You can actually grab the same here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2714516
I wouldn't waste too much time on it though. This has been tried on the S4 and Note 3 and as soon as you modify the system.img it no longer allows to flash due to Samsung's signature checks in bootloader.

Whip up a new checksum and try that too.
If I still had a *nix box I would be all over this.....unfortunately I'm down to 1 pathetic 'puter at the moment.

Will not work, already tried with a patch from Chainfire. It's the reason At and Verizon can't use his patch. Both models use a Samsung key for the tarball, it loads in odin, fails in the end, then leaves the phone in unbeatable state. Requires a load of stock firmware to get going sgain. Too bad, we need a runtime exploit for root.

If you go into developer options, you can select runtime system. When ART is selected, your Samsung boot screen has a open lock on it. That is a runtime exploit. I don't know what it does, but maybe that's an avenue to approach. Maybe some senior dev could explain the differences and if it could be used. Just asking. TIA :fingers-crossed:

Has anyone tried inserting an exploit when the system is switched from Dalvik to ART?
Surely there must be a way to take advantage of this since Samsung considers the phone to be "custom" when you switch (boot splash changes and everything).
I bet if there's an exploit, it has to do with that.

Here's the interesting part, in Download mode I don't see a KNOX counter at all. I'm not familiar with new devices, but this is what my screen says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT: SM-G900V
CURRENT BINARY: SAMSUNG OFFICIAL
SYSTEM STATUS: CUSTOM
REACTIVATION LOCK(KK): OFF
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE (CSB)
RP SWREV: S1, T1, R1, A1, P1
UDC START
Click to collapse
Now, I may be crazy but I'm pretty sure the S4 and N3 both have a Knox counter in Download even if you haven't done anything to it yet. But maybe I'm just nuts.

I think you may be on to something here.. With all the code I see, it looks like certain booting processes and such have changed....ART stands for 'Android Runtime' and is experimental to 4.4.2 ... Sounds like experimental, may be a key to getting root......

Kuronosan you should tell chainfire or Jcase about this
Follow Me @Bash_array

Have tried updating the kernel and get a phone (galaxy S5) that goes into recovery mode, I downloaded a couple of full stock ROMS to put back on the phone through ODIN. Also here is the verizon assistant for a S5 900V

Info
What's New
Advises
This version is based on Android 4.3 but with a heavy modification by samsung
The rom itself is stable and it can be used as a daily rom.
Thanks to @aresbv2000 for pointing that out
OK....this thread is a whole mess...no one gave us a real answer so i decided to flash the firmware.
Flashed the entire zip...AP,BL,CSC and CP.
So far everything is ok.
-All phone will be wiped at the first boot(except External SDCard)
-The sound is working perfectly
-Wireless is working
-Phone is working as well
-Keyboard doesn`t FC.
-Camera firmware updates at the first boot.
-Te Knox Warranty remains 0x0.
-All the ****ty apps that are installed at the first boot are uninstallable.
-TouchWiz has a little more less lag(still exists...but wtf...is not a Nexus device...is a Samsung)
-Antutu score is around 29500 pts.
-About root, I don`t know because i just flashed this firmware.
-And YES....you can downgrade to 4.2.2 and Knox still remains 0x0.
Whats New:
New Knox Mode
New Knox Counter [Present in MH8 as well]
New Read Mode
Some Performance Tweaks
New Camera Firmware
That's all i can say for now since i don't use "all apps that came with it"
Due to samsung new bootloader everyone that doesn't have the new bootloade doesn't seem to be able to use this, same thing is if we on the new bootloade want to degrade to older firmware.
Audio and wifi won't work unless on you're on the new bootloader explanation above.
The Knox Warranty won't be triggered if you flash this odin mode, it will be triggered if you however flash a unsigned kernel, or anything thats not signed by samsung ?
Code:
[TIMA boot measurement] : kernel secure check fail..SECURE FAIL: KERNEL.[TIMA boot measurement] : Old/non-CL device - KNOX warranty void.....kernel @ %x (%d bytes)....ramdisk @ %x (%d bytes).....mem=100M console=null...console=....console=ttyHSL0,115200,n8%s. sec_log=0x%[email protected]%x.. sec_dbg=0x%[email protected]%x.. sec_debug.reset_reason=0x%x....
as well as theese: androidboot.bootloader=%s..I9505XXUDMH8
To use this you need to either flash it with Odin or a flashable zip. its you're decission!
Samsung Knox "mode" will not work if your counter has triggered 0x1 it doesn't matter if you have official in system status.
You can root this with CF-Auto Root. there will not be ANY issues except that Knox notification manager warns you over and over again, so you might want to disable tat one
Do not use Triangle away to get status official in system settings (i use wanam xposed) and it works! also don't use mobile odin on the latest bootloader

Great! When I am home than going to do this. You took away my doubt.

[Q] Got replacement GS3 from Asurion, took the 4.3 update without thinking.

Like I said, got the replacement, took the OTA that first comes up without thinking. I just want my MIUI back, but from what I've read this seems impossible. There's no way to ODIN back to an earlier stock, and I can't root and install non-touchwiz ROMs, correct? Will there likely be a way of doing this in the future? Agh. I can't believe I took the update. What are my options (links appreciated) at this point?
EDIT: Oh no. First thing I did when I read that the 4.1.2 root option no longer works, was try to ODIN back to whatever the august stock was. It said failed. Now when I boot my phone, I get "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please use Software Repair Assistant & try again". Did I hardbrick my brand new replacement?

You can root and only install VRUCML1 TW roms. You are correct that you can not flash AOSP roms once you are stuck with the VRUCML1 4.3 TW ota. To be blunt, don't count on ever being able to use AOSP once you're on the TW VRUCML1 ota. You can root via Saferoot, install Safestrap, and flash TW VRUCML1 4.3 roms only. Everything you need is here. If none of this sounds to your liking, change phones.

Is it possible to change System Status to Offical in Bootloader? Note 5

Hi Everyone,
So I'm at Best Buy trying to get my phone fixed and they'll flash their software if I can get the bootloader to say System Status: Offical right now it says System Status: Custom. Is this basic I have a custom kernel? I tried to flash the stock CIO5 kernel after flashing CIO5 Stock ROM but it didn't work. I used the (CIO5 stock Non-rooted kernel) boot.tar.md5 file in Forever Loco's ROM thread page #27 (I think). Thanks in advance for your help!

You need to do a full wipe and then odin flash the official coi5 n920t firmware.
After doing that the phone should say "status official".
It will never say "official" if all you do is flash zip file roms in twrp or in philz recovery or odin flash kernels.
Good luck,
Have a great day

Misterjunky was absolutely correct. Unfortunately though, KNOX will still remain triggered. I SURE hope someone figures out how to reset that before I'm ready for next JUMP upgrade. ?
Sent from my SM-N920C using Tapatalk
They don't check KNOX flags for Jumps do they? I would really doubt it, but who knows? For once in my life I'm keeping this Android stock. I want to use Samsung Pay when my bank supports it.
This is kind of strange because it's like Best Buy saying "we'll fix it for you if you can fix it first" lol. But yes, you won't be able to revert the bootloader Knox flag, but you can get the status in the settings back to Official, by flashing the official firmware yourself(then why would Best Buy need to do it?). Also I think there was an xposed module to fake official status in the settings.

Nah, Tmobile stores don't check Knox. I just traded in a Note 4 on JUMP and I don't think they even powered the phone on at all. They did kind of scrutinize the physical condition somewhat, but he may have just been checking the water damage sensor.
I have traded in three or four knox 0x1 / 0x2 without ever being stopped or back charged for it. The devices are sold to their insurance company where they are used for parts. The only time they might be concerned is if you trade it in within 2 weeks as they re-sell those phones and would be unable to sell it with knox tripped :highfive:
Knox being tripped wasn't the issue it was the system status line (see attached pic) they wouldn't flash because of that line. What happened was (I think) while flashing using Odin I must have accidentally clicked clear efs. So after trying literally everything I could find/think of I couldn't get the IMEI # changed in the secret menus (not sure if that's the right name) because I couldn't find the code that would get me to the menu to do it. It doesn't matter I lost the dam* phone.

Looks like you didn't factory reset it after you odin'd back to stock.
Try it again. Odin back to stock. The very initial boot, go into factory recovery and wipe data. You should be good to go after that

So I have followed Hydromans rooting instructions closely, but no matter what, I am failing in Odin. Even tried to flash fresh firmware in case I missed a setting somewhere, but Im stumped. Dev Options on, both boxes ticked, downloaded boot.tar from Hydromans link, Odin 12.3. Samsung drivers are up to date as well. Ive even used debloater to block Knox packages first, but fail, fail, fail. How did you overcome this in order to set SELinux to permissive??

I believe that model has the Exynos cpu, you can download cpu-z from the market to check. If so, you can follow the directions in this link to add twrp recovery and root while doing so.

Samsung Health not working after OREO update

Hi Guys,
Yesterday I updated my phone via Odin to Oreo, but unfortunately samsung health says that my phone is rooted and it is not working anymore. ( Of course my phone is not rooted, I used stock firmware)
I think the problem is I used different region code firmware. Am I right? How can I use the app again? Wait for my original country's firmware and update via Odin would be a solution?

It detects Knox is 0x1. To fix this you must root your phone, go with root browser to the root of the device (/) then /efs. There you'll find a file "factory.prop". Open it and add there "ro.config.tima=0". Then you can unroot/reflash stock ROM and s health works

Yes! It is working now. You need to flash every stuff from the downloaded zip. Thankfully SamMobile attached everything you need.

As I see a lot of people facing this issue, and all "expert " recommends root. But there are other options too.

Experts recommend root if your KNOX is 0x1 because that is the only solution, if you fail to read up on how to flash firmware and end up with a problem because of your own fault, and fail to mention in your main post that you didn't flash the firmware correctly, we are not psychic, we can only go on the info you give us
Next time, learn how to flash firmware the correct way first

Experts recommend root if your KNOX is 0x1 because that is the only solution, if you fail to read up on how to flash firmware and end up with a problem because of your own fault, and fail to mention in your main post that you didn't flash the firmware correctly, we are not psychic, we can only go on the info you give us

That's true, that was my mistake... in good old Times as I remember only AP was included in the ZIP,and that was enough.

Yep, with my S5 that was the method, but instructions for S7 are under the download on sammobile's site and all over this forum
As a rule when I get a new phone I spend a good few weeks reading threads before I attempt anything, even a simple stock flash, saves possible bricks and other problems like this one
Anyway good it's working again
I have the exactly same issue knox is 0x0 but Samsung health isn't working, can you please explain the exact steps about the following message how can i run Samsung health in g955u secure folder is also not working
Yes! It is working now. You need to flash every stuff from the downloaded zip. Thankfully SamMobile attached everything you need.
