I have extracted and decrypted the att ruu for the htc one mini. Just so if anyone needs something out of it and doesnt want to flash the entire ruu

hope it helps lemme know if link works. my mega screws up sometimes.

It's possible to unroot phone by this. I have s-off, Htc One Mini, UK T-mobile version, but I want back to s-on with unrooted phone to get my warranty again.

Flashing the at&t ruu must be risky. They are different version. The ruu is the 1.32.502.3. But I have flash magio rom before and use the ruu to get back to the stock version. You should not s-off if you ever think about going back to stock to get warranty. The closest to stock for your phone is using revone to lock your bootloader and going back to s-on. As someone has mentioned, doing those is not 100% true. If you are returning the phone to your carrier to get a replacement then just make sure to get rid of your superuser and lock the bootloader. You can also try to s-on back but it's too risky.

ive got two phones replaced already if you need warrany...brick the bastard solid so you have a dead black screen. play dumb like it just happened on the charger overnight.lol

Where can I find stock ruu for htc one mini?

If you're trying to return it for warranty then just brick your phone. Don't flash the AT&T ruu because when they check it will show AT&T suff in there and they will know about it. Unless it bricks don't flash it unless your phone is the AT&T version.

4.4.2 came out for at&t yesterday. Can you download it and extract it maybe?

Debranding the Sensation

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I was to get a Vodafone UK Sensation could I debrand it via the gold card method using the Europe RUU or is the locked bootloader gonna pose an issue?
+1 for an answer. I saw that little box thingy for generating gold cards and wondered if that would work.
I've been waiting for some info to come up on debranding too. But I didnt know if it would be possible until the unbranded handsets come out.

no you wont, since you'll be changing the bootloader. so no chance of jumping ship from voda branding
Thought as much, waiting for the unbranded handsets to be released then I'll get one of them - assuming it's actually any good
Or get your phone from Vodafone unbranded like me!

You won't be changing the bootloader by unbranding it.
If you get a goldcard to work, you just flash over the shipped HTC stock ROM.
However, I have been having problems with the goldcard method. I can create the card, but the CID check still fails when running the ROM off the card.

No, but I guess it will fail anyway, since the CID check failed for the ROM on the SD card via bootloader, I imagine it will fail via the RUU also.
Does the phone need to be connected via HTC Sync to run an RUU? Or just connected via Charge only?
You can run it in FASTBOOT, going by other HTC handsets

Hmm. Might be worth a try. But I am sure the CID check will fail.
Update: I tried the RUU using the fastboot method, and again, it failed on the CID. Everything was going well until then.
We need someone else to try with a goldcard on their device. Mine doesn't work at all
Has there been any progress with this? I'd really like to debrand if poss.

Which SD card are you using?
I tried to de-brand a friend's Hero once using the Goldcard method. Using his 4GB Kingstone didn't work, then I tried my 2GB SanDisk and it went right through.
Hi.
just some questions to get things straight.
My English isn't "DA bomb"
If i could use the GoldCard method i could install every ROM i like right?
But if there's an other ROM i would like to install can you flash it just like that? Or do i need the GoldCard method again?
Sorry for the misunderstanding but my English isn't perfect
Thanks in advance

Using Goldcard, you can ONLY install signed ROMs, i.e. official ROMs.
But we don't think it works correctly sadly.

I could give it a try... It would be nice to have an official ROM without the Vodafone branding. Thx for clearing it up for me !!
I'm new to HTC, if I wanted to try debranding, where do you get the roms from?
Does the Goldcard-method or other methods work on the sensation ?
Because i bought the sensation yesterday with vodafone branding and i hate it
When the sensation is debranded i can install only official roms in the moment, right ?
I tried again, to flash the HTC 1.27 ROM, and I get a signature error. I get a CID error with the HTC 1.24 ROM. That's using a 2GB Kingston SD card for my goldcard. I'm starting to think it doesn't work
Where did you get the roms from?
I dont even know where to start looking, is there a site like samfirmwares for htc?
EDIT:
nmv just found the thread in the dev section on here.

[Q] Sending Sensation back for repair - Warranty Q

So my Sensation was S-Off and rooted however it started to play up so went back to S-On and Un-rooted, HBOOT now reads ****Locked**** and S-On. Is this all I need to do, does something more need to be done, will they be able to tell? They said on the phone if warranty is voided then I must incur the cost of fixing it..
Id really appreciate your help guys.

Hi, i am sending mine back tomorrow as well.
Do I have to put it back to S-ON? I've heard its risky.
Best to, and it's not risky if you follow the guide to a T
Make sure you've set the CID back to what it should be before doing it (assuming you changed it in the first place)
Hey, it looks like mine's going back as well.
I'm a little unsure of which version HTC rom was default on it because I bought it from Pixmania and not a carrier.
It originally had Vodafone branding and the box is written in German.
I don't think I've changed off of the original kernel or radio as I've only switched roms through ROM Manager since I rooted the phone using these instructions.
-ANkh
I too am wondering the same thing, but my problem is slightly different. My phone wont even power on so i was unable to s-on factory rom it, im unsure of what exactly needs to be replaced on the phone so idk if theyre gonna be able to see that the software has been changed.
Hi again,

1) you mean Sim - unlocked right? In that case it won't get locked even if you update the phone software.
2)First and important step is using the search function and I known its very hard for you but once in a while try using the search function, trust me you won't get tired

Thanks. Unfortunately I don't know how to do that. I guess I'll hold off 4.0.4 for now...
You need to read some more, before running things willy-nilly without the proper research.
I would advise against running the 2.20 RUU. As I already mentioned, it updates the hboot, which robs you of the ability to flash kernels and radios. There is no upside to it, since you can flash the ROM in other ways. Your phone is bootloader unlocked, and has full ability to flash kernels and radios. These are all good things. Don't take a step backward by flashing the 2.20 RUU.
If all you want is to update the ROM to 2.20, just flash the pre-rooted ROM (which will not replace the hboot): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1812459
But in fact, these are more recent versions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1789059

Ya know, you guys CAN extract the rom.zip from 2.2x ruu and pull each image and flash them individually to get the 2.2x updates and keep your unlocked 1.09 hboot intact. That way you dont have to do the kernal flashing and what not. It will be fully updated, sbl's, radio everything.

No need to relock it. Just run one of the stock rooted or custom ROMs in Development. Flash a new radio if you want.

An AT&T phone won't get the updates unless it's on their network it seems. Just download the ruu

Bump. I unlocked my Rogers One X a while back, because I am planning on selling it. Since that time though, I have run an RUU on it. I no longer have another carrier's SIM card to test, so I just want to know if the unlock is permanent , or if it gets relocked when an RUU or factory reset is run.
The SIM unlock is permanent and will survive any RUU or factory reset.

DON'T DO ANYTHING YET!
Latest firmware for AT&T is 3.18, which comes with the JB 4.1 Sense update. This firmware is not rooted, so if you were lucky enough to get an older HOX (2.20 or 1.85 firmware, neither of which is Jelly Bean), then you can root it, which you must do before you take the OTA update (in which case there's no reason to take it afterwards anyways). :good:

On 2.20, you can use the X-Factor root exploit or hasoon's all-in-one kit. Afaik, perm root requires you to unlock your bootloader, which in turn requires SuperCID (country ID? carrier ID? I can't remember). If you try to run the OTA with superCID, it will fail and entirely brick your phone.
However, with an unlocked bootloader, you can install a custom recovery and flash the updated ROM manually with no problems.

Not quite. You can still lose root if you update to a newer firmware. You need to s-off after rooting and unlocking. It's s-on + supercid + 3.18 that causes the brick.
To OP:
Assuming you get a 2.20 phone, you should run the toolkit to root, supercid, and unlock, then s-off (link to thread is in my sig). A lot of people have gotten bricked by upgrading to 3.18 because they didn't think they needed s-off.
Once you're s-off, you can never lose root because it turns off all security restrictions on your phone.

Not to derail the thread, but for my own knowledge, is it possible to get into a permanently rooted state without supercid?

You need supercid to get s-off, but after that, you can return to stock cid without issues. With s-off, you can change your cid to whatever you want.

Last question for now, I promise, and I'll return the thread to it's rightful owner. Are there any advantages to going back to stock cid, outside of wanting the take the OTA update without bricking?

Once you're s-off, I don't think it makes a difference, unless you lost your unlock token and need another one. Then you've got to assign 22222222 as your cid (supercid no longer works on htcdev).
Ok so I got my package from UPS....opened it and noticed the tamper seal was already broken....since it was sold as a new unit that seal should have been sealed....i call ATT and and going to go to a store to swap it out for another one...good thing too cause the one I got had the 3.18 firmware so I couldn't root....here's to hoping I luck out on the next one
ok so lucked out and got a 2.20....anyways i unlocked the bootloader and rooted...i'm attempting s-off...not successful yet....but phone is trying to update....i turned off all data to the phone temp...how do i stop the phone from downloading the update??? i don't wanna brick it...can i let it update once i get s-off?

Just keep declining the update. It won't force it for a few days.

3.18
I just bought a new One X from a local AT&T store and it has firmware 3.18 with JB 4.1.1. It's the greatest phone I've ever had. Sucks that I can't root it though. I've been trying to think of ways to unlock the bootloader, but I guess it's the encryption that's the real deal.
I was thinking about trying the xfactor exploit just for kicks, although I read that they killed that with 3.18, not to mention the CID block on HTCdev.

If s-off you can. But not sure that's necessary as once s-off you could flash the intl firmware and then a custom intl (stock rom). If you attempt to fully convert by changing mid and cid and then ruu you likely won't succeed. There's more to it than that.

ok, thanks for your help. Yes i'm s-off and I've changed teh mid to 0P6B100 and cid to supercid but you're right, i get error everytime i try to flash ruu.
and on top of that, i cannot revert back to verizon mid with the mid changer thing. now i'm stuck with a no rom m8 'coz none of all i've tried did work, neither zip flashable ruu nor the exe one
a little help please

So this is usually what happens. I can help you back out of it if you want using teamviewer if you are game. The partitions from a Verizon to a sprint to an intl m8 aren't the same. That's the problem.

yes I am, the thing is, i'm on mac os x. adb and fastboot cmd are working great but if you plan to use shell cmd I'm not sure it will work though
I think The same happened to me
I'm bringing this over from the HTC One help thread as instructed
I'm on Metropcs and wanted an HTC One GPE
Bought an unlocked verizon HTC One M8
Rooted it with kingroot, then unlocked the bootloader and s-off with sunshine.
Was in the process of changing the model id by flashing it with Golv's MID changer when the usb cord was pulled from the computer (I'll take that to the appropriate thread for THAT discussion)
Now the phone only comes up in bootloader mode, but I have no options (reset, reboot etc) it only says RUU where my options were.
ADB won't detect the phone however fastboot will and when I do fastboot getvar all I seem to have all the original stuff. (Except the CID has been changed to GOOGL001)
I can fastboot reboot-bootloader but the screen comes up as if I did fastboot oem rebootRUU except that there is a triangle in each corner of the screen with an exclamation mark in them.
Yes this is my first time trying anything like this.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

ok, so let's do it then
seems like finally I figure out how to fix it. I was able to bring back the verizon's MID by using the shell command and then flash a verizon's rom and firmware without any issues
Fixed it!

Thanks so much for your offer, but someone told me about another post of yours using ruuM8_TWRP_2_7.zip and that solved it! So either way you're a great help!
Now is there a way I can get this phone's hotspot to work on the Metropcs plan? (That's what started this debacle)
