I bought the smartphone about 10 months back, so it is very much in the warranty period.
Recently, the phone started showing some problems. It responds to touches that are not even made.
It is very hard to explain.
Say an invisible man using your phone and all you see is the screen responding to his touches!
Please reply asap.
i have heard the service centers don't pay heed to your problems. is that, by any chance, true?

Is it rooted? does it have a custom rom/kernel?
Try changing screenguards
Does this happen when connected to a charger?
Try cleaning the screen... make sure it isnt wet

this usually happens when you use a bad battery or a local charger for long time, if you are not using mmx charger then try charging your device via pc, this might solve the problem after some time, but the best thing is claim the warrenty

charge your mobile form mmx charger properly and lock the screen every time you don't use the phone. if your mobile is root just restore it.

i have no words... no words at all
you're like a monkey with a phone
Bad charger or Moisture
Bad Charger or moisture could be the culprit. You can try USB charging for some time say 5 days to solve the bad charger problem. For the moisture problem i always do this. I put the phone without battery and opened in a bag of raw rice. and then reassemble it in after a few hours. This can be done for wet phone also, i mean say u got drenched in rain with the phone in your pocket. so its better to do this before switching on the phone. I am told it takes care of static current if any.

Hi everyone.
Last night I went to bed and as usual I check my Nexus S battery.
It indicated me very low battery, and turn it off.
So far, no problem, i thought, well there isn't enough battery to turn on the phone. I connected the cellphone to the wall charger and went to sleep.
Today i woke up and try it to turn it on, the screens just flashes and nothing happens.... Removed battery, try it again, the same.
Try 100 times that, and there was one time a Warning of Bootloader came up. Don't know what i did different thought, but now i can't get the same result.
Actually now the screen doesn't even flashes when i press the power button.
The battery seems to be charged, i tested with a LED. My wall charger is also working cause it's able to charge my old phone.
And now to get things even worse, as i bought it in asia, i don't have warranty, and the gran finale, Nexus S is not been sold in Brazil due to some regulatory issues, so Samsung said it they can't help me with an imported product.
The Cellphone is brand new, doesn't have not even ONE month of use.
It's not rotted, and it was in the latest android firm.
Does anyone have any idea what can i do????
The phone doesn't respond to anything .
Tnks a lot in advance.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!! SEE THE LAST THREAD. BR!

Is it showing full bars when you connect the charger and press the volume button?
dude, i think there is something wrong with our country. take a look at this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111761
i think you tried everything possible, can't see what else you could do. Looks like a hardware issue..
if i were you, i'd claim for warranty, even if you bought in hk, it has warranty, of course you will lose shipping cost, but, it's better than lose the phone! =o]
good luck!
GchildT: Nothing happens when i connect the charger to the cellphone.
Already tried the hard reset (volumn up + power button) nothing happens
thiagodark: Tell me about it, i read this thread ealier this morning, actually i send it a private message asking him if he solve his problem... samsung is really disappoint me.
The thing i found most said is that the phone is bran new! Not a month year old.
And i didn't do anything, not even rotted, dropped, anything!
PROBLEM SOOOOOOOOOOOLVED!!!
The problem was that there was a little tiny piece of plastic dirt in the usb male plug in the phone! And that piece was able to make a faulty contact with the charger, the phone battery was dead as hell.
Can you believe that?????
I almost sent my phone across the world in order to use the warranty.
Now I'm back with my cellphone up , happy as hell!
Tnks a lot, and remenber to always clean everything before use more drastic measures.

yes buddy they are correct this is because of the water, use hair drier or similar one which blows hot air then blow some hot air through charger pin so that it will drain the water in the mobile....
Note: use this for just few seconds or else it may damage the other parts...

Step One:
Dear, you can ask the SSC executive that if its so, then when I connect the charger or USB how does it working smoothly..?
The SSC guys are seriously Nuts. They just want to drag the matter from there soldiers to the customers. so, don't become fool from them. Ask them to give proper reason. Be clever & ask them to give proper response else you will report a case in Consumer Court.
Step Two:
If its correct as per MJ, then do what MJ said & Praise to GOD.
Ooopssss !!! this guy say he never dropped his phone into water but SSC say, it has been damaged...

I am having the same problem as tanveer4m. the touch will become responsive only when charging. In addition, the charging indicator is kept flashing eventhough i'm not connecting it to any power source. so, when the charging indicator is flashing, the phone is responding well, but when the battery reach below 20%, the charging indicator will not shown and the phone will become irresponsive. Can anyone help me with the problem?
i am currently using blueberry rom, and i tried to change to titanium kernel but the problem still persist.

problem will be solved when you use the mobile for long time. I didn’t do any repair for my mobile it is running fine now & then but he problem is still there. Sometime it run’s absolutely fine without having any problem.

ok so today a kid my mom babysits got ahold of my HOS and dunked it in the toilet... i caught him in the act and immediately grabbed it and dried it off best i could. it was in the water maybe for 1 second. when i pulled it out it was still on. lock button worked but screen was completely unresponsive. kept trying to unlock the screen but as i said it wasn't responding to me touching it. then it just turned off by itself and wouldn't turn back on at all. the notification light turned on (randomly, not from response to me trying to turn it off or on) and it was yellow and red. not completely one or the other. put it in a bowl of rice for a good 8 or 9 hours. pulled it out and now the notification light is off and still not responding to my attempts to turn it on. plugged it in to charger and no charging light. is there any hope for repairing it? or do i need to just buy a new phone...
not sure if it matters but details never hurt anyone.

If you dont have any insurance or warranty that covers such damages, I would take it apart and clean/dry each part individually with some tissues and those things you use to clean your ears (no idea what theyre called in english lol).
The odds are the screen is busted though, and will need a replacement.
The first thing you should do is getting the battery unplugged, so the device is completely powerless and let it be powerless for a day or 2.
Obviously, unplugging the battery on the HOS means disassembling the whole device...
j tag is the solution for ur problem..

Well, Listen to me, ive had experience.
If you have the know how to break everything apart and clean the corrosion, then you might be lucky. If not, repairmen could do it for you, but with each option you lose warranty. And it is not guaranteed it will work 100%. If it does, then you just have to live with no warranty, if not, the repair centre will change your motherboard, for me that cost 190€.
So you pick.
If i would have known better on my case, i would have let repairmen try and clean it all up for a mere 30€ (if they could have repaired it) and THEN sent the device to offical repair centre when their efforts would have been in vain, cause you know, nevertheless the repairs are not under warranty for water damage.

Ive saved 3 laptops by doing that, so it does work. Corrosion doesnt appear THAT fast.
Although reading OPs post again I see it was quite a while ago it happened, so there might be some minor corrosion.
Running a hairdryer across the board can save some bad connections in some cases as well- obviously not heating the board to sh*t, just a quicky.

Hey try flashing cwm recovery as it is not touch sensitive i.e. u have to use ur volume keys and power key to operate it.
Then flash other custom roms and if nothing happens u can flash stock rom via sp flash tools to get ur warranty back. Then u can get it repaired via service centre.

exactly causes of electro-magnetic radiation..
I had a similar problem. I was told at the service center that it is because of sweat or water on the finger tips. After a few weeks display became corrupted. This was not covered under warranty and had to be paid for (Rs. 2200/-). Now 1 month after changing display, touch has become non responsive. This was happening in cold climes only(Bangalore) or when I spent the night in a A/C room. Used to correct itself on exposure to sunlight for 10-15 mins. Today I took it to the service center and he fixed it so that touch stopped working all together. Now I'll have to send it for replacement which will take 25-30 working days. Should never have bought Mmx. Cheap Chinese rebranded stuff.
did you finally get your device back from the service centre?
In how many days did they finally return your phone?

Since the problem is not created by you, you shouldnt be charge anything. The phone also needs to be within the warranty period.

@Killer.shubham i think 2 things you should never do, keep the phone close to television, fridge or microwave, it can misbehave. Always use an original charger if possible, those chinese ones can cause this, i have had the same problem with my Blackberry. That dup charger used to even charge faster but later on when i realised what damage it was doing, i stopped using it.

I would like to add my observation.
I have seen this behaviour particularly while charging my handset in a railway coach.
So I have to switch-off my handset while charging.
Accidentally dropped my phone in water for about 2 to 3 second... 1st i thought its okay. Just wiped the water and it was running well for 2 minutes..
But after that its repeatedly restarting itself...
I even tried to dry it. Also i opened the device and seperated all the components inside. Still the problem is same... Only thing i didn't seperated is the screen which is more risky... So anyone can tell me what are tge possible ways i can fix it..
I even tried flashing custom os and recovery... But still its the same... Help needed
Software measures like flashing custom ROMs/Recovery doesn't seem a way out. The nature of damage done to the hardware within is worth a check by an expert. Firstly, post dropping a cell in water, it should never be used, instead it be switched off and battery be removed (if at all it is a removable one) until you ensure there are no water traces within. If you are not good at doing all this by yourself, better take it to the nearest service center. Having said that you have already attempted to flash Custom OS/Recovery, the warranty of device is already void. So leave the *risky* aspects you mentioned to the hardware experts who shall give ya an estimate and the status too.

Usually in such a situation the phone is kept in rice to absorb all the moisture, try that.
If it still persists take it to the service centre and get an estimate before fixing it, they are known to state a lot of random charges when they find out you dropped it in water.

Some time ago i also accidently droped rn7p in water at night 11 pm about 2-3 seconds. But i imedeatly turned it off and clean using a dry cloth then leave it under fan to dry. In monring i go to a local mobile repair shop and he just heat the mobile on a heating plate about 5 mins. Then i start it, and there is no problem it working like previous. So never remain phone on after drawing off it as soon as possible.
