I have cromi-x 5.4 installed on my tablet. Asus tf700.
I formatted and wiped it, and now when it tries to connect to the wifi, it looks for wps keys. I don't want to use wps, but I cannot figure out how to tell the tablet not to use wps. The router uses wep security.

It only instigates wps if the user pushes the wps button.
Describe the process of how you are trying to connect to your router.

When I turn the table on, it automatically attempts to connect to wifi.
It can search and find available networks, finds mine, and attempts the connection. There is a double arrow symbol that appears, indicating the device is attempting wifi protected set up.
Then it says "obtaining IP address..."
then a message flashes quickly, indicating it has obtained the IP address.
It does indicate it is obtaining the IP address, then says 'connecting...'
Where is the wps button?

WPS is disabled on the router.
I imagine I can turn it on, and get the tablet connected. If I then turn WPS off, would the tablet connect in the future with WPS disabled?
Previously, the tablet asked for the WEP key, and connected that way.
I think I solved the problem by deleting the wifi network found by scanning and adding it in manually.
The tablet asked for the security key, I entered it and I guess I am good to go now.
The WPS symbol is still there, however, so it may attempt to connect via WPS when I attempt to connect to another wifi network.
WPS is now disabled on my network.
Thanks for the help.

I had issues today connecting the Inspire to my home Wi-fi.
Initially I had my Wi-fi setup to not broadcast the SID. When I add the network to the phone it is listed as "Not in Range".
As soon as I change the router to broadcast the SID, the phone connects as expected.
Anyone have any insights? Anyone able to confirm?

I also hide my SID on my router and my Inspire connects just fine.
Try rebooting your router? I had an issue the other week where my Captivate wouldn't get an IP address from my router, but I just rebooted the router and it worked fine after that. I figured it was just a glitch.
i just cant connect. says obtaining ip address

nah but ill try it
Make sure the IP its trying to connect to isn't in use by another device.
Wifi settings on my end, WPA2-PSK security type
Connected to the 802.11n router fine.

I'll give the router reboot a try. Seems odd that I can toggle SID visibility on/off and watch the phone disconnect and connect based on that.
My temp fix was to leave SID visible then lock down MAC filtering. Not very convenient when new devices need to connect though.
Will update with results in a bit.
Sounds more like a DHCP issue rather than a SID issue. Check your DHCP settings. That is where it gets the IP address from. You could also give it a static IP or create a reservation for it so it forces the IP. Good luck.

Setup DHCP Reservation for the phone. Still no luck. As soon as I switch the visibility of the SID, the phone disconnects and lists the network as "Not in Range".
Not doing anything special with security:
Mode: WPA-Personal
WPA Mode: Auto (WPA or WPA2)
Cipher Type: TKIP and AES
FYI - router reboot didn't resolve the issue either. (Model: D-link 655)
Any other thoughts?
My hp touchpad is not connecting to my home wifi network, I have tried very many places and my touchpad connects to wifi but at my own home wifi it simply does want to connect to wifi. I did a hard reset and nothing works any ideas?
What kind of router? How is your network set up? Open, WEP, WPA or Enterprise?

it is a wep, netgear router
Make sure your router has the latest firmware available, then power cycle it and try connecting with the TP again.
Might need to change it to WPA for it to work.
Coincidentally, mine wont connect to my netgear router for wireless N - sees it, but won't connect to it regardless of settings, connects instantly using G.....

I will try this also, thanks for the advice
Wifi will not connect to multiple routers. It was working, then stopped yesterday. On the wireless network screen, it shows my network SSID and when i click on connect, wifi shows "connecting" and will sit there for hours doing nothing.
Removed all security from router and it still will not connect.
Rooted and flashed multiple 3.1 and 3.2 roms, will not connect.
Reset router multiple times.
Unrooted and went back to stock and still have same problem.
Tried setting static IP and DHCP, but neither work.
Tried airplane mode on, wifi off, airplane off, wifi on and that didn't work.
What makes this problem ever more weird is when I go to see the wifi MAC address, it shows an address of F5:3F:FE:03:00:00 I'm no computer genius, but I'm pretty certain that isn't even a correct MAC address and I definitely know it's not one registered to ASUS.
Anybody have any thoughts or ideas?
Just to add some more information:
If I setup the TF as a hotspot, I'm able to connect to it from both my phone and laptop. But still not able to connect to anything from the TF itself.
No help as far as why you cannot connect, but that looks like an OK MAC to me.

That's odd, because if I try to add that MAC in my router filter list, the router comes back and says it's not a valid address. Oh well.
I know it's not a hardware issue because I can connect my laptop to TF when TF is setup as a hotspot, but not the other way around.
Hi guys,
Since the JB update I'm having massive problems with WPA2 wifi on both my TF101 and Desire. Wifi scans and finds the network, realises it is WPA2 encrypted and asks for the password, accepts the passwords and tries to connect however it is always unable and says something along the lines of 'saved, secured with wpa....'
Is there any solution because with a WIFI only tablet it limits what I can use it for lol
Thanks
Hi!
Every JB / CM10 ROM I have tested changes my TF MAC. The result, if you have MAC filtering enabled on your TF, is the same you are talking about: you detect your net, your password is ok, but your router won't give you an IP address as your MAC is not in the 'allowed list'.
Maybe you can check that to see if that's the problem.:good:
So, after browsing a bit about this I'm still unable to connect to my work wifi network. Every other network I'm able to connect just fine.
I put the wifi password, authenticates, goes to "obtaining ip address", goes back to authenticate.. and doesn't connect.
Forcing (using manual IP configuration) connects but doesn't open websites, even tho I'm using the connect gateway / dns servers. (even used 1st dns same as gateway).
Got a LG 4x next to me connecting just fine, problem is only on my nexus 5.
So far happens on 4.4.2 and 4.4.3.
Tried some tips that I saw around the web like disabing nfc or turning on and off airplane mode (although there isn't much logic in these), but still nothing.
Wifi password is correct.
Problem it seems is somewhere obtaining the ip from the router or something, as it goes back when it reaches this point, but then again forcing it allows me to connect but doesn't open websites.
Any tips? I'm suing WPA2 PSK at home and it's fine.
The network is in a 2ghz range channel 10.
Any help is appreciated.
PS - Router is a linksys WAP54G.
Thanks a lot!
