[Q] Seeking newest Google, flagship, vanilla Android smartphone - Other Tools & General Discussion

Senior n00b needs direction. If I'm in the wrong place please correct me.
The latest edition of "XDADEVELOPERS' Android Hacker's Toolkit"
says in part: "Periodically, Google releases one phone in conjunction
with a device manufacturer. . . phones are vanilla Android installations
with no interface or op system customizations. . . . are highly prized
by ...hobbyist communities. Etc. . . .
Chapter 11 refers to NEXUS S as the second Google, flagship, vanilla
Android smartphone.
QUESTION: What is the newest Google, flagship, vanilla Android smartphone.
Thank you

[Completed] [Q] iOS on Android Device

I went through a site which says that we can install iOS 8 on Android devices. Is it even possible???
It is my first post : iosonandroid/com (replace / by . )
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. No, you can't put iOS on an Android phone. iOS is made for specific hardware which is much different than an Android phone. That web site looks pretty sketchy too.

Downgrade A7 (A750GN)

3 years ago somebody downgraded somebody I met at the internet successful my Samsung J5 to Android 5.
Now I think about the possibility to downgrade my Samsung A7 (A750GN) to Android 4.
Would it be possible?
In know with such a questions a lot of people want to know why.
It's simple.
I love how 4 looks.
I could still enjoy 5 if I have too.
And Android is gone the same negative way like Microsoft with Windows 10.
Every new Android Version has more and more rubbish included I don't use and I don't want,
Today is (for me) my Android Version a overloaded fat elephant with so many bad functions I can't turn off.
I would like to have a "Android Lite" and I would like to have a Android that looks like 4 or 5.
But would it be possible?
I have never ever done something like this for myself.
That last time with my J5 somebody installed a remote control on my laptop and I plugged in my mobile and this guy has done everything remote controlled.
I have still to today no idea who he was and from where he was.
But it worked fine.
He downgraded my J5 to Android 5 and he changed something in such a way the mobile never ask for a update and when I try to force a update I get the wrong answer the newest update in installed.
Absolute great.
That is what I'm looking for with my A7.
Any ideas?
It is NOT possible to downgrade your A7 to android 5.
When a new phone comes out , for example the A7 2018 , it was launched with android 8.
It can not be downgraded to any version below the version it came out with.
Even after updating from android 8 to the latest android 10 , i don't think it is possible to even downgrade to android 8 again (because samsung updates, patch your phone with the new update.)
Galaxy J5 was released with android 5 touchwiz, the android 5 system customized by Samsung.
The person who was connected to your computer has installed a custom rom (probably an AOSP rom , as you described being a "lite version".)
AOSP roms are roms without the Samsung add-ons and customizations , created by developers here on XDA.
For the moment , an AOSP android 10 for A7 2018 is not available , but there is another way to get a "lite " version of android 10 on your device.
As it needs a lot of reading and understanding on android development, i do not sugges you doing so .
It is called GSI and you can find by reading in the correct thread , for example :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a7/help/how-to-install-gsi-samsung-galaxy-a7-t4165617
Please , be aware that you might brick your device if you decide to experiment with its system.
Hope this helps you.

Windows My Phone and Android apps

Hello everyone !
I've got a question about Windows My Phone and Android.
They added last year the possibility to see Samsung apps on Windows, using "My Phone".
I've found this : Use apps from your Android device on your PC (microsoft.com)
Here they say it should work with any Android 11 devices. I still have my OnePlus 6t in Android 10 (it should be updated to 11 ... one day), and I want to know if some of you were able to use this functionnality with their Android 11 device which is NOT A SAMSUNG !??
No one is using it ?
Have you checked the OnePlus 6t forum Section for information...
Hi, I'm not looking only for OnePlus but all smartphones on Android 11 !

vanilla Adroid on MediaPad M6 (SCM-W09)

Hey Guys,
I'm curios if any of you tried to install vanilla Android on MediaPad M6 (SCM-W09). I would like to do it but I need help with it. My knowledge is very basic, could you please tell me if there is any working manual which could me guide through this process? What I want to achieve is to have a normal Android with software from hardware producer and if possible working external Huawei keyboard. I bought set: tablet and keyboard.
Best regards
mgolczyk.
Vanilla Android is the Android developed by Google, not containing all the OEM related blobs: it's the base all OEMs use to create a fork matching their devices.
Hi @jwoegerbauer, thank you for replay, what does it mean in details? It means that if I try install vanilla version on this device I can have issue with drivers? I guess that vanilla android has an set of drivers for most popular hardware right? What do you recommend me, abandon the idea and try to install google services with one of the unofficial ways? Do you know if there is a way to install vanilla android on this device?
