So, my M8 is my first HTC device, and I just installed Xposed (yes, I'm rooted and S off). I downloaded the Sense toolbox, and enabled it, then did a soft reboot. Then return to Xposed, to try to make some adjustments, but everytime I try to open the toolbox I get "Unfortunately, Sense 5 Toolbox has stopped". I tried removing the module and reinstalling it, but got the same thing. Again, I'm new to Xposed, so it's certainly possible that I've done something wrong. Any suggestions???
you need the sense 6 toolbox.

I just pushed the new 4.4.4 update for my Droid Ultra (not Dev edition)
Fortunately, it kept root access! Unfortunately, no matter what I do, the Xposed framework is refusing to work now. I've had it running flawlessly with 4.2.2 and 4.4, but now it'll download and appear to install, but it keeps asking me to reboot even after I flash it or do the "classic" installation.
Is anyone else having this issue?
You kept root but lost the ability to write to the system. Have to wait for a write protection exploit
Ahh okay! I get it. Hope one gets released soon!
So if 4.4.4 retains root would I be correct in concluding that in spite of that the WPNoMo/Pie combo technique from the bounty thread for 4.4 still won't get us a root that survives reboot/wp-off due to the new security in this update?

When xposed asks you to reboot just cancel and choose soft reboot. Any time you do a hard reboot you will lose the xposed framework. If that happens just re-install the framework and do a soft reboot.
TBH. im a noob at all of this.
i rooted my phone because i wanted to use g3 tweakbox app. I did successfully root my phone.
Recently i got an update on my phone. In which i did update my phone. software currently is 4.4.2. im guessing it was 4.4.1 before, not too sure. Still android kit kat despite lollipop already being out.
The problem i run into right now is when i open g3 tweaksbox, i get an error message saying 'the module is not enabled or xposed framework is missing...". i then opened xposed and Xposed gives me an error message saying "the lastest version of xposed is currently not active. did you install the framework and reboot?" ive searched all day to figure out why this is the problem but i havent been able to find a solution. I also got an error message in supersu saying that "there is no SU binary installed and superSU cannot install it".
I looked into resetting my phone, but i can not get anything to backup at all. Ive tried many placed to back up my stuff too but all fail. Im guessing its because im stuck between these two worlds right now: between a stock phone and a rooted one. Idk how to fix it and i cant back anything up anywhere. i also dont want to lose all of my stuff on my phone just by hitting the reset to factory button on my phone. Can yahll please help, thank you. my phone does run fine but im just not the type that leaves the problem alone.. i want to fix it but i cant cause im just stuck right now.

Xposed installer
Go to Xposed module
Check the tweaks
Then go to
Xposed framework
Click install /update
The it will asked to reboot
Then click OK
That's it

So I can successfully install superuser v2.40, but it's not working with one of my apps (puzzle and dragons). I have been told me to downgrade to 2.25, but I have been having issues.
The problem is no matter what, when I flash 2.25 it gets stuck in a bootloop. Flashing it on stock, and even flashing it over 2.40, and flashing it over 2.40 when clicking the replace button in the superuser app. What am I doing wrong? Is 2.25 not compatible with my phone?
Hi First of all, if you have any compatibility issues with apps try upgrading them rather than downgrading. In this case SuperSU v2.46 would be the current version. Anyways, I just googled a bit and that's not the problem at all.
The developers of the game implemented a function which doesn't let the app start on a rooted device. It will check if you have Superuser-rights and automatically close the game at the splash screen if so.
So actually what you need is something that "hides" your root. There are several methods. I heard about Xposed modules like RootCloak for example. I even read on the xda News page that it's Lollipop compatible

Thanks for the reply. On the game's forums, I have been told that masking does not work (if you look at xposed rootcloak it says it's not compatible). And some users have been able to get the game to work with certain versions. I am on the latest binaries and it still doesn't work. The only way to get it to work is to unsinstall SuperSU and reflash it every time I want to play.
On some forums I've read that SuperSU has got a function to "hide" or "temporarily disable" it... Take a look at the app. Hopefully this feature hasn't been removed and maybe that's enough for you to get the game working. It's not a perfect solution but at least you don't have to uninstall / reflash every time. Let me know if it worked
Hello All,
I've been working on a new rom for our beloved Stylo. Unfortunately, the only mods I've been able to add are mods that anyone can add themselves to their rom. I got it deoxed also. Debloating is breaking things. I'm wondering If its still worth continuing. Please someone give me some input. Thanks
Go on! Debloating from /system I did that for mine but couldnt add the mods. If you can send a test I can helo with that.
I'd love to see and test a new ROM

It would be flippen awesome if you could come up with something! I thought the mm update was dreadful and tried like hell to turn it into something good... But i kept running into dead ends. I rooted and unlocked the bl. Removed stock launcher and replaced with nova. Added debloated no ad bluetube app. Boot sound and logo... And other simple stuff.... But kept failing with theming UI... Framework.. Messaging... Keyboard...etc.
Ended up going back to lolipop with katana rom modified to my liking. Would love to have a nice mm rom. If u decide to continue, ill try to assist/continue/be a guineapig.
Here with metro pcs......I'll go for some testing as well.

Thats the exact same issue I'm coming up with.... I was gonna include HTC Blinkfeed but anyone can do that themselves... This is still a good phone. Just needs more development.

What were you able to successfully remove without breaking something or no boot?
Mods and Tweaks
If we can get a list of mods and tweaks that everyone has added to their Stylo we can start from there to build a good rom.
I removed all the metro bloat on my metro stylo mm. Also removed and replaced launcher and mms from system replacing them with nova launcher and google messenger. Dont remember what else it was so long ago. I do remember running into problems and crazy stuff happening but cant remember details. Think things got screwy having to do with kingo root. Was tricky hetting rid of all traces of it and replacing with a good su and bbox.
Im thinking about flashing mm again. Gotta figure out what the hell this new ota update was all about that my wife just got on her stylo (hers is unmolested stock metro stylo on latest mm update)
Guess i better ask.... What carrier is everyone on?
is this going be a whole new rom or a skinned over stock rom?
Send it on brotha! Ill test for ya man! I also do graphic design if you might consider theming it. Maybe make it a layers/rro/osm ROM? BTW Im on Metro/Tmo
Someone already made a flashable marshmallow rom, "Skinny ROM" but it wasn't debloated. (TMobile version)
Might want to try and contact him and get permission to use as a base.

Man, Its hard to debloat this rom without FCs or non boot. I miss @TURBO2012. He knows the Stylo in and out.

This was done on my H631 after a fresh KDZ install of 20b.
(Update all the LG apps before removing anything if not you will be left without Capture+ app)
After removing all these apps I did a factory reset (I have stock recovery), phone booted normally.
I suggest you do this after OTA to the latest version available as this is my backup phone.
(BTW: I also removed bootani and shutdownani zips so the phone powers on and shuts off quickly) :good:

The launcher of the Stylo 2 w/LG Suite has been ported
Ive stripped my ROM down way more than that. Been running it for about 4 months no issues. All the system crap I deleted I just went and got replacement apps for. Rooted and Xposed running various Xposed mods and Kernel Tweaks.
(EDIT) I can make a list of all crapware I got rid of if someone will be kind enough as to provide a list of whats installed from stock. It's been so long, I forgot all that was on here besides the LG crap.

I'm TMOUS. PLEASE DO NOT FLASH THE UPDATE if you plan to keep root. People have reported a locked bootloader and unable to root. I did some research on the OTA. It looks like the baseband has not changed so Idk why the radio.img is inside the update. It tries to patch all the system files with new ones.

I updated mine to 20C and then KDZd back to 20B cause I damaged my EFS... so if the update you're talking about is 20C theres no problem updating.
Actually I updated to 20C with unlocked BL and then booted twrp thru fastboot to root. (no install of twrp was required to achieve root)
Xposed framework is not yet ready for Android 7, so i was thinking if there is any alternative to xposed framework. If there is, plz let me know. Thanks in advance.
only thing that can be done now is wait
Wait... and pray they can even make it work. The developers of Xposed Framework have said soon this method will no longer work, in fact, if you remember last year when Marshmallow came out it was several months and the devs almost shut down Xposed and gave up, but got a lucky break. It might move forward for Nougat, or could stop here... either way, it won't last much longer. Better get used to stock Android or custom ROMs.

Ah... I assume you mean Greenify with its ability to hibernate system apps (everything else works in Greenify w/o Xposed except that), but Marshmallow and Nougat really don't need that anyway with Doze mode.
Still, Xposed is a dying thing, security in Android is getting tighter everyday, and that won't stop... And since Xposed is only intended for stock ROMs, as more and more security holes get closed, it makes it harder and harder to keep system-level mods working. Xposed is not intended for custom ROMs.

I didn't say it won't work, it's not supported... Xposed is not currently compatible with Nougat, it might be later or may not, just have to wait and see. Xposed was only intended for and supported on stock roms.
Xposed works by modifying the operating system framework, basically the structure of the components and how they are displayed... And most devices share a common, stock (or nearly stock) framework from the AOSP code base, Xposed works by modifying this on the fly to do things like replacing the battery icon or allowing you to hibernate system apps... This is all fine and dandy until you try to get it to make changes to a system that uses a modified framework already, like a custom ROM, depending on what it tries to do it may be successful or may cause the device to come to a crashing halt and be unbootable, or just cause weird little quirks that don't make sense, but it has tried to change something that was already changed causing an unpredictable mixture. This is why custom rom developers won't even look at a problem if Xposed is installed.
So the answer is, it might work, might not, but it's an unsupported configuration on ever custom ROM out there and you are on your own with it. Make sure to make backups, cross your fingers and make only absolutely necessary changes.
