Is it usb 3.0 cable?

USB 3.0 has no affect on charging in anyway, it's for data only.

I get that with the S5 and note 3 power supply, if you use a non samsung power supply you won't get the same figure, apparently the 5.3V does affect it's current.

Could you run a test using the Samsung S4 and like a HTC OEM cable? I use all the above and am just wondering how much of a difference it makes? I never use the cheap chinese BS cables from Amazon/eBay.

I'd like to hear about this too if possible. I use an old HTC One charger for my phones.

Then, why does it seem to charge faster when plugged into the wall with the USB 3.0 cable than the 2.0 s4 cable?

USB cables are not made equally, different quality and material will give you different results.

I guess that the other pins are for audio and other stuff
Try it!
Any Standard Mini USB works
Thanks for sharing but I think we all knew that one already.
And we should call you Amerigo Vespucci, but I`d be happier if I could name you Google or Search sorry
i hardly ever use the HTC cable with any of my HTC phones... to start with , my HTC USB cable is in the mains charger!
Give the guy a break. I remember when I first tried my charger and USB cable that I had with a previous HTC phone and found out it worked. I plugged it in to my Diamond VERY gingerly and winced, hoping not to fry my phone. Hallalujah! I remembered saying to myself. Now I don't have to buy another charger or cable!
I just had that HALLELUJAH moment myself! Thanks

I'm nominating you for funniest avatar awards! At least we'll all be able to take you seriously.
But in regards to your comment, yeah as long as the voltage is the same you're generally pretty safe. The ampage rating don't tend to mean that much as the device will only draw what it needs (in the case that your charger is rated at 1000mAH but your device draws less than that). In the case your charger can't provide enough ampage then I believe the charging process simply takes longer that it would with the 'correct' charger.
If the voltage is different then you can cause serious damage to your device and who knows you could theoretically start a fire.
Rejoice! I've been *****ing all morning about me forgetting the cable at work, and now for the weekend it's low on power. I've been browsing sites trying to figure out what cable i needed to order and i came up short - except for ordering an original which wasn't in stock.
Consider this a 'thanks' and a bump

[Q] Micro-USB

Can I use any micro-usb cable with my phone? Because I've tried two 10ft just generic cables, and with each cable I get the same results - Device not recognized/Device has malfunctioned.
I think the cable that ships with the Charge contains an extra pin, hence the reason why generic cables do not work.
A 10' USB cable could quite possibly be to long to work properly with the phone. Try something shorter, 3ft or 6ft at the most.

I've used a bunch of different ones, including USB versions as opposed to wall. They all work. It might be a defective cable or, as another post alluded to, too long.

I use a 10 foot cable to charge my phone every day. It is from mycablemart.com and I also have a 6 foot from there that I use at work.

Make sure to get a USB type A to micro type B 5 pin cable if you get one.

Another option that I use for charging is a USB extention cable. This way you can get the extra cable length to your outlet with the nice snug fit of the stock connector in the phone.

Is 15v --- 3.5a charger ok to charge Asus tf300?

Hi, recently my Asus charger stopped working & unfortunately can't find any of these being sold here in my country, my data cabel is working fine so I was wondering if I can use a laptop charger that has a female usb slot with output of 15v-----3.5a to charge my tab, the original charger had 15v----1.2a.
Any help provided will be welcome.

The only drawback is that the stock charging brick would provide 2 grounds to the cable and then magically the tablet end would have to provide
4 grounds to the table both [usb grounds] and the ground switch and the body of the charger.... Thus the reason it will not charge from a PC.... I would say if it charges it go for the gold... Maybe just dont leave it on for an extended period of time... Hope that helps... Thx lj

I am worried that it might burn the tab, so would appreciate more details regarding what happens with a higher Ampare.

I hear you... I am not electrical genus but on something as sensitive as the electronics are I would stay away from it... I mean worst cast scenario
The battery could melt or even exploit....Ive seen it happen.... It was a car battery but It took off like a rocket...
Thanks for your replies, although some more specific replies regarding chargers voltage and ampares will be more helpfull, I see some 3.1a dual usb chargers being sold over eBay so, still want to know that what difference will higher ampare make to charging and the device it charges.

Well, the voltage should match, but I think amperes are a max. value, so it should not be smaller than that of the original adaptor. But then - I am a software guy and happy to stand corrected.

Charging the OnePlus One

i got a oneplus and am wondering if its okay to use a 3rd party charger. i got the anker 40w 5 port charger and would like to know if that charger would be safe to use with the oneplus one. or should i stick with using the original charger? thanks
You can use any charger. But if the output is any less than 2.1Ah you'll charge quite slowly. You also need to use the original cable or a cable with a 24AWG or better rating.

Woah, good to know... I use the OEM charger/cable for the main, overnight charges.
Otherwise the other ones I have kicking around are:
3ft and 10ft - USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male 28/24AWG Cable w/ Ferrite Core (Gold Plated)
6ft - USB 2.0 A Male to Micro 5pin Male Premium (Gold Plated) - not as heavy gauge as the above
So if I use my the cables mentioned above is it an issue? Or would I just expect slow charging? I use those for PC connectivity and charging at work.
Anything less than 24AWG will result in at least slow charging, and in some cases it won't charge fully.

I just use my old HTC charger/cable and it charges fine

At the same speed as with the OEM charger? It's impossible.

I didn't say at the same speed, just that it charges fine
It went from zero to full in about 2 hours from memory the other day, maybe a bit longer I can't remember
Gonna buy the kopi cable recommended in the other thread. The OEM cable is too short for my use. I do have this long generic cable I bought off eBay and it seems to charge fast. Maybe 1% per min.

New TurboPower 25 watt Power Adapter

Hi guys, i am very curious about the new turbopower 25 adapter, It is 25 watt adapter, as far as i know, the quick charge 2.0 is just 18W max right now, so how does moto count the 25watt? is it 5V/5A?
Does anyone receive the Moto X Pure? Could you please post a photo for the Turbopower 25 charger?
thanks

I talk with MOTO online chat, they said the MOTO X Pure still come with Turbopower 15, there is no Turbopower 25, i am so sorry to hear this.
Motochat has made several wrong statements, so they're not a good source. I don't know which one will be included.

Damn cool!
As far as i know, there is no quick charger in the market which support those output:
5V 2.85A;
9V 2.85A
12V 2.15A
The quick charge 2.0 standard right now is
5V/2A
9V/2A
12V/1.5A
So You still can use the current quick chargers, but it won't be as fast as the Turbopower 25.
interesting.
Eric
Has anyone done a charging time test yet?
And how is the turbo 1 and 2? What is that?
