I remember reading that the Gear 2 was compatible with .22mm watch bands.
I was wondering if anyone has tried replacing the straps?

Is that a 22mm band? It looks smaller, like maybe a 20mm.

I would assume that means it's 18mm, so will work in anything above 18mm. Thank you for the reply. The reason I asked, it appears there is a tiny gap on either side of the band where it connects to the watch. I am going to order a 22mm band, but I have to find one I like. I do like the stock band, but wish it had one more hole on the strap. It fits just a little too snug for my liking.

Thank you. That confirms my assumption. The band itself is 18mm, but there is an adjustable shim or something inside the band to keep it from sliding back and forth.
The effect though makes it appear that there is a gap on both sides of the watch band. A standard 22mm band should not have that small gap.
Thank you greatly for the photo.

nice strap!
looks like 22mm is the way to go then.
looks good to me!
All the 22mm watchbands I was using w/ my Pebble work with the Neo. Problem being, the NATO straps cover up the heart rate monitor and make it hard to charge without loosening the strap. I just got the 2 piece 22mm version of those straps and they work great. Do yourself a favor and pick up the pin remover tool to make switching bands fast and easy.

Has anyone had a chance to try out a underwater case for their s4 yet? I cannot seem to find a solid case.
I am looking for something similar to this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Water...811?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item3cd39548b3
but that is some oem case that has not been tested so don't want to risk it...
any other suggestions out there?

That one on eBay looks beautiful, do you think the back is plastic ? that panel on it...
I want to make my phone completely safe from any damage, as far as possible anyway, shock, water (just like a light rain or shower, would not trust the ebay one with submersion), and im a person that tends to break charge ports a lot so wireless charging is important to me... damnit Obex release already xD
I just want the underwater case to take pictures when I go in the water, im not worried about my device getting damaged and I don't really want the S4 active as the camera on it is only 8mp and lacks in root development.

If you change the volume button to camera key in the camera settings you would be able to take pictures underwater with any case. You would just press tge volume button while in the camera app to take a pic.

so is there a case for our S4's that can be used underwater?
Well I was about to suggest Lifeproof, but:
1) they don't make a S4 yet.
2) they recently got bought by Otterbox in May, so
3) there will be a delay in development while Otterbox cleans house, consolidates, lays off all the marketing/sales/admin staff and maybe even the R&D folks...
4) then Otterbox will announce a "new addition" to their ARMOR line...

There aren't too many options. Check out store.androidcommunity.com/krusell-sealabox-waterproof-case/4A104A13551.htm but its not specifically s4, so fit might be a bit loose. There are a few more in development, specifically for the s4 so that should help.

I thought they said they were not making an S4 case. That's cool. I gotta decide between Seidio, bFree, and LifeProof now I guess. I put my S4 in my dad's otterbox armor and it fit haha but it was snug. Seems like making one for the S4 should be a lot like the S3

I actually had that issue with the Obex. I ordered some small monster extenders for $4 I think from Amazon. They were a good purchase, I keep them attached to all my aux cords so that I can just plug that in. Adds about 3 inches to the cord. This bFree looks sweet too, but it's only good for 3 feet 30 minutes like the active.

There's one in every thread that does this. I mean I understand it works, but does the joke not get old? If we wanted to use ziplog baggies why even have the thread. Everyone should know by now that a ziploc will work for the most part. They're too big for the phone, they can rip, and you might not seal it perfectly once, the last 2 end badly for the phone and user.

Thanks!

Hey. Don't have any spare links but I thought it should be relatively easy to get a replacement band. Sony advertises different straps on their website, but you might also be able to find some aftermarket options. http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/smartwatch-2-sw2/features/#black

Has anyone tried them out? I just purchased a brown one for under $10. I figure it's worth a try for that price point. Much easier to stomach than the outrageous $49 Samsung wants. I guess the biggest concern is whether it'll make my wrist breakout.
I just received a blue one from ebay. Little difficult to clip in, but seems secure once attached. Band is a bit more flimsy than samsung bands. Clasp is shiny instead of a matte. I'm also concerned about what it will do to my wrist. So, I guess we will see.

Yes 20mm. Regular thickness will do. Thicker is fine too, but if it's too thick it may not fit right with the strap as those heavy-duty bars are usually for big clunky watches.

Hi Joel.
Where did you get that modified strap for your s2? I've been looking for strap mods so I can get away from the plastic one supplied with the watch.
Cheers

Couldn't decide between the red and the Navy blue. Thanks for these pics, thunk I'll go for the blue!
So the classic bands work with the Gear S2?

Not impressed with this strap. Looked lighter on samsungs website. But can't complain much as I got with the promotion they had for using samsung pay.

Yea, they don't go well together. Would've been better with the silver housing.

Can you post a pic of you watch with the strap on the left? I'm very interested in that one and am curious to know how it looks. Not too fond of the mesh one personally, but that's still better than the stock strap IMO.
So the pic with the GEAR S2 non classic with the metal band, it looks like he modified an extension or bought one that allows a typical 20mm band attachment. If you look closely, you will see the pins sticking out on the first knuckle. Interesting... is this homebrew?
Obviously the author isn't sharing...

What modification did you have to do?
I bought an Original Hoco brand from Alie-Express.com. Normally this band cost like 99 euro here in Europe. I got it for like 30 dollars. Looks and feels verry great!
