[Q] Can't Mount SD card in TWRP [Solved] - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Hey everyone, I'm new to rooting my device, I couldn't unlock via HTCDev, so I used Firewater and flashed TWRP; now when I try to make nandroid backups or flash a permanent root, I can't access the SD card, only the Internal.
Everything mounts fine on my computer when the device is turned on, so I don't know what to do!
Thanks!

What version twrp you using, try flashing newer

Update: I've figured it out on my own: I needed to update TWRP because the All-in-one toolkit had an outdated version. here's a link to download the image (You have to manually flash it through fastboot):

[Q] Move files to SD using ODIN?

Simple question:
Is there a way to use Odin to copy a file to my phone in download mode? How?
More detailed version of my situation:
I'm mid-root using the process here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439.
I neglected to copy the SuperSU bootloader to my phone before I flashed VRALEC and installed CWM Touch Recovery. Now I'm looking for a way to get that SuperSU Bootloader zip onto the phone so I can use CWM to flash it! Alternately, how can I undo the first two steps to get back to stock so I can copy the file where it needs to be?
Thanks
Anyone?
Again, if you have some idea as to how to restore factory recovery and undo the VRALEC (bootloader?) using Odin that would solve my problem as well...
Thanks in advance...
You can wait till you're in cwm, mount sd card, and then flash it and you should be fine

Thanks for the response. My problem is that I don't have the zip on the sd card (internal or external). I could pull the external card and put it on there via computer, but for some reason I can't seem to mount that card in cwm. Again I'm stuck... I can get into cwm but cwm can't see the "superSU_Bootloader_FIXED" zip to continue my root sequence. I'm starting to look for a stock image to take it back to the beginning.
Still scouring the forums... given I've used VRALEC and installed cwm, can anyone tell me if this would work:

Why not try "install zip from sideload"....as long as you have a Windows computer, adb, and the drivers for your phone setup correctly you should be able to flash the SuperSu zip straight from your computer to the phone!

[Q] I can't seem to change my recovery.

I seem to be unable to flash over my current recovery, TWRP 2.6.0.0. I tried to flash CWM through ROM Manager and through EZ recovery and while both said they were successful I am still on TWRP. In fact, I distinctly remember flashing TWRP 2.6.1.0 last week and I still seem to be on 2.6.0.0. Does anyone know what the problem might be? I am currently rooted, bootloader unlocked, and running mastamoon's CM 10.3 unofficial. Thanks.
Don't flash it through Rom manager. It don't work. Flash it through Odin

If your .Img file is on your external SD card, move it to your internal and try to flash again from ez recovery.

Nope, no dice. TWRP refuses to go away for some reason. I managed to update it through goomanager, but flashing anything other than TWRP just won't work. :/

[Recovery][Unofficial]TWRP 2.7.0.0 & Clockwork Recovery Touch 6.0.4.4 W/loki (D800)

[Recovery][Unofficial]TWRP 2.7.0.0 & Clockwork Recovery Touch 6.0.4.4 W/loki (D800)
Clockwork recovery touch with Loki for AT&T LG G2 (D800) Only.
TWRP recovery touch with Loki for AT&T LG G2 (D800) Only.
The only difference between official recoveries and this version is that Loki is built in to recovery.
THIS IS ONLY FOR 10d FIRMWARE. IF YOU ARE ON 10o THEN DO NOT USE!!!
You may want to flash 10d firmware. It can be found HERE with instructions. If you plan on using ROMs it is best to flash 10d firmware first.
Install Methods
Flashable Zip - Must have TWRP or whatever custom recovery already installed.
Boot into recovery and flash Recovery Zip file.
Manual Method - With no custom recovery already installed.
Must have Root first. Check HERE for root
Download the zip file to which recovery you want
Extract zip file to C:\
Open command prompt in root of C drive
You will need adb installed and properly setup in your environment variables. If not place the recovery.img wherever your adb file is located.
Type the following commands:
Code:
adb push recovery.img /data/local/tmp/recovery.img
adb shell
su
cd /data/local/tmp
dd if=/data/local/tmp/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
exit
exit
adb reboot recovery
Now you should be in recovery.

I have not tested that way but I am sure you can. If you just need the img file than extract from zip file.
If you try then let us know how it worked out
Using flashify works like a charm. Just extract img file and flash using flashify. As a third alternative.

I haven't used cwm since the days of the vibrant but ,my question is does this recovery speed up flashing a rom? It takes me less then a minute to flash a rom on the nexus 4 so I was just curious. Thanks.

If you been flashing OEM modified ROMs on G2 the speed may have been due to the size of the ROMs.

Sorry I meant to include CM/AOSP based roms. The days of flashing 250mb+ roms are over :good:
I also havent used CWM in a long time now, are there any real differences between this and TWRP besides layout? Any special features unique to CWM?

Will I lose my twrp backups if I flash this clockwork recovery?
If not, then would I be able to restore twrp backups with cwm? May be a silly question but I never tried this and worried about losing backups.
You will not lose them until you delete them but I am not sure if you can restore twrp backups with clockwork.

Thanks for this! Always good to see people doing stuff on this phone : )
Flashing was a breeze. Thanks.
Does this mount usb-otg? When I try "Mount USB Storage" nothing happens. I am pretty sure TWRP also does not yet support usb-otg. My hopes were CWM did.
Thanks
Adb side load is an alternative for Mount usb. Install Zip --> Install from adb sideload. Unfortunately this didn't work for me either. If it works for any of you guys please let me know the steps you followed. Sideload doesn't work in TWRP also.
In case of a soft brick either Mount usb or adb side load should help. Otherwise you have to go back to stock using Lg tools and start all over again.

Format Cache is not working
Hey guys,
I flashed this and seem to have a problem with formatting the cache- it just stops so I cannot wipe becuase it stops at formatting cache. Anybody else experienced this before? I flashed again with same results.

Strange TWRP problem, no OS detected etc. Boots fine to stock

I ran the causal root applet on a new SG3 on 4.1.2. Ran root, the unlock script and installed TWRP. Booted into recovery and I got the error for a locked bootloader. I used download mode to get back to the stock rom and then used E-Z unlock to unlock the bootloader. Was able to boot into recovery this time but TWRP read internal and external memory as 0mb, unable to make a backup, and gave a no OS error when went to reboot. I updated TWRP with TWRP manager but the problems are still persistent. Phone boots fine and reboots fine at the moment.
I'm not sure what to do now though. I'm at the point were I don't care if I get stuck with the OTA update but I'm afraid that will brick the phone. I'm not sure what went wrong with TWRP, since this is the second S3 I've rooted.
Any sugestions? I'm afraid to use odin or try anything else since the phone currently works fine. But I'd prefer to not have to sleep in fear it might force the OTA update while I'm asleep and wake up to a bricked phone.
I tried searching, the best I could find is that newer versions of TWRP can't read the memory on a 4.1.2 rom, but the problems were there when I originally started with the recommended version.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.
Try to use cwm or philz and see if you have the same issue.

Can you install a different custom recovery over one using the causal applet? I was planning on trying to reinstall TWRP but I wasn't sure if I had to do it a certain way like through odin or Using the unified tool kit?
Thanks for the help so far!

No.
Download latest philz touch recovery d2lte zip, then flash it in recovery, then reboot recovery.
Then check and see if you're getting a similar error message.

I can't, recovery doesn't detect my internal or external memory. That's my main issue.

OK.
Then download the Odin version and flash through that. Then boot the phone into recovery.
Or download ez recovery, and the latest cwm image file, and flash through that from your rom.

I tried CWM and the stock recovery through EZ, both gave the same error as TWRP, unable to mount /
I'm really confused as to whats wrong. At this point I don't care if I get stuck with the OTA 4.3, but I don't want to try to update it with the recovery still not reading either my SD cards.
Any Ideas?
Are you sure of your phone model? I believe it puts it on the screen in download mode and also on a sticker under the battery. I'm mostly curious because you mention that this is a new phone with 4.1.2. Are you trying older versions of cwm as well?

I'm pretty sure, has all the verizon bloat and logos, also I'm pretty sure the causal applet bricks the international ones. I don't remember the version of twrp that the causal script flashed, but I tried that one, the most recent one, and 2.5 i think from EZ recovery. The stock recovery from EZ has the same issue now though which is what really confuses me. at the moment I have root dissabled and the bootloader is locked and its back with the stock recovery, it still says custom when i reboot the phone though.

Updating TWRP

Currently on TekHd. I want to order update TWRP. What would be the process to do this without resetting everything?

Why do you want to update twrp when there is nothing wrong with it?
If you do update twrp to a newer version it would not reset anything.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
I'd also like to move onto 3.0.0.0 because MTP does not work on 2.8.7.1. I have tried everything and am unable to move anything off the phone in TWRP.

Nothing will be reset. Just download the version for your device in .IMG format and flash it in TWRP or via Odin. I have no issues with 3.0 and have been using it since it became available.
