Am I the only one who's noticed that the headset controls don't work for pausing/playing or really doing anything with music at all? No matter what headset I try, the remote control just jumps straight to the recent calls list and attempts to call the last person I dialed..what gives? Is this unique to me or is anyone else experiencing this? Does anyone know of an in-ear canal headset that has working music remote controls?
try using a different music player from market such as cubed ^3 or mixzing, then go into the setting for that music player and make sure use headphone controls is activated
I just tried both of those music apps, and while I HAVE to thank you for showing me mixzing (nice improvement over the stock android app), the headset controls STILL do the same thing! I unchecked and rechecked the settings and no matter what, the phone always defaults to opening the recent calls list instead of pausing/playing/skipping..
Is there anyone else out there having this issue with their Epic? Perhaps I got a defective unit?
glad u liked mixzing, cubed in my opinion is even sicker. I get my epic tomorrow so ill check and let u know how it goes
Thanks for your help Ravizzle - I'm anxiously awaiting your results! I tried cubed, but I found the cube interface a little too flashy and unintuitive - I did only give it a single glance over and headset check, so perhaps I need to give it a bit more time next time
Got my epic today, sadly it didnt work for me either with the included wired headset. My stereo bluetooth is charging so ill try that out and see, but so far its disappointing that headphone controls dont work, perhaps the email the devs for mixzing and cubed and maybe they need to add support for epic still cuz its new.
Well I guess it's good news mine's not defective..but still pretty freking annoying. I'm surprised I don't hear many people complaining about this..I've tried a bluetooth headset and the controls do appear to work, but I hate the look of wearing a BT headset - I feel sort of..well I wont go in to that. Regardless, I realize there are devices like the the Jabra Clipper which would make me feel slightly less..you know. Anyone have any preferences on devices like these?
I use the Motorola Rokkers Bluetooth. They don't look silly cause it's on both ears unlike those Jawbreaker things. They look very sporty and I use them for walking and bicycle riding. The sound is HD and the controls all work. I am using 3 cube music.
I noticed that I can't answer a call (unlike my Evo and Moment) when using with the Epic. That sucks, but all the music controls work fine and the sound is incredible. My Rokkers are a year or so old - maybe I'll try the newer ones to see if I get the phone controls back.

I too am surprised at the lack of post about the BT problems. I have no handsfree control on the epic. For one that paid full retail for the phone I pretty POed about it. (Plus no spell checker in email, can't download attachments via exchange) I smell a 30day return coming if things don't improve.
I use the lg hbs 200 bluetooth stereo headset and i like them a lot. They are lightweight and they fold up nicely. U can get em off amazon. heres the amazon link http://www.amazon.com/LG-SGBS0001606-Bluetooth-Headset-HBS-200/dp/B001KHVRJU
Well, I just ended up getting a Jabra Clipper. Amazon and Verizon stores both sell them, and it serves my needs well. You can use the headphones of your choice (though it comes with an OK pair), and all remote functions work. I like it so far (especially since I don't look like a tool with a big flashing blue light around my neck).
Highly suggested!

I bought this, too; I had the older dogtag mini-usb model, but the audio out had broken... Verizon has it with free overnight shipping for ~$5 cheaper than Amazon right now.
I ran into a problem, though -- I couldn't get it working with my music player. No play/pause, no next/prev. Someone else suggested TuneWiki, so I installed that and it actually works great, but it's something to be aware of if you're considering this.
(Also, in place of dedicated next and prev buttons, you have to hold the vol-up and vol-down for a second or so, but but it works pretty okay. I wish the volume buttons on the phone worked like that, too. )
For those of you wondering why- It's because samsung puts there polarity in different order than most companies do. When people make headphones they generally make them to the polarity of apple's.
This is also why bluetooth ones work fine, and wired don't.
Do you guys hear buzzing when you use headphones with a mic?
I'm going to grab the Nexus One Dock from HTC. Been without a dock AND screen protector ever since I got this phone.. 6months ago? No problems yet though...
Anyways the Nexus One Dock can ouput to speakers.. are there any good portable mini ones with a remote? if not, then without a remote? Looking to put this on my beside table, which doesn't have alot of room.
Edit: I remember looking at these small speakers that were designed as a robot.. forgot the names, anyone got a clue?
Thanks

Ive heard good things about these cheapies. Anyone else?
I was looking for a remote similar to the one that came with the G1. It allowed the use of any 3.5 jack headphones and was able to skip/pause songs. Is there anything like that for the G2?
So I ended up finding these two that have skip/play etc, but I'm not sure if they work if anyone has tried any of these two please respond if they worked or not. Thank you

As far as i know those are standard so you should be able to pick up one for any brand that fits your fancy, personally i use one made for an iPhone and also bluetooth remotes should work as well [on winamp at least]
I just got one of these. Cheapest i could find new or refurb... $28.95

There's already a thread about this. But good find on the price.
I bought it. The only thing I don't like is the Car Mode and the audio isn't coming from the audio port of the phone so it doesn't sound as great if you were to connect the audio directly. Oh yeah and the charger always seem to make my phone overheat. So I ended up using my other car charger. But other than that it's a nice piece.
I love how the images show the phone in the dock upside down. If you look at all three of the images you'll notice 1 is not like the others. The OEM box at T-mobile has the same error in it's picture.
LoL, i did not even notice that. Got to love Photoshop!
I got mine at a t-mobile store and they had it in their system for $20 even though it was tagged at $40. I was happy with it all the way up until I flashed GB and now its just a nice place to put my phone and look at it. Line out no longer works right.
Beefvvl - there are other car mode launchers. I happen to like Car Home Ultra a lot. It's not free, but I don't see $1.99 as much of a barrier (there's a trial mode).
There's also a free app to switch car mode app to the USB (so it comes out in the car holder mount). Google "SGS Dock Speaker" (can't remember where I got it).
Also, Tasker can do this (as well as a myriad of other things). I haven't found time to start setting it up, so I'm still using the app above, though.
I'm still looking for a decent dual-USB high output car charger. The one that comes with the car mount seems to charge OK, but it's putting noise on my mount audio output (intermittent high wine). I put a Q about it on the Q&A forum...
So I know this isn't specific to the Note 4, but thought I'd share... feel free to remove if not appropriate. Thanks!

I actually ran across this thing while making copies at Kinkos. LOL!
I didn't buy it there though... they were charging way to much for it. I ended up picking it up from the local Best Buy for $25.
Anyway, I like how small the thing is. It works great. I put a velcro sticky dot on the back side of it and then one on the dash near the AUX port (headphone jack) to mount and it's quite minimal and unobtrusive.
I've not used it super extensively yet so can't speak to battery live though the package claims 12 hours. I can say that it paired without issue to the Note and worked perfectly. Quite a nice little device for those of us with older car stereos that don't have built in bluetooth.
On the downside, it does not work for calls or anything like that. Calls can come though just fine, but the bluetooth cuts off and you have to use the phone in normal mode. Bluetooth comes back on and music resumes once the call is ended. Would have been nice if it pumped the call through the car speakers too, but oh well.
Anyway, just a quick review. Ask questions if you have them. Thanks!
