http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-to/add-knock-off-feature-your-htc-one-m8-without-rooting-0154454/

Rooted users can use "DoubleTapToSleep" Xposed mod.

Only downside to this app is if you try to tap in the area you have setup for something else within an app, it will cause it to lock instead of doing whatever you were trying to do in the app you were using. I switched to doubletap xposed which is for the status bar.

Mapping "Search" button to notifications

Hello!
I've got a problem with my Desire.
Few days ago, my digitizer got damaged. I've got about 5mm of inactive touchscreen on the top. This makes notification bar inoperable (i have to rotate phone to open it). I want to buy new phone anyway, but I will use Desire as long as it will work.
So here's my idea to map Search button to notifications. I'm not using this button anyway.
Is there any way to do this? My phone is rooted, running on custom rom based on Android 4.2.2
Help me please!
I think exposed addition has that option. Just get the installer and u can download the module from the app.
Another option is launchers with gestures, i used go and apex, they have such option, u can set slide down for notification or double tap.
Cheers....

Sounds interesting, gonna try this framework!
Also, I've got Apex onboard right now, but I'm afraid gestures will not work when I've got another application in foreground. Worth trying anyway.
Thanks for now!
Checked out both suggestions, and none worked well...
Apex - as I said before: Gestures aren't global - works only in main screen
Xposed Additions - there's such option in this module, but i can't see any notifications-related There's also paid version of Additions but I'm not into buying yet.
Any further ideas?

Yes, u are right, should have checked before suggesting xposed addition, they dont have such feature u wanted.
Since u have xposed, you can try Gravitybox. See if they have such funtion in their keyremap. They also have option to enable nav bar and pie.
Lmt, if i remember correctly, if i click on the clock on pie, the notification bar came down.
Sorry, currently on an old rom so cant test but only able to give blind suggestions.
Thank You again. I've installed GravityBox, and partly achieved my goal - I mapped notifications to menu button. There's no option to map anything to "Search" button, but I'll try to do it another way though.

Avoid power button problems with LockScreen

As we can unlock our Nexus 5X with our fingerprint in a comfortable way, I think LockScreen is also great to lock the device from a (material design adapted) widget. And you can also use transparent widgets!
You can download it from Google Play (it's free!).
I've developed this app so, please, any feedback is welcome!
Best regards!

Doesn't work correctly on the 5X, once you have locked using the widget, you are then unable to unlock again with the fingerprint reader, you have to then use the keypad, that defeats the object of having a fingerprint sensor.

I'm pretty sure it does not... same issue with this.
Unless you create a widget that activate a root task to lock the screen, it will ask for the keypad.

I use nova launcher's gesture control to also launch Greenify's Hibernate and Lock Screen. Which works as intended... Fingerprint scanner unlocks device. Maybe im missing something in what you are saying.

Just tested it already too, does not work for me.
And it seems to be a known issue since 2 others thread are talking about it already
Maybe there's something you guys have done differently that make this work but I've done this :
1/ setting double tap on home screen with nova launcher to launch Greenify's Hibernate and Lock screen
2/ once device locked and screen turned off, puting my finger on the fingerprint. It does wake the phone but asks for the pin code which does not when you lock the phone with the hardware power button
And it's the same behavior with other launchers and apps that can turn off the screen

The only thing i have done is root the phone no other system modifications have been made on my device i am still encrypted, no custom lock screen or any of that business.

All I've done is root my phone and given greenify root access.

I've removed encryption, maybe that's the thing that's triggering this behavior

Same here - been looking for this feature and still havent found it - not interesting in root either and losing all the functions that go away with that.
Any solutions yet? Not rooted.

Any app that locks the screen, fingerprints doesn't work afterwards. It's not just this app.
Same thing happens when using Screen Off app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.matthijsvh.screenoff
mine is rooted and i use greenify "lockscreen+hibernate" widget without a problem

All the applications i have found seem to do this. You have to make the application a device administrator for it to work but because the application is controlling the lock, the fingerprint doesnt work and it forces you to enter the pattern. I am coming from a moto and really miss the breathing notifications.

I use this at night but I don't really want the screen on all day, if this had a "breathing" function it would be nice. Hoping google releases an update to change the ambient display.
That's what I'm asking. There are a bunch of apps meant for this. Trying to see what people have success with
Bump....
Using Notific Pro without administrator permissions, only enabled notification access on the overview screen of the app. Works pretty well for me...

Cannot use fingerprint to unlock after using screen off app

Hi there,
I tried to use screen off apps on my SS S8, but when unlocking, it requested PIN numbers instead of using the fingerprint.
The fingerprint only works if we lock screen using the physical button or after timeout.
Do you happen to know any workaround for this?
I read a thread on S7, suggesting using Nova launcher with Screen Lock widget. But, is there any setting we can change to use other apps?
Many thanks,
Nghia
That's general security setting of Android. Happens to me on my OnePlus 3 when it's locked by Greenify. Simply ditch those lock screen apps.

hello,
it is a know issue, try Double Tap to Turn Off, will solve this problem, I am using it and I can use iris, fingerprint, face and of course PIN.

I use nova launcher plus lock screen to double tap gesture. Works fine.
How do u set it up in Nova?
Figured it out, nevermind. At first I thought it was built into Nova, but found the app and set it up. Thx
I was wondering if there are other apps can fix this as well.
Many thanks!

mine is working good, I have set to lock with icon and is perfect, more accurate than double tap.
try to check option menu and play a bit with, if is working for me there is no meaning why it is not working for you!

Played around with that app a little more, you actually need to enable that "show clear view" option, what it does is it would show the time on the screen for about one second before showing the AOD screen.

Use "softkey edge" which is a edge app works perfect. U can use iris or fingerprint after lock the phone using this edge app. Also it do not use device admin access..
You can download from galaxy apps and not avail in play store
OFF+ app work!
I have same issue with Samsung S8. Finally I found app called "OFF+". Just need to change screen off type to delay mode in app. Work perfectly. No issue with fingerprint! :good:

Do you have a link to this app?
This one works for me:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gr.ictpro.jsalatas.screenoff
I tried those other ones and did not have luck.. either the app did allow fingerprint but did not turn the screen off in a reliable way.. or they required pin / password to unlock..
but just found this one and it works so far!
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.redmanit.lockscreen
If this is still a question for anyone:
With nova launcher, you need to give it accessebility permission and choose in the nova settings to use a different lock screen method
The setting can be found in the nova settings by scrolling all the way down and choosing the last option in the advanced settings... Each option has an explanation for how it lockes the screen

bypass fingerprint lock?

So I was messing around with some settings today and using the double tap power button to launch camera from either ambient display or the lock screen. Well that's all fine and dandy and it works but I also let's anyone unlock your phone cause once in camera app you can hit the home button or back button and it'll allow access to the phone in its entirety. Kinda a fail set up. Hopefully fixed. Truly IDC caus no one uses my phone that I don't trust and I NEVER leave it anywhere that I feel wouldn't be safe. Let alone on table at Starbucks or a bar like I see sooo many people do.
All input is welcome on this subject
i couldn't get mine to unlock, but then again I am using Navigation Gestures not the Nav Bar
Nevermind I'm a retard, but as I stated I was messing around with settings today. I set the "on body" to keep device unlocked. Lol live and learn right?

Honestly I really really wanted to use the gestures, make things feel new and all coming from my old phone but truly I can't they are too show. I always use the double tap recent to almost instantly go back to last open app and switching apps is world's faster this way.

I've never heard such kind of gestures. Which phone/magisk module was that ? Google pixel ?
I also use gestures but once my thumb is on the top half of the phone it's a long way to reach the bottom of the screen [emoji2356]
So I couple it with pie controls

I use pie controls as well. All phones with Oreo and above have the option to double tap the recents button and it will instantly switch back to the last app open. Say I'm in Facebook and leave to Samsung browser. If I double tap quickly on the recent apps button. I can switch back and forth very quickly between the 2 apps.
