Please make it for the 2.5G 801AC? Also, don't need s-off for this, right?
Also, I think ram is DDR3L
Also, one for the 16Gig variant
Thanks!

You absolutely need S-Off!! The AC WiFi is listed. I don't list WiFi bands because there are too many to fit on screen. RAM is DDR2. When I have the time I'll make a 16GB variation for your specific device if you have S-Off
Also, please post your comments/questions in the T-Mobile thread to help me out. Thanks.

a.k.a Moto G3
This a short list of frequently asked questions in this device forum and the answers often given as a response. It should serve as a starting point for gathering knowledge and finding solutions to many common problems. Please only post in this thread with feedback on how to improve this document. Q1: Which Moto G 2015 variant do I own?To find out which variant you own, power off your phone. Now, hold down power+vol. down at the same time. You are now in bootloader mode; look for the fourth line down beginning "Product/Variant:". The code beginning "XT" (e.g. XT1541") is your variant. Press the power button once to reboot.
The following is a list of all the regional variants. See the original source below for frequency band support:
XT1540: Single-SIM (Retail US | Canada (Telus) | Latin America (Tigo, Movistar Mexico))
XT1541: Single-SIM (Retail EU | GB | SP | FR | GER)
XT1542: Single-SIM (Retail Latin America (Movistar Columbia))
XT1543: Dual-SIM (Retail Brazil | Latin America)
XT1544: Dual-SIM with Digital TV (HDTV) (Retail Brazil | Latin America)
XT1548: Single-SIM (US - CDMA Prepaid)
XT1550: Dual-SIM (Retail Asia | India)

Q2: Where's the Notification LED? Is it hidden, and how do I enable it?As with previous Moto G versions, there is a hidden LED under the plastic earpiece in the top bezel.
You can enable it as a charging LED only using this root app. No progress seems to have been made to enable notification lights yet.
Q3: What sensors are in my Moto G?Main sensors inside:
Dual Accelerometer
Magnetic field sensor
Orientation sensor
Ambient light sensor
Proximity sensor
Major sensors missing:
Gyroscope
The main functionality missing due to the lack of gyroscope is Photosphere.
Q4: Can I use a 64GB+ MicroSD card?Yes, as long as it's formatted to FAT32.
Q5: How do I unlock my bootloader? Is this safe?Firstly, you need the Android SDK installed to use fastboot. I will not tell you how to do this here as many guides exist on XDA already.
Unlocking your bootloader voids the warranty. Other than that, the warnings Motorola gives mainly pertain to what you may do to your advice after unlocking the bootloader, for example flashing TWRP then flashing random stuff you don't understand. Unlocking the bootloader itself will not harm your device (I don't have room for a discussion of exploits here).
To actually unlock your bootloader, simply follow the Motorola guide. The process includes receiving an unlock code from Motorola, therefore do not bother following any other unofficial guides.
Q6: How do I install TWRP to flash fun things like ROMs?To begin flashing ROMs and kernels, etc., you need TWRP which is a custom recovery for Android. Read this and have a look at the TWRP website for more info if you are unsure at this point.
First of all you must follow Q3 above to unlock your bootloader. Once unlocked, read on...
Thanks to @squid2 you simply need to download his compiled image and flash using fastboot. Proceed to his thread here to download the latest binary build, "twrp-osprey-2.8.7-r4.img", from the "Downloads" tab, then follow his instructions for flashing the recovery.
A word of advice: I strongly recommend temporarily booting any images (be it recoveries or kernels) you are about to flash to your device. This is simply a case of using the command "fastboot boot blahblah.img" whether blahblah.img is a recovery or kernel.
There are many ways to boot into recovery. Firstly you can boot into bootloader with power+vol. down then select recovery with the volume buttons and press power to boot; The command "adb reboot recovery" on your computer if you have adb set up; By installing a terminal emulator from the market, then typing the commands "su" followed by "reboot recovery"; There are reboot apps on the market with advanced boot options also.
Q7: How do I root my Moto G?This is primarily for stock ROM users as I believe most custom ROMs are rooted by default.
First of all you must follow Q3 and Q4 (in that order) to unlock your bootloader and flash TWRP. Once TWRP is installed, read on...
Download SuperSU here and place on internal storage or microSD card. Take a look here for more info on SuperSU. Now simply boot to recovery (see Q5) and flash the zip by pressing the "Install" button and locating the SuperSU zip file. Now reboot and open the SuperSU app.
Q8: I need a factory image (stock rom)! Where can I find these?Look in @lost101's thread, [INDEX][Osprey] Moto G Factory Firmware Images, and refer to Q1 above to find out which one you need.
Q9: My Moto G is quiet, how do I boost the volume?Refer to @hp420's thread: [Mod] Native volume boost - no apps needed! mixer_paths.xml
Q10: Where can I find custom ROMs and kernels?Check out my own Osprey Oracle.

Remember cm13 is still in early stage.
Thanks for the thread. Is there one for "tips" possibly ? I'm wondering for instance if there's a way to use either of the two gestures to launch other apps than the Flashlight or the camera. Like turning the G3 on and off for instance, thanks!

Not yet, all questions have to be asked in a new thread at the moment. Might make a help thread in the future but certainly no time right now, I'll speak to other RCs/ mods to check that's the way forward though or if they'd rather stick to just making new threads for every question.
This thread is not meant as a tips thread though. I may add a few if they're oft-requested however.
As for your q I'm not sure, the moto app can't but check out lmt gestures and other 3rd party gesture apps. The dual accelerometer thing is quite unique however so you may not find anything.
I recently purchased a XT1541 for my wife.
I always had rooted phones for apps like Greenify and AdAway. My OnePlus One has an unlocked bootloader, but is still under warranty.
So my quick and dirty question. Seems to me that there's NO way to gain root access on a Moto G3 without unlocking its bootloader (and voiding warranty). Is it true? Anyone can confirm that?
Thank to all of you and a happy new year!

This thread isn't a help thread, please post questions as a new thread in this forum. A quick Google would show you can't root without unlocking the bootloader as the kernel is too new for exploits such as towel root.
So yes, unlock the bootloader using the steps in the op.
please delete this post. ty
One question
I want to make custom roms for our device. Well we have cm roms and I really appreciate the work done by the devs.
I can not root my device because its my parents phone so they will not allow me.
Wanna ask anybody can test my builds?
EDIT: I think cm is good enough. Because everyone loves cyanogeod more then any other roms like omni slims etc.
Apologies for posting this.
Regards
FireLord
Why CM?
We have CM already for our device!
Probably you better try MUI 7.1 or LeWa OS, something different based on Stock ROM is welcome!
And you have my help for that if you want!

Which model is the developer edition?

SOLVED! Noob needs help to identify G modell and root/optimized rom suggestion

Hello!
I have a Moto G 1 gen...so i started reading here about roms and rooting etc...
I already played a lot with my other Android devices adn other roms, but here, i don't know which files would be for my phone...
And i really don't want to brick it, because it is so super duper difficult to get this phone working with my phone company.
It reports this:
Android 5.1
Baseband version MSM8626BP_1032.3116.98.00R vzw_cust
Kernel version 3.4.42-ge27f578 [email protected]#1
System version 221.26.7.falcon_cdma.Verizon.en.us
Build number LPB23.13.33.7
My Plan is to root it, and place a boot animation on it and a optimized rom with or without different kernel
I am afraid of ruining my cdma function, cause i read, that the Cyanogens had problme with that....so optimized stock rom maybe?
And so on...
Hope someone has the time and patience to give some key advice...
Thx in advance...
You are the proud owner of an XT1028 Moto G. Optimized Verizon US Stock 5.1 ROM is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-lollipop-rom-t3017510 (Unlocked Bootloader required)
Don't ask me about unlocking, there are numerous threads on the subject - use search keywords: verizon us xt1028 Bootloader unlock
I am curious...
How did you determine the Model number?!

[INDEX] Moto G4 Plus Factory Firmware Images[Athene]

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for anything that happens as a result of flashing these files. Your destiny is your own.
Moto G4 Plus Factory Firmware Images
Please report broken links. New Mirrors welcome!

WARNING: Flashing a Firmware Image is not a safe way to downgrade.
How to flash:
[GUIDE] Moto G4 Plus Newbie Thread - Restore stock firmware
No longer maintained. Removed content.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I restore Factory Firmware if my Bootloader is locked?
Yes. However attempting to downgrade to an older version of Android may fail. Even with an unlocked Bootloader, downgrading cannot be guaranteed. It's also important to be aware that flashing the wrong Bootloader for your model can have serious consequences. Always establish your model of Moto G4 Plus before flashing.
What does 'Preflash Validation Failed' mean?
'Preflash Validation Failure' happens when the Firmware Image you are flashing is older than one you have previously flashed.
After flashing Firmware Image files phone gets stuck during boot-up | will not load Android?
Refer to the guide. Check you are naming the files correctly, and make sure you are flashing all of the 'sparsechunk' files - not just those mentioned in the tutorial. The 'sparsechunk' commands listed there are not to be copied exactly, different firmware images have different files.
Downgrading and OTA Updates
If you downgrade, it is advised to avoid all OTA Updates. These updates can result in a hard-brick (phone will not turn on) if you have a newer Bootloader than the one expected.
This thread was made with a reason so people can easily find their stock rom links. Everyone is welcome to help. Please state your model/carrier and post the link here. I will add it to OP. Thanks!

@itskapil I already made a list of firmwares and their models but I need some people to test and tell me. I can't post just with some assumptions. I have links of filefactory only. Maybe people can look that site as an alternative.
General Filefactory folder with a bunch of stock ROMs: http://www.filefactory.com/folder/c6cdedc45a775d27/?sort=filename&order=DESC&show=25
There are some things that are really confusing me, both in this Filefactory folder and the ROMs posted in the OP. For example:
XT1641-XT1643_ATHENE_6.0.1_MPJ24.139-13.3_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
The XT1641 is the Canadian / Mexican G4 Plus, while the XT1643 is the Indian G4 Plus. Both device have two different sets of radio bands (for example, the XT1641 has HSPA Band 2/4 and LTE Bands 12/17, while the Indian model lacks those but has LTE Bands 1, 8, and 40, among other differences). So, if one were to flash this ROM, would they be flashing the Canadian/Mexican modem, or the Indian modem?
Similarly, there this file:
XT1621-XT1622-XT1642_ATHENE_MPJ24.139-23.4_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
The XT1621 is the Canadian/Mexican G4, while the XT1622 and the XT1642 are the European G4 and G4 Plus, respectively. Again, the two regional models have different bands enabled, so if you were to flash it, would you be flashing the Canadian/Mexican modem, or the European modem?
I'm not surprised that G4 and G4 Plus images are combined for the same region, (such as XT1625-XT1644_ATHENE-RETUS_MPJ24.139-48_cid50_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip, which is the US G4 and G4 Plus), but these other images that have model numbers for different region devices with different modems is confusing me.
would you happen to have the xt1644 firmware?

It's intended for the US models, XT1625-XT1644 RETUS. The US models launched with MPJ24.139-48, this is an incremental update, MPJ24.139-49. The changelog was just "improved call quality". You may be able to flash it on the Indian model, but be sure not to flash the US model's modem, as it has different sets of bands enabled.

[Firmware] G935UUEU4API3 Odin Files & Modded Odin

I know there's another thread for this but it's an absolute cluster F*** to make heads or tails of. I wanted to simplify things.
Simply download files, download modded Odin and put files in proper slots in Odin.
This is will give you stock U firmware with the latest PK1 modem. Root isn't what it used to be so I don't bother with it, please don't ask me for root files and instructions of this firmware.

Here's the modded Odin that I used. This is from the root thread and never once failed to flash anything on any device I've thrown at it: http://d-h.st/gsDA
Thank you for simplifying this process.
You're welcome. I'm here to help.... The other thread was too much of a mess!
Thanks joe3681, for all of your efforts.
Where online can I find a list of updates or a version history for the Samsung S7 Edge (T-mobile)?
so this will work with the latest update from November? and also what are the benefits of U firmware? I haven't been able to find any good info anywhere. i have rooted and flashed before lol i just haven't been in the game for a while
U firmware seems smoother, it's bloat free. Only real downside is no advanced messaging.

No, the U firmware is still the September security patch level. It's so much smoother/faster though. Especially rooted.

I followed the O.P. in the post root issues thread, doing nothing more and nothing less than what they said to do. No lag, normal temperature.
Thank you
OP thank you for the easy to follow instructions. I just bought my SM-G935T from ebay. I noticed some lag with the S7 Edge and of course all the Samsung and T-Mobile bloatware.
I flashed all of the files then did a system cache wipe. I have not noticed lag so far and now have 20 GB of the 32 GB free.
One question though. Where will the phone check for updates? Will it get updates from Samsung or T-Mobile?
TWRP help
.
I just got my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge and have been doing a lot of reading here on XDA about this device. I have had all the galaxy's since Galaxy II.
I have rooted / custom recovery / custom ROM all of them. I know there basically is not much out yet as far as ROMS go for the S7e, but I would like to instal
TWRP and root the phone. I can not seem to get a straight answer as to how to do this exactly. Each "How-To" that I run into are a little bit different and scares
me a bit. If you could help me with any answers or links to my question(s) I would sure appreciate it.
1) I would like to odin into the phone the latest TWRP but I am not 100% sure which file to flash.
2) I would like to ROOT the phone if it is fairly safe at this point in development, but again I have heard of at least 2 different methods to do this.
3) Please advise on which file to use and/or method. My phone DOES connect up with my PC just fine via USB and I have ADB working also.

Spend more time reading around the forums before you try anything, but to answer your questions:
1) TWRP not possible on TMobile S7/S7E
2) Root is possible, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-s7-edge/how-to/how-to-root-s7-edge-t3410470
make sure to read the entire thread and note the issues you may run into
3) See #2 above, has all that info in the thread

OP thank you for the easy to follow instructions. I just bought my SM-G935T from ebay. I noticed some lag with the S7 Edge and of course all the Samsung and T-Mobile bloatware.
I flashed all of the files then did a system cache wipe. I have not noticed lag so far and now have 20 GB of the 32 GB free.
One question though. Where will the phone check for updates? Will it get updates from Samsung or T-Mobile?

@fl_gator_dad, it will check with Samsung. Mind you they dont update this as often as carrier versions release their incremental updates

Hello,
thank you for replying. I have been using TWRP on my past 6 phones. Is there some reason why
it wont work on this one ? I did a little more reading and found this
https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxys7edge.html
Support Status: Current
Maintainer: jcadduono
Code Name: hero2lte
Also ... if TWRP isn't working then what custom recovery are you and all using ? Clockwork ...?
.
Thank you

Well if you continue searching and reading some more, you will see that twrp only works on non locked bootloaders. Any carrier driven Samsung device has a locked bootloader and twrp will not work. We have the snapdragon and not the exynos. If you need to have twrp then you need to get an S7 edge Exynos version. There is no working custom recovery for the snapdragon version phones as of yet.

Thank you. That is a shame. I would think, incorrectly, that the unlocked GS7 firmware would be the baseline to build the carrier firmware.

Yeah, you'd think! The international is the one that gets everything first.
The unlocked firmware favors T-Mobile though offering T-Mobile customers features that other users don't get.

moto z XT1650 engineering/developer edition on ebay

edit:
FireType, won the auction!
Now if anyone happens to know of some helpful developers...
Wow nice find! If someone gets a hold of this we def have potential to find a way to get a bootloader hack.

this isn't my auction but I just saw a Moto Z XT1650 engineering developer's edition on ebay. Would such a device possibly help in unlocking the bootloader?

Too bad I already updated to Nougat (no downgrading) I would have bought this phone for sure.
Thanks for sharing.
Maybe we could set up a pool if there's an expert willing to take a crack at it and interested in buying it. This might be the only shot at getting such a device. Still unsure if it would be helpful for people with retail versions of the Verizon moto z.
auction ended, did anyone from here actually bid on it? If not, this is probably the only time one of these would ever be made available

No, I'm not a developer. But I believe that this device is a simple version of Z with an unlocked bootloader. The rear panel has a "moto" logo, while Verizon devices has "droid" logo
as soon as I get it I'll write about it here
Wow! I'm shocked someone from here won it. I thought for sure it would have gone to some unknown person and we'd never see another one like it.

What's the diff between that developer edition and global bootloader unlocked edition? Can you downgrade the bl on the developer devices?
Sent from my Motorola Moto Z Droid using XDA Labs
I'm really not sure what value this has in terms of root and (unofficially) unlocking bootloaders. I feel like it's just the device that's released to select developers prior to the official, public release. Even if there's something substantially different about it - in terms of software - that would give insight into unlocking, it's not much use unless it's in the hands of an experienced dev.
Interested in learning more nonetheless, though.
yes, the next step would be to find an experienced dev that might could offer some guidance

I suppose it's possible it could be a situation similar to the one @elliwigy describes here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70407652&postcount=438
Short version: debug firmware from special pre-release phone + Dirty Cow exploit + experienced dev = unlocked bootloader and root for phone with virtually unlockable bootloader
I believe @elliwigy used to be a dev for Moto devices before moving to LG. They might be able to provide some guidance in determining the value of this "engineering" edition phone and its firmware. With the exception of tagging them in this post (twice ), I don't want to bug them too much since they likely can't do much without the phone itself.

I wouldn't count on it, if for no other reason than we don't have any seasoned devs interested in the Moto Z (as far as I can tell, anyway). So even if there was a dev interested in helping us out (without the actual phone), they likely would never even see this thread. Maybe @erfanoabdi can weigh in, but I think they've given up on rooting the VZW variant (and I don't think they were ever working on a bootloader unlock).
Interesting that it's a Verizon (XT1650-01) prototype, though. I still haven't updated my VZW variant to Nougat in hopes of root, but I think at this point it's a lost cause (which I assumed to be the case when I opted for the VZW variant in the first place). I suppose it's always possible this phone could be used in conjunction with DirtyCow to come up with something, but that would only work for folks still on Marshmallow.
My Moto Z is dead since 3 weeks now. It won't boot/charge. Even the PC doesn't recognize it. Pleas help me unbrick it if you find a way.
