've noticed a lot of disconnecting lately and having to toggle my wifi on and off to connect a lot. I'm not sure on this next part but I believe it all started when enable smartaction features. I tried toggling, dhcp versus auto, no difference. I'm thinking that maybe there is a cache somewhere in the driver that is not clearing properly creating network handshake issues, but that is a speculated thought based on very little knowledge. A little extra info, I have experienced this on both my dual band wifi N netgear at home, and a single band wifi G netgear at work, I'm stock no root(yet). I am semi noob when it comes to networking but I do have enough knowledge to setup securely a wifi network and do basic troubleshooting. Any thoughts on this? I am gonna try disabling all smartactions as well and see what fruitation arrives from that.

i had the same problem. What i did was change my wireless channel.
Almost 9 hours and no wonkiness after disabling smartactions. Ill report further in the future

lol, don't think it was necessary to go to those lengths... Just disable any SmartActions is the suggestion.
I have a few night time / low battery smart actions - and I guess I never really use wifi during those periods. During the day when I do use wifi and the smart actions are not in use, I don't have any wifi issues.
Interesting theory for sure, especially since it is a new and perhaps only partially tested Motorola product. Would be nice if this is a workaround, at least there's something to look into .
I don't think it has anything to do with Smartactions....the couple of times I've experienced Wi-fi disconnects I never had any of those running. It seems to be more of a seemingly distance/threshold sort of thing to me.

I've never really experienced any disconnects that I couldn't attribute to distance...
Some here have said that wifi disconnects within feet of the router and VERY frequently. I can't say I've ever experienced that on this device...
My wifi issues were definately not range based, but I have yet to experience the issues I was having before since disabling the smart actions, but I will play around with renabling when I have some time and see if I can narrow it down, I have a feeling it was the sleep profile and I'm pretty sure I left it at defaults other than times.

Through the STOCK phone dialer put in ##106157#. It will reset a lot of wonkiness and do another hands free activation, updating ports, PRL, etc on a level more in-depth than the System Updates option.

Not related to smart actions, but maddening nonetheless...
Go to "Settings" --> "Wifi" --> "Menu" (Bottom right) --> "Advanced" --> "Show Reminders" - uncheck.
OK, here it goes.
I have two Infuse phones. One is running 4.1 and the other is on android 4.2. I noticed that probably (it is my guess) due to the merge not being full or complete yet the Wi-Fi tether is not working.
I tried using Foxfi but this app crashes as soon as I enable it. So my question is, has anyone had the same issue or knows a workaround?
I read a lot of posts on the internet regarding this but nothing really related to 4.2 and most of solutions are using an external APP. Should I be just patient and wait for the full merge?
Am I doing to many questions? xD Thanks in advance.

That's exactly what I'm doing right now.
Edit: Don't know what's goin. It says "turning hotspot on", but sits there and never turns it on. :S
I reflashed from scratch twice and this single feature doesn't work, all other things are working perfectly, but the tethering isn't. What's funny is that all over the internet you're going to find similar issues on 4.2, that's why I wonder if it's not related to that not being stable yet on 4.2.

Did a little bit of digging for you.
This is the only thing I found on the S3 and WiDi (aka. be compatible with the device you listed above)

Personally I run a:
http://www.amazon.com/Adapter-HDMI-3FHU-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B0080CXSOU
to connect to my home theater. Not sure how well the wireless video/audio would turn out.
In my experience streaming anything over the air turns out poorly.
I guess the wireless nature of it all could be convenient though

I have the mhl adapter also, but it gets annoying having to constantly hook it up every time I wanted to watch a movie. At the same time, I don't wanna sacrifice sound quality just to be wireless. I'm torn!!!!!
