Follow the instructions on getting the bootloader unlocked and getting rooted by flashing CWM.. after all those steps. re open the program and choose Flash BONE STOCK. You will be right back in Android 4.3 update 68 i think from Nvidia. which is right back to when you purchase it from Gamestop. Get it quick before the developer update it to The latest update which is the one your on, 4.4.2.
As long as you follow the instructions and get the Universal Ghost Driver installed properly. It works. I've tried this out already, I em back on Android 4.3..

unfortunately you will lose everything if you go through with this method unless most of your personal stuff is on the MicroSD Card, as it reflashes your original clean untouched recovery... Maybe in the near future there might be another simpler method.

It boots up to CWM and it seems to be working normal as far as doing a nandroid backup to MicroSD.. I haven't encountered any issues yet when i had KitKat.. I had the CWM running normal as far as I can tell. Well i'm still sort of a newbie, here you guys are the experts..... thanks for the great dev for another great device

Even though CWM is dead. in order to root using the Shield 1.0 method, CWM is still needed to flash SuperSU.zip.. unless you another method to root, the CWM isn't nessessary to flash. as long as you boot loader is unlocked of course and your rooted. you can use the Bone Stock method, and it will restore the shield back to 4.3.... this is the only way i know of as of now... I'm sure in the near future there might be another simpler method...........

I dont need to use the script SHIELD 1.0, i used minimal adb fastboot to root it using a image root on github,CWM its not required to flash SuperSU.zip
Once you're on kitkat I dont think you can go back to jellybean. I could be totally wrong but I tried going back to 4.3 and it bricked my shield, wouldn't boot. I didn't spend much time on seeing why it happened, so like I said I Could be totally wrong. I could of had bad files for all I know.

I didn't say u had to use that SHield 1.0 method to root, I said only if your using that method. I know there are other methods to root. The point I was making is that once your rooted and bootloader unlocked. you can still use shield 1.0 to reflash the update 68 i beleive which is android 4.3.. out of the box state from gamestop.... It worked for me having the same latest kitkat OTA that you have......

Ok thats good to know i used fastboot to flash the update 68 files.
you are soo wrong, you arent briked
just set up the ghost drivers on your computer, get fastboot working, download kwonggers toolkit, follow the instructions on screen of your computer to set your shield back to 4.2.2 because the toolkit hasn't been updated and everthing shield is almost as dead as the ouya or worse, so I might just sell the shield from the lack of audience and support and get a bloody snapdragon 801 phone, if NVidia wants to keep this relevant, they need to work with the developer community more, unless shield will die, I have made my choice, now what's yours?

I just got the Shield mainly for emulators, so will stick with 4.22 since that is what the device had out of box. Works great and no need to root or any other hassle for the intended use.

OK all...so I am new here and was trying to get JB to work on my tablet. I thought I had done the needed research but went wrong somewhere I guess. I tried to follow steps on a site I found from AndroidAuthority dot com (not sure if I am able to post the entire link or no?). I was trying to root and install ClockworkMod Recovery but I guess either something went wrong or I messed something up. From what I have been reading I guess I have not bricked my device since it still tries to load. It currently loops with the Samsung screen. I can still enter the download mode and recovery mode but not sure what I should try next. I tried via Odin again with no luck. Out of the box I was running 4.0.3 but did the OTA update to 4.0.4. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks from a newbie!
Also I used espresso_recovery.tar.md5 as the recovery image if that helps at all. Thanks again.
Followed the steps from another site. Will follow these later today:

I guess since I can still use Odin I should be all set. Sorry if this was in the wrong section.

You can use heimdale too. Ive had better luck using that for my phone, never tried my tabley but it should work.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
I haven't tried heimdale yet cause I do not want to add more gas to the flames. But I tried the other link I posted and still no luck. Also tried a different SD card to be on the safe side but no luck. Any ideas on what I should do next? Or any other info I can provide that might help?
Keep on trying... it should work sooner or later. Have the samsung drivers? If not install kies. Try other usb ports too.
Sent either from my p113 (gtab 2 7.0) or i997 (Infuse)

Should I keep on with the same procedure or you mean keep letting it boot in a cycle?
I used this with 4.0.4.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1657056
i would suggest you follow from the beginning.
install samsung drivers and kies and odin. run odin as adminstrator.
pay close attention to the mention of the post #325 in the instruction as it what helps you 4.0.4 root process. its difference from 4.0.3.
also if you are on jb. you need to run cwm 6.0 not 5.0 make sure youre uploading the right file into odin.

btw youre not bricked don't stress, youll sort it out soon enough

Don't use ClockWorkmod, it's not designed specifically for Gtab2... CWM is bad.
you can try flash your gtab2 with ODIN instead
CWM is OFFICIALLY supported now and works good.

So I'm new here, I tried rooting my p3100, flashed cwm with Odin, as it rebooted from there it just keeps rebooting - need help please guys......any lil bit of advice would help - I've read on other posts to flash to the stock ROM, but how do i do this? where do i get the rom......
OK so I am back at it and still not having much luck. I can't get as far as the:
"CWM-based Recovery v6.0.1.0"
Screen.
From here I do not have a recovery file to use. Which should I use for the P3113....At this point I don't even care if I lose all the data on the tablet and go back to stock. Just need it working again and then do some more research on how to do it right..
Thanks again.
Then use Section E of my guide. It will wipe your data and restore your tablet to stock.
So i'm looking for a little help.
A little while back I used this thread : [GUIDE] TF300T Unlock/Root/Flash for Factory JB Devices (newbie friendly)
To help me install this custom rom : [ROM][TF300]|Mar 28| Energy™ -.¸¸.·´¯ Official JB 4.2.1 Stock or Themed ¯´·.¸¸. -
onto my girlfriends TF300T tablet
and I have this : [RECOVERY][TF300T/TG] TWRP 2.5.0.0 Touch Recovery! [2013-4-9] on there as well
but I can't remember if this was part of the unlock/root/flash process or not, so i'm not sure if it used it during the process or if I added it shortly afterword
now its been while since I have done it but then the tablet started to restart randomly while she was using it.
so I figured no biggie maybe an app got messed up or something, and so I told her to back up her pics, exc she wanted off the unit
and I could look at reinstalling the apps or just taking the unit back to factory rom
about a week later it started to reboot more often randomly
and now it is to the point where it will not make it into the rom
now I can make it into the boot selection where I can choose RCK (for the TWRP), USB, or the other 2 options
and I know I can make it into the TWRP tool as well and it does not repeatedly boot from there, so i'm sure its a rom issue and not a hardware issue, but I could still be wrong
the unit is currently charging so I have not had a chance to try for the usb connection option or anything else yet
hopefully the usb option will work so I can try to recover the pics, exc before taking the unit back to factory
now in the process I know I have unlocked the unit, I believe I have done the min root but have not fully rooted the unit if that makes sense
so i'm just wondering if I will half to fully root (and how do I do that if I do since I can't make it into a rom)
how do I clear the rom that has gone bad
how do I install a factory rom (how do I tell which is the lastest rom, and which one is needed for my unit)
and then I should be good from there
if you need any more info please let me know and maybe some instructions on how to get to that info
in the process of putting the energy rom onto it, I spent a week of reading, researching, and figuring out which way would probably be the safest for me to do, plus the easiest for me to understand
now that it has been so long I have been reading and researching again, I just need that nudge that gets me in the right direction
i'm sure i'm not the only one that has had this issue with a rom, and i'm also sure there is a guide out there already that goes over how to put it back to a factory rom
just for some reason i'm either over looking it or not finding it

Lol okay. Theres actually a more simple way.
1. Download the latest asus firmware.
2. Extract the zip file
3. Flash it like a normal rom.
If you cant use this method then you'll have to use fastboot. Here's a link but if you need any help, just ask : http://www.androidauthority.com/transformer-pad-tf300t-restore-stock-firmware-108016/
how do I check the sku according to that guide if i'm not able to load into the android os
that only shows if you can load into the os
would the box have that?
or now looking at the options that I should assume its is a US sku lol

Its simple lol. When you download the firmware from asus, its usually in a .zip form. In it, there is another zip file. Copy that zip file onto your tablet and flash it with twrp.

Yes. You have to do a factory reset first.
and how do I do that lol, and what happens when I don't do that first
is this tablet now dead since the step of doing the reset was not complete? cause now I can not access twrp and it just sits there with the asus logo and the swirling dots
when I try to access the usb option all I have is rck, android and wipe, rck just gives a failure shortly after trying

If you want to use twrp, download the us stock firm ware. when you open it, you'll see a file that looks like this: "US_epad-user-10.6.1.15.3". copy that file onto your tablet and flash it like a normal rom. haha
For fastboot, if you have the android sdk, then you already have fastboot so you dont have to download fastboot again.

I was wondering if rooting is possible on T-mobile's LG G2 yet on the 4.4.2 KitKat update. I had root privileges before and then when I updated I lost them. I'm not interested in going back to 4.2.2. Then I came across ioroot25, claiming to have added support for 4.4.2 devices. The process was only like 2 steps, the first being to root into recovery. Whenever I try to do that I see the little android dude on my screen for a fraction of a second saying something like installing system update (main point being, the root batch file from ioroot25 isn't getting the device to go into recovery, meaning I CAN'T accept the adb update, which was step two)
ANY SOLUTION?

For all other G2 models, the ioroot method (version 25) works. One prerequisite for that method is access to recovery. We (d801 owners) do not have access to recovery. Attempts to access recovery are being documented in the thread titled "[Please Read] We need help to try and find out how to get into stock 4.4 recovery!" Keep your eye on that thread. If we can get access to recovery, we can use ioroot.
What should we do? For myself at this moment, I do not need root or custom roms. I have read many people recommending staying on stock for OTAs updates right now. The only reason I want TWPR is for the nandroid backups of the stock rom. Is it even possible to update stock, the OTA updates and reapply the unlock bootloader and TWPR afterwards? I know TWPR is still being working on at this moment. Also, is there even a stock rom [for FRD-AL04???] without root available through TWPR right now?
I believe I have FRD-AL04 which is the US/32 gig phone, right? Is this the correct model? Here is the link to amazon page.
Mine is the US 32gb black Honor 8 and model number is FRD-L04
Edit: Check your model number in the Settings > About Phone screen.

On whether to stay stock or not... it's up to you. I unlocked my phone, which wipes it, then installed TWRP and SuperSU for root. Kept the ROM stock. But then I realized I forgot to do OTA updates first. Doing a quick update failed because TWRP didn't know what to do. I then selected a "Full Update" in the menu of the Updater. This actually completely wiped out my unlocked bootloader, recovery and root in one swoop. So now I am back to stock it seems so I'll have to unlock and start over if I want to redo it. But I'm not sure I am going to. I started using Helium made by the team that made ClockworkMod. It isnt able to back up ALL app data, but it does get a nice chunk of it which I think will be good enough for me for now.
Stay on stock until company stops pushing out OTA updates. I do this on all my phones.

Few questions if you don't mind.
1. Are you saying that even with unlocked bootloader and custom recovery you're still able to accept the OTA?
2. How would you restore the apps&data after accepting the OTA and going throu the unlocking/rooting process over again? Does Helium handle this w/o problems?
Thanks.
well, your question is complicated... but it has many type of sollutions
1.if its the nandroid backup is the only thing you want, then try backing up via honorsuit app,,
2.you can unlock the bootloader( dont worry you still be getting updates after this)
install twrp
make a backup
and find if someone did a backup with stock recovery
grab it
restore..
now you have your backup and youl be elligable for ota
3. if theres no one done a backup of stock recovery, dont worry... you can do it
unlock bootloader
now type fastboot devices
fastboot boot recovery twrp.img
this will temperorily boot twrp and you can have your backup
and BTW, you better be on stock, because, there is no stable custom rom yet and you are nearly getting a nougat update..:good:

1. Yes, but only if you select the FULL download update in the menu of the updater (which says it's around 1.6GB). This will wipe out your unlock, TWRP and root though. At least it did for me.
2. I don't know, I didn't re-unlock it because it was going to wipe my phone again. I decided to stay stock for now using Helium backup to backup my apps, SMS, etc.

I can't even get Helium to get past asking me for PTP mode on my H8. Even though I select PTP in the notifications and/or in the dev settings.

I also had this problem at first. I ended up having to switch from using their chrome add-on to installing the client for my OS (OS X in my case). So if you're using the chrome add-on try installing one of the clients instead.

Ok thanks, but I am already using the OSX app myself. Managed to get it to work just now, had to reboot and now can't get it to work again. Some say to select 'midi' instead of ptp to get it to work, but that doesn't work for me either. Seems its a timing thing and I have't worked it out yet.
Not having a cross platform backup mechanism certainly doesn't help people stay stock without root imho.
Hey guys,
I just got the new controller and went through the disappointment of finding out that I have to wait for another few valve time weeks to be able to use it to it's full potential.
Now I count myself as a total technical mongoloid and it took me quite a bit of effort to root my tablet when i got it in marshmallow.
My question now is such: Does anyone know what the process of updating a rooted marshmallow to nougat is going to look like? I don't expect it to be me just tapping the update prompt...
TL;DR: What's the rooted update to Nougat gonna look like?

You should unroot the device before doing the update.
Just flash stock system file from your PC.

Could you kindly throw me a link to a simple to understand tutorial on how to unroot the tablet? Also will i have to factory reset it or can I keep my files?

Do this with the last firmware (if you are on the last) available on NVIDIA website but just flash System partition and recovery.
On my tablet it shows that Nugat not that MM is final and no further .... mam OTA 4.4 .. so it will only be for a version?

Quick boot doesn't seem to be available anymore... is there something else we should use?
Also, I downloaded the update before I saw that it doesn't really improve much. I don't want it now, but it's downloaded and says it will install on a restart. Is there any way to prevent this? Can I delete the update somehow?
Thanks

The update has made my K1 significantly snappier, smoother and faster. Especially opening apps, going back to home screen, app drawer, etc. Not a huge change, but it's significant.
Plus, security patches are important. I'd disagree that N "doesn't improve much".
I havent noticed too much of a change updating to nougat but the multi-window is kinda cool. Root was easy to get after updating. You just flash twrp with fastboot flash recovery, boot into recovery and flash supersu zip worked for me no problem. The main complaint i have with the nougat update is i dont seem to be able to use kali nethunter anymore, which sucks. If anyone knows how i can get it working that'd be awesome. Im thinking of restoring my mm backup i made right before i updated just to get nethunter back.
