[Q] Xperia L vs Xperia M - Sony Xperia L

Hello xperia L people!!
I am here to ask you 1 question.
Xperia M or Xperia L?
I have searched the differences but sometimes the appearances are deceptive..
One friend of mine thinks of buying one of these two. What should I recommend him and why?
Thanks a lot ^_^.

But they use the same processor, same ram and same video graphics card....and don't forget MP don't always make the difference...What matters is also the lens used by the phone..

Xperia L have different chipset
When time comes.. The world Ll knoe

The last update for M is 4.3 whereas for L its 4.2.2.
L's hardware is better than M.
So if getting features of 4.3 is important to you (neither of them is going to get latest version, Kitkat) you can choose M. Otherwise it should be L.
Of course its your choice in the end.

XL is slightly better hardware-wise, but XM has got upgrade to Android 4.3, while XL can only hope for 4.4 in the future (XM probably won't get it at all). If you feel comfortable with flashing custom ROMs/kernels, you can wait for CAF kernel to get done (should happen soon) and integrated into AOSPA/CM/any other ROM and get Android 4.4 before official release and have XL better than XM in every aspect. I'm not sure how KitKat development is going at XM though. If not, choice is on you - do you really want Android 4.3 features or hate concave back (it can get annoying with NFC sometimes)? Go for XM. Otherwise, XL should be a better choice.

XL - Xperia L
XM - Xperia M
AOSPA - Android Open Source Project - Paranoid Android
CM - CyanogenMod
NFC - Near Field Communication

[BAD NEWS] No official Jellybean update for Miro,Tipo,Tipo dual

OK, now it is official. Sony made an announcment that they will never release official Android 4.1 for Miro,Tipo, Tipo Dual and that they will remain on Android 4.0 forever...However Xperia J will be updated to 4.1....Bad news

Of course! We will have firmware updates for very long time, but never Jellybean....
They're fooling us in a way...
As always they say the hardware (tipo) is not strong enough for JB or any update...
That's definitely WRONG! There are even older and less powerful devices with JB. Just take a look in the x10 mini section for example. Why don't they just say "man the tipo is a cheap device, we want to sell new devices, so if you want a new version of the operating system BUY OUR NEW PHONES?". Is that so hard to admit???
At least we have encouraged devs who will bring JB AND newer versions (I'm sure of that) to the tipo and other "weak"devices. :good:
Hit "Thanks" if I helped you, pleeez!
By the way is cm10 tested on tipo???

If you want an official Sony JellyBean ROM then you only need to wait for the release of the Xperia E, I'm sure it'll be quite easy to port the factory image from that device to the Tipo / Miro. (It should be possible to port from the Xperia J too, but it's better to port from a device with the same screen resolution, just to be safe...)
But my Xperia Miro is lagging even on Android 4.0, so we really need development now to fix lags...
Sony you don't need to update Miro and Tipo to 4.1 but please fix lags....
Sony make us believe please....

Yes! We can port from Xperia E
Xperia E is Tipo with 1Ghz
But it will not serve as base for Miro as it has 3 Mpix and without front camera....So we must use J for that
Xperia J is Miro With bigger screen and screen resolution and 1Ghz
Ok but we need developers. I know Lens_Flare, he is the cofounder of lfdesigns with me. He is ready to help us if we offer him a miro
Had CM10 installed yesterday on my Miro and it is way miles ahead of the
OEM ICS that it had before. It runs smoothly, no lags, no hiccups. I reverted
back to OEM ICS because I liked some parts of the ICS functionality better
than JB but CM10 works fine.
Of course...Please do better with Miro..Sony!!

Really Good News For Xperia J
I will try to port the official Xperia E or perhaps the Xperia J ROM (depending on whether the Xperia E has some extra unexpected incompatibility) to the Xperia Tipo. I believe, since it also can be a dual sim phone, it will simply be the same hardware as the Tipo but with the upgraded processor and a new case, just as the J is the same hardware as the Miro but with the upgraded processor and a new case (and a better screen).

Xperia J Jelly Bean Whats You Opinion

Xperia J Jelly Bean Discussion
Well we have jelly bean at last time for people to have there say, what they think, if there happy or dissapointed.
in my view im really dissapointed apart from the 3.4 kernel update and stock power widgets in the notification draw sony have given us nothing new at all. Google now, project butter are part of the platform and are not from sony. they have let consumers down again all this update seems like is a fixed ics rom nothing new. no updated walman, album movies, launcher or lock screen nothing. i no our devs will have no problem to fix sonys mess yet again but is not the point.
Any other opinians fellow users?
i am not dissapointed at all, phone is buttery smooth now thats all i wanted.

I am not disappointed at all. The performance is really great and better than in stock ICS but battery drain is bigger and there are only few changes like statusbar, settings.
When I updated it I was like: Um? And that's all?
Despite that I am glad that we got this update.
Btw, can we build AOSP for jlo?
I'm wondering if clean android would be better than stock

I prefer CM / AOKP too but actually we don't have CM10 for jlo stable enough, not enough for me. I was using AOKP but since official JB came out I am on stock JB.
Do you think official JB can make CM10 fully woking on jlo?

Bravia Engine was never part of Xperia J.
I don't know how some people are not happy with the new firmware.
My opinion is that after this update the Xperia J finally feels like a real android phone from 2012 year.
Finally everything is smooth and runs like it supposed to. (on a single core CPU that is - can't ask for miracles)
I am very happy with the new update.

battery drain is the first problem i face after my XJ updated to JB
and the second is the auto sleep wifi & data connection that is so uncomfortable, already set the wifi to always on during sleep
but still its off everytime the phone was sleep
and huge lag everytime i unlock my phone after a quite long sleep
i don't see any real impact of that "project butter"
and yes XJ has limited hardware but sony still could make it better

Reasons to consider Cyanogenmod for Xperia Tipo

REASONS TO CONSIDER CYANOGENMOD ON XPERIA TIPO
NB: I AM WRITING THIS IN ORDER TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT USING A CUSTOM ROM FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Well, it has been a few weeks I have played with 3 most promising ROMs for Tipo - Cyanogenmod, AOKP& Z-Fusion.
All of them were better than the stock ROM provided by Sony. Out of the 3, CM was was the most stable(atleast for my phone).
AOKP offered more control over the ROM but it froze more often in tipo. Z-Fusion was visually good(very good job done with the interface) but it lacked some controls offered by CM.
Now one can ask, why CM? Whats wrong with the beautiful firmware by Sony?
Well, there is nothing wrong with the official firmware but it is a heavy burden on the memory. The UI is eye-catching but it takes a lot of memory for the tiniest details, whereas CM has a simple and neat UI( the Trebuchet Launcher, gotta love it!!!) which is very lightweight and fast and responsive. The control over the behaviour of the ROM is what appeals the most. Starting from the lockscreen to its CPU, everything under your control. Lots of customization option available for the user.
The best thing about Cyanogenmod is that the in built apps are very memory friendly. In tipo, after a fresh and clean installation you get about 600 mb of phone memory. The original firmware of a new phone offers 450-500 mb of phone memory( it depends on region, 450-500 in my region). So those who are fanatic about their phone memory should try out CM as it is the most stable out there for tipo.
Hope this is useful to some extent.
I'm currently using CM10 (FXP212) and it is running very smooth.
I want to make a few comments to this:
- custom ROMs are overall a little bit less stable, especially if they're still in development phase, which all of Tipo's custom ROMs are. Although CM is quite stable since the few last updates.
- Z-Fusion is still based on an older CM10 build. That's where the partial lesser features come from. There have been some updates in the CM10 project since Z-Fusion released.
- AOKP is FAR from done.
Honestly in my opinion you should also cover some the downsides of Custom ROMs when you post something like this, because it isn't really objective like this.
I do agree CM10 FXP project is a wonderful project, but it was also the first so it had more time to advance and evolve into a great ROM. Give the other ROMs a chance.
Also, are you planning to add more ROMs to your review?
Regards, Drago
I really appreciate your opinions
This post was meant for upsides of the ROMs. However, I will make another post to point out the demerits.
Thanks for encouraging me.

thank you and i saw Cyanogenmod work more fluently than stock rom and i'm thinking install Cyanogenmod in my tipo and install a custom rom have compatibility with locked bootloader xD
I'm thinking to install CM10 on my Tipo, but still have my doubts, because I can't find any info about the pro's on the net.
Is it really really faster then the stock ?
At this point, my phone is really laggy at some point (stock). Even, when all the unneeded apps are deleted.
When I type a message, my phone laggs almost everytime.
That's why I was looking at the freexperia project, but yeah, warranty void :/
That's a big downside for me...

If you are looking for laggless rom stay away from fxp, at least for now because stock i much faster than cm for this day (fxp214).
I recommend you to use gimlo rom with pimp my rom tweak (aroma version) it makes tipo much faster.
To tell the diffrence here are quadrant benchmark results i got:
Fxp 214 ~1000pts
Gimlo 0.3 ~1500pts
Gimlo 0.3 + Pimp my rom ~1700pts
Try FXP221. U will find how great fxp rom now

I accept that the development is slow but in my view, there are two reasons for that. One is we already hoped for the official 4.2 and it is here. there are guyz who prefer stock over custom of same version so there will be less demand for that and hence less feedback and the other reason is our Xl isn't too old for getting all this in just a wave. So stay calm and wait for the devs to make there decisions.
In my view, if the sony is poviding the stock 4.2 and we have freedom of xposed then why spend our precious time in building a less buggy 4.2 than stock. build all new kitkat
i'm with you...straight for 4.4 KITKAT
but i'am until now still waiting for CM....
