[Solved] How to stream Bluray to MX -Player - MX Player

It would seem that using es-explorer, where it emulates a server, causes a bandwidth or memory bottleneck when full bluray files are streamed to MX-Player.
Does anyone else know how-else I can stream to MX-Player..
What type of server/service can I setup on the PC end so perhaps MX-Player can m0ar-directly receive files..
I am trying to stream files typically 22GB to 38GB, peak bitrate is bluray standard 40Mbit..
I know that the link has enough bandwidth, since I can get over 100Mbit to the Note 3, and 90Mbit to Nexus 7.
I am also sure that the hardware is capable of playing the files, since they play fine from an SD card.

I tried enabling software.. the network stats remain the same..
the player itself is even choppier.. seems to only play smoothly (for a second) with HW+, then the server emulation bottle neck occurs

Install mx log collector.
Run it immediately after the problem. It will dump system log...!!!
Else you can do it in a PC...!!

It looks like that network packet is being delayed while begin dispatched from server to MX Player.
This might one of these:
1) Streaming server -> Device
2) Device -> ES Explorer
3) ES Explorer -> MX Player
If you think 1) is not the case, it might be 2) or 3)
Would you try other apps other than ES Explorer, such as BubbleUPnP?

Ive never seen Mobo Player go out of synch.
Did you try changing hardware/software mode and trying that?
Mobo player is the best so far imo.
I agree. Mobo Player is the only one I've been able to find that I can stream video with my Tversity media server. Been able to play everything I've thrown at it so far.

Im using rock player, it played EVERY video file i have asked it to run.
try diceplayer
Rock/Mobo/Vital/vPlayer can not use hw decoder when playing file that isn't supported by system like MKV(+DTS/FLAC).
Diceplayer can play MKV/M2TS files using HW Decoder.so
diceplayer use almost same power as stock player. sw codec base player need more power.
Xperia Play have QSD8255. it can play 720p High level 3.1~4.1
I had issues with RockPlayer on my XP, can't remember if I tried MoboPlayer.
I'm using arcMedia Player and that has played everything I have thrown at it.
Android's media playing capabilities definitely seems to be weaker than that of iPhone and Windows IMHO.

You just access the media server address in your browser and use the web interface to find the video you want that way. Then choose Mobo Player to play the video.

Thanks for mentioning of diceplayer - i tried it and seems good for everything but cannot play WMV files - it has an option to play them stock but regardless of what I set it too does not play them.
you dont need a DNLA server such as ps3media center or tversity to stream your media.
Install the cifs/tuns modules (or flash my system.img with it all built in) and use cifs manager to map your pc's network drives to your sdcard.
You can now stream video, pictures and audio over your wifi network without any extra software running on your PC.
and if you wanna get tricky you can run a vpn to your pc and connect to it and stream music while away from your house ;D

Thanks for the recommendation on arcMedia. It worked flawlessly with .avi, .div, .divx, .srt subtitles in spanish failed with accented letters and non-english characters but japanese subtitles worked perfect, and they look really sharp.
Even though MoboPlayer was recommended by a lot of people and someone reviewed it (I searched for that thread but I couldn't find it again), .divx wasn't recognized as a video file, .div closed after a split second and .avi's audio was out of synch like hell. I didn't even check if subtitles were supported.
Mobo has worked the best transfered plenty of BR Rips from PB and they look amazing on the xplay. People at work are like wtf.

don't know about vpn but get "File Expert" from the market and you can map network drives (including NAS drives, i.e. PC can be off) and stream video via wifi (dice player or other players supporting your formats will be needed, otherwise your are limited to MP4 format) - I mapped my NAS device using internal IP address - don't know how secure it would be if you enable external web access to it through external IP and not sure if it would work as an FTP or something for downloading only not streaming possibly.
I use upnplay for streaming over a network in conjunction with moboplayer works great (probably the 2 best free apps iv ever come across).
Im interested in setting up a vpn to access my content whilst out and about or through someone elses wifi. Might have to invest in a sling box

I use Wyse PocketCloud from the Market to access two machines at work - one via remote desktop to take control of it, one with UltraVNC to share with other people on it. But if it's file sharing not just using your PCs' desktops - one of the guys here uses remote desktop to put files he needs into the Dropbox remotely, then picks them up in the Dropbox on his mobile. I don't use Dropbox yet - want to try setting up external access to the network files first to see how they work in File Expert if at all. Maybe TUN/CIFS modules are better for that but I haven't tried them out either.
Mobo Player the best!
and for audio FYI, i'd go for PowerAMP!
I'm using rock player, no issue for me so far.

[Q] How to play media over network on stock unit?

Are there any tricks to this that don't require me to copy the file? I found a file explorer that lets me mount network drives from my NAS, but I cannot run the avi/mkv from there.
Anyone got some good pointers, or even better - a step by step for new owners ?
Cheers!

That's the one I use for mounting the drive. Tried clicking, double-clicking, tapping, tapping it like I would tap a boy trying to date my daughter etc etc. Nothing happened...
I can play movies through that and it loads them in dice player. That's files off my shared folder on laptop on same LAN.

I got sick of trying to get high def/720p content to play over my network without lag (or even play off SD). So I bought Splashtop Streamer (the tablet version) which is a remote connection app that has the unique ability to stream at almost a full 30fps without lag, including sound. So then I just start a show/movie on my desktop, connect in, and watch it. Almost lag free. Hiccup every now and again but its pretty smooth overall. Highly recommend it.

I've got VLC setup on my server, running in HTTP server mode, and I'm using VLC Direct (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.vlcdirect.vlcdirect&hl=en). Works very well, and no copying is required. As an added bonus, you can use it in Remote Mode as well (not just streaming, which for all intents and purposes requires the pro version).
Thanks, guys! Got avis playing fine, and I even got mkv opened with another player. The mkv must have too high profile or something as it wasn't even stuttering (the image switched every ten seconds, so 6 images in the sound and video had a one minute lag ) even thouh the DTS sound worked fine
Will the VLC server downscale on-the-fly? Are there any options to do this? One of the major reasons for buying this was to watch movies in bed - or on the plane.
Are there any programs that will downscale movies to play well wit the Transformer?

[Question] Slow network stream

I am using ed file Explorer coupled with mx player and my. My files seem to stream very slowly from my computer. Anyone have any ideas how to increase the buffer? They are cached on an ssd and it does not make sense that I am having such a slow down.
There is a similar report over here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52331493
As per the report there is a pocket drop between ES to MX. Try some other file msnagers.
It may fix the issue.

I use File Manager HD for the same purpose and it works perfectly. I have a link to the network folder with my videos on the homescreen and it opens as instantly as any other map.
Seeking through videos is almost as smooth as local files, but that might be because it is actually on an external HDD, it may even be a lot faster on an internal SSD.
yeah it ges a lot of hiccups is there a better video player than MX Player with a longer buffer?
I use Root Explorer to get videos off an SMB network drive and it's also reasonably smooth.
When you use root you can't stream though correct? I have root Explorer as well.
... What do you mean by that? You can add an SMB address to Root Explorer by adding a new tab.

Just switched to Root Explorer!
Streaming is a lot smoother via Root Explorer for me...
However, MX player doesn't automatically pick up the subtitles like it used to do on ES..
Anyway around that? Because i can't browse to the SMB drive via the Subtitle panel of Mx Player..
Checked the same file via ES, worked perfectly...
Extra info: The file name is the same(exactly the same)..for both the video and the .srt file...
Am i doing something wrong?? Please Advice! I really need subtitles..:crying::crying::crying:
I'm not sure if it can pickup on external subs via network stream as I've never tried before; all my videos have embedded subs.
If you're big on network playback, I suggest trying BubbleUPNP DLNA app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118891

[Question] / [Bug] Using MX Player with ES File Explorer on Marshmallow

Hi guys, please help me out.
Sometimes I want to browse through my videos on my phone using ES File Explorer. Whenever I try to play a video, a list of applicable video players pops up. Of course, MX Player is on the list and I set that to default.
Here's the problem: When I want to play videos on the network (from my PC) using ES File Explorer, the list does not show MX Player at all so I can't use it to play my videos and most of them are even in MKV format. Even VLC for Android that I installed for testing won't show up on the list. I was surprised that QuickPic's video player is on there and I didn't even know they had a player. I can play videos over the network using MX Player w/ no problems on my Asus Zenfone 5 and OnePlus X which has Lollipop. I'm assuming this could be something with Marshmallow since my current device is a Moto X Pure with Android 6.0. I already emailed the dev team of ES and I yet to receive a reply from them.
I was thinking, if QuickPic can be detected by ES, maybe something could be done with MX Player as well.
Any ideas?
I had the same issue, but it got resolved by itself somehow. But I switched to Solid Explorer anyways. Much better.

I guess I'll try other file managers first. I'll give Solid a look.
Yes, on a nexus 5x. After I received my phone back from the repair centre it worked again, so a hard reset might have helped it.
You might have touched app links Settings available on marshmallow devices.

Nope. I haven't touched any of the settings like App Links. They're all on default.
Anyways, when I tried Solid Explorer, MX Player shows up on its list (finally!) but for certain file types only like MKV. Whenever I want to play MP4 videos, MX is no longer on the list. I guess it's also a file type issue of some sort.

Actually it's a bug with earlier marshmallow. Later it's fixed by Google. Just install any new video player you never had installed or intent intercept. Everything will back. Then you can uninstall the new app.
I have found a workaround for this bug & it's already applied by the Developer. Hopefully it will be on the next version.

Solid explore has some issues as well. It doesn't pick activities based on URI pattern. When it doesn't know the extension (for eg VOB), it just sends mimetype as */* which results in list of all activities available in system. Literally it will bring a large list with unnecessary apps & difficult to choose the right app.

I was facing same problem.
It doesn't need to switch either your file browser of player.
Just go to settings >> Access Permissions >> App Links >> Go to MX player & do the following settings..
"Go to "Open Supported links" & choose " Open in this App" OR "Ask Every Time".
It worked on OPX ( Marshmallow).
Hope it works for you..
I had just the same issue with ES 1.05 pro on galaxy Note 4, 6.0.1. I tried to fix by going in phone settings, application manager, ES file explorer, and there the button Clear defaults was active, so I hit it but again mkv files open with native es explorer video player and not MX player. For avi files it asks me how to open them and which player to use. Very strange. I got confused because it worked with mkv yesterday on my phone and I haven't done anything special.
Where is this "settings >> Access Permissions >> App Links" - in phone settings or es settings? I can't find it.
I uninstalled ES and then restored it through AppBackup&restore and it works now, strange.
Turn your mxplayer from hardware (HW) to software (SW) decoding. The button is on the main screen. I bet it says HW. Software decoding supports more file types including mp4 and mkv. Failing that, just rename your file with a avi extension (let mx player sort it out), then you will be able to select mxplayer from the list of players. L8r D

It's firmware bug on marshmallow devices. You have to just uninstall/disable the app that's set to default. Once you have done, MX Player will be listed again. Then you may install the app you have uninstalled.
