PhilZ Touch is a CWM Advanced Edition that adds all the features you could ever miss in CWM
It is a well proven recovery for many phones
It also adds a full touch interface a completely configurable GUI
Please give your feedback, what works, and any bug you could encounter
Read the features, and check if you are missing something
To take a screen shot, just long press outside a menu (2 sec and slightly change pressure after the delay)
Also, do not forget to read about the powerful aroma file manager integration and double tap shortcut
Flashing instructions:
fastboot -i 0x1949 flash recovery <recovery filename>
Huge credits to @Hashcode for his device tree and work on cwm

I haven't tested the 7" version, but the 8.9" device has issues building CWM (and PhilzTouch apparently). The device comes up in recovery but with a blank screen.
I'm debugging CWM builds now.

I seem to be having trouble flashing. @Hashcode, my device isn't showing up when in fastboot. and I get "waiting for device" when trying to execute "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" or even "fastboot devices":

I think so.. I used Flashify from the Play Store. Just make sure you press recovery image, not boot.
Not to be negative, but for the time being, are there any inherent benefits to flashing this over TWRP 2.7.0.0? Also, would I just flash this like any normal zip, like the main thread stated, or are there any of the device specific instructions it mentioned?

Team Win Recovery Project 2.2, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. It’s a fully touch driven user interface – no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash.
The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

BUGS:
Since this is not an official release, bugs are to be expected. That said, after some extensive testing I did not discover any bugs, but you are free to report anything you find.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Currently due to some restrictions in the source code, this build of the recovery can mount the sd-ext partition ONLY if it is formatted as ext4. Other filesystems (such as ext3) are currently unsupported.
This will be fixed in future versions. --- FIXED

Does this recovery use any of the networking features of the CyanogenMod kernel? I've reduced the size of recovery.img from 3.5 to 2.9 MB by disabling many of the networking features in the kernel and using LZMA for the ramdisk compression. For the kernel features, I have used 90 % of the 4ext Touchcovery kernel configuration. Does this recovery know to align the partitions when creating them?
THis look awesome
Thankx
Has anyone found any themes for this recovery for our Desire's resolution? Doesn't appear to be much around.

You reduced the size of TWRP or the stock CWM recovery? I don't see why the recovery needs to be any smaller, since that doesn't make any difference to the end user.

Here are two themes that are compatible:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/25762-480x800-21-icscyan-system-style-theme/
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23782-480x80021-ice-cream-sandwich/
There are many other themes as well but they do not support 480x800 so they need some tinkering. I'll look into it when I have some free time.

That's true, but it does matter to the developers since it might allow adding more features. The recovery partition is limited in size after all!

From that perspective yes you are right. From what I understand a this moment future versions are most likely going to be bugfixes. So space isn't going to be a problem in the near future. However what you did was very clever. Did you use lzma for compression?

Actually for me USB Storage or the resolution isn't that important in Recovery.. If you can please make one for ST10 even if it has such bugs...It would help me(the community in turn) a lot while testing the mods Fuser is sending me to test...:good:

Hello . Thanks for all your work. I have installed TWRP , taken backup and now I am at peasce.
As a sidenote I was looking forward to improved touch response in ST8. But after installing TWRP I am finding that the touch response in the recovery is also similar. This tells me that touch performance may not be a issue with the ROM. Maybe the hardware can do only so much

Ozadroid thanks for the awesome work. But are you working on porting the latest version of TWRP ?
As the thread title say we are currently using TWRP 2.4.1.0 and i the latest version is TWRP 2.4.3.0.
Or is there some issue with the latest version on our ST8 or ST10?
Just asking out of curiosity buddy. I am satisfied with this one too.

Any luck getting this bootable from a uImage_recovery on the SD card instead of only being able to replace the partition? If you can get it bootable by placing it on the SD card then I can probably put together a package for people to unbrick their tablets by ADB.

Any confirmation that this works? Would really help the dev. If doesn't boot and bootloops instead let it bootloop a few times and boot into recovery and enter these commands
"adb pull /proc/last_kmsg"
And post it so the dev can read the kernel log

Where are you stuck? in Boot Logo?, if you dont speak english try to use google translater and explain your problem.
Try to turn off your device and later press Volume - and Power it suppose to get you into BootLoader, after that you can reboot into recovery and flash another ROM or your Backup, I hope you did one.
Luck!

I don't own a v700 tablet, but I'm really really happy to see development on this section! The GPad series is so good and we need more and more developers working on them! Yeaaa! ???

Do you happen to have the KitKat kdz for the g pad 10.1? If so, can you upload it?
Do you need root to flash the img.
Yes to flash using the linked tool you do need root. If you use the recovery method then no root isn't needed.

It seems you copy-pasted from my thread here, but didn't realize you are not providing a flashable zip... You also copied some of my commits without keeping the authorship, I already pointed that out in your repo. Please @Dark-Nightmare, try to do things the right way...
Now where is cm11 or cm12.1? Haha
Wasnt able yet to test it but great anyway
Will this work on the Verizon (e9lte) LG G-Pad 10.1 LTE ? I finally found a way to root this thing.. And I don't know where to get any stock firmware imgs so I don't wanna risk bricking this thing.. Oh I'm on 5.0.2 btw

I agree. Wish myself or someone else would/could build cm12 for thus bad boy. I'm super happy someone finally built twrp for our tablet but I just can't see going back to kitkat without being able to flash a rom. I really didn't like LG kitkat on my V700. I love lollipop but I can't use this on lollipop.

Thats for v400 bro.
Has anyone successfully installed this recovery on their v700? I tried every way possible and even with 2 different apps with no success. I am on lollipop though. Do you have to downgrade to get this working? If so can you downgrade, install tarp then go back to lollipop?

You have to be on kitkat and no you cannot retain custom recovery and upgrade. I tried the recovery on kikat out and it works great but until someone figure out how to make our lollipop rom flashable on kitkat it wont be possible. Or if someone builds CM 12.1 or something. Apparently noone with our device can or is willing to. I would but I wouldn't even know where to start.

There is a way to use the kitkat aboot with the lollipop rom and resourses but I don't know how. That's how I got recovery on my G3. Someone made an app to install recovery while on lollipop by downgrading just the aboot to kitkat.

I'm Taiwanese, so there is no problem with me in Chinese, but my english is not good.
I will ask the author to agree to my reprint to XDA, "bbs.gfan.com" is China's largest Android forum.

You can convince the developer to share her work in here. Why you share your works only in "bbs.gfan.com" ?, xda is much more international

Hi,
I wanted to ask, if your recovery is also for the z5p dual (E6833)?
I flashed the recovery, but when I reboot to recovery, the screen stays black.
I can confirm, that device is in recovery, because adb tells me so. But I can't sideload anything, I guess I need to enable it before being able to do.
I could install this using
fastboot flash boot Z5PTWRP.img (Obviously i changed the name of the img like that) i hope this helps someone
