Many of us here must be tech news followers and remember when the Nexus 5 was released, an article came up on the web about the hint Google gave for nexus 5 in the Jellybean 4.3 Camera. The small icon of a device for switching to front camera had the same design language as of Nexus 5 and this 4.3 update was of time when Nexus 5 was still not released. Overall, I just mean to say that Google teased Nexus 5 in 4.3 update.
[Q]So whats the matter now? Why did I make this thread?
Ans.Yesterday, Google released Google Camera on Play Store and even though it received some negative comments, I thing in which I was interested was the picture of the device that showed up on the One-time Instruction screen to take the shot when I switched to Panorama mode. The device did not represent Nexus 4 or Nexus 5 or not even any of the device of Nexus lineup. So which device does this picture represent? Well, according to me it is the Nexus 6. The camera lens definitely looks like the one on the Nexus 5, but its in the center. So it clearly suggests that its a similar device to Nexus 5 but not exactly Nexus 5. So the only contender that remains is Nexus 6.

To support this teaser, I have one more proof to present here. As everybody knows, last two generation of Nexus devices were based on the corresponding yearly flagship of LG. The simple reason was that LG was the manufacturer of the Nexus devices for last two years and according to rumors, the same trend will continue. So we can safely assume that Nexus 6 will be based of LG G3. Below is the leaked picture of LG G3 and one can clearly make out that it looks quite similar to he device on the screenshot above.
Final Verdict: Considering the way Google teased Nexus 5 in 4.3 camera, Google's trend of getting the LG flagships as base and the rumors, I think that the Nexus 6 will have the same design language as the device in the instruction screen for taking Panorama in Google Camera.
What are your opinions folks?
I think HTC

The forthcoming smartphone collaboration between Google and LG, dubbed the Optimus G Nexus, is being lined up to debut as early as November, according to recent reports.
Popular mobile blog Android and Me has pinpointed next month for the launch of the new device and, more interestingly, also claimed that the new Nexus handset will be used by Google as a platform to launch a new version of Android, likely numbered 4.2. Well my birthday also comes in November Anyway, Android and Me has obtained its information from a "regular source who has provided accurate information in the past."
The Optimus G Nexus will be a tweaked version of the Optimus G (pictured, top) smartphone, unveiled by LG last month. That device arrived pre-loaded with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but speculation is now rife that one of the primary changes to the new, Nexus-branded handset will be its showcasing of a new Google mobile OS.
Indeed, further reports indicate that the new device won't just feature an incremental Android upgrade, but will also be compatible with Google's next big mobile OS leap: Android 5.0, thought to have been dubbed Key Lime Pie, which is being tipped for an autumn-2013 launch.
There's no word of what clever confectionery-related code name version 4.2 might get – personally, we'd like to see a bit of a nod to Android's UK fanbase via a playful moniker like Rice Pudding, Treacle Tart or even Deep Fried Mars Bar. Realistically, though, given Google's US heritage, it's likely to be closer to Marshmallow, Gummy Bear, or even – given its arrival at the beginning of the festive season - Candy Cane.
Android's pudding-like code names are - to date, at least - in alphabetical order. With version 5.0 set to keep with that tradition - the dessert buffet's next stop is thought to be a slice of Key Lime Pie - it seems likely that Android 4.2 will in fact stick with the Jelly Bean moniker, and possibly even be dubbed Android 4.1.2 to avoid undue confusion. Thanks to Alex for wiping the sleep dust out of our eyes.)
In terms of spec, the Optimus G Nexus is likely to closely resemble the LG Optimus G. That device is a true powerhouse smartphone, featuring a 4.7in display with a resolution of 1280 x 768 pixels at 317 PPI. It alos sports an impressive quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor in the engine room, and boasts one of the most impressive smartphone cameras on the market, coming equipped with a 13-megapixel primary snapper.
Despite rumours of the impending Android update, roll out of the more recent iterations of Google's mobile OS continues to progress slowly. Recent statistics show that while deployment of Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean is increasing, the most popular version is still 2.3 Gingerbread, which appears on almost 56 per cent of all Android devices. ICS now features on some 23 per cent of Android toys, while Jelly Bean lags well behind with a meagre deployment of just 1.2 per cent
We can only wait and see!
Are there already any improvements or "big-bang" innovations known
Looks like I have a new Christmas present well I'm hoping atleast!

Alphabetical
Just thought you should know, Google follows alphabetical order for its releases:
Froyo
Gingerbread
Honeycomb
Ice Cream Sandwich
Jelly Bean
So the next one needs to start with K.
according to Modaco, this is coming with a non-removable battery, 8/16 GB storage options, obviously no external sd card. 2 gig ram, android 4.2, and an 8mp camera.
hopefully, the other manufacturers have some better options for their nexus certified devices.
ot/ i feel like time is moving so slowly...ICS on the galaxy nexus was showcased on 10/19/11. That seems so far away now..

Here is a video that puts all the rumors into one thing.
Its an LG phone. It's going to suck. No Thanks.
Good to have another nexus manufacturer!
It's LG, I'm out. My experience with a granted, budget LG Shine+ pretty much guarantees it. Frequently would just freeze, drop wifi, etcetera and sent it away for repair. Came back with the same problems, and reading the forums it wasn't exactly an unheard of problem.
I also want a removable battery, and microsd. Really, is that so hard to ask?
I think if google is gonna be handling the software and accepting the hardware design it's gonna be an alright phone

the g2x was a disaster. lg smart phones have always been horrific. going with lg i'm sure they will have influence. but it will also deter many experienced users
Even though LG is not one of my favourite brands I'm seriously considering of getting the new LG Nexus, specs seem quite promising.
will it be as bulky as the rest of the nexus series ? that's a turn off.
I think lg is getting much better with lg optimus g. I hope the nexus will be as good as optimus g.
I read a article of the nexus 6 and hopefully there be more internal space http://nexus6o.com/

I highly doubt the Nexus 6 will have all of the features listed in the article. They sound like a smartphone fanatic's wet dream....
SOUNDS GREAT!
by LG still?
What about Nexus 8? Any news?
I post updates on specs
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
According to respected website,*International Business Times, the Nexus 6 is expected to be built by LG. The website also suggests that the Nexus 6 will be largely built on the designs of the 2014 LG flagship smartphone the*LG G3.
The websites also reports that the Nexus 6 will be based on the following specs:
•** *5.5-inch QHD display
•** *1440 x 2560 resolution (534ppi)
•** *Octa-core MediaTek processor
•** *64-bit processor
•** *Fingerprint scanner
•** *IP67-certified dust-proof and water-resistant device
For now, these specs are still largely rumours, however, they are all specs that Google would be hoping to achieve. A Nexus device with a 534 pixels per inch display, 64-bit processor and fingerprint scanner would be a very impressive smartphone indeed, especially if it retains the traditionally low and Google subsidised Nexus price tag. (And LG has a good track record of making Nexus phones.)
New Nexus 6 features: OS
As mentioned above, Google is expected to include a 64-bit processor and some sort of a fingerprint sensor on board the Nexus 6, to bring it inline with the*iPhone 5S*andSamsung Galaxy S5.
Other than that, we expect the other Nexus 6's key new features to be software based.
As ever, Google will reveal more information about its software and OS advances at it annual I/O conference, which is due to take place in June.
As yet, information about what Google will or will not bring to is latest update to its Android OS is thin on the ground. However has Google 4.4 KitKat was a pretty minor update to the OS, a lot of people are optimistic for a more significant advance in features, for when Android moves on to its 4.5 (Probably codenamed "Lion Bar" or "Lollipop") operating system.

Lets go here for this discussion...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846277
By fresh, I mean would you still buy it today or would you look for something more current?
My Verizon contract is up in about a month and I'm hankering to replace my Droid RAZR MAXX ASP. It no longer feels fresh. It's running an older Jelly Bean (4.1.2) and is quite the dog. Web pages load so slowly that the screen frequently turns off before the page displays. Moto/Verizon have decided not to upgrade it further though I suspect it might benefit from performance improvements in more recent versions. :-/
My usage is low, consisting of a less than 200MB data, about 100 minutes of voice and a handful of texts typical per month. (Data will go up the month we're on vacation when I'm away from normal WiFi hot spots.) Verizon has nothing for me (New contract would involve more money for less service. However the service levels are moot if I'm not even coming close to my limits.)
For reasons of performance and availability of upgrades I want to go with a Google Experience phone. Because of my usage patterns, I'm leaning toward a month by month provider such as Ting. (They resell Sprint voice/data and voice roams to Verizon at no additional charge.) The choice today is the Nexus 5. It' been out since November of last year and the next (and perhaps last) Nexus seems likely to be released November of this year. The Nexus 5 seems like it has decent specs with 2GB RAM and a quad core processor. (But I thought the same of the Droid RAZR with 1GB RAM and dual core processor.) I'm curious what folks who own and use the Nexus 5 think about its future longevity.
Another option I have is to buy a used phone to bridge the time between Verizon cutoff and availability of the Nexus 6. I could also sell the Nexus 5 when the Nexus 6 becomes available, I suppose.
The Nexus 5 is still a perfect good phone. The GPE Galaxy S5 might arguably be "fresher," but for the money, the Nexus 5 is hard to beat.
Of course, you could stick with Verizon on month-to-month until the Nexus 6 (or whatever they call it) comes out, but if you're looking to jump today, the Nexus 5 is still a great device.

Thanks for the tip on the GPe S5. It seems to be rumored but not yet announced. The GPe S4 is $650 =8-O I'm not convinced it is that much better than the Nexus 5. Ting does list the regular S5 for $597 but that includes Samsung's bloatware (some of which I'm sure I'd find useful) and updates at their discretion.
I might ask Verizon one more time about month by month options at contract expiration. I could also use my Droid X on BYO for the time being. Maybe I could find a Verizon MVNO who could use my RAZR MAXX.
For the price, nothing beats the nexus 5.
Unless you just run stock and gravity box say....then maybe the Moto x. Tho, you need one that the boot loader can be unlocked. On Verizon, that's the Dev edition.
Comparing to phones twice the price is apples to oranges. Tho the N5 does still stand up to those phones too.
Nexus5 is worth every flash and more...
Nexus ftw!!!

That looks like a great phone, but it's not available to me. Sprint does not allow Ting to use new phones so it might be available about a year following release. Second, I really wanted to try a Google Experience phone this time (vs. one with carrier additions and lock in.) There is the possibility that this will be the basis for the next Nexus and if so, I might regret not having waited.
I've had my Nexus 5 for about a week now, so the question is moot. I suppose I could sell it and get the next Nexus when it comes out but I'm sure the N5 will drop in value at that point.
At the moment I'm half way between phones. My Droid RAZR MAXX is days away from being off contract. Battery life is still good but it is still dog slow. The N5 is amazingly fast, highlighting the difference. And I should get the next version of Kit Kat any minute now.
I was browsing the interwebs and found these images:

Oooh. I don't know but it looks legit. Though has some errors.
Like a Xperia device with an HTC look?
And it wouldn't be called nexus 4 like you said in the title.
I agree its a head scratcher... Id buy one though ?

Sorry to correct you but the new nexus device could very well be call the nexus 4 2015 but it would more than likely not be made by Sony it would be by Motorola again because each company that google goes with it seems that they let that company make 2 phones then they move on as for it being called the nexus 4 2015 there has been a lot of talk that it will be called the nexus 4 2015 and or the nexus 5 2015 just like the 2 nexus 7s also it would not be coming out until 2016 but that's my though on the date but it could come out this year though not until October or later

Nah i think googles endgame is to cycle through as many quality OEMs as possible, ingraining android and also forcing the companies to perform under its own quality standards. Each company thats made a google device has subsequently reached new heights. Asus and LG are making excellent stuff nowadays. I own a TF701 and its the best 10 inch tablet in existence for me.

Never disagreed that ONE day they may have Sony make it but just not this time around
Prolly not now no...
Well now owning a Pixel i see no reason to stick with Motorola or any other manufacturer. I mean Samsung does make Pixel Parts so I have to try to like Samsung as i don't Like Samsung due to they Lock down the BOOTLOADER on all US models (U).
Pixel devices they can't.
I have three major reasons why Pixel is the way to go.
1.UPDATES.
I've already had three updates and a software update in less than 2 months.
Motorola nor a dev can keep up with timely updates like a Billion dollar company like Google.
2.Security.
Monthly but not on time every month Security patches. ill take a security patch once a month rather than every 6 months like Motorola and others..
3.Pixel Exclusive perks.
I love the now playing feature, hold for me,
text to speech, translator,AOD customizable on (A14), spacial audio, live transcribe, voice assistance, so many more.
Motorola stock features don't come close nor does CUSTOM ROMS to Pixels overall PURE android experience.
Conclusion I'm running beta 3 Android 14 with hardly no bugs and two months away the final release will be available.
Lets see if Motorola can one day give us want we really want. Google listens to the consumers I've noticed..
Im daily driving Android 14 and it feels good to be first rather than last...
Ill miss ya MOTO!!

Yeah, I'll pass. Considering I debloat everything Google from my phone the last thing I would want to do is have one of their phones. I've already Jailbroken my Iphone if I get tired of my Moto. Google can kiss my ass - that sneaking the Covid app bull**** they did during the Pandemic (and keep in mind my bootloader was unlocked, all updates disabled, and I had full control over the system files via root and modding without Magisk) was dirty and if they can do that they can sneak ANYTHING onto a phone. No thank you.
I'll take my chances with Moto until no phone can be bootloader unlocked. Just gave up my Moto 5g Ace (which I love) to move to Moto 5G Stylus (against my will) because my mainsteady is old and ready to lay it down.
I'm good but I will miss you. I hope to never have to lower myself to these locked down newer Androids that are harder to manipulate.
Already on June Security Patch.. Trust in no one but pick the less of two evils...
