Hey Guys,
I know this might be trivial..but i cant seem to find the google keep widget. I restarted my phone after installing google keep, and it doesnt seem to populate in the widget list. Any ideas? I love google keep and have used their widget on all my other devices
It's in mine. I would uninstall and reinstall the app.

hey guys, i'm going to be picking up my captivate in a few days and i plan on rooting/deleting the att "bloatware" asap. based on the preloaded files that are listed on the engadget review (see http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/22/ samsung-galaxy-s-review- shootout-captivate-for-atandt-and-vibrant/), is it safe to delete the following files?
ATT preloaded
ATT family map
ATT hot spots
ATT maps
ATT music
ATT navigator
ATT radio
instant messaging
mobile banking
mobile video
Where
YPmobile
Samsung preloaded
Daily briefing
My files - replace with Astro file manager
Media hub
Mini diary
Memo
MobiTV
Video Player - my understanding is you can play videos directly from stock gallery app
Write and Go
Voice Recorder
Voice Search - is this the same as google's own voice search?
Also for keyboards, can we delete the built in samsung keyboard? I've played around with both the samsung and stock one and there's really no difference, however swype is amazing.
thanks for all help. you guys are the reason why android is so awesome.
One of the threads around here had some guy running into problems when he deleted that Where app. Maybe it was because he deleted other things to I'm not sure, but I would like to see an official list before I completely strip out all of the unnecessary junk.

There's a post here with apps that are safe to remove - I'm sure more could be removed but I don't know which off the top of my head.

After I removed 'daily briefing' from the list of apps, when I slide the homescreen over to the left where daily briefing used to be, it gives a "problem loading widget" screen. Can another widget be put in its place?

Of course. Just hold-click the widget and throw it in the trash can that pops up. Then hold-click the desktop and add whichever widget you like from the list. The uninstall just didn't remove the widget reference.
Never mind, I figured out what I needed to do, but couldn't go back and delete my post. Thanks for your help, though.

Yes, just drag that widget to the trash.
And I never had any problems either after deleting the Where app.
Ive been using the tasks widget from HTC and got a notification that there was an update for it through the htc hub. When I went to the hub to update it, it would not download and install the update correctly. It would say its installing when it was at only 56%?? Or sometimes even less then that and then the download would just disappear. So I thought maybe i should uninstall and reinstall the widget. Once I did it has never been able to fully download and install again. What should I do? And ive tried other task widgets on the android market and nothing else really looks as good or is over complicated for something so simple.
HTC Sense is crap. It tells me updates are available for widgets, yet won't let me update them. It also won't let me download any new ones. My Friends stream no longer auto updates. It has never properly synced my contacts. There is usually one or two missing or a pic is wrong for one or two.

Hey Community,
I been searching for the past 3 days on this forum. Can someone tell me or direct me to a list of apps that are safe to remove from the HTC One S...
THanks
Pretty much anything you want as long as you don't remove core asps that you need for your phone to function.
For example, I remove the stock browser, live wallpapers and wallpaper picker, picasa uploader, some of the gapps, and any launchers I don't use.
Just don't delete system ui or anything like that lol

If I've helped hit the thanks button
Deleting maps app yields most performance , quadrant scores go through the roof

If it helps, I've disabled these apps (running stock unrooted by the way):
411 & More (T-mo service)
Access T-mobile
Bonus Apps
Friend Stream
Friend Stream Lock screen
Friend Stream Widget
Game Base
Google Play Movies
Google+
Lookout Security
MobileLife
More for Me
News & Weather
Polaris Office
Slacker Radio
Stock Widget
Stocks
Stocks Lock screen
T-mobile Mall
T-mobile TV
Twitter
Twitter for HTC Sense
Twitter Widget
Watch
Watch Widget
Weather
Weather Widget
Zinio
You can probably safely remove these as well, but disabling them is just as good. The apps don't start, and it doesn't drain my battery like task killers would (services start and restart; disabling in ICS keeps them off)
Does anyone know what the screen shot apk happens to be? I keep on deleting a particular apk which kills the screen shot ability

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I was curious about peoples opinions/preferences between these two launchers?
I've been using Google Now Launcher on my Galaxy Nexus for a couple of months and really liked it. After grabbing my M8, I installed Google Now Launcher on it, but I hear a lot of praise for Blinkfeed on Sense 6.
While the concept of Blinkfeed is certainly interesting, the link summaries in my highlights are vague or non-existent. I'm also struggling to find a way to do Google Search voice triggers. Adding a Google Search bar doesn't seem to provide this functionality. Overall, Blinkfeed seems to be a poorly done Google Now with social media integration. Are there any fans of Blinkfeed that can help me improve my experience?

I tried blinkfeed on my M7 for a few months until root came out. and switched to the google launcher.
I tried blinkfeed on the M8 for all of an hour before I switched to the Google Launcher again.
I'm in the same boat as you. I just wish I could get anything besides the HTC lock screen as I want pattern lock. But I don't want it to wipe my phone after 10 attempts.
I'm using Action Launcher but wanted to check out Blinkfeed. You can create a shortcut to Blinkfeed with Activity Launcher and use it like an app. Thought I'd give it a chance and still use my launcher of choice.

I hadn't considered that. I might just have to play with it that way. As an at a glance widget/page, I feel Google Now is far superior, but I'd like to play around with it and see if Blinkfeed is good for social media and the like.
I have enjoyed using Google Now launcher on my Rezound and my Nexus. I'm going with Blinkfeed and have moved the Google search as one of my five dock icons so I can get the equivalent at any time.

you know you can just swipe up from the bottom on any of the home screens and have google now anytime without using up your shortcuts on the bottom
If Sense supported custom gestures (I use swipe up to bring up the drawer, swipe down to see notifications, and double-tap to show the toggles) I would try it out. But I use those gestures ALL the time.
For those with Google Now Launcher, few questions(sorry for the sidetrack):
Is there more icons on the screen? I went to nova laucher for more rows of icons and no blinkfeed.
any issues with side loading?
where did you get the apk, (I can find one, I would like to have a know working version)?
Does the play store update the laucher after the install for updates?

Yeah, forgot about that; thanks for mentioning it. Ultimately, that's what I did, giving something else that precious 4th spot on the dock.
non transparent Nav bar on GNL
Hey guys. Did any of you getting this annoying semitransparent nav bar while having a Google now launcher on HTC M8 ?
I mean the original nav bar on BlinkFeed is completely transparent, also Google now launcher installed on any device so far (running KitKat) had a transparent nav bar ! What is wrong with GNL and HTC M8 ??
Check out this picks.

I really don't think viperone is what screwed your phone up as I am running it and have installed and re-installed about 10 different times when checking out different ROM's.
It sounds like user error to me.
What was your install process ?
Did you do a checksum on the download before installing ?
Only one time did I have a faulty ROM and it was due to a bad download as I forgot to do a checksum on it.

FWIW, I don't like either, I use Nova Launcher.
Good morning everyone. So I somehow managed to delete my search widget from my home screen and it's driving me crazy because I can't figure out how to get it back. I've tried looking in widgets but it's not there. PLEASE HELP!
Device: Samsung Galaxy S9+
There are a few ways to check:
1. Reset the Launcher App Data.
2. Reset Google App Data.
3. Reinstall Google App.
4. Check for Google App in the widget section.
5. Install A third party Google Widget.
If none of these work, reply me for further assistance.
