[Q] CyanogenMod 10.2.x won't sent sms - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi everyone,
I just downgraded from cyanogenmod 11 to 10.2.1 - and I found everything works perfectly except for sending sms. E-mails, phone calls - even receiving sms is fine. I try to send an sms and it just gives me a notice saying 'message not sent'. If i look for more details it says 'error -1'.
I've done some googling and found somewhere on another forum that someone else said this was a problem with voice plus in non google voice countries. He didn't say how to fix it though. I've tried uninstalling voice plus, but it didn't seem to work.
I'm based in the UK using three mobile. Everything works fine on cyanogenmod 11 and touchwiz - I downgraded because of the stability issues in the latest cyanogenmod snapshot. Tried Slimrom but it wouldn't load on first boot for some reason.
If anyone could tell me his to get this working in be very grateful.
Thanks a lot.

You may want to post this in the international S3 forums as you've posted this in the USA variant of the VZW S3

Thanks Shapes - this is a US Verizon S3, I'm just using it in the UK. That's never been a problem until now. I tried the latest stable AOKP, (also JellyBean) and it had exactly the same problem. So I think it's pretty safe to say this is an AOSP JellyBean issue. Does anyone know of a stable KitKat rom for the D2VZW?
I've reinstalled the CM11 M3 snapshot for now, but would love something a bit more reliable. I might check out Synergy Rom, as I think that's based off TouchWiz rather than AOSP - just a bit reluctant to go back to Touchwiz for some reason.

Cool thanks - I'll try installing it tomorrow. Feel like I've flashed my phone to death in the last couple of days. Seeing as the S5 is now out, how likely is it that development on the S3 Cyanogen roms will continue, do you think?

Or any S3 rom, for that matter. This phone is probably looking like a pretty old toy by now.

It will continue for now. Beyond 4.4.2 kk I don't think there will be much more for it however, it's a solid phone though and it will live on.

I notice Synergy has Verizon s3 users download the d2lte Rom. The d2vzw cyanogenmod page stopped updating nightlies in February, but their d2lte page (which only seems to have started putting out nightlies last month) is very active. Are cm d2lte ROMs compatible with the Verizon s3?
Cheers

Yup sure are. It's a universal build for the S3 and is indeed compatible with the vzw s3

Short answer: I got it to work. Skip to the end of the post if you want to just get the link...
Slightly longer:
Device: Samsung S3, US Verizon, SCH-I535
OS: d2vzw , CM 10.2.1 - last known stable version
Carrier: O2 in the Czech Republic
Prior to installing CM, I had it with ancient Android 4.1.2 (I did not do the OTA update). It was slow, full of bloatware etc.
Symptoms:
I could receive SMS messages but not send SMS.
I never saw "full reception" on the antenna icon on the status bar.
I had data when not on wifi - but it was slow.
Steps taken that did not make a difference:
Fiddling around with *#*#4636#*#* and trying everything written here: http://wiki.cyanogen.../w/SMSC_Updates
Voice+ was not the culprit either. I even under root deleted the apk, rebooted - same deal
Fiddling with the carrier mobile networks did not help either
This worked:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2394689
I hope it helps.
Best regards and drive safely,
Erez

Unable to buy apps in the ICS Market

I seem to be one of the unlucky few that are unable to purchase apps in the Market on ICS. I get the ever helpful "An error has occurred" message when I try.
Here is an interesting twist, though: I also am unable to buy apps in the default ICS browser. I have to download Dolphin Browser if I want to be able to buy apps on the go.
This makes me wonder if there is something in the browser that the Market app used that is preventing me from buying apps. Any one else having this particular problem?
My carrier is Wind Mobile in Canada.

Can't help - sorry. I'm on Kwiboo's V3 if that helps at all.....
Which ICS you running?
I had the same problem with Drew Garens ICS stable v1. Restored back to beta v2 and all was fine. I've since switched to Eugene's ICS #3 and market works there to. I read somewhere of a person having the same issue with CM9 alpha12, but CM9 alpha 11 was fine. Since Drew Garen's is a kang of CM9 perhaps it inherited the issue.

Another factor just occured to me. I didn't enter a credit card on market setup, instead i charge to my T-mobile account. I wonder if those not having purchasing issues entered a card.

Since Eugene's ICS #3 and Drew Garen's ICS beta2 both work for me on market, I wonder if they are both based on CM9 alpha 11. Can anyone confirm what vesions they are kangs of? I looked at their thread and can't seem to find mention of it.
Are you only having problem BUYING the apps? Because I can't buy them or download free ones, I'm running CM9 and I'm a complete noob to rooting, etc so I don't know if it's Alpha 11 or Alpha 13, I do know that my WiFi doesn't work and it's the one by Koush.
It worked to download 1 single app but after that, nothing.
I have no problem downloading free apps or updating existing apps... Only buying apps for some reason.

cm9 vs cm 10 question

Is there any benefit for Verizon s3 owners to run cm9 over cm10 until an official jellybean rom is released, or have the leaked roms provided enough for code for the Verizon version of cm10 to no longer be a port from another carrier's rom?
I'm having maps flickering issues that are on the official cm10 bugs list, but I need something that works in the meantime.
Thanks!

As far as I'm aware, there was no CM9 release for the Verizon SIII.

As previously stated there was no official CM 9 release for the Verizon Galaxy S3 because at the time when CM 9 was still current our phone still had a locked bootloader, however there was an unofficial CM 9 using kexec to circumvent the locked bootloader at the time (But that is very outdated now and shouldn't be used). I recommend you try the latest CM 10 nightly that fixed a lot of bugs since the CM 10 Stable release. If you really need something absolutely 100% stable I would recommend running the stock ICS Touchwiz ROM with root.

[Q] best AOSP ROM for this phone?

I've been running CarbonROM (03/16 nightly) and as much as I love it, I always seem to see issues with it with the screen freezing to the point where I have to pull the battery to fix it.
Can anyone recommend an AOSP ROM that is extremely reliable?

That is a small issue, but it's not that bad by any means. I just don't like Touchwiz being all bloated. Lol

KT's kernel always caused random reboots for sure. Any build wouldn't be any different. Anyways, I'm enjoying the 16th right now. But if it keeps freezing, then I'll try the 15th.

I cant stand bloat either but with kids I have to be able to hear the voices and or singing. Aosp video is near silent except for when I talk lol.

Which MR build would you recommend?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
The most stable ROMs I have found are clean rom for TW. Scott UK so always one of the first to update to new builds. As far as AOSP, I really like Liquid Smooth. Really quick, light weight and one of the few 4.2.2 ROMs with the ability to save pics directly to the SD card, which for me is a deal breaker if not included.

If you are looking for stable and reliable avoid nightlies. I have found slim rom, rootbox, carbon and liquid to all be extremely stable if you stick to their "stable" releases. The nightlies will give you cutting edge features but those features will introduce bugs and quirks as well.
For me, every time I get off Slim I end up back on it within a week. Love it.

I've tried Slim and I just don't really like it as much as Carbon or Liquid. Right now, Liquid is the best ROM I've ever used followed by AOKP. Carbon's stables still have rebooting issues (haven't rebooted once on Liquid yet and I've ran it for 2 days now).

CM11 ROM and Simpsons Tapped Out crash

Love this ROM, absolutely flawless for me so far. But starting a few days ago, Taped Out started crashing at launch. The last good nightly where it worked was 20140118, I believe. Tried both dalvik and ART, same issue.
I can grab a catalog, if that will help...

It's a general CM11 problem after the 18th, I'm having the same problem in my HTC Sensation. The question is if this will be resolved on CM side or with a future game update...
Thanks, all, I appreciate it. I see the crash on the tegra driver, but hoping it can be resolved in a CM update.

Same issue with my Motorola Photon Q which has a Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4. The error occurred to me on 20140120 nightly the first time.
So it is a cm11 / Simpsons TO general issue, not Tegra related only.
Hoping for a quick fix as well.

Question is, someone here to inform the CM-Team about this?

Updating via phone you can choose the handy to show ALL updates(including recent stables and snapshots). The correct Snaphot for your device should be shown.
On CM hompage downloads for both i9300 and i9305 are available.
hey,
I was on this forum for something else but thought I give you some info as well. On Nexus 4 running 4.4.2, tapped out crashed like crazy. I believe its 4.4 android. Maybe EA hasn't optimized to work right with it.
Having same issue on cm11 on note 3, gone back to unofficial build for now, cant live without tapped out haha, though can say even when installed crashes all the time, stock or modded, ea need to sort out
Having the same issue on my SIII. Had to revert to my backup which was running an older build, 20131217, to get it working again. Is this something that we can report to the CM people? I'd be nice to have a more recent version of CM, but not at the stake of The Simpsons!!!
Same problem on my Galaxy S2 too
General question: Are crash reports sent to Google or the app developer? I already sent like dozens of reports, a few with every nightly I try :/
Anyone know the last version that supported the game and how to get it? I installed the 27th nightly and it wasn't working for that one. I'm running on a December build right now and would like to get something more up-to-date.

Test/Feedback Req: AOKP Unified Test & Pre-nightly test build

Hi everyone! BMc08GT (Brandon) has been busy so I'm trying to help out.
We made some big changes in the past few days and I need some Verizon S3 users to test 2 builds for AOKP.
One will be fired off on a nightly soon, the other is for an upcoming change.
Pre-nightly test (fixed link):
http://www.rwilco12.com/Files/Garwynn Projects/aokp_test/aokp_d2vzw_kitkat_unofficial_2014-04-03.zip

http://www.rwilco12.com/Files/Garwynn Projects/aokp_test/aokp_d2lte_kitkat_unofficial_2014-04-04.zip
Please feel free to reply with feedback here, hangouts, PM, Twitter, or any other way to get it to us.
Thanks in advance!
Great to see an AOKP thread starting! I dumped CM after they started their unified build and been running bmc08gt builds since. I don't understand why people are consistently using CM with the big issues it's gone through lately when AOKP works great. I just hope AOKP doesn't go down the same road with it's unified. I am going to try the unified build and see how it goes.

Thanks for the great replies.
Since you've been using this for a while I'm hoping you can note any differences in:
1) What you've been using
vs
2) Tonight's "pre-nightly" test build (in case we need to address something before it fires off)
vs
3) Test unified build. (Brandon's been working on a test unifying on what's already in AOKP - but this is a test based off CM device trees)
There's a desire to go unified but not at the risk of breaking what's already there.
So we'll be doing what we can to test this before making the jump.
Look forward to the results!
So I briefly tested the unified build.
WORKING....
-sms and mms
-data
-phone calls with a Bluetooth headset.
NOT WORKING...
-Google search force closes especially while using the Google launcher.
In general things are looking great for a unified build. Again, I didn't test everything but so far the important necessities are working.
Great work guys!!

Checked the official 3/27 build and it would not switch from dalvic to ART.
The new unofficial nightly switched to ART but had consistent force closes just like the unified build.
I tried the nightly that you have linked in the OP and data did not work.

We made several changes to device repos that very likely broke the pre-nightly. That's why we needed it tested.
But the unified is getting rave reviews from everyone I have asked. Just waiting on a gsm user to respond to see if we put it in.
Thanks again for all of your help!
Just so everyone knows, the S3 line was unified and took effect with tonight's nightly.

The AOKP unified runs great. You guys did some awesome freakin work on this!! Can't wait to see what's next.
Any chance you could add the disable hardware button lights?
Could you add an official thread in original development forum?
Thanks
Running great garwynn! Tried several kk roms and I came right back to this one

What's superior about this? I used to love AOKP but have been on Slim or LS lately, since 4.2 really.

Well for one I tried carbon and it worked fine on wifi but pulled in no 3g or 4g signal. Beanstalk worked good but u prefer this rom as the tweaks overall are a bit better in my opinion

Please look for d2lte 4.4 nightly instead. Development has stopped for JB.
