I am currently using CM7. I was previously using leedroid. One night my internet suddenly stopped working. I was conected but i couldnt use it. So i switched roms thinking that was the problem but no change. The wifi works fine on my moms laptop and my dads iphone, but not on my inspire. If i disconnect from wifi, then reconnect it will work for a couple of minnutes then suddenly stop working. Any ideas on what is wrong? It has been doing this for days and its really annoying. Thanks

Just curious. Even though other devices can sign on to router, have you tried resetting it. Sometimes they have an ip conflict and resetting refreshes the ip tables.
Yeah I would try resetting the router if you haven't already. I know I have had some connection issues before and it was caused by the router. My computer would work just fine, but my phone wouldn't connect.

The router is probably bad. I sell them at work and they go bad quite often.

I agree, they often fail. I use only linksys routers now and I still have to reset it every now and then.
Its not just at home.. its where ever i try to connect to wifi i realized recently. It is also a very new router
I'm having the same problem with mine. I'm running ARHD 6.3.3 never had the problem with Cyanogen. Is there anything I can do about the wicked not really connecting? I'm running Juice Defender, but I've been having this problem before I installed it.

I had same problem with cm7. Heres what I did - phone- wifi serttings, go to your router connection and press forget. Then I restarted phone, PC, router. Back to phone, wifi settings and re-entered router code, extra. Sounds odd but it worked for me

That happens a lot to me, too. I do believe it's the phone. My room is across the house from the WiFi modem, and my sister's is even further. Her phone catches the signal when mine doesn't. I would like to know the solution, too, if there is one.

Still not working. An app maybe?
I have tried everything.. nothing is working. Its not just at home its everywhere i go. Only thing i could think that would cause this is an app maybe? Is there an app that is known to stop the wifi from working? It has to be something like that. If its not i guess my phone just randomly broke.
So, I had this issue too. I bought and installed an new digitizer (again :/ ) but the tape/adhesive didn't get to me until 3 days after the digitizer. By time I got the tape/adhesive (I temporarily used electric tape on the 4 corners til then) I had gotten a ROM up and running. I took apart the phone, to put the tape/adhesive on the LCD (it was a replaced also) and on the digi. When I put the phone back together, the wifi would work, but no internet. I tried it with 3 different routers and the only fix was to reflash the ROM/a new ROM. This was like 3 days ago. Today I wanted to fiddle with the volume rocker to try and get my volume up working again.... well the same thing happened when I put the phone back together and booted up, wifi connects, but no internet, reflashing the ROM/a new ROM, fixed it. I think there's like something with the phone that 'detects' when it's taken apart, and like does something to the ROM. My Tapatalk accounts got logged out also. I did, both times, also try wiping caches to no avail. Also tried turning wifi off, forgetting the network, and then restarting.... to no avail. The ONLY fix for the wifi each time was to reflash the ROM Maybe someone else could try to recreate this, see if it's only me or not.
I finally found out how to fix it. It turns out I had wifi settings backed up from a diferent rom in titanium backup for some reason. I reverted back to my stock back up, cleared all my titanium backup stuff out, then re-flashed my rom. So thank you guys for all the help. Hope this helps you guys fix you problems.

My wifi on the samsung mesmerize is not working properly, 3G works just fine. I try and go online from my wifi connection it says server problem, if I go to my wifi settings it says it's connected. Help would be much appreciated, I have a very fast internet and would like to take advantage of it, especially considering my psu just blew on the pc! I have pulled 10 mbs on this phone using wifi before. Haven't installed a new app that would prevent anything with the wifi that I'm aware of, just wiped my phone the other day, saturday actually. Again any help would be great.

As far as I know, no one is having issues with Wi-fi on either 2.1 or 2.2
My wifi sometimes won't turn on and I have to reboot to fix it, try that?

Yea if that don't fix it try pulling the battery.
Although since the phone is telling you i'ts connected I'm now thinking this is probably app related...(which a reinstall or reflash may correct)
I also have wifi issues with my fascinate, running froyo. I turn wifi on, and it works until the phone sleeps. Then at some point (seem to be a different amount of time each time) I lose my connection to the net. It still says the wifi is connected (wifi symbol at the top). But if I attempt to use google talk, or pull up a web page I do not have access to the internet. If i turn wifi off, and then right back on, all is well (until the next time it sleeps).
There is an app called wifi keep alive. If i check all the options on that app it helps. I see the issue far less often, but it still happens, and using this app my battery life suffers a little.
Just suddenly yesterday my data connection started completely overridijg my wifi so that even with wifi on it still uses 3g/4g. Whats weird is that if no data is being used the cell radio seems to turn off and i only see the wifi icon. But when i try to use any internet related thing, wifi doesnt load anything, just stalls, then the cell radio turns back on and loads thru 4g. I know my wifi is working because it works if i turn on airplane mode before wifi it works. This is weird because ive had the g2x for 2 months and it just started happenning last night..
Also ive already deleted any myaccount related stuff.

I just started having this problem yesterday too. I thought I was the only one. I don't seem to be able to get anything via wifi.
I've been experiencing this from day one. It seems to fix itself quickly but I have to wonder how much data is being wasted on this.

You're right...mine did too...all day yesterday. Back to normal today. I even reset my AP to be sure....Just ask quick as it started, it stopped.
Yea so it stopped happenning for me around noon today. Thats weird. It seemed to hit last night and now its completely back to normal. Im confused as to what caused this.

happened again to me right now. I switched my access point to N....and now, G or 4G is always on. I did switch wifi off and on....and even turned the phone off....wonder if a N band is too confining for the phone...and it needs 4g help....
After flashing cm7 I no longer have this issue

Rooting and freezing the Tmobile apps fixed it for me
After reading the last few posts on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044349&page=4&highlight=wifi+4g+tmobile+device), I tried the suggestion of freezing the Tmobile apps (Tmobile My Account, etc.), and it stopped this issue for me. I rooted and used AntTek App Manager to freeze these apps.
My g2x is currently on MIUI 2.3.7
My g2x has been acting up on the wi-fi recently. And I know it's not the router, it's the phone. Even when I'm at the public library I only get one or 2 bars of wi-fi signal, sometimes it won't connect at all, sometimes it will but it will disconnect within 10 seconds. When I'm at my friends house I place it next to the router and still get only 2 or 1 wi-fi bars. Maybe a hardware issue? Idk. I have done the process of resetting, flashing a different rom, and relashing again but to no avail. I also tried looking for g2xfixwifi on the market but no results. Someone help or same thing that happened to anyone

My g2x locks onto networks almost instantly, are you fully wiping phone when installing new roms? I reccomend g2x scrubber or bo®ks nullifier .zip, ive tried every rom on this g2x back when it was my only phone and they all worked fine.

It may be the way your holding the phone, the wifi antenna is on the top of the phone, and when i hold near the top of the phone or with my finger over the top i will instantly drop a 2-3 bars, then right when i take it off it comes back, kinda does the same thing if you have it laying on a flat surface, try holding it at the very bottom and have the back and top exposed

Boy... I hope someone can help me out here. I have been searching for weeks with no luck. I have been having an issue with my stock 4.2.2 p5113 Tab 2 10.1 unrooted. I can't get it to find my home network. I can see my neighbors, even took it down to Arbys and was able to connect to their WiFi with no problems... Just can't connect or even see mine.
I have an Asus rt-n66r router. Have tried every channel and different frequencies. Changed every setting one at a time to see if it worked and nothing. Well... I take that back. Last night I turned off encryption and it popped up shortly... But went back away. When I go into advanced it shows the Mac address but IP says unavailable. I set up a static IP and that didn't help. I have reset the tab and router and even factory reset the router to no avail. It just doesn't make sense. Got this router back in March and its worked fine until now. Nothing has changed except me recently resetting the router to try and fix this. I have done everything I can think of but still can't see my own home WiFi. Everything else connects fine. Galaxy note 2, HP laptop on windows 8, smart TV, smart bluray, iPhone 5c, etc and everything else connects. Have even tried turning a few of them off to see if that helped but still nothing...
I really hope someone can help me. Had this thing for 2 years next month and it has always worked but at this point I feel like throwing it out the window LOL.

Also use WPA2 encryption. Have tried just WPA and WEP push button but wouldn't find it still. And tried turning off encryption again and still not seeing my WiFi. Wanted to add that...

No... Everything else works and shows the network. Have laptops, a windows tablet, an iPhone, a smart TV and blu ray and some galaxy note 2 phones and everything else works flawlessly. This galaxy tab 2 did and all the sudden can't see my home WiFi. Can see the neighbors, can see my TV sync and even worked when I took it to the local Arbys and used their WiFi. Only none it can't see is my router. I've only had the router since march. It cost about 150 bucks... Figured it would be decent... And it has except this one issue now...

If a factory reset doesn't do it then your tablet is bonkers. If you scroll down to the bottom of list of networks is your network showing? Maybe it has (forgot ) your network?

I went ahead and rooted and put on the slimbean ROM and still issue persists. So today I hooked up an old 15 dollar router I had from micro center and guess what? It showed up. So I factory reset my good Asus router and hook it all back up and still won't find it. I'm at a loss. Everything else in the house is connecting to that router no problem. Its some issue between this tab and this router... Only thing I dont get is why it worked before no problem and out of the blue it stopped connecting to the router without anything changing. I've been at this now for the past 24 hours pretty much non stop and I can't figure out what's wrong...

Can you see your Asus router on the Tab WiFi networks at all? Is it at the very bottom saying "not in range" ?
Long press on it, if there you'll get option to "forget network" or "modify" / modify. If you don't see it them it's forgotten, try add new network,.

Its just so frustrating especially after what I did today and could see the cheap Tenda WiFi router from micro center that I don't wish to use anymore because its old and out of date. I really am about to pull out my hair lol

By "forgetting" a network you eliminate it from your list of networks, you then have to add it again as a new network. Could this be the case?
Images are examples of forgetting networks.

No.. I understand what you mean. When I 'forget' a network, say on my phone, it will pop back up and I will have to click on it to connect to it. My home and guest WiFi names are no where on there. I scan and scan and they never show back up...

That's weird! I think you should consider rooting and installing a custom ROM, maybe a stock rooted ROM. I have Android Andi's CM11 4.4.4 KK running on my P5113 and it runs great. I suggested custom rooted if want to use the TV remote app, if not you should try CM11.

Op says stock /unrooted so only way to go to a different kernel would be to root and flash custom rom, and that will probably fix the issue. .

Oh I did root and have flashed 2 Roms so far and neither have helped. Took the tablet down to McDonalds today and it was able to connect. But then went to a friend D's house, my phone connected to his WiFi but the tablet didn't see it. Seen his neighbors, but not his. So I am really lost at this point...

So, the wifi problem on my N5 goes back some time ago; it happened for the first time about 2 weeks after i got it, middle november i'd say:
i always keep my wifi connected while at home and sometimes it just refuses to send data anymore. The signal bar doesn't drop, but the data just stops working. I don't remember what i did the first time it happened, but it just started working as intented after a few days.(I was on 4.4.4 back then).
Now I'm on 5.0.1 and it had been working right for some time, until 2 days ago i unplugged my router then plugged it back it. Later that day I noticed the issue is back. I have absolutely no idea what to do about it and it is irritating as hell.
Did any of you guys experience this before? If so, how did you fix it?
Also, is it possible that this is a driver issue on the phone side? All my other devices work just fine on wireless.

you may also try forgetting your network and re-logging back in. also check the wifi frequency band and of course rebooting your router can’t hurt.

I tried all that but with no success. I think the router might be the issue since it does have some glitches where it loses connectivity and it fixes after a reboot. I'll try with another router and report after.

I have done a full factory reset on my phone due to this issue, and it still happens. It doesn't just happen at home either, it happens everywhere I go. I am assuming at this point that it is a bug in 5.0/5.0.1 and hopefully it will be fixed in 5.0.2 (if the N5 ever see's this update).
If anyone has had any luck with this bug, please let me know.
I'm having the same issues. I'm now on my 4th router in as many months and I can't figure this out after testing just about every possible configuration of channels, frequencies and settings. We have about 10 devices connected in my home and the Nexus 5 is the only device with this problem. I'm at the point now that I just use LTE at home.
Yeah it's a 5.0.1 issue, if you've found your way to XDA you should try a custom ROM. Most are branched from the aosp 5.0.2 commits.

Did Lollipop rid the wifi options of "wifi optimization" and "avoid poor connections?" I used to keep those options unchecked for a more stable wifi connection.

But I had this same problem on 4.4.4 for a little while, that's why I was inclined to think it was something to do with my router.
Ahhh okay, yeah it very well could be.
I just had to replace my logic board due to faulty wifi, I got the always 'WiFi turning on' bug.

That setting checkbox was missing in advanced wifi settings since 5.0 (and the option was forced to "on")
