[Q] MZ617 network locked - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I got Motorola XYboard MZ617.
I rooted it and installed safestrap.
Now i have only one problem. i can't connect to internet because the tablet is locked to the Verizon network.
I would pay for the unlock code to unlock it, but the biggest problem is that there is no prompt for the code.
Anyone know any way to get the code prompt, or other way to unlock the network?

Well, i've decided to try to approach the solution myself.
Since flashing to custom ROM(whick does'nt exist for this) would debrand it, then i thought that maybe changing some files from retail version dump to the stock version would do it.
But i've searched the net for a retail version system dump, but have'nt fount any.
So anyone have a retail version dump or can make a dump? It does'nt necessarily have to be for same model. I think those carrier files are about the same for all.
I would compare the files and see if i can debrand this
EDIT:
For some reason, it appears that all other than 4G is working without any modification. I just needed to type APN settings manually.
All this time i though that everything is blocked, but appears not. But i still want the LTE/4G to work.
Now i've found out that maybe editing build.prop file would do the thing. So far no results when i tried to change few lines related to Verizon.

[Q] Custom ROMs/install guides for XT1028?

After months of being stuck on my Verizon Moto G with a locked bootloader, I finally managed to obtain freedom via the recent update to the SunShine app from jcase. My phone was having some issues prior to unlocking, and it took me several hours of labor and installing/reinstalling things to finally get TWRP and any ROM going properly. I've worked with Android tablets and custom ROMs before, but this is my first time on a Verizon phone.
I managed to get the N5X ROM installed and running, but I couldn't seem to resolve issues with data/mms, which I presume are APN related; trying to enter new APN settings in that ROM wouldn't save for whatever reason, either. For now, I'm back on an optimized stock 4.4.4 image until I can get that figured out.
My question: Is there any list of custom ROMs that do specifically work with a Verizon CDMA/XT1028 Moto G? Does anyone have a guide to getting these ROMs working on Verizon prepaid service, including any APN adjustments that need to be made? Thanks.
Followup: Still trying to figure this out, but the N5X ROM will give me working data if I enable Data Roaming. I've attempted to update the PRL for Verizon via *228, but the phone status still shows as roaming even though my PRL has been updated, displaying my network as T-CDMA 64. Is this simply an issue with my phone not properly identifying roaming/non-roaming due to the custom ROM? Verizon has the best coverage in my area, so I want to make sure it is connecting to the proper towers (and I'm not ACTUALLY roaming). Thanks.

Updating & Unlocking Sprint LG G Flex 2 (LS996)

I purchased a brand new LG G Flex 2 and It dawned on me that it was a Sprint variant LS996, rooted and unlocked. I do not live in the US and the phone is working fine with my local carrier, except that there is no tethering option. It currently has Android 5.1.1 installed and software version is ZV6. Since the phone is rooted, OTA updates download but fail during installation.
Now, what I want to achieve is to update the phone to the latest software version and also retain the carrier unlock. I would be thankful if someone can point me in the right direction. It would also be nice if I am able to make a full backup of my system in its current state so I can revert if things don't well.
Thanks
I am in the same situation with my LG g flex 2, there is no hotspot option.
Follow my back to stock guide with stock images on general section. That should help you to go unroot pretty easy and then ota update. Read through that forum there are several suggestions you may apply too.

Thanks for your reply. From what I understand, I have to flash stock ZV6, OTA update to ZV9, and then flash rooted ZV9. Will I lose the SIM unlock in the process? I have seen some people on another forum claim that they went through this process without losing the SIM unlock. On an another note, I managed to enable tethering by changing network mode to Lab in the LTE settings hidden menu. This also disabled the annoying Hands Free Activation screen. However, the Wi-Fi tethering is limited to 1 user. I tried the suggestion of changing SPR to GLOBAL in build.prop, but I couldn't save the file if I added anymore than three characters in place of SPR. I also tried adding dun to APN type in the LTE settings menu, but found out that APN type is not editable.

You wont lose sim unlock...
Just do the process...
I also deleted some of the folders in carrier and just left the apps and I really dont remember which other cause I sold my phone.

[SM-G920R7] S6 Thread

My goal would be to install Cyanogenmod on my SM-G920R7, but haven't been able to find too much help. Any of the rooting methods that seem to work on rest of the S6 variants, doesn't seem to work on this one. There is no TWRP available that I know of.
I would really appreciate any possible help. Thanks in advance.
i have the same problem
I think that this version of the s6 (the cspire version) isn't widely available enough and no one has bothered to make a root for it - ive been searching for a long time and still haven't found anything
I'd like to at least be able to root this thing.. On 5.1.1 now.
I have a rooted cellphone of this version (I purchased it rooted), is there any workaround to unlock GSM/LTE bands on this device?
----
Edit... Okay, so I went back to fresh stock with SmartSwitch, then flashed twrp-3.0.0-0-zerofltespr and Unikernel-v9b-BOH1-920P-100815 via odin 3.10.7, and rooted again... any method to enable gsm on this device yet?

How exactly did you root it again? Was it SM-G920R7?

Yes, it was SM-G920R7... first, I flashed twrp-3.0.0-0-zerofltespr , then Unikernel-v9b-BOH1-920P-100815 , both via ODIN (you can google both files), note these files are NOT for r7 version (they're for sprint version *g920p*) but they'll root the phone.
I ended up getting rid of the phone as there's afaik no way to enable gsm on it

That's not true. I finally rooted that model and got TWRP installed, and followed the steps to get the Sprint Galaxy S4 domestic SIM unlocked. I finally got data and texting working last night, but I can't get calls to work for some reason on an AT&T SIM card. It even shows up at AT&T as my provider. AFIK it is now SIM unlocked, the only thing not working is calls like I said. I'm sooooo close to getting this working. I need people with this phone that are doing the same thing i'm doing! I only paid $50 for it! lol
Can u help me get mine unlocked , ive already rooted the phone.

Any way to get the G920P roms to work on this variant? I've had luck with them with other c-spire/ntelos/r7 phones in the past. I'd like to flash Renegade to it...

Wonder if anyone has got calls working using GSM sim card? I have the cspire G920R7 rooted with LTE data working using AT&T sim.
Won't receive calls (straight to vmail) and when placing calls dialer says CALL ENDED immediatly after dialing.
hmmm.

I'm working on this too. So far I've got the same situation as you, Data works but no calls/text.
in a few weeks the person who wants me to unlock this phone for them is switching carriers and plans on buying a new phone to use until I can unlock the S6, so I'll have more time to mess with it then.
There's a few things I want to try, but I can't post links here (XDA rules).
One involves Rooting and using a service code to unlock the bands (google "TeamUSCellular GSM unlock S6")
The other also requires rooting and involves using "galaxy tools" to unlock the bands (not sure if this app works with marshmallow, though) (google "theandroidsoul how to sim unlock sprint galaxy S6")
My hopes are not high for getting this phone to work fully. I've also been trying to get custom ROMs to work, but I can't get the cell radio to work at all on custom ROMs. Even with the stock SM-G920R7 Kernel straight from the latest update .tar

Thanks for the suggestion, yeah I have tried galaxy tools (GT) to change the phone mode to LTE/GSM auto and tried different CSC values, and accessed the hidden menus through there. The sim unlock in GT asks for a code which I dont know, but the phone doesn't seem to be locked anyway since it doesn't care when I try different sim cards. Weird thing is the GT app doesn't work very well (most hidden menus not working) on the current rom i'm using but worked better on the stock cspire rom. Note, I tried using MSL 000000 in ##3282# data menu and it works but most the settings in there don't seem to be applicable to GSM networks.
Currently I'VE been messing with the build.prop file, also tried the CDMA to GSM flashable zip which edits the build.prop but nothing has gotten better. One time after editing the build.prop the phone would only turn on with a blank screen and vibrate every few seconds, that was SCARY. Also was planning on flashing other radio/modem but having trouble finding many of those files and pulling them from roms seems difficult to get the correct file to flash on odin.

I'm not sure you'll even be able to flash other models' modem..? I can't say I've ever tried.
Anyway, getting your hands on the firmware is easy. Just use SamFirm (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647)
To use it, just input the model number (SM-G920R7/R4/P/V/T/A) and the region code, then select "auto".
Region codes and model numbers:
C-Spire: ACG (SM-G920R7)
US-Cellular: USC (SM-G920R4)
Sprint: SPR (SM-G920P)
Verizon: VZW (Locked out from download, app can't download) (SM-G920V)
T-mobile: TMB (SM-G920T)
ATT: ATT (Locked out from download, app can't download) (SM-G920A)
This app downloads firmwares directly from Samsung servers, so the download is really fast and guaranteed to be perfect/stock.
**the SM-G920R7 is closest related to the SM-G920R4 (US Cellular) & SM-G920P (Sprint). The US Cellular one recently supports GSM Bands natively without any rooting/messing with hidden settings, so that's where i'd start. You may not even need the baseband/modem, just flash the rom? I'm not sure. Good luck dude It'd be awesome if you get it working
*** Also, make sure you have a backup of your EFS before messing with the modem. Apparently if you flash an incompatible modem you can erase/corrupt the EFS partition and lose your IMEI. Hell, make a FULL backup with TWRP, and make sure that backup is copied over to your computer before doing any flashing. You can't be too careful with this.
Haven't had any luck flashing stock firmware or modems from other models using Odin, errors with a security message or something, tried G920A and G920R4. Probably for the best I suppose. Flashing custom roms has not been a problem, even if the don't work properly. Wonder if there is a test mode or way to use logcat to see why calls don't proceed like normal. Never worked on going CDMA to GSM before, I always did CDMA to CDMA in the past.

[Completed] Help!! Galaxy J100H not registered on network.

Greetings, sharing here my particular problem from top to bottom just to take advice in general.
First of all, I live in Cuba, so my one and only network is Cubacel which runs GSM 900 mhz, so far so good with most phones.
I am between phones so I boorrowed this used J100h from a friend, which received it as a gift and has never been used. I performed a hard reset to wipe password, data, etc. Phone boots ok but no calls with cuban SIM.
The curious thing is that it does recognizes Cubacel network, it evens shows the changes on signal intensity. Bu when I try to manually add it, it finds and displays the network by its name, but reports an error when trying to register.
After 3 days of internet search I´ve narrowed to the following: I suspect the phone was unlocked or flashed previously, there is no network promo when turning on the phone but there is chinese rooting software installed and the cell is, or seems via root checker, rooted. Thought an extra /01 after the IMEI was a sign of corruption until I leraned about IMEI SV. Anyway, following this thought installed busybox and root explorer, checked efs folder, finding subfolders such as imei, factory app, etc, BUT NO .NV file. inside imei folder ther is a imeino1 file with the correct imei, but no .nv file outside. Is this fixable?? GSII repair doesnt work because seems theres is an error with the busy box install, what gives me doubts if the phone is really rooted, and if i need to be online to install busybox properly.
So, If I decide to try and flash stock rom and see if this fixes the problem here is my main doubt, which may seem obvious for some but i simply can figure out. Which stock rom version do I choose? the product code of the cell is ITV, and the bootloader also points to the italian version but the currently installed rom ends in AOG2, seemingly a greek version. I live in Cuba and everywhere I look people say that since the telephone is sim free you can install any rom, but the is no "any" or standard rom either in samsung firware o sammobile. Do I flash the same rom? do I flash the one matching the bootloader? Which stock rom version should I choose?
Very much appreciated if you have gone so far in this reading and have some piece of advice. Also excuse terrible English.
Hi !
I see plenty of firmwares on samsung website so pick one and see how it works , it doesn`t matter the region , you won`t damage anything , maybe the modifications that has been made on the device borked the network , clean stock firmware flash may resurrect it and try the one which matches the bootloader
You may have a look here as well https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-gennxt-prerooted-stock-t3126368
Good luck !

Question Can't change CSC from T-Mobile to Verizon with firmware S908USQU2AVDC

A question from a noob here. I have a T-Mobile S22 Ultra phone which is network unlocked. As I recently I switched from T-Mobile to Verizon, I'm missing some of the features that are Verizon specific, while not needing anything that is T-Mobile specific anymore. From what I understand, Samsung installs multi SCS firmware on most of the phones these days, which can be changed by a dialer code. That however did not work at all.
Another option I've come across is by flashing provider specific (in my case Verizon) firmware as long as firmware version is the same (S908USQU2AVDC). There are a number of articles on how to do it by using Odin. The issues is no matter what I do and what files I select (like by using CSC file instead of HOME_CSC with or without flashing USERDATA file as well) the result is the same. It shows success and reboots and then reports an error and does the full factory reset which ends up back on T-Mobile version.
The question I have if it's even possible? And if so what I'm doing wrong here. Unlocking a bootloader is not really an option for me...

In theory, flashing the correct firmware (VERIZON) should work. I would honestly first wipe the device, then flash (clean, not dirty) the Verizon firmware and setup accordingly. I had a similar case with a TMBILE unit (I had changed carriers) and I had managed to use XAA CSC and then when I reverted to TMOBILE SIM it would not "restart and install carrier updates". I had to basically switch the unit to U1 and then revert to U and it finally pulled all the TMO crap.
I may be mistaken since I haven't done this type stuff since S10, but I think you need to first reset the device and flash the unlocked version then when you put the verizon sim in it should provision it. Then you can flash the verizon package if you want the bloat apps. The features may be hit or miss. You may need to activate the features on the verizon website. Some features may never work as the carrier wont push them to IMEI not in their database of branded phones. There may be things you can do in hidden settings with "Activity Launcher" or other methods.
I'm here trying to figure out the same things for Tmobile and a factory Unlocked phone, before I buy.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions guys! I managed to do what I wanted. This is what I ended up doing, first flashed the unbranded U1 version on my phone and on the first boot Verizon sim was provisioned. Then I flashed Verizon firmware and it worked!
