Does anyone have a good method of cleaning out the tiny holes for the speakers? I have a few filled up with particulate and was wondering on the best way to clean them out.
A pin maybe? Or a little vacuum for keyboards?

I work in a machining environment, we have renishaw cleaning tack (its for CMM probe tips). Works great, I pull metal shaving out of mine daily

No problem, only thing is dont get on you screen protector. pulled on a corner on my zagg.
Also note that not all holes go all the way through.
If you look close, a little less than half of the holes(on right side) on both the upper and lower grills are merely cosmetic and don't go all of the way through.

Hi I am currently awaiting delivery for my DHD (and it could be a week or two).
I am wondering if anyone who owns a Silicone case - or something similar, and has found a case that allows for the phone to sit flat on a table surface to allow for one handed use. With the camera design set out from the main body I am hoping the case would come up to this level preventing rocking action.
Does the phone rock around on a table when used without a case or is it bearable?
I will then add a screen protector perhaps a Zagg product or similar.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Si
mine is currently cases-less, and does rock around when it on the table. however, placing a little phone sock under the phone is good at reducing the rocking, but i cant find one big enough to fit the phone in yet.
still looking for a good case, but it seems 3rd parties are being slow with this phone.
I'm needing a case or something like a bumper for my DHD.
I've had it 3 weeks and dropped it twice on to hard surfaces, got 2 small scratches and a small dent at the power button (since the button was flush with the case to start with, its actually made it a bit better!! LOL)
but my luck won't last too much longer so I need to protect it...
any ideas??

I was thinking of using a phone sock to help keep it protected, the problem is having to slide the phone out every time i want to use it, id end up just leaving it somewhere. But keeping it steady with one is a good idea - but overall I'm looking for something more protective, good looking and will prevent the rocking.
I'm normally quite good with not dropping my phones, but a bumper or silicone case would be a must with a screen this size...don't really want to scratch or dent it (even if it has its upsides ;D ).
I'll keep looking, the annoying thing is that all the silicone ones I have found only have front or back on photos, not from the side...which is obviously important to check the level in relation to the camera area.
Cheers
Si
Was browsing through Google products and found this new one on Play, looks really cool not as dull and uninspired as the average silicone protector. I don't know again if it will help the issue with the raised camera, but I am still really interested.

I bought one of these and it does what it says on the tim. Protects the back and sides while offering unfettered access to the screen. It helps with the grip too, so I'm less likely to drop it (eek!)
Just so you know, the following case does have a slight wobble to it left and right when typing whilst on a flat surface. Not loads, but a wobble is there!

Yeah it looks good, nice to know its tougher than silicone, but unless it solves the rocking issue - I still prefer the one I found on Play...just because its cool looking.
but if you give it a go, let us know how well it performs and fits.
Well tbh I'm leaning toward the black one too but this TPU thing caught my attention and I was wondering if anyone has it

I don't think anyone should have it yet since HTC haven't released it.
I ordered it from handtec before but they say they will get it at the end of the month so I canceled mine.

It's not a cutout for the powerbutton.
It's for the 3.5 headphonejack.

think you will find it is for the power button the 3.5mm jack is on the bottom in the long oval cut out

To be honest, I don't think the picture shown is even the actual product. There is no hole for the speaker and the whole is definitely for the 3.5mm jack. (you can see the power button raised on the upper right corner). Since the case is not released yet, this is quite possible.
I've got this one too...
As CD993 says it does wobble, but only marginally... this is a TOUCH screen after all, you don't need to press very hard for it to respond!
The fact it's nearly £10 cheaper than the official HTC one (and yes, the image is wrong or else it's not going to have enough cutouts on the back!) is good enough for me!

I came across this.. lol Im gonna try it. Maybe some how line the inside of the cover from the top to the side so when in landscape the top of the foil is on the side of the cover/phone but still getting access to the wifi signal.. lol
I think this issue can be fixed if htc just redesignes the cover. It cant be that expensive. I bet if the some how do the same with metal, from the copper all the way to say both sides, no matter how you hold it should get signal. I think this could be fixed with a redesigned cover.
I know this is a funny thread, but seriously I havent tried it yet, but if it helps that just means they could design a new cover to work.

I wonder if you could somehow attach a piece of foil to the inside of the cover touching the gold antenna.

I'll be more scared of the foil paper touching the other component.

Maybe just little bit less foil on the gold prong. Would enhance the signal. While still being small enough to fit in the phone without effecting anything.

FYI he already made a post about this when he first put up that video
EDIT: Ok yall gonna think im crazy. But I held the phone with a towel reaaaaally tight over the wifi area, whole back, and etc. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wifi drop. Yea ok, conductor right? IPHONE issue? Well a case dont fix it? how come? so I decided to line my case (silicone I got from tmobile) with paper towel. LOL. I got two layers in it. Anyways, I wish my wife was here with Vibrina (my vibrant) to take a video for proof, but it works. Its muuuuch better. I could still probably kill the signal by covering completely or trying, but now I dont have to keep my hands in a certain spot.
TRY it.. LOL IT works for me. Ill post a video in about 4 hours of it. Before, while during and after to show its working. So Maybe a new case with some extra something will help? I dont know but if just a towel (one layer, the corner) can stop the issue completely, something has to be able to be done.
With my body glove on, I've never had any problems with wifi dropping.
Connecting? Sometimes. Weak gps signal? Oh yeah.

Ditto here. I have the soft rubbery case, no clip, and I never lose the WiFi signal, no matter how tightly I hold the phone, or where I hold it.

I got the case from the TMO store where I bought the phone. It's the one made from soft black rubber, and the rubber is textured, feels almost like finger prints, so it's not slippery at all. It cost me $9.
Thanks very much...

I tried what you suggested but without the case. I put the paper towel between my hand and phone ota only dropped to 1 bar. Without the paper towel I would lose connection.

Anyone found a good option for a motorcycle mount?
I have found a few.
One encases the whole unit in a waterproof case
Another that hold it upright on the handle bars
and the otterbox one.
Anyone have any real experience with any of the mounts available?
Yeah man, what I did was I bought a sidecar, and i superglued a car mount in that.
From what I have seen in some cycle online groups, RAM Mounts (google that, they'll pop up) seem to be pretty highly regarded. The are not, however, the least expensive option but they work well. It looks like they offer a sealed box and mount combo.
I have the one from "slipgripcarmounts.com" works really well.
RAMS look excellent but their pricey.
Thanks for the ideas!
Due to the Epic screen not working that well through gloves, I would really like to find one that would allow the keyboard to slide open while mounted. I have yet to find anything for this model though.
If I can't find anything soon I think i'll have to make one. I've already thought up a good design, i just have to figure out how to make it or convert one of the existing ones.
Hopefully something already exists and I just have yet to find it.

I understand the issue. I thought about that too but then realized I wouldn't be able to work the keyboard with my gloves on either. So I just cut off the tip of the right index finger on my riding gloves.

How far does your sim tray stick out when pushed in? It seems like it's sticking out way too far for me... not flush at all, like at least a millimeter.
Anyone know any tricks to get it to go in farther without damaging it?

There's probably a way to just use like a nail file or sandpaper to file something down just so it fits more properly, but don't know if I want to risk it.

Same problem with me man, I dont even know where they came from, its in the bottom bezel of mine, I managed to clean most of it out with a safety pin but if you look really close you can still see them
I use a piece of paper to slide through it. Works well for me

Might try to use a can of compressed air too.
So it's not just me, then!
Ah, it's good to hear that I'm not the only person with problems over the industrial design of the N5. I hate the nasty sharp edge round the screen! The N4 feels so much nicer in the hand. And it doesn't fill up with muck around the bezel.
Hahahaha just the thought of you eating a sandwich and crumbs falling onto the phone.
But yeah I got various bits of dust/ crumbs in the bottom bezel. Like they said, a piece of paper or a pin worked pretty well. Still an annoying oversight.
Had the same going on. Just used a small needle and all is good.
Canned air works great or if you have a case on it like the Spigen hybrid like I do, you could just blow on it really close and are able to push a lot of air pressure against the case.
Thanks for the paper tip!

I might ruin yours and everyone elses day here, but what about between the lens and the plastic casing around the camera.. that's what's bugging me at the moment there must be some variations in build quality, because NOTHING can get down the side of my screen, even paper creases.
Always use the edge of a piece of paper to get dust/lints/crumbs out from the edges. IMO using a needle/pin will eventually enlarge that gap and cause more crap to get stuck in there.

Also, a needle has potential to scratch if not used carefully.
