3g/4G OVERRIDING WIFI?

Just suddenly yesterday my data connection started completely overridijg my wifi so that even with wifi on it still uses 3g/4g. Whats weird is that if no data is being used the cell radio seems to turn off and i only see the wifi icon. But when i try to use any internet related thing, wifi doesnt load anything, just stalls, then the cell radio turns back on and loads thru 4g. I know my wifi is working because it works if i turn on airplane mode before wifi it works. This is weird because ive had the g2x for 2 months and it just started happenning last night..
Also ive already deleted any myaccount related stuff.

I just started having this problem yesterday too. I thought I was the only one. I don't seem to be able to get anything via wifi.

I've been experiencing this from day one. It seems to fix itself quickly but I have to wonder how much data is being wasted on this.

You're right...mine did too...all day yesterday. Back to normal today. I even reset my AP to be sure....Just ask quick as it started, it stopped.

Yea so it stopped happenning for me around noon today. Thats weird. It seemed to hit last night and now its completely back to normal. Im confused as to what caused this.

I run into this almost daily. I just toggle wifi to make it stop.

happened again to me right now. I switched my access point to N....and now, G or 4G is always on. I did switch wifi off and on....and even turned the phone off....wonder if a N band is too confining for the phone...and it needs 4g help....

After flashing cm7 I no longer have this issue

Rooting and freezing the Tmobile apps fixed it for me
After reading the last few posts on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044349&page=4&highlight=wifi+4g+tmobile+device), I tried the suggestion of freezing the Tmobile apps (Tmobile My Account, etc.), and it stopped this issue for me. I rooted and used AntTek App Manager to freeze these apps.

Having a real hard time withbswitching between wifi and 3g, anyone help? When I turn off wifi after a few hours of use, the mobile data wont come back without a reboot. I have tried cycling airplane mode, and it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Only way to get back is with a reboot.

does it happen regardless of where you are? my first charge had data issues, it would only grab carrier data 1 out of maybe 10 times i rebooted and/or turned wifi off, and when it did, it took hours. replacement device still has trouble reacquiring carrier data at my home, but it's fine everywhere else. fwiw, when i researched my issue, i saw tons of anecdotal reports of people having their sim replaced by vzw and not having any further data issues.

Thanks for the reply. It seems to happen regardless of location unfortunately. I am trying to use Llama or Y5 to control wifi but its not very effective when 3g wont come back on!

What have you done to your phone? what is your current setup? Maybe it's time for you to flash back to factory stock to see if the issue resolved and take it from there.

You don't happen to be using juice defender or something like that? When I used it, I was having all sorts of problems getting data to come back on. Ditched JD and all is well.

I use Tasker to switch between 4g and Wifi. I haven't experienced any issues even though I switch back and forth several times a day. Could your problem be a defective phone or the radio firmware? Personally I run a rooted Stock EP4D and have no complaints.

Connected to wifi but no internet acsess.

I am currently using CM7. I was previously using leedroid. One night my internet suddenly stopped working. I was conected but i couldnt use it. So i switched roms thinking that was the problem but no change. The wifi works fine on my moms laptop and my dads iphone, but not on my inspire. If i disconnect from wifi, then reconnect it will work for a couple of minnutes then suddenly stop working. Any ideas on what is wrong? It has been doing this for days and its really annoying. Thanks

Just curious. Even though other devices can sign on to router, have you tried resetting it. Sometimes they have an ip conflict and resetting refreshes the ip tables.

Yeah I would try resetting the router if you haven't already. I know I have had some connection issues before and it was caused by the router. My computer would work just fine, but my phone wouldn't connect.

Hey guys.. i reset my router, and it only worked for like 2 days then started doing it again.. now if i reset my router it doesnt do anything.. any more ideas?

The router is probably bad. I sell them at work and they go bad quite often.

I agree, they often fail. I use only linksys routers now and I still have to reset it every now and then.

Its not just at home.. its where ever i try to connect to wifi i realized recently. It is also a very new router

I'm having the same problem with mine. I'm running ARHD 6.3.3 never had the problem with Cyanogen. Is there anything I can do about the wicked not really connecting? I'm running Juice Defender, but I've been having this problem before I installed it.

I had same problem with cm7. Heres what I did - phone- wifi serttings, go to your router connection and press forget. Then I restarted phone, PC, router. Back to phone, wifi settings and re-entered router code, extra. Sounds odd but it worked for me

That happens a lot to me, too. I do believe it's the phone. My room is across the house from the WiFi modem, and my sister's is even further. Her phone catches the signal when mine doesn't. I would like to know the solution, too, if there is one.

Still not working. An app maybe?
I have tried everything.. nothing is working. Its not just at home its everywhere i go. Only thing i could think that would cause this is an app maybe? Is there an app that is known to stop the wifi from working? It has to be something like that. If its not i guess my phone just randomly broke.

So, I had this issue too. I bought and installed an new digitizer (again :/ ) but the tape/adhesive didn't get to me until 3 days after the digitizer. By time I got the tape/adhesive (I temporarily used electric tape on the 4 corners til then) I had gotten a ROM up and running. I took apart the phone, to put the tape/adhesive on the LCD (it was a replaced also) and on the digi. When I put the phone back together, the wifi would work, but no internet. I tried it with 3 different routers and the only fix was to reflash the ROM/a new ROM. This was like 3 days ago. Today I wanted to fiddle with the volume rocker to try and get my volume up working again.... well the same thing happened when I put the phone back together and booted up, wifi connects, but no internet, reflashing the ROM/a new ROM, fixed it. I think there's like something with the phone that 'detects' when it's taken apart, and like does something to the ROM. My Tapatalk accounts got logged out also. I did, both times, also try wiping caches to no avail. Also tried turning wifi off, forgetting the network, and then restarting.... to no avail. The ONLY fix for the wifi each time was to reflash the ROM Maybe someone else could try to recreate this, see if it's only me or not.

I finally found out how to fix it. It turns out I had wifi settings backed up from a diferent rom in titanium backup for some reason. I reverted back to my stock back up, cleared all my titanium backup stuff out, then re-flashed my rom. So thank you guys for all the help. Hope this helps you guys fix you problems.

messed up data

i messed up something on my sd card. im on liquid ics and everything was great. after updating the radio i went into the card to either rename or delete the PG051IMG so I could boot into recovery. I think what happened is that I deleted something similar to it in error. now I only get 1x no matter what rom I use from a backup. Am i screwed or can I fix this? everthing else is fine. I guess I got carried away messing with something that wasn't broken.

The fact that you get 1x has nothing to do with something on your ad card. Have you tried putting your phone in airplane mode and taking it out? Also if that doesnt work then maybe try going to back to your old radio. Radios are different for everyone and your results may not be the same as someone else's.

I've had the bolt since launch day and really enjoy it with liquid ics or gb.

Yea no problem. Data is still a little finicky with the liquid builds. They're still trying to nail down the ril so that data is more reliable.

I usually find myself able to get data back faster by going to the data usage tool and just turning mobile data off and back on since it can sometimes take a bit for my airplane mode to go on and off

Yea toggling data on and off will work sometimes. There are times where putting it into airplane mode or rebooting are the only solutions.

I also forgot to post that I have also had trouble getting stuck in 1x mode. I've had to go into LTE On/Off and change the setting back and forth there as well as switch the Network Mode under the Mobile network settings to force it into 3g. Only had that a couple of times, havent really had many problems lately.

Multiple FC, Crashes, and Freeze

So I purchased this N5 through TMobile on Wednesday and finally took it out the box yesterday and set it up. Now, I am on high speed wifi and whenever I try to watch youtube, it either freezes, force closes, or just stays on page showing loading.
With other apps/browser, it does the same thing. Either FC or keeps on loading. Is there a fix or should I get get a newer one from TMobile?

If you just got the device if take it back. It shouldn't be doing what it's doing. They'll probably tell you to do a factory reset which you could do to see if that fixes it.

I've done factory reset, tried custom rom; nothing worked. When I did custom rom, it worked last night, but this morning, the problems persists.
I got 4 N5s and the other 3 is working as it should, but this one is just a headache so far.

is this happening via wifi or via your mobile data connection?

Wifi and mobile data.
Funny thing is, I was over my brother's place last night (his phone is the one that's having issues), he connected his to wifi and I was on HSPA. I was able to connect and play videos on youtube while his hanged. Even when I connected to his wifi, mine would play almost immediately while his would hang/FC.
Both phones are N5, on same network, on same wifi, on same rom using same kernel.
