We all know that Google has blocked external sd card access on Kitkat for third-party apps. And there are some "solutions" trying to bring the old days back, but all those solutions requires root access to your device, which is useless for entry and mid-level users.
Today I found an app called 'File Expert', which could access external SD card on on my S4 with official Android 4.4.2 Kitkat ROM without any problems, just like what other file managers did in the past. The most important is, it doesn't need you to root your device first, it means safe.
Try it here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xcxin.filexpert
For tablet users, please consider HD version here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xcxin.fehd
Here is their official artical to describe how to access external sd card on Kitkat using File Expert without root:

Superb.
Now I can transfer files from internal to external memory.
Thanks.

You can also use stock File Manager which is good app. We need solution for all apps not just for one.

Hi, ALEX,
Ekhm... I have deep feeling that I MUST help you immediately, otherwise you may suffer serious mental problems as a result of schizophrenia.
So, what caused my concern, you may ask.
Let me remember you... according to the post where you wrote:

thanks for using File Expert. If you have anything regarding to File Expert please simply drop us an email and we will try to do our best to serve you.

you have sent in 2011, you are the developer of this app.
I am very happy that you have found it today, however my concern is why, for goodness' sake, are you callling the article written by you as "their"
Why I am suggesting that you suffer from the mentioned above brain illness? Because I have the trust in people, so I cannot assume that you started the thread to have just a COMMERCIAL ADVERTISEMENT of YOUR app, which to work in full, needs purchase of worth some 5 bucks key... and, which so far is not very popular at GooglePlay
By the way, personally I think that you have pretty unique way of thinking, if you count that no one would realize the "coincidence" between your nickname @xcxin and the apk names: apps/details?id=xcxin.filexpert / /apps/details?id=xcxin.fehd. It may be compared only if some time ago, Steve Jobs (RIP) would send a tweet that he found perfect phone in the shop: iPhone

Full access External SD card on Kitkat WITHOUT ROOT
Hallo everybody
i find a new way to have a full access to ext sd card
so simple so easy
1-- firest you have to make full format on tablet . phone with rom jelly bean .
2-transfer all your files from your computer to tablet , phone with jelly bean .video ,music .foto and let open at list ones to be sure that all files are working as well.
3-now your sd card is ready take it out and put it in tablet. phone with rom kit kat 4.4 it will working so well -and if you need to add more video transfer it to the old folders on your sd card , don,t open new folder it well not work -just the old folder :good:
i find that kit kat rom it still working with the Permission of jelly bean rom .. and it will not be denied
the best to use a new sd card -- the old cards it need to have a low format level
I am used it in many sd cards and it working as well --.
please don,t format the sd card on kit kat .
so i find the problem in the programs how installed bei the rom on the sd card .
I wish to convert a copy of these programs how installed on the sd card by the jelly bean rom .
to used it direct on any sd card with kit kat rom
my be anybody can helpe to find way to do that

Hello Guys, I am new to this FORUM and I sure like the posts and answers.
Well over the years I have been using one nokia phone or the other and this time I own a C6 and I am tired of the SYMBIAN Series, No Flexibility of customizing the home screens and the sluggish menus etc, etc. Can some help or find me a way to boot Android on my phone. I know there is a way to boot Android in Windows Mobile using Emulator BUT how about Symbian?
Buy Android phone, that is a really simple solution to your question.
btw can you share how to emulate android on windows mobile as you have quoted in your note.
I know there is news about Nokia N900 (Maemo) being run on Andriod. You may google to find this and may look for some help there.

@rachit: for your emulation Q.
I am not sure how to do it as I don't have a windows mobile phone but I am sure I have seen some posts.
here are some links.. hope u can find your way through. there is a program named haret which helps you to boot to Android. Just install Android in SD Card and then run Haret is what they say. But most of them have done it only on HTC Phones.. Good Luck!

Most of them have only done it on HTC phones because only two HTC phones - HD2 and Vogue have been the most stable and successful running android either on the SD card or NAND. A few other phones in the "Legacy" device family are able to run it but only on the SD and not NAND memory as stable as the two listed.

Hi Guys/Experts,
I have installed a custom Rom from the link given by one of our good experts.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241178
I have noted few problems in it... I would like to highlight them and need some expert comments with resolution.
1) Move to SD card option not working- Whenever I try to use this option Phone Reboots automatically and task is not performed. I even tried to do the same with Titanium Back up still same issues. (Need an immediate resolution to this considering the amount of internal storage available the phone)
2) Apex launcher doesn't work (one solution is already there in above post. As a alternate solution i would say to go to System/Apps and re-install the Apex Launcher.apk)
3) Some Camera Problem was mentioned in the above post- I haven't faced it as I barely use Camera- Still I would say if we can be provided with some update zip file to fix this.)
4) Considering the low amount if Ram is available I would like to request the experts to enable the kernel support for SWAP so that people can enjoy some good virtual ram to play games.
5) Now Stock ROM is available, I would request all our good experts if they can tweak the same (removing all the bloatware) and useless apps which consume RAM. So that we can get maximum Storage Plus RAM to use. Technically a rooted ROM with no or very few apps- So that people may want to install what ever way they want.
6) Inbuilt next launcher is something I would appreciate. If we can get inbuilt swift keyboard as well would be much more appreciable.
7) Only one expert is attached to Development of Xolo A700. I would request other experts to please contribute. As this is one of the best budget phone available. More Expert Minds make this product globally Renowned.
8) Jelly bean update is not yet arrived for this model. I heard company have launched Xolo A1000 jelly bean. Cannot ensure they will bring update for xolo A700.
9) While playing game like contract killer2. Apps automatically shut down after some time. Please help to resolve this.
Expert, Please provide your comments to make this thread live and Users, Please share your problems while using stock roms.
Thank You
Rahul

TRIP38 - do u have it in ur phone??
Hello...i m sharing this lovely app with everyone ,as i m observing a month to help travellers...i m helping a friend ,who develops an app called TRIP38 ...asking everyone to download and suggest improvements and reviews...
I designed the currently one and only file locker app that works with SD cards for Android 4.4+
(since old filelocker apps do not work after the introduction of Kitkat due to change in security policy by google)
Currently to solve this problem, one had to root his/her phone.
This app works for unrooted phones running kitkat.
http://sd-card-file-locker.blogspot.com/
Kindly try out my app.
Give me your valuble feedback (Since it is still beta) by posting in this thread or leaving a comment on the blog itself.
Thank you
Hi Community,
before explaining my Problem, here are the specs of my phone:
Samsung Galaxy J7 2017 (SM-J730F)
Stock ROM with Android 7.0
Rooted via CF-AutoRoot and SuperSU installed
ES File Explorer 4.1.8.7.1
So I've got a question about my phone's storage usage.
Ca. every two days my phone notifies me it's running out of space and I need to delete some stuff in order to free storage. But when I do a reboot, everything looks fine. ES File Explorer can't seem to find a reason for this. I attached two screenshots of what the storage manager looks like after a reboot and apparently there is some unused space. But after about two days it again says I used 10.88 GB out of my 10.88 GB internal storage.
Does anyone know how to find the reason for this problem and can maybe even provide a solution on how to fix this issue ?
Greetings,
Alex

Yeah, could be but honestly I don't think that's a device related problem but one that has to do with the OS or maybe an app that's installed or whatever. And because I don't know the origin of my problem I posted it in the General Discussion forum.
