[Q] S-Off'ed and Rooted, unable to install OTA udpate. - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I got a message about the OTA update, it went to install it and booted me into CWM. I tried to flash it from there, but I got an error about a partition in the file.
Not running any custom ROMs, just S-OFF and flashed root. Ideas?

Good luck flashing a stock OTA with a custom recovery. Also, do you want to lose S-OFF? Because that's how you lose S-OFF.
EDIT: You will not lose S-OFF. All else is correct. Anyone notice the Archer reference? I should have put a meme.

I would not take an OTA update. Only bad things can happen. Wait until the dev's pull it apart.

I renamed the file to OTAPkg.zip.bak in the /cache folder. Technically it should not try to install now right?

Correct. You should be fine.

I'm not rooted nor have I done s-Off yet but the update is persistent in downloading. Had to turn off my phone. How else can I stop it from updating?

DO not give out wrong info. You are correct about flashing a OTA with a custom recovery, it just wont work. BUT you are wrong about losing S-Off. OTA cannot remove S-OFF, only RUU can.

I took the ota and I'm still S-OFF and rooted via weaksauce. I never flashed root cause I don't want a custom recovery, but yeah that's where I stand right now after the OTA. Hopefully this will answer questions about S-OFF and root.
Edit: I did how ever lose my powersaver for which I'm trying to get back. Tried once and failed but I'm gonna try again.

EVO Shift Root gone wrong - I really need help please.

I tried the one click root method (Shift Root and Recovery) and got the clockwork recovery installed. I put the cyanogen 7 on the sd card and it seemed to take alright, but now all I get is the HTC splash screen when I reboot. I can get back to recovery and mount the SD card, but nothing else. My SD card did not have the update.zip file. I thought that is what the cyanogen file was for, but now I think I screwed up.
Can anyone help? Have I permenantly killed my phone?
I can go into recovery. I did not do a nano backup. I backed up my wimax. Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
I followed the Shift root and recovery steps. It said back up your data... It was supposed to be a one-click root.

Well as a precaution you should always back up your data, just for that "what if" moment that happens every now and again.
Try posting in the shift forum ?

yea what arnezie said! ^^^
it might be better to follow the Evo Shift forums and ask in there...considering they use the Shift there
heres a link to the rooting thread for the Shift...i suggest either making a new thread in the General area there or post in this thread:

Maybe he moved it here because we are more experienced lol? Either way to op, if you can boot into recovery, put a rom on an extra sdcard and flash off that. Problem solved.
That's what I would like to do, but apparently the rom I am using is not working. Where can I find a different one that will work? When I do the "install zip from sd card in clockwork i don't get any error, but when I reboot it's back to the htc screen... Does it matter that I didn't have an update.zip file? I selected the zip file (cyanogen 7) from the sd card... Is that the same thing?
If you could just direct me to the right place that would be great. I cannot move the thread because I am too new. It would have to be moved by someone with that ability. Thanks to anyone that will lend a hand.
Alright put the cm7 file on ur sdcard then go to recovery and wipe data/factory reset then clear cache and go to advance and clear dalvik cache then go to install zip from SD card option and pick cm7
Sent from my PG06100 using Tapatalk
I tried that and end up in the same place. It flashes the rom awfully quick. Like within 30 seconds. Its like an 80MB file. It doesn't give an error, but I suspect it isn't taking...
That seems right like the right time it takes to flash ....so it didn't work?

Try flashing one that's closer to the original rom. Here are a few.

I have t-mobile one s running vipers 2.0.0 rom. Im on hboot 1.14 so my wifi doesnt work. I already brick one phone trying to fix it by downgrade, so I dont think I will try to downgrade on this one.
Is there a safe way to fix this? Or I have to wait for USA OTA with jellybean?

OTA & ROM. Help Please...?

Some background info:
Nexus 5
Unlocked Bootloader
TWRP
Running Purity Rom
I have been running this Rom for about 2 months with no major issues. Now I am being prompted to do an OTA to 4.4.3. If I was stock that would be normal and expected but I am not sure what to do in my situation. I can not stop the prompt, I clear it from my notification window and it just appears back in 10 seconds or so.
I have tried to figure it out but cant find anything on the Purity thread, and I cant post my question there because I don't have 10 posts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if this answer is in a million places and I didn't see it.

I am in a pretty similar situation. At this point I'm happy with the stability and performance of the build I'm on. Upgrading to 4.3.3 isn't a huge concern at this moment. I just don't have the time to reconfigure all applications and settings if I have to do a wipe.
Figured out I out if you disable viewing notifications from the Google play services app the notification will go away.

Reading Puritys thread, you can dirty flash it, but do it at your own risk. I read quite a bit of success doing it.
I run Purity 4.4.3 and it's really nice.
But like I said, either disable it if you don't care for the update, or try a dirty flash.
Or back everything up, and wipe, then flash and then restore.
But I take no responsibility for what may happen if you dirty flash, or anything.

I forgot to come back and update this thread. The issue for me was resolved by doing a dirty update, with no wipes at all. Obviously do a nandroid back up in your respective recovery first.

New OTA B0C4

Just did an OTA update to B0C4, it updated 303 apps...no other info out there on it.
Curious how battery life is on this 'new' build.
Here's Verizon's PDF http://www.verizonwireless.com/dam/support/pdf/system_update/benefits-galaxy-s5-3-27-15.pdf Looks the same as the OA8 one except a different build number. Hopefully someone makes a rooted version similar to OA8 that we can use to upgrade too!
Can someone capture and post the update file for this OTA.
Edit: I captured the update.zip and will post it shortly.

I simply let the update install as is. I thought that I would loose root but I figured I could get it back after a dev built a new kernel ODIN file for OC4. It turned out that root did not go away.
