Based on your bootloader version, I don't think you can, but I might be wrong.
What Windows Phone version are you running?
As of yet, there's no way to flash an RUU version 2.00.401.03 on a phone that has a greater version installed (if you've installed any updates, you'll have a greater version).
IF you could flash, you would first need to debrand your phone first (search for ACDU fix for that), since the RUUs that have been released are straight from HTC, with no carrier modifications and they would fail to flash on a branded phone.

From what I've read as far as flashing goes, the operation is a no-go because the OS version is too high and it would cause the flashing progress to stop at the error message "Image version less than..". Do not attempt it since you'll be left with a brick.

Hmm, I guess whatever that nbh flashes has been updated.
I can't understand why they decided to have that check in place... if I flash a stock RUU, it shouldn't matter what was previously running on the device, it should flash everything back to stock. Why do they make this so user un-friendly?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I was to get a Vodafone UK Sensation could I debrand it via the gold card method using the Europe RUU or is the locked bootloader gonna pose an issue?
+1 for an answer. I saw that little box thingy for generating gold cards and wondered if that would work.
I've been waiting for some info to come up on debranding too. But I didnt know if it would be possible until the unbranded handsets come out.

no you wont, since you'll be changing the bootloader. so no chance of jumping ship from voda branding
Thought as much, waiting for the unbranded handsets to be released then I'll get one of them - assuming it's actually any good
Or get your phone from Vodafone unbranded like me!

You won't be changing the bootloader by unbranding it.
If you get a goldcard to work, you just flash over the shipped HTC stock ROM.
However, I have been having problems with the goldcard method. I can create the card, but the CID check still fails when running the ROM off the card.

No, but I guess it will fail anyway, since the CID check failed for the ROM on the SD card via bootloader, I imagine it will fail via the RUU also.
Does the phone need to be connected via HTC Sync to run an RUU? Or just connected via Charge only?
You can run it in FASTBOOT, going by other HTC handsets

Hmm. Might be worth a try. But I am sure the CID check will fail.
Update: I tried the RUU using the fastboot method, and again, it failed on the CID. Everything was going well until then.
We need someone else to try with a goldcard on their device. Mine doesn't work at all
Has there been any progress with this? I'd really like to debrand if poss.

Which SD card are you using?
I tried to de-brand a friend's Hero once using the Goldcard method. Using his 4GB Kingstone didn't work, then I tried my 2GB SanDisk and it went right through.
Hi.
just some questions to get things straight.
My English isn't "DA bomb"
If i could use the GoldCard method i could install every ROM i like right?
But if there's an other ROM i would like to install can you flash it just like that? Or do i need the GoldCard method again?
Sorry for the misunderstanding but my English isn't perfect
Thanks in advance

Using Goldcard, you can ONLY install signed ROMs, i.e. official ROMs.
But we don't think it works correctly sadly.

I could give it a try... It would be nice to have an official ROM without the Vodafone branding. Thx for clearing it up for me !!
I'm new to HTC, if I wanted to try debranding, where do you get the roms from?
Does the Goldcard-method or other methods work on the sensation ?
Because i bought the sensation yesterday with vodafone branding and i hate it
When the sensation is debranded i can install only official roms in the moment, right ?
I tried again, to flash the HTC 1.27 ROM, and I get a signature error. I get a CID error with the HTC 1.24 ROM. That's using a 2GB Kingston SD card for my goldcard. I'm starting to think it doesn't work
Where did you get the roms from?
I dont even know where to start looking, is there a site like samfirmwares for htc?
EDIT:
nmv just found the thread in the dev section on here.
Hi guys,
I am new here, so maybe I missed something.
Anyway, I followed the tutorial step-by-step to unlock my HTC Desire S which I got today (so it has a 2.x bootloader) like stated here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1443636
But I can't seem to install any RUU cause of "Error 131", as told in the tutorial, I must use the RUU for my specific region.
So, my Region is Germany and my phone is from o2.
So first I used
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.exe

because Germany is in Europe. And the only GER RUU is from "TMO" which may mean "T-Mobile" I guess. But it didn't work.
Next I thought "**** that ****" and I tried to flash (after repeating all tutorial steps):
RUU_Saga_TMO_DE_1.30.111.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_178580_signed.exe

But it still shows up "Error 131"... so now I am depressed. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you very much

Hi there,
You need to flash the RUU that is supported by your phone's version.
Turn the phone into fastboot mode (voldown + power), click fastboot, wait till it shows fastboot usb.
Open console in PC and find the android tools, type:
<androidtool dir>\ fastboot getvar all
It should come up as: INFOversion etc.
What you need to look for is INFOversion-main and INFOcidnum
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
and download the RUU that matches!
If you've S-OFF'd the phone with Revolutionary, then RUU will have some problems with overwriting the bootloader, follow this guide to re S-ON.

Very helpful reply buddy.
But i don't think the last line applies to him. He said he just got the phone, and it had the v2.xxx hboot to begin with, so he went looking to downgrade. If he had acheived S-off, he wouldn't be asking how to S-off in the first place.
@OP : You should try using a Goldcard when faced with a difficult choice of Region-specific RUUs. Try making one (Use Search function) and then re-running the European RUU. (You may also have to check your Misc_version to ensure compatibility, or you may hit a roadblock again.
Hi,
I just wanted to confirm for further searches / use that what has been stated inside the first answer is fully working.
I got my Desire S downgraded, S-OFFed and was able to flash MIUI, so it's finding it's way to my girlfriend as birthday present soon thank you for helping.
Ive been trying to find out why my phone (with the 2.21 RUU currently installed) wont receive OTA's
The bootloader is relocked and it has the stock recovery, so it should work
Ive been reading a lot of posts (more ore less about this) some are hinting that RUU's dont give OTA's
Does anyone have a definitive answer, does a RUU get OTA's or not?
Thanks

Yes RUU are stock HTC roms. It's like a super factory reset. But you can only receive an OTA if the region your phone is in offers an OTA. More specifically if there is an OTA offered to CID that your phone has.

OK, thanks, that was exactly the kind of info i needed !
Check the build number on the phone.
If there is a r2 behind it then you wont get the update since there are ni developed paths from a r2 to something else.

Flashing the at&t ruu must be risky. They are different version. The ruu is the 1.32.502.3. But I have flash magio rom before and use the ruu to get back to the stock version. You should not s-off if you ever think about going back to stock to get warranty. The closest to stock for your phone is using revone to lock your bootloader and going back to s-on. As someone has mentioned, doing those is not 100% true. If you are returning the phone to your carrier to get a replacement then just make sure to get rid of your superuser and lock the bootloader. You can also try to s-on back but it's too risky.

Where can I find stock ruu for htc one mini?
If you're trying to return it for warranty then just brick your phone. Don't flash the AT&T ruu because when they check it will show AT&T suff in there and they will know about it. Unless it bricks don't flash it unless your phone is the AT&T version.

These messages are not a concern, you won't have any legal issues neither be compromising your financial information. Just the standard disclaimer that you'll find on all HTC phones when flashing unsigned images.
If device is powered off and message is still on screen as stated... Id try flashing the official RUU for your region and see if it disappears...If still on screen when phone is powered off... I'd look into an rma
