Hi Guys!
First post here.
Long story short, I put my Moto G to recharge with his own charger, the damn thing started to loop in boot. It powers on, shows the boot logo, vibrates, then stays in black screen but powered for a couple seconds, then reboot again.
I never installed any custom ROM, unlocked bootloader or anything else, in fact, before this I never bothered learning about flashing Android devices. I'm an IT Manager, so the tech terms are no problem, also working with scripts and codding.
Now, because I'm in Brazil and our local Motorola Tech Support is a total disaster, I decided to try solve this on my own, little I knew about the hell I would go trough.
First I tried the Hard Reset, the thing is, my Moto G rebooted when I tried to enter the Recovery Menu.
I tried a Stock 4.4.2 Firmware, no good at all.
I have all the procedures I tried in this thread: ww w.firmware-team.com/showthread.php?p=2564
(remove the space, because I'm a new user, they block me from posting an external link, even if it would help to understand the problem)
If anyone could help me with this, I bought this Moto G less than 4 months, will be a shame If it is lost.
Seems I can't even edit my post until wait 5 minutes. I'm sure you have good reasons, but edit the post should be available, new post should be blocked.

After everything you've done i can't suggest you anything.
But have you considered that maybe something in the hardware broke when you charged it?
As far as i know motorola never made a charger for this phone but many carriers bundle a charger with the phone, hopefully a motorola branded one.
see if you can claim the warranty.
Also, can you post the input/output of the charger you used?

In some regions (mostly in Asia) you do get 500mAh charger instead of OTG cable.
Actually, this is probably a battery problem guys. Luckily you have the Moto G and not the X so you can easily remove the battery. Order a new one, make *absolute* sure it's original. Try Amazon or eBay, but make sure it's not used.

Also, try a different outlet source, 1amp or 2amp charger, and different cable.
Personally, what I would do to work around your problem, is order a aftermarket battery set where you can charge the batteries outside the phone (directly w/ adapter), and swap em out when your phone dies. Back when I had a Galaxy this was a life-saver, never tied to an outlet during the day and also helped me in emergency situations.

Hi!
My charger is branded by Motorola, 850mAh, 5.1V.
I could agree that some hardware may broke during the charge, but which part? Because the battery still charges, the device still connects through Fast Boot menu.

The battery on Moto G is not removable without removing the screws and back plate of the phone. Also, the battery stills charges, and the phone can go all day long rebooting, until the battery discharge.

I'm not familiarized with phone hardware, but seeing that i'm talking with an IT colleague i can make an analogy
Based on the symptoms you describe, it looks like your HDD, or the HDD chipset is fried.
Now, as in phones almost everything are SoCs (System on a Chip) it does not do any good to know which part is broken because the repair involves changing or replacing almost the entire phone internals.

I see. What I find most weird is that when writing(flashing) the firmware, I get no errors, seems all the files were written fine.
Maybe is the Partition table. Is there anyway to completely format these Android Devices, like wiping the disk entirely? Because I tried the Blank Flash procedure, but seems the MBR on the disk is not erased in the process.

As far as i know, there aren't ways to play with the partitions in the Moto G.

if i were you, i'd try my chances claiming the warranty if there is one and they don't mind you unlocking the bootloader.

Can you guys help me, I bricked my Atrix 2 but I am not sure which state of brick it is in. When I connect the device to its wall charger it boots up into the Motorola "M" Dual Core Screen and never moves from that spot. And when I plug the phone into the computer port it only shows a white light and I am unable to boot it up. Also when I go into fast boot it gives me the message saying "Low Battery" "Connect Cable and etc"
Is there any way to charge my bricked phone or unbrick it. The version is 2.3.6

You have a soft brick..dont worry its fixable..first you need to charge your battery using a wall charger..then flash the appropriate fxz for your phone..all will be good then
Get a Moto factory cable or external battery charger. Don't make the cable unless you know what you're doing, I can't recommend the "Mcguyver method" either, just order one online, be about $3 total, and be patient, your phone will be phone don't screw it up now like I did
Are there any applications online that would unbrick rather than buy the factory cable?
And thank you for the responses.

Once you get the battery charged you can use RSD lite or an FXZ script. Either way you need to purchase something, but like I said, it's $3, the biggest thing is waiting the 2-3 weeks. I can't recommend slapping 5 volts over the terminals of a lithium ion battery, it just really doesn't sound like a good idea to me, but if you want to you can do that. You need to power your phone, either by charging the battery, using the "Mcguyver method", using a Motorola factory cable, once you have power to the phone, you can flash a firmware and have a working phone. I hardbricked my phone because I screwed up making my own Moto factory cable, I can only hope the place I bought it from will replace it.

I have used The McGyver Method, but since my situation wouldn't allow for an FXZ either with RSDLite or by running a script (ICS leak #2 to GB attempt), I opted to fry the motherboard by hooking it up to my car battery - which I do not recommend - and sent back to Motorola for a warranty replacement. As far as the McGyver Method, I'm not certain that it actually charges the phone, and there's really no way to tell, seeing as how this is only useful if in a soft brick state (AP Fastboot/Low Power Cannot Charge). But, it is definitely worth a try, as long as you're careful. Others have found success with this method, and as long as you're not a complete caveman, you shouldn't have anything to worry about as far as "exploding your battery" or whatever. Like I said, since my situation was different than most, no .xml or FXZ or script would flash, so I had to give the phone a death sentence. As a last resort, but a noted working one, you should have the ability to flash this way without any charge to your battery...
Thanks For The Help, I will try that method, then buy the factory cable as my last resort.
THANKS.

If you're hard bricked, you're completely out of luck. Other than McGyver for a soft bricked phone, can buy a new battery or an external battery charger...

Car battery is a good idea, I sent my Atrix 2 in for repairs after I possibly fried the micro usb port or something on the motherboard. Should have done this and said it just died, no way of proving otherwise, very clever.
As the title says.
Thinking of getting this device on the cheap. I have a Moto factory cable that i've used to flash stock firmware onto a couple different devices.
Would that same cable work on this device to get it into fastboot?
Are there any cases of completely hard bricked devices?
Also, if any of you experts know some questions i might want to ask the guy, I'm all ears! Thanks!

You can use the moto factory cable on the xoom but that just gives it power to fastboot.
You can have a xoom be hard bricked. If you plug it in and it shows up as a APX device it is hard bricked. (i own one that's sits in the drawer for spare parts for it's replacement) The charge light will still come on.
What type of xoom is it a (wifi 3g/4g family edition)
You should ask what caused it to brick?
was he rooted?
If you buy it post here and I can give a one click restore for it. AI have it for most versions of the xoom.
Be Sure...
Before you buy it I would recommend getting as much information as possible from the seller as this device may be beyond repair. If the device can still be recognized in fast boot then you should be fine.
if it is a 3g/4g xoom you might want to get the esn/meid number and check with verizon if it is clean.
If the bootloader is damaged it is of no use other than spare parts. You must at the very least be able to get to fast boot. If it is not recognised when plugged into the USB there is nothing to be done without serious hardware hacking.
I have one just like that in a box. It is rare, but it happens. It will not even flicker when powered up - nothing.

This morning while loading a webpage (20% of battery life left) my MZ601 just froze, didn't respond to any screen or button presses, slowly went to sleep and has resisted all attempts to start since then. Even hooked up to the charger for the last hour, it still doesn't respond no matter what buttons I press, completely blank, no lights, nada...
I'm guessing it's a dead parrot, has anyone else had a similar Xoom death?
EDIT: Just found a more appropriate thread, ignore...
So I have a RAZR MAXX HD that has been rooted running Cyangenmod 10.2 and bootloader unlocked for a few months now. But the last couple weeks, each time I plugged phone up to charge, it kept starting a reboot loop. Each time it reached the start of Cyanagenmod boot logo, it restarted. So I thought maybe it was a bug in the latest Cyangenmod. So I tried updating. But I didnt realize that I accidentally chose Cyangenmod 11, thus when it was installing in Clockwork Mod Recvoery, it errored out about 1/3 of the way through. This erased everything.
So I was going to try hooking up to my MacBook and using fastboot to load new OS. However, as soon as i plugged in my phone, my computer shut down and would not turn back on. Had to go to Apple store to do a hard SMC reset. Thought that was a fluke and tried using my computer again and same thing happened. Phone still has CWM recovery working (i think properly). How do I get a working phone again? I tried putting OS on SD card on another phone and putting SD card my MAXX HD in and trying. That installed OS fine but when i rebooted, it still would not go past "bootloader unlocked" warning screen.
Also, I tried once more to plug in to my computer once more last night. However, it did not shut my computer down, but I did get a warning from OSX to unplug the USB device that was consuming too much power.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
i would tend to be more concerned as to why its drawing to much power before trying to get it working again. did you try another usb cable? and check the charging port for debris? seems like something is causing a short circuit. this wouldnt be noticable while charging normally except it would likely take longer than it should to charge. if you rule out the things i have suggested above and its still has the short then there is likely a hardware issue, which over time will certainly get worse to the point of failure.
i dont see how a software issue would effect the charging circuit, i could be wrong.

Thanks for replying. I have tried multiple USB cables and they all do the same. And I know it isnt my computer USB slot since other devices/phones do not trip my power on my MacBook. Do you or anyone else who might read this reply know if I could send the phone in for repair under warranty considering it is rooted and bootloader unlocked? Im not too sure if unlocking the bootloader could cause power issues like this and if companies would even help for hardware issues since it is rooted/unlocked.

i don't see how rooting or unlock the bootloader could cause this as they are both generally software.
sending it in under warranty is a big risk imo, you would be better off if it was fried and they couldn't see the bl unlock and root. if they see it, they could likely bill you for the replacement phone, if they don't notice, you will likely get a refirb that's updated past the point of unlocking. so there will be no more modding. plus the phone is a couple years old, personally i would look to upgrade.
just some food for thought.
btw, i shelved my rmhd for a g2, the rmhd is a great phone, but the g2 just blows it away in almost every aspect.

Thanks man.. Yea i was kind of thinking the same thing but wasnt too sure. Maybe I can go somewhere locally and see if they can repair it for cheap. After having a phone that goes 1.5 days on one charge, I got spoiled. LOL plus I love the build quality much more than most oter phones like S3/4 etc.
Hey guys! (sorry for my bad english)
I have a serius problem with my Moto G xt1032, is a "medium" brick, when i was flashing, it ran very quick out of the safe battery levels, now i can't boot normally or charge the phone because a bootloader error, in fastboot, it says charging but it really doesn't, so, i have always low battery (when it runs out, i can charge it a little with the wall charger and it automatically boots, so i cant charge past 5%). So, the question is, theres any way to charge it, so i can flash any working rom or ota or whatever? Thanks!
I never saw this problem before. There are 3 possibilities which I guess:
- bootloader issue: wipe all cache and flash bootloader
- Battery calibration: charge battery over 8 hours, to see if the battery is charged.
- Hardware problem
Cross fingers and good luck.
Oh boy, im in a horrible situation,, the problem is the bricked software makes the hardware look broken. I cannot charge because all the sofware is blowed up, and i can't flash because i have low battery., In the first droid razr, i was stucked in a similar situation, but, if you remove the kevlar back cover, you could directly connect phase and neutral to the battery and charge it in a harware way, the Moto G has a different system and is hidden, you need to remove all.

If fastboot is working you can still recover your device. Go into fastboot and start charging the device. Use a good quality wall charger and the original motorola micro usb cable and charge it for about 5 hours. Make sure you have enough amps going into the device. As soon as flashing works, flash a custom recovery such as twrp and boot into it. Then use the adb sideload feature to sideload cyanogenmod or stock rom.
I will try! I have two chargers, one similar to the motorola one (someone stealed mine in a party in my own house....) and one very powerfull from an asus tablet, i hope it works.

Always make sure you have above 75% charge before you start flashing. Glad to help!
Phone charges and turns off if I use it too much while it's charging (5 minutes). When unplugged from the charger it happens too.
Any solution? Having a similar issue
What are you doing on your phone during the moments before it turns off? Was it warm/hot to the touch before it turns off?
The only thing that comes to my mind is that it's overheating from what you're doing, and is automatically shutting itself off to prevent any potential damage that could be caused were it to not do so. Playing a game can easily increase the temps because GPUs on MediaTek phones aren't that great compared to phones with Snapdragon , Exynos or Kirin SoCs, so it needs to push itself harder to get better performance.
Sometimes watching videos from a web browser instead of an application can cause the phone to get hot as well. In fact, my Pure XL shut itself down once after I watched about ~40mins worth of video on Chrome instead of YouTube.
Nothing else comes to my mind on this. Just try to let your phone take breaks every once in a while as well.

My phone actually will usually not boot. It starts booting then usually shuts off as he blu bubble animation comes on. If it's plugged in it will go farther and sometimes completely boot but will shut off after a couple of minutes or if he phone is unplugged.
I've tried flashing the gionee rom several times and accidentally forgot to uncheck everything and have the gionee preloaded now.
OP, is this similar to your issue? Have you tried flashing or backing up?

Also I don't know if this has anything to do with anything but when running so flash tool, the only way it will attemp and recognize the phone is by holding down power and both volume buttons

This is exactly what my issue is too! Well it used to be, but now it doesn't turn on at all. Charge or no charge. I have flashed my device many times, did not fix at all. Right now I'm actually trying to flash it again for the sake of it, but I can't access the boot loader for some reason.

Thanks for the input and advice. I can't seem to find a battery for it anywhere.
