I tried the one click root method (Shift Root and Recovery) and got the clockwork recovery installed. I put the cyanogen 7 on the sd card and it seemed to take alright, but now all I get is the HTC splash screen when I reboot. I can get back to recovery and mount the SD card, but nothing else. My SD card did not have the update.zip file. I thought that is what the cyanogen file was for, but now I think I screwed up.
Can anyone help? Have I permenantly killed my phone?
I can go into recovery. I did not do a nano backup. I backed up my wimax. Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated.
I followed the Shift root and recovery steps. It said back up your data... It was supposed to be a one-click root.

Well as a precaution you should always back up your data, just for that "what if" moment that happens every now and again.
Try posting in the shift forum ?

Moving an EVO shift problem to the EVO SuperSonic forum probably isn't going to help MOD.
yea what arnezie said! ^^^
it might be better to follow the Evo Shift forums and ask in there...considering they use the Shift there
heres a link to the rooting thread for the Shift...i suggest either making a new thread in the General area there or post in this thread:

Maybe he moved it here because we are more experienced lol? Either way to op, if you can boot into recovery, put a rom on an extra sdcard and flash off that. Problem solved.
That's what I would like to do, but apparently the rom I am using is not working. Where can I find a different one that will work? When I do the "install zip from sd card in clockwork i don't get any error, but when I reboot it's back to the htc screen... Does it matter that I didn't have an update.zip file? I selected the zip file (cyanogen 7) from the sd card... Is that the same thing?
If you could just direct me to the right place that would be great. I cannot move the thread because I am too new. It would have to be moved by someone with that ability. Thanks to anyone that will lend a hand.
Alright put the cm7 file on ur sdcard then go to recovery and wipe data/factory reset then clear cache and go to advance and clear dalvik cache then go to install zip from SD card option and pick cm7

I tried that and end up in the same place. It flashes the rom awfully quick. Like within 30 seconds. Its like an 80MB file. It doesn't give an error, but I suspect it isn't taking...
That seems right like the right time it takes to flash ....so it didn't work?

Try flashing one that's closer to the original rom. Here are a few.

Ok so here it is. My first ever contribution to XDA!!! (after a year and a half of lurking)
Nexus S style Splash Screen for the EVO with colored Google logo.
How To Install:
- Download googlecolorPC36IMG.zip
- Copy to the root of your sdcard
- Rename the .zip PC36IMG (make sure it's all caps)
- Reboot phone into bootloader
- Select the first option "Bootloader"
- Your phone will then scan the PC36IMG and ask you if you want to update
- Press the volume up key to accept the update
- When it's done, press volume up to reboot the phone
- You're done!

So shouldn't you let the Bonzai team make their own software announcements when they're ready?
Also, I don't see how this would replace Clockwork Recovery. It would replace One Click Root/Unroot, maybe.
yes i am not a protagonist of propaganda except this one particular post
because i for one would love to see an alternative to clockwork

I used to run amon-ra back when i had my hero had no problems with it as it is very easy to use for the first timers, with my epic i havent had too much problem with clockwork and its a little bit deeper than amon-ra in my opinion.

I found it more reliable, I mean, I didnt have to wipe 3 times to flash a ROM and then we got GodSpeed Recovery, good times!
I know I hate CWM. I miss the custom recovery I had on my Moment, and my Transform, and my Hero, and my Evo. It is bs having to wipe 3 times, and it doesnt work right in the first place half the time.
From what I understand about this bonsai unlocker is right now it will root and install a custom recovery. So its just like the one clicks on here but a little smoother. It flashes the bonsai recovery which is cwm 3.0.2.8. In the future you will be able to use this tool to flash bonsai roms. So I don't think cwm is going anywhere. Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I haven't been involved to much right now due to being so busy with stuff but I'm trying to play catch-up.

Just as a heads up, posts of this nature shouldn't go in the Development section they should be placed in the Q&A section. Another thing to remember as well, is to make sure you use the search function of the forum. I know it seems like a hassle when you have a problem with your phone and all you want is immediate answers, but a lot of the time you'll find your answer faster by searching rather than posting your question since someone has probably had the same problem before you.
Just letting you know so that you don't get slapped with any infractions for not following the rules.
I wanted to try a different ROM since I've been using the same one for about a year. I booted into CWM and flashed and followed all the directions about wipe this, reset that. But it will not boot into the ROM. It just stays at the Samsung loading screen. Any ideas on how to fix this?
What rom did you come from? Suggest take it back to stock...with qkster one click and then using his one clock install cwm..then install your new ROM...btw what ROM are you trying to install....see my signature links...to look for one click...lb3 thread...
Can you link me to the right app? I feel like if I guess and try a download it will be wrong.
I was coming from a CM7 build trying to go to Aeon or Zeus or back to the same rom, I kept them all on my SD Card. I'll try going back to stop, and installing CWM.
Thank you, I'll post what happens.

As Joe has recommended, going back to stock with any of the packages will get you out of that boot loop.
You can also try to flash entropy's dd kernel a few times with power off between each flash and then flash your ROM. You can also try flashing the rom you want 2 or 3 times to see if it will take.
The changes in CM9 cwm 5.xxx kernel need to be flashed over a few times.
Sorry, it was CM7 not CM9!

It's a shame people like you have to be on boards like this where we're working with technically complicated processes and data, and you post a ridiculously vague question with absolutely no information. His response was appropriate, and equated to a simple "uh huh.....that's great".
Until you post more information for people other than "I tried flashing it and it failed at 10%", nobody is going to care. The people I see on XDA.....man....
Noone has a clue what you flashed, what processes you used, what files you used, what steps you followed (and didnt follow), etc, what commands you entered, how you flashed items, etc.
Make sure that you're flashing the latest version of your phone's ruu, make sure the phone is locked and in fastboot before you flash.
