I agree, there are so many to choose from, it would be easy to get lost.
Here are my recommended apps. I'd post links but as a new user I'm not allowed to. Oh well.
Infinite Painter
This is the best painting/drawing app I've used so far. The ability to rotate the canvas on-the-fly while you're drawing is especially useful. The paint-blending is surprisingly realistic. It looks like painting with an actual brush. The interaction with the s-pen is perfect.
QuickPic
It's essentially a superior replacement for the default picture gallery app. A problem I had with android's photo gallery was that it included all the folders on my overfull sd-card, which made looking for pictures extremely frustrating. QuickPic lets you exclude folders (or even your entire sd-card). Also it's free and ADFREE.
MX Player
A versatile video player. It can display subtitles.
AnyMemo
If you're looking for a flash-card app, you can't go wrong here.
I'll update my list as needed.

I uss as well the Quick Pic app. Love that one, so much better than stock.
I tried MX Player, seemed descent enough, but I prefer Real Player.

Infinite Painter is the only other drawing app I have kept other than CloverPaint. I have tried many. sketchbook pro, layerpaint, art flow, photoshop touch, fresco paint and probably others i cant recall.
I find infinite painter is the closest to replicating real media, but CloverPaint has more functionality than any other android art programme and is starting to approach desktop aplications type levels with the (admitidly expensive) extension add on

CloverPaint, huh. I haven't even heard of that one. I'll check it out. Thanks.
It's not the most intuitive. But once you have figured it out it makes sense.

I wasn't too big on QuickPic, but I really like F-Stop. Never been a fan of the stock gallery. Actually my favorite replacement gallery was installed when I installed a Lenovo Camera apk on my Note 3, called SEEit gallery, but never bothered to test it on my Note 8.

I'm in the same boat. Never had much artistic talent. Still doesn't prevent me from playing around with these fancy drawing apps regardless.
Here's my new wallpaper I managed to make in Infinite Painter in about five minutes.
Looks pretty good on my purrty screen!
I'm thinking an Impressionist style painting would be a less challenging project for someone who is less "artistically endowed". I'll be testing out my theory soon.

Great, thanks for your support. I hope you enjoy the extra features that weren't in the beta.
Has a little issue of the line breaking up when i draw slowly, zoomed in around 250% or more on the xoom. Could also use a number value next to the slider for changing brush size, as well as some smoothing on the brushes to help with jagged edges. This app has some great potential, I can't stand sketchbook mobile on honeycomb, glad to see someone finally putting an alternative out with layers and a good interface, bought the pro version and will definitely be watching for updates.
We need to be able to select colors by hex value, I know that's an easy thing to add and would make things easier when selecting colors
You should have a sale for the app and make it .99 and see how it does in sales over the weekend...people like sales hehe

Glad you like the app! Well spotted, I can confirm the slow drawing bug on my device. I imagine there's a rounding error somewhere that's causing this when calculating the position of the brush stroke. Values for the brush configuration screen does sound like a good idea.
Are you getting jagged edges always or with certain brush sizes? Fresco includes line smoothing at the moment.

I was thinking about adding another tab to the color dialog screen that would contain red/blue/green sliders and a button for entering a hex value. Thanks for the advice about pricing.
Does anyone reading use a Samsung Galaxy S 2? I just had a vague error report that pressing undo makes black boxes appear on the canvas which is a show stopping bug to have. Can anyone reproduce this?
Just noticed this, but why is there such a gap? Left side of the image...

Oh dear. What happens if you draw several strokes in different places, undo several times and then redo everything? Can you draw something, return to the gallery while saving your image and then load your image successfully?
Edit: Do you know if you've got the Exynos 4210 "GT-i9100" or the Tegra 2 model? I know the app works fine on the Xoom's Tegra 2 so I'm wondering if it's the former that's the problem.

Are you running an ad-blocker? The Lite version has ads at the top. I can see why the black box would be confusing though.

I was thinking about a stand alone organized app drawer ( by stand alone i mean like "all apps organizer, you can find it on market).
This was my concept (very childish paint but you shoud get it)

The main objective of the app drawer is to have all the apps organized by type in the same "screen" and if they does not fit into one screen you can down scroll to see the remaining apps, just like a normal app drawer. Then to change type (like games, apps, utility, internet etc) just side scrool.
Everything would be organized alphabetically on a screen and there should be the ability to move an app throug the screen to change category. Last "screen" should be uncategorized and over there will be placed all the installed apps to be moved on the right category manually.
i don't know if this has been made but i think it could be a very good app drawer
sorry my english and say what you think about this concept
This post is to find someone that would like to develop this
There is something similar in ADW LauncherEX.
You can create groups of programs and swipe through them on the app drawer. Although it doesn't have any transition between the groups, it just changes, which is a bit dull.
I do love the idea though
i really like the concept!
This is a really great idea!
I think it would be even cooler if the app categorized the apps for you. If it gets a few wrong, you would still be able to move it to a different screen. I would hate going through each app to add it, if you know what I mean.
That's more like the webos style, pages and categories of apps. I like this design a lot.

This is MY IDEA!!
The day I bought my Captivate several months ago, its the first thing I thought of that Android could do with its app drawer that would make it awesome. Have all apps categorized by user created categories and then in alphabetical order with new programs automatically going into these categories or else placed in a temporary folder for the user to categorize them later on.
And then for navigation you could have a side scrolling menu that lists all the categories so that you can immediately jump to that category at the touch of a button. I have it completely mapped out how it would work in my mind, but unfortunately I have zero programming capabilities. Crap.
This is a very neat concept. I think it would be really cool for the app drawer to categorize all of your apps for you by default. Obviously there should be room to reorganize and create your own categories of apps as well.
Very neat!

Categorizing things is annoying just the first time then just install and move the application. With multi select it would be fast to move application.
The only thing we need now is a developer
I agree this is an awesome idea and would be much easier to use than the standard app drawer
By the way, the app AppCat is vaguelly similar to this idea but not very user friendly but i dont know if that helps with anything
RDS
I know this is on webOS phones, but great idea for Android! Sometimes I feel my app drawer is too cluttered, loving the idea.
I'm trying appcat to see what it is.
EDIT:
YEs, it categorizes verything but too many categories and is not ok for daily use as main app drawer. too long to find an app between those categories and interface
take a look at appGrouper aswell it may be closer to what you are looking for
RDS
actually, look at the home replacement tag home. It's app drawer is very close to what you want and is quite a nice launcher alternative

And what home replacement are you talking can you post full name or link^^?

You could have been learning how to code for the entire time this thread was inactive! Then you would be able to bring your own idea to life.
I was trying to find one for school that allows me to type AND draw all on the same note (like for Math class where I need to type definitions and draw graphs) The only one that is close is freenote but it always says it runs out of memory and loses my notes. I can't find one that does both keyboard and drawings in one. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks!

handwrite will also do both.
looking just for handwriting notetaking than try genial as it is the smoothest..a close 2ndis tabnotes
I've been using Evernote for years and really like it. It's like a blank canvas for you to create your own method of organization. It took me a why to create a folder structure that worked for the various things I need to keep track of.
Springpad is another good one out there. It has some prebuilt organization structures that will help you get started much quicker than with evernote such as a blank notes, tasks (with check boxes) and the ability to add items via search or scanning a barcode.

Has anyone tried pensupremacy..I haven't but curious how it is?
I spent a few weeks trying to figure out a good set up for class notes..
Check out Freenote. IDK why nobody else suggests it, but it lets you do everything. you can record sound and input them, take pictures, take video, and put all these things right in the same note.
You can write with a stylus, and after each word it automatically shrinks it to whatever font size you want and in line, so that you can write big and clear.
You can draw free hand.
And you can type right in the same lines as all the above.
Its by far the best note taking app available that I have tried; and i have tried literally every one of them listed above.
The other app i would suggest is Repligo Reader. If your classes are anything like my classes, they give tons of notes on PDF. Well this app is a pdf editor, you can draw on them, and input text boxes to type in, and then save it all within the PDF.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the input, but I mentioned that in the OP. I get the out of memory issue in Freenote all the time!
usually i just use the default office app that comes with the Transformer to take notes... typed notes that is... not handwritten.
I am kind of frustrated by the lack of a school-oritented notes program that features both typing and drawings.
After over a month of searching, I found freenote to be the only program sporting both features, and unfortunately it is incredibly buggy, has a terrible UI, and just looks ugly.
My work around has been to use ezPDF Reader, which by nature is a PDF annotation tool. I created a series of 40-page blank pdfs and open them up in the app. From there I can add text boxes, hand drawings and pre-set drawings...with them saved as PDFs. It has worked so far but ultimately it is really ridiculous that no one is capitalizing on this. The Applestore sports dozens of applications that do this and I have no clue why all we have available is Freenote. Missed opportunity right there.

Im suprised you have so many issues with freenote, I use it daily and have never had an issue
I agree there is tons of room for improvement though, both in free notes interface, and the need for other options in general.
when do you typically get the out of memory issue?
is it adding multiple pics, and documents to your worksheet?
or just continuing on the same page forever?
or just random occurances?
I typically do one page per section, so they remain fairly short, and rarely add more than one or two pics to a page. I just hand draw stuff instead of taking pictures.
Off curiosity, whats your favorite stylus?
I love Colornote on app market

I think SuperNote is the best note taking app..
is very similar to FreeNote in the functionality (text, handwritten, drawing, insert picture, ...) but has a beautiful tablet interface..
+1 for AntiPaper Notes HD that someone has mentioned in this thread that is a good alternative in case you don't like SuperNote..
Writepad Stylus is nice, it has palm detection so you don't have to worry about awkwardly floating your palm over the screen as you write. And typing support too!

Agreed!!

I completely agree. SuperNote is awesome. It does everything the OP requested and is free.
SuperNote is great, but it lacks RTL support. Writepad doesn't care much what language and direction you're writing.

place your image in an unlikely setting. Airbrush it on an exclusive car or leave it as a sand imprint on the beach.
☆ Face photo montages:
Turn yourself or your friend into Jack Sparrow, an astronaut or a horrible monster. The most complicated montages are handled automatically by a face detection algorithm.

add some style to your images with various photo filters such as Black&White, Neon Glow, Oil Painting and many others.
☆ Photo collages:
create a wonderful picture of you and your friend floating together in a sentimental or futuristic setting.
How it works:
First, choose a photo effect. Then pick a photo you want to process. The photo will be uploaded to our servers and it will be processed there. Then the result will be downloaded back to your phone. All the effects are applied automatically, so you don't have to tweak them manually. This includes face montages. Our face detection algorithms will take care of your portraits.

I'm eager to hear what you think of it and to help if you have any problems with the app. Negative feedback is welcome! Though personally I'd prefer flattering comments. Please, PM me if you don't feel like reaching out via email or posting here.
Uploading photos might not best option.
1. Privacy
2. Image size upload download limitations.
Above is my personal opinion. Idea is good.

Pho.to Lab doesn't generate short links to pictures unless you tell it to.

That's why we advise to use Wi-Fi. Besides, downloading an image seems way more efficient than storing 500+ hi-res photo frames in a phone memory. If Pho.to Lab worked offline, we should have sent a 16 GB flash drive to each user
upload to your server is not the good idea... IMHO...

Yes, but neither is jamming all the effects into phone memory. Besides, we have tons of pictures processed on our site everyday and no one has complained of privacy problems so far. (It's not a challenge, please don't try to hack it somehow)
You can make use of technology like webservices etc for processing instructions.
Just like google doing voice to text conversions. If we can imagine their data center size
Edit: It is brand power that people rely so much. I wish you all the best.
If you wish to provide cloud based services for storage it will sound positive but not just for image processing. Thanks.

Actually, we do provide storage services. But we're centered on photo processing and everything related to it, so we only host images. I guess I'll create a thread for our photo sharing app a little later.
We have opened a beta test thread about the new version of Pho.to Lab on XDA. If you want to try it out, head over here.
We have rolled out the redesigned version of Pho.to Lab PRO!
The interface looks fantastic now:

When i bought this application, i had read in op on the play store: new effects every two weeks
there have also a notification option in the settings, now it's necessary to have new effects
to wait long time for update of the application.
About new UI if is possible improve to the standard holo interface, because the look in the
certain element of the ui have similar look as iphone. Thank you in advance!

I'm sorry that you were disappointed with Pho.to lab. We'll try to roll out updates faster, so that you can enjoy new effects sooner.
As for the new UI, could you please tell me exactly what you don't like?

Hi all!
I wasn't satisfied with any of the current methods of accessing all apps/contacts so I set out to create my own.
I present to you, Snype.
Snype has a unique dual-index system where switching between "snyping" apps and contacts is almost instant. It has changed the way I use my device and has done the same for many of my beta testers.
It also has a unique "side panel" mode where apps and contacts can be accessed simply by scrolling a finger up or down the edge of the display, which is always active no matter which app you are currently in. A list will appear and automatically begin scrolling to the location in the index that the finger is pointing to.
Snype does not try to replace your launcher. In fact, I designed it so that I would be able to use any launcher I like and not have to worry about the launcher's implementation of the app drawer. This means it's very easy to have a completely uncluttered, beautiful home screen and still be only a second away from accessing any app or contact you desire.
There are no ads and all functionality is available for free. The premium upgrade allows full customisation of the appearance of the lists.
Let me know how it goes for you!
I should mention that the premium upgrade is available for $0.99 for a short period of time to celebrate the launch of Snype. It will be a bit more later.
I love your app Sleep Ambience!

Hey thanks Kiwiio!
Haha, I certainly didn't expect many people here would be using my other app.
I hope you like this one too!

Thanks. That would be appreciated.
Really good app. I will give you 5 stars!
Some things to change:
- Add more languages
- if possible the alphabet lists have a title to know that one it is for apps, and the other for contacts.
- A widget and a direct access from home.

Thanks for the excellent feedback.
More languages is actually a surprisingly large challenge due to the indexes. It is something that I might look into again later, but when I was having a crack at it before there were some significant technical hurdles.
I have thought about doing something to let you know at a glance which is for apps and which is for contacts... like different colours or something. I'm not sure. Where do you think the title should go? There's not much room there.
I also looked into doing a widget. Unfortunately widgets don't support all kinds of views so making a widget with this functionality is impossible unless the launcher is built specifically for it. That's actually the main reason I implemented the side panels, because I knew the widget would not be possible.
ability to launch apps in halo would be nice. And maybe icon theme support. Very nice and useful app by the way:good:

Thanks for the ideas
I just released an update to fix some crashes in the initial release.
I just released an update which added animation to the side panels, adds Snype to the list of apps and fixes some bugs. I'm still trying to hunt down some bugs that occur only on some devices. Let me know if you have one of those devices please.
Okay, I think I've got all the known bugs fixed. Let me know if there's anything else wonky.
Just released an update with a new feature: favourites bar.
Now it's even faster to access those special few apps and contacts you use most often.
I love the ability to search contracts easily! And light theme looks cool.
Keep it up!:good:

Very good idea. I'm thinking about replacing my app drawer with this app. Unfortunately the fly in and out animations are somewhat jerky (using a Note 3).

Yeah, Samsung devices seem to do that. I'm not sure why, since even my Galaxy Nexus is pretty smooth and the Note 3 is much more powerful. I'll keep trying to make it smoother for you.
