Stables Roms - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i'm trying to find an answer with search bar, but definitively i can't find a good answer.
What roms are stables?
I've found only slimkat 4.0 stable and Cyanogenmod 11 M4 (both give my different problem with my usb keyboard, others roms doesn't but there are others problems), there are others stables roms to run with elementalx stable version?
I'm looking for something customizable at the same time have a stable version, possibly with OTA like cyanogen or beanstalk, .
Can someone Help?
Sorry for bad english

You should certainly try out AICP...
Btw, all roms are stable enough to use as a daily driver.. It's upto you to decide what is stable enough for you.

If you are on stock rom you can just install xposed framework with gravitybox to get all of your customization.
If you insist on a custom ROM rastakat or purity are probably the closest to aosp stability.
Stock + gravitybox is probably the best bet...

Here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...t/rom-aicp-3-5-kk-4-4-2r2-hammerhead-t2632552

OP, stable is up to the individual User. There are some ROMs that are stable for others that are not for some....best bet, and I know you are going to say, I don't have time....hence probably why this thread is here, but you should just read, pick a ROM test it & run it....With so many variables involved, what is stable for me, might not be for you, since we have different needs, apps and usage....Thanks & Thread Closed.

Who likes Stock CM Mod Better than Stock?

So I`m thinking of making the change over to CM Mod nightlys.
So I have just been running stock 4.4.2 with xposed.
Thinking about just using CM mod nightlys (I read that the nightlys are sometimes more stable than the snapshots)
And things seem nice and quick just playing around but I need something That wont give to many problems How has CM been lately? Also how is OTA updates? are they reliable enough to not have to keep wiping each time theres an update?
Thanks
Also Does Xposed Modules work on CM roms?
And is there a recommended kernel besides using the stock CM One?
There are alot of great roms... Alot better than cm.

Just try it for a while, at the end of the day its just about preference. The CM rom itself is rockstable and the stock kernel performs very well and offers good batterylife.

What this guy said but to add, keep an open mind there are a lot of good ROM's out there. Purity and Mahdi come to mind. On my n4 I used carbon and couldn't wait to flash the next nightly but I got away from that.
I recommend Chaos Kernel since they went CAF or Elemental X has CAF version

Roms with no more Updates

Hey there, I've been flashing lot of stuff lately, my favourite rom is Slimkat, but I also like Cataclysm ROM!
My question is, apart from Cataclysm ROM are there any roms with no more updates out there? I would like to try them all and stick with one for a long time ^^
My options are: Stock, Cataclysm Rom..
any suggestions¿?
I would like to keep editing this thread with the help of all of you and make a No Updates Rom's out there!
Thank you

You could try froyo
Open a Rom Thread , Check the Date + the last postings in the Thread and you got the answer. Most not update Rom Threads are after a few days on page 2/3/4 or where ever

You could try out Rastakat. There are updates every so often, but not to the point where you'll be flashing something every week.
Of course Slimkat updates stable once a month so it's not that frequent. And they are stable so you only update if you want try the new features

Froyo was nice but I'm a huge Gingerbread fan. It was like Froyo on steroids- faster, smoother, better battery life. My gingerbread GSII is still one of my all time favorite devices.

[Q] Custom ROM

So... I'm planning to switch to Nexus 5 because my current phone (xperia zl) is lost...
Can you guys suggest me a good custom rom? I mean lag-free (no lag when you pull down the notification drawer), and stable ?
Thanks a lot, sorry if i'm asking such as unimportant question, i'm new in here
Since AOSP is built for Nexus range, they're all about as lag free as each other and all pretty stable.
Just look for the features you want and try the roms...

But i've read on some website said that PA, Carbon, and Mahdi is laging.. .Is that true?
If they are, its users poor setup or certain apps. ?
Stock is noticeably faster than pacman cm based ROM no matter what my settings were.
Going to try a couple more aosp based Roms like rastakat for the missing features from stock.
Will definitely be sticking to aosp Roms now though and not bother with any cm based.

Also pa was definitely faster than pacman but since I didn't run it back to back against stock ROM I can't say if it was slower or faster.

its written on cm site too that people find cm more stable than other roms. may i know the reason for your opinion?

Cm has always been a battery drain for me since cm6. Its never been more stable than anything else. Maybe their final versions are as stable as everything else, but all their nightlies and everything else released between the final versions always seem to introduce bugs. And they always change stuff that doesn't need changing.
I will never use cm again. Simply awful.

read the xda threads on xda in general, q&a. many many times its cm thats unstable. besides, i spent years on cm, i know what it can be like. anyways, for the nexus 5, there are many roms that id consider more stable than cm.
First time trying a cm based ROM on my n5 and first time I have stability issues. Had to hard reboot cause it wouldn't wake up at all.

I'm not for sure either.great work on all though.I'm leaning toward the dcz rom cause from my understanding its fast, smooth and I like stock style roms.

Well do you want stock ROM with overclock kernel(DCZ) vs the beauty and customization of cyanogenmod?
All dcz rom is a almost fully debloated stock ROM and custom kernel made by team adrv.

If the stock rom did not have such lag I'd suggest the majority stick with it unless you had a specific reason not to. Since it DOES have lag, I'd suggest the i806/DCZ rom since it is a version of stock that should eliminate the lag and work fully with the hardware. All the other rom's have issues of one type or another.
Resurrection Remix still has several things wrong..the camera off the top of my head. CM12.1 still has issues. Currently the cm12.1 dev does not have the device in hand...neither does the resurrection remix dev....working on rom's without the device is similar to driving blindfolded. You are guaranteed to get SOMEWHERE but it may not be where you want to be.
There are only 3 real roms available other than original stock and I HIGHLY recommend you backup your stock with twrp so you can go back to it for system updates. Why are the system updates so important if you are on another rom? They are the only way you can get modem driver mods/improvements among other things.
I'm not sure which I'd prefer at the moment. Guess I'll just read lol
Sent from my 6045O using Tapatalk
Cm 12.1 (10/29) is most stable on my idol 3 (6045i). Resurrection Remix is not stable. Random reboots, lag and speakers and cam don't work.

Thanks for the tips. I do like performance and stability over anything. So I'll check out DCZ. I've already backed up stock.

Cataclysm Rom orphans thread

Since development on Cataclysm Rom has stopped I was wondering which roms Cataclysm Rom orphans are switching to ? I cant decide between Chroma and PureNexus
Chroma is great Pure NExus is also good. Give them both a go and pick one. I stuck with Chroma for a couple days and it was solid.
Maybe Atl4ntis will post his mod in some other way, when new source is out...
why you need to switch it now ?!
i have strong belief that Atl4ntis will come up with new mod when new factory image will arrive...he won't punish tons of loyal users just because of few morons ! :fingers-crossed:
so just have faith and wait ( if you don't have any other reason to switch the rom ,i personally don't find any reason to ditch cataclysm as of now )
what happened? Can you link me to the post, please?
I use the latest PureNexus ROM with ElementalX kernel. Very smooth and functional Android Experience. Battery is also not bad with about 5h Screen-On Time. (2G, WiFi, Messenger, Tapatalk, Feedly, Spotify)

It's on atl4ntis's android file host directory.
It's a shame that on xda, developers gets so frustrated by the community to leave it every month. I would lock the thread as read only and just post links, to report bug there could be just a thread in general section

Well, cataclysm is most stable rom around.
CM nightlies are not really stable (nobody expects so), and other ROMs which are mashups of all commits "dev" managed to merge can't be stable.
does someone have tried to flash catalysm 5.jan mod to stock MMB29Q?
Such a shame Cataclysm has disappeared. I enjoyed using it when I tried it last year. Well, I'm on stock unrooted as always these days. I like custom ROMs and the idea behind it, but seamless updates and mostly stability sway me in the direction of stock.

I too am a Cataclysm orphan. I came across this thread, and am surprised I didn't see a link to the thread linked below. It is a great initiative by @magnamentis and @ben_pyett to create a support thread for users who want to keep using Cataclysm and help each other.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/info-cataclysm-mod-dead-t3307703
CataclysmMOD can indeed be flashed over Google's February Stock images, and possible later monthly Google Stock images as well.
It is quite remarkable that a ROM with such a rich feature set and so many customizations, no to mention rock solid stability, has been reduced to such a tiny mod (just 13 files plus the kernel) which can be flashed over stock images!
