[Q]Install large app to external sd card - General Questions and Answers

So I just got a Galaxy Trend Plus and manage to get it root and install cwm. Now I want to install several large game like Gangstar or NFS. The problem is currently I only have 313 mb in my internal storage but I also got a 8 gb external SD card. I know that game like Gangstar only got apk about 20-30 mb but it data is over 1gb. So my question is is there a way to install the data directly into the extSD not the intSd or atleast least link the game with the data that I put in the extSD?? I already tried link2sd but it's no good and Foldermount I must have the data in the internal sd before mount it to the extSD.

Try int2ext.
First partition your sd card with a fat32 and a desirable size ext2, 3 or 4 partition.
This works best with newly flashed devices.
1. Backup your present ROM just incase
1. Wipe data/ factory reset
2. Wipe cache partition
3. Wipe dalvik cache (under advanced)
4. Format /system (under mount)
5. Flash your desired Rom/zips
6. Flash int2ext
7. Reboot

apps2sd+ vs Titanium

I have created a 512MB ext3 partition on my SD-card and the rest of the 16GB is FAT32. Then I installed CM6.0, google apps and radio images on my Nexus One (after wiping caches and performing a factory reset in Clockwork). Finally I installed the Darktremor Apps2SD 2.7.5.2 also using Clockwork. When installing new apps I can see, using Quick System Info app, that the ext3 partition is working and that apps really are installed there. I can also see that the Internal memory free space is decreasing but as I understand it is because the Dalvik cache is placed there. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Now to my question. Is there a difference in how much space I save on the Internal memory using this method instead of manually move apps with Titanium Backup?
I know that I with the Darktremor script also can move Dalvik cache to the SD card but as I only have a class 2 SD card I notice that the performance is lowered a bit.

flashed rom and folders of old app not installed found how to remove?

flashed fryrom version 7 in galaxy tab2 p-5100 and work perfect but i found traces and folders of old apps not installed in internal sd card how to remove safely i want to begin clean or in other words how to format internal sd card safely to begin clean ?
I believe you can format in Settings. Or ClockworkMod.
no option in setting and how to format in cwm
no option to format the internal memory in setting and how to flash internal memory in cwm version 5
I believe it is "wipe /emmc", but I would wait for confirmation on this.

There are many threads about this subject, but i will explain. As you know our phone has a low internal memory problem and you can't install so many apps. You see every user app and data is stored in /data folder in internal memory. So developers found a trick to increase the internal memory. When you partitioned your sd card there will be a similar folder /data and it is linked with the internal memory /data all the data from there to the /data folder on sd card. Now the phone thinks that this folder is actually the internal memory and sends all the apps to the sd-ext.This is Data2SD. But the /data folder contains many folders...for app (/data/app) and for dalvik cache(/data/data) and with HYBRID DATA2SD you can choose which folder will go on sd-ext .It is recommended to only transfer /data/app on sd-ext because transfering the dalvik cache could slow down your phone.Hope that helped.Cheers

I will try to explain in simple lang....
On android OS, users applications and data is stored in /data folder (partition) in internal memory. Since g3 have less memory, it has restrictions on how many apps you can install and blah blah...
So out greate developers do a trick to increase internal memory.
When we have partitioned SD card, there in new partition, they create a similar folder stucture of /data. and link internal memorys /data to point to sd card data folder. This link is similar to a shortcut. Android OS thinks that the /data folder is there in internal memory and it reads and writes to it but actually that data goes to sd-ext partition and thus the size of internal memory dose not increases as you install apps. This is Data2SD
/data has many folder...majorly for app (/data/app) and for dalvic cache (/data/data). If you are not mounting entire /data to sd-ext, but selectively mapping each folder you want to sd-ext, then this is called HybridData2SD. For ex, I prefer app dir (/data/app) to be mounted on sd-ext but not the cache (/data/data). Cache should be on phone as its accessed so much and makes my phone lag If i put it on sd-ext.
hope this clears the concept.

My Phone is a Nexus S with CM-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-crespo. + CWM Recovery.
Today i have tried to partition my internal sd card, (the nexus s have only the internal sd Card), because i wanted to install the Link2SD app which need a ext4 partition to link the programfiles.
What i Did:
1. Connet the Phone via USB to Computer
2. Mount sd Card
3. Run Minitool Partition Wizard on Windows
4. Delete the Partition on the SD Card
5. Create a Partition, 13GB, Primary, FAT32 for media files
6. Create a Partition 1 GB, Primary ext4, for the programfiles.
7. Restarted the Phone
The Phone is still working, but i dont see the SD Card anymore on my Andorid device. I have also tried to Mount the sd card in the CWM. I tried to do a factory reset and checked the box "format sd card)
Did not work
Can you please help me? How could i restore the lost party of my internal sd card?
Thanks,

You have put your self in a major mess. You should have partitioned the SD card using CWM. Now you can try to partition SD card using CWM just forget the 1Gb partion that you lost.

How do I wipe my USB storage?

Hi.
How do I fully wipe my internel sd card using CWM? And what do I wipe sdcard0 or storage/sdcard0? I want all my space back.
When I went to wipe storage/sdcard0 It gave my the option of five different file systems to use (default, vfat, exfat,ntfs,ext4,ext3 or ext2?). Which one do I use?
Cheers.
