ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Know why you should "even" think of using the odexed version.
WHAT IS AN ODEX FILE?
In Android file system, applications come in packages with the extension .apk. These application packages, or APKs contain certain .odex files whose supposed function is to save space. These ‘odex’ files are actually collections of parts of an application that are optimized before booting. Doing so speeds up the boot process, as it preloads part of an application. On the other hand, it also makes hacking those applications difficult because a part of the coding has already been extracted to another location before execution.
THEN COMES DEODEX
Deodexing is basically repackaging of these APKs in a certain way, such that they are reassembled into classes.dex files. By doing that, all pieces of an application package are put together back in one place, thus eliminating the worry of a modified APK conflicting with some separate odexed parts.
In summary, Deodexed ROMs (or APKs) have all their application packages put back together in one place, allowing for easy modification such as theming. Since no pieces of code are coming from any external location, custom ROMs or APKs are always deodexed to ensure integrity.
HOW THIS WORKS
For the more geeky amongst us, Android OS uses a Java-based virtual machine for running applications, called the Dalvik Virtual Machine. A deodexed, or .dex file contains the cache used by this virtual machine (referred to as Dalvik-cache) for a program, and it is stored inside the APK. An .odex file, on the other hand, is an optimized version of this same .dex file that is stored next to the APK as opposed to inside it. Android applies this technique by default to all the system applications.
Now, when an Android-based system is booting, the davlik cache for the Davlik VM is built using these .odex files, allowing the OS to learn in advance what applications will be loaded, and thus speeds up the booting process.
By deodexing these APKs, a developer actually puts the .odex files back inside their respective APK packages. Since all code is now contained within the APK itself, it becomes possible to modify any application package without conflicting with the operating system’s execution environment.
ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES
The advantage of deodexing is in modification possibilities. This is most widely used in custom ROMs and themes. A developer building a custom ROM would almost always choose to deodex the ROM package first, since that would not only allow him to modify various APKs, but also leave room for post-install theming.
On the other hand, since the .odex files were supposed to quickly build the dalvik cache, removing them would mean longer initial boot times. However, this is true only for the first ever boot after deodexing, since the cache would still get built over time as applications are used. Longer boot times may only be seen again if the dalvik cache is wiped for some reason.
For a casual user, the main implication is in theming possibilities. Themes for android come in APKs too, and if you want to modify any of those, you should always choose a dedoexed custom ROM.

Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM, however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the free online kitchen at MoDaCo. In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.
Gr5 (default kitchen options, no MoDaCo additions) - DOWNLOAD
Radio 12.62.60.27U_26.13.04.19_M (extract from zip and flash via 'fastboot') - DOWNLOAD
Please note that the download links implement referring checking to avoid deep-linking. If you are redirected to the MoDaCo homepage when you download, try 'right click save as', disabling ad blocking / no script or if all else fails try an alternative browser.
Unedited RUU
If you would like to base a ROM on 3.06.405.1, I have put the stock RUU online for you. I do NOT recommend flashing this in it's entirety, it should be used only for development purposes! DOWNLOAD
Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
Future Updates - READ THIS!
By providing this ROM I am not implying in any way that future updates will follow. Due to limits on my time and the fact that I have a large number of devices for short periods of time, it isn't possible for me to continue providing ROM updates indefinitely. Please do not donate / sign up on the assumption that future releases will be available (I don't want you to be disappointed!).
I no longer have access to a Desire HD, so this ROM is no longer being updated.
The download and kitchens will continue to be available should anyone wish to use anything from the ROM - feel free to contact me via PM with any questions.
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

In the future, when updates are released, you can just flash without wiping hence keeping all your data. This is the case unless there are major deviations from the original base ROM. That said, if you don't mind losing data, I'd always recommend a wipe.
Regarding the ROM, I can't wait to try this tonight (3D Gallery, Lockscreen )....... Why do I have to work, why do I have to eat and why oh why do I have to sleep??
Will report back any issues etc.
Thankyou once again for all the hard work.

Oh thank you very much can't wait to test it.

1) In complete downloads
You need to post exact server link like the download page in Firefox or chrome will show either m1.androidfilehost.com , m2, m3 etc. Then I can talk to hosting guys to correct that problem. It is better to mention time of download and if you can then IP.
2) Wifi / Usb tether is not working
Till the time I found a fix please use Barnacle from Play Store or Wifi Tether application.
3) Multilingual Package
As soon as MIUI Android releases multilingual package then I'll update in OP. Just download package and apply on existing ROM. While applying just wipe cache & dalvik cache. Multilingual package version and your ROM version must be same.

First off--thanks for tackling this!
I'm curious if there is something unique about wiping using that zip file. I usually do it manually from recovery, but is there something different here? I'm looking forward to testing it later today.
By the way, since this is based off of a miuiandroid.com (Brit) build, is this actually going to be more like that or miui.us? What are the differences between them?

This is automated script which will clear and I can trust it. As long as you can able to wipe whole data, system, dalvikcache, cache and .android folder on sdcard then this is fine .
I think miuiandroid.com is basically from miui.com. I don't know about miui.us. Post feedback then I can take right source

I can definitely do that. I just did a search and found that there is a substantial difference between "wipe" data/system/cache and "format" data/system/cache, and it seems that "format" is the best choice for the cleanest start. Just thought I'd share that, as I will be trying that next time around.
I'm guessing that I will wipe my second partition on my SD card, which is my link2sd partition. I believe Titinium + Nandroid backups will include all that and I will be ok.
Yayyyy

3Minit Rom Updater v1.0 Beta
Now with thanks to the Guys from AROMA Installer I have been able to put this updater pakage together.
So imagin you just found out you ROM developer has just released the latest version of you favorite rom but your misis is just getting ready because you told her you would take her out. And the download alone will take an hour or 2:crying:
Well now you can. This package works like OTA updates in that it only update files that are needed. So now the update has gone from 700+ MB to 80+ MB. Well problem solved now you can download and be updating before she has finished doing her hair
Devs: You can use this to quickly update you rom to a completely new version say 4.1 > 4.2. Just configure copy updated files into package. End user can even choose any new mods and they can use to change the rom setup. Like a change of modem or kernel. With this pakage they can even choose then Model number eg: I9300 or I9300T could be anything.
Uses and Advantages:
Its quick
Uses less bandwidth
Quickly fix reported bugs
Fully Customizable
Can be used to change rom setup
Must have for flashaholics
Change Kernel, Modem and Mods in a few clicks
Update system files
Much less free space needed on device
Give user correct model number eg: I9300, I9300T
Can be used by developers for all roms
Many Many more
I have already put this package together and if you cleaver enough to have 3Minit Roms 4.1 flashed on you device you can go right ahead now and update to v4.2
So guys if you think this is a good idea hit the Thanks button.
Again id like to stress the guys at Aroma Installer made the installer I just come up with the idea of using it in this way and put this pakage together. So hit thanks spread the word and maybe your Rom developer will start saving you time and bandwidth.
Download

Here is the pakage for you to see what i have done. If you want to try it head over here and start using my rom.
This Package should only be flashed on 3Minit Roms v4.1
Please give me credit if you use this Idea/Package
Disclaimer: Download at your own risk. I am not responsible for any damage/data loss etc from flashing this Rom/Mod. No one made you do it.
Ok just a quick how to for devs. If you already know how to use Aroma Installer this will be straight forward.
1. Extract package
2. Place update files under system (as you would with rom)
3. Place user selectable mods, kernels, apps etc in install **
4. Configure aroma installer to show updates. The existing system files will remain intact and it will only replace the ones in the system folder and or the files selected by user.
Excellent work Dev, will help flashaholics a lot.
Can I use this on ROMs from other devs?

Welcome To Slim ROMS
The Slim Just Got SLIMMER
INTRO
SLIM SERIES ROM's for Young are inspired by the famous SLIM-ROM's by tchaari for all the High-end phones like, Nexus, S3 etc.
So I decided to emulate the ROM's for our Young too.
Some big plus points or Observations according to me, from these highly-compressed and lite ROM's are =
Plus Points
1. Our phone has very less RAM to run GB in fully optimised manner. So these ROM's slightly fulfil that requirement. As the apps in these ROM's occupy very less RAM of around, 20 to 30 MB only !
2. Due to less RAM consumption, phone tends to be more responsive, smooth and faster !
3. Overall performance increases roughly around, 5 times !
4. If you are a benchmark believer, then AnTuTu scores were also slightly higher compared to the original ROM's
5. These lite ROM's along with any script like Adrenaline Engine, can boost your performance slightly higher.
6. These ROM's can be used as a daily driver, thanks to The Jellaxy Team !
7. Slim ROM's have slightly higher battery backup compared to the original ROM's. For me atleast, i.e; with minimal usage the phone lasts around =
Slim CM7 = 1day 13hours
DOWNLOADS
Post#2
NOTE - I use my young only for phone calls and listening to music [A lot ! ]
8. So use these ROM's and decide what is best for you.
Thanks for supporting me.
9. There's nothing great about these ROM's. BUT, their SIZE speaks for them !
Slim CM7 = 52 Mb
10. Going into details, I simply removed useless apps, fonts, ringtones that bloat our device. Anyway you can simply download their duplicates from Play Store. This will save a lot of space in the system, ultimately improving the performance upto some extent
11. I also wish to notify that, in future along with removal of bloatware, there might be significant changes in kernel specifically compiled for these minimal ROM's. I am still learning about Android so no promises, as this is all a pure-hobby, like everyone else's.
12. All the rightful credits are in the second post.
13. All the downloads and download instructions are in the third post.
14. I have removed bloatware in to the maximum extent possible, but still if you feel there exists such an app which is useless, inform me, I will remove it
15. Finally, I ensure there was no warez used to create these ROM's
16. On a side note I removed all the boot-animations to conserve space. the screen will be blank, so don't worry you did not brick your phone
================================================== ===========================================
CHANGE-LOG
1. Added SimpleSU root permissions, thanx to noop.
2. Reduced the file system to even lesser sizes.
3. File-manager/gallery pre-included in system
4. Extreme Bare-bones
5. Stable-Rock-Solid
6. Now using ICS themed Zeam Launcher in CM7
7. Apex launcher
8. wp keyboard Removed Due To FC
P.S = I am open to suggestions.

discontinued or not, I'll still give it a try! :good:
There's a changelog already :/
Maybe op copy pasted entire post.
Op,
you need to make up mind before posting / making threads.
You're also building miniCM from source, right?
Then why port roms?
And if you want to discontinue, ask moderators to lock thread.

hi sir can you give the name of radio app that working on cm7 so we can easily find it.thanks

developer please provide screenshots of ROM ?
If it requires flashing a specific kernel why this is not specified in the instructions? I wouldn't go over estimating users like this. It might be the first rom they're installing. Also, since percy's kernel uses CWM for recovery, people will think they did something wrong when they don't find the "Wipe Dalvik Cache" in the normal recovery menu.
no need to screenshots. coz this is slimmed version of original cm7 n there isnt any ui change.

Pre-Requsites
Windows PC with .NET Framework 4.5
Java 7, with Path Variable Set up
Click to collapse
Usage
Make sure Java is installed and Java Path Variable is set in your PC
Due to the nature of Java tools, run the app from a path where there is no spaces, like D:\JBD
Unzip the Odexed rom zip, to say D:\MyRom (for example)
So within the folder D:\MyRom there will be subfolder "system" and within system folder, app, priv-app and framework folders must be present, you should select "system"
Now run the app, after Java check, it will prompt you to select a folder where Odex files are found, you should select D:\MyRom
If your rom is Odexed and your selection was correct (refer the folder structure image above step), the app will show you how many files will be DeOdexed, now follow the on screen instructions.
Sit back and relax and wait till the app finishes DeOdexing your rom.

Merry Christmas to you too dude! :good:
Any chance of more detailed guide for not so clever ppl like me. I unziped my rom to a folder named deodex on my C drive, then set the config to C:\deodex\system. But when i run the deodex tool its says no apps found. Where have i gone wrong.
Thanks
@joeldroid, Awesome work!! Everything is really simple so far, but I'm running into a "baksmali failed" message when I have everything placed from what I understand. Think you could help me out a little? Backsmali Failed Image
Hey @joeldroid, you saved me the job of having to deodex everything manually, mate. Will see if this really works. Thanks in advance, and merry Christmas for you too!
Waiting for framework deodexing support!

Hey raynan,
I was getting this as well, in some Samsung apps like Samsung IME, Samsung DriveMode etc, this I believe is something to do with the structure of the app and Samsung is using an incompatible structure, where baksmali fails to decompile. But I will try looking into this further.
