Hi! I saw plenty of wireless charging pads on ebay, that can be put under the phone cover, but will they fit under the basic battery cover? Do I need to buy a thicker extended cover, does anyone have experience with these stuff?
I've been using one for months now and love it.
The one I have fits great under the stock cover.

I have a wireless charger kit I got from a Chinese shop, it works great. Charges as fast as plugging it in.
I got it mainly because my last phone had the USB connector start to fail from repeated usage. I also have a bluetooth dongle on my PC and that's how I transfer photo to it, so my phone pretty much never gets plugged-in.

Pics of your QI pad, QI charger with phone screenshot charging data on QI wireless pls. If not, it never happened as pads are usually tagged up to 650-700 mAh, some could be tagged at 1000 mAh (but can not charge at that rate even if the QI charger is good, had one and tossed it away cause of bulge too).
I have the Ravpower QI charger tagged at 1000 mAh, Ravpower slim pad rated at 650 mAh and that's exactly what I'm getting from it - 650 mAh charging.
Dunno how could you get from 1200 to 1600 mAh from yours though... unless you consider 650 mAh rate as a "normal" charging rate.
Btw, you can transfer w/e you like via WiFi and with some good WiFi manager app, it's a lot faster then BT sheite.
@OP, you might search a bit on XDA re QI wireless charging pads and chargers. There are slim and not so slim pads. My advice is to calculate good as each and every one of them is going to get you a slight bulge on your phone back, no matter which one you choose. Better choose a ultra slim then a 1mm one...
Remedy would be to cut out a battery cover and use a good protective case in case you opt for a slim and tiny pad. Might not like that, but that's an option if you want your phone laying down on flat surface as it is now - flat on the flat surfaces.

Yeah, good to see your 600 mAh pad (based on the photo of it from your link) is charging at (what?) rate... say at least 1200 mAh (?), while your QI charger is outputting at max 1000mAh? :silly:
See, IMO it still does not compute and you can't get nothing more then 600-650 mAh from it, let alone 1000 mAh seen your pad is tagged at max. 600 mAh.
Showing the back of your charger is proving nothing at all, just so you know it, even your perception of charging times suggests something different.

Well boo-hoo princess, you are simply wrong.
It does charge very quickly, much faster than the previous one I had and about as fast as plugging the phone in. I don't have to plug the phone in to charge it any more or transfer photos so the USB port in it is going to last quite a long time.
@OP: sorry for this OT, but this guy seem to be writing a whole bunch of pompous ideas on his personal perception of the QI charging on SGS4.

I did some careful checking and it the wireless charging starts at around 850 ma. The Ac charger I have starts at 1100 ma so a bit less than what I thought but a lot more than what you thought.
And because you're an arse you are now the first on my ignore list.
I did the palm pre mod, and I would not reccommend it. I fould that ot bulked out the case and made cases fit weird. If you do wireless charging i would get the legit one
I use a Qi wireless charging sticker/pad I got for $12 on ebay or Amazon (i forgot). The bulge under the original battery cover made the phone difficult to fit with my UAG case, so I bought a spare battery cover ($5 on ebay) and cut an opening to match the charging pad. I covered the opening with vinyl sticker to prevent dust from getting in. Now it fits perfectly in my UAG and Speck Candyshell cases. I use a LG WCP-300 charger that outputs at 1A.

Your transmitter is a fake yijieneng, I get these for USD 7 each, the receiver is a powerqi, can't confirm from the link if it's a real or fake one.

No samsung phone supports qi wireless charging pass 650mAh, no matter what the input states on the receiver.
Anything above 1000mAh will generation too much heat, only the LG G2 can charge upto 996mAh.

So true! Also the heat is the major breaking factor in wireless charging (all should know that and thank you for pointing that out), but that particular troll hid under his cozy little rock thinking he can get 1200 to 1600 mA out of his, now rectifying to obnoxious 1100... LOL at him and his BS comments.
I just hope no one will listen to his BS crap.

When it comes to qi wireless charging, I think I'm quite experienced on this, afterall, I've been with these for a good few years before it actually became a mainstream product, I also get many of the new stuff first hand, not to mention I was offered test a A4WP wireless charging sample, but I turn the offer down.
Just wondering the best set up for qi, receiver and pad that work well together. Thanks guys

Technically, any receiver will work well with any charger. The thing you need to look for is a charger that can output 5V at 1A. Pretty much every charger will have that rating so it's hard to mess that one up. As far as the receiver goes, the higher the current output the better (measured in "ma"). And by "better" I mean the phone will charge faster. I have a 1A (1000ma) receiver in my Note 4. It charges pretty quickly, but interferes with NFC. Also, a higher current for a receiver typically means it will also be thicker, making the back of your phone bulge more.
Which charger and receiver are the most durable/well built is a much more difficult question to answer as there are so many to pick from. Just think about how you want to use it, do you want your phone tilted up at you while it's charging? Do you want a super grippy pad so your phone won't walk off the pad when it vibrates? Do you want it to be portable like the mobile pal 2 in 1? The best charger for you will be dependant on how you answer those questions.
Similar questions need to be asked for the receiver. Do you want it to work with NFC? Will you generally just use wireless charging to charge overnight? If so you can get away with a smaller, lower current receiver since you won't need quick charging. If you'll be charging throughout the day you'll want to get a receiver with a higher current rating.

The CHOETECH Stadium has 3 coils as opposed to some chargers that only have one - from what I've read that makes for faster charging and less problems positioning the phone correctly. This is my first foray into wireless charging though, so I'm only repeating what I've read online, not speaking from experience
I use fonesalesman powercard, and my trusty Nokia Qi charger. The thing is you have to find the right spot for the Qi receiver and charger to line up, then it will charge as it should.

Glad you got sorted out and it's working well. Just got the CHOETECH Stadium (which is also 3 coils) set up and the FoneSalesman N4 SlimPWRCard installed. So far very impressed - the card is unnoticeable except for that slight bulging below the flash, which isn't really visible at all in a case. You can basically 'throw' the phone down onto the charging pad without having to worry too much about positioning. So far I have only used the CHOETECH connected to a PC USB port, not a wall adapter, but even at that, with the phone powered on, I got 10% of charge in an hour (65%-75%). Expecting even better results tonight with the CHOETECH plugged into the Samsung charger and the phone off. In any case, it's great to have that trickle charge while you're sitting working at the computer, without having to plug in. Yay for wireless charging
EDIT: Got just over 10% in half an hour with the charger plugged into the Samsung adaptor, and charging through a UAG case. :good:
EDIT 2: Charged phone overnight from 1% to 100%, it took approximately 5 hours. Good thing is there were no beeps or sounds from either the phone or the charger, and no noticeable 'hum' from the charger either - so good for bedside usage

It does make the back cover bulge a bit but it's not bad.
The phone gets warm when charging wirelessly but it's not too bad at all.
Sometimes, the charging pad will detect the receiver but the phone doesn't charge. If I remove the phone from the charging pad for a few minutes and put it back, it will start to charge.
Charging wirelessly is not as fast as using a wired charger and I would say it takes about 30 to 50 percent longer.

I have never used nfc on my phone but I know you can get pads that do support nfc as an option.

I have a qi receiver on the S4. My one has input: "self-adaptation" (whatever that means) and an output of 600mah. It charges at a decent speed. I use the LG G3 wireless charger and a few other wireless charging pads and they seem to charge at a decent speed. A full charge takes about 3 hours.
The cover does bulge a tiny bit, but it is barely noticeable trust me- definitely worth it.

I can tell you the one from Aukey, although it uses a flat printed circuit coil, bulges a lot. Enough I didn't want to use it. It was advertised as being "ultra slim 0.2mm", but when I measured it with calipers, it's more like 0.9mm. The ferrite pad on it is most of the thickness.

The Fone Salesman S4 SlimPWRcard does not bulge at all.
I was digging around on ebay for accessories for my G5 and i suddenly found this type of wireless charger for LG G5 that comes with a sticker and it has a cable on the bottom to transfer the charge from the sticker into the phone. So.... has anyone tried it already? Comment what do you think about it. Are we getting closer to have wireless charging capability the same or similar way than other devices with wireless charging feature? In my opinion this might be an improvement. (not that i use wireless charging a lot but it is sometimes useful)

You still need to get the charging base, unless you have one, many of these receiver that plugs into the USB port is not very reliable, too many detection error and very fragile, but I did try a micro USB QI receiver yesterday on the G5 and it work fine, that is upto now without error also trying some QI extention cable receiver, still work perfect.

What is most interesting about this is that it works with any device (smartphone) with Type C . According to the descriptions you find on ebay and amazon. I will have to give it a try. Dont know when i will be able to buy it exactly, but i will
I would check the output. These G5 take a large 1800mA (could be more haven't looked) charger. I used to grab those Qi universal charger films you are talking about. Worked great until phones started taking 1000mA or greater chargers. Many of these wireless chargers do NOT support fast enough charging. Meaning it could take 4 hours to get your battery to 50% or even longer (some are only 500mA chargers, almost 75% slower than normal).
So be prepared for extremely slow, albeit convenient, charging. Check the output of your charging base and the output of the charging film first.
I just ordered that sticker from eBay. I'll report back once I have it and tested it. I have the tylt 3-coil wireless charger. Charging speed is no issue for me. I don't need rapid charging like from the OEM charger.
If you don't have tylt, you can try the spigen 3-coil wireless charger. They're cheap on eBay! I'm not sure if it'll work (I haven't tested it) , but spigen is a good brand for most things.

Im trying to sell my Galaxy s5 locally to get some money back and some of my covers among other things, however, here in miami people sell high, and want to buy extremely low.

There is only one available, no matter where you buy it, it's the same product, speed is slower than cable, but that was expected, if you use a case, it's very fiddly to put on and take off, as the plug area is very big when you compare them to other receivers like the micro USB or lightning.

Hmm, But what was the estimate time for the phone to fully charge from x% to y% ? Maybe with another cover it would be easier to put? There are quite a few now for g5

If you are concern about slow speed, you shouldn't use it, as I say it's slower than cable, I mean with a normal charger, not a fast charger, but i'm ok with that, I have never liked fast charge, if you are using a TPU case, it easy to use, but cases like my voia or spigen style armor with removable bottom has problems, the head is very big, so not all case will fit.

Im not that concern though. After all i would only use it about 10% of the times. But people who really use it would probably like to know

Great!! thanks for sharing. Any intel about how long does it take to charge from x% to y%? any given value to x and any given value greater than X given to Y. Also, when you are using the device, whether it transfer enough energy to keep using the phone while it charges or whether the battery will decrease while you are using the phone. (In an average usage: Say, Facebook, youtube with brightness in about 50-70%, or having at least 3 or 4 applications running in the background that are not so heavy, nor light) If you have tried any of this things, or all of them, please share your experience with it.
According to the description of the link i posted, it says that the output is 1000mA

With about 1 hour of charging, i got about 10% of charge. If there's load, it'll def drop the charging capability. I'll do more rigorous testing, but as it stands, it's charging slowly.
Part of it can also be because I'm using the tylt charger, which has a 5 w output.

hmm yeah. There might be some factors affecting the rate of charge. I mean, 10% in 1 hour? that shouldn't be a standard charge rate. I will dig in a little more and see what i can find out there in google. Maybe someone did try it with a charging dock with higher Watts output. I will let you know if i found something

Part of it can also be because I'm using the tylt charger, which has a 5 w output.

Okay, before i looked into google i decided to see what other sellers on ebay have to offer and here is what i found. There are sellers that sell the sticker along with a charging dock with an input of 2000mA and output of 1000mA, Power: 10W. I think that would only double the estimated time you just gave me from x to y being 10% in 1 hour . But it still too low. Maybe the cover is another factor? Maybe there are materials that decrease the overall charging rate by slowing the transference of energy from the dock to the wireless receiver. I will look for more info.
After owning a Nexus 6 I don't want to have a phone without wireless charging. These wireless charging receivers work great with the mix, i've tried two different models and I am super happy with how things work

anyways, now that i have quick charge 3.0 chargers everwhere and quick charge wireless charges it really is pretty fast. it charges wirelessly around 990mA, which isn't as fast as plugging in directly but with the insane battery life this phone has it is fine for me. I can drive in my car while casting my phone's screen to my head unit with gps on full time and playing music and the screen on low brightness and it still charges wirelessly.
the receiver is so thin i barely know it is there behind my case.
anyways, if you miss wireless charging this solution works well

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. A couple of questions:
1. You said "it charges wirelessly around 990mA" - how did you measure the charging rate? Is it a reading from Ampere app from Play Store, or something else? Also, is is the peak or average current?
2. You said "i barely know it is there behind my case" - is your receiver sticker from your first link actually *inside* the case, or *outside*, coming in direct contact with the charger from your second link? If it is outside - would you mind putting it inside the case for a minute, and measuring the charging current with Ampere app when the phone case is between the receiver sticker and the charger? TIA

yes, this is with Ampere measuring.
all measurements are inside the case, as in the sticker is stuck directly to the phone with the case overtop of it.
with this new case http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70603907&postcount=20 i really do not even know the sticker charger is there, it lines up perfectly with the case at the bottom and there is no added bulge at all in the back.

I also use a sticker receiver and the case, and while I cannot recommend the sticker (or maybe it's my charger?) that I use, because Ampere tells me I only get 200-300mAh charging current on average - the case I'm using is really awesome (I have black version with golden frame): http://www.ebay.com/itm/322333960673
I'm hoping if I get your sticker and this charger (this is the new version of the same one you linked) I'll also get around 1A wireless charging current.

yes, i had the Nillikin sticker receiver before this one i linked that claims fast charging. with the Nillikin i got similar results as you get now around 200-300mah.
only when all parts in the process were fast charge did i actually see a difference. the sticker must be fast charge, the qi charger must be fast charge, and of course you must have a fast charge 3.0 wall charger. i was actually surprised it worked, but it does.
I'm going to try that case you linked too one of the few i haven't tried yet.
Lads in regards to wall chargers Ive got recently the dodocool 3.0 charger and it is way faster comparing to the genuine one! Really impressed! build quality is very good too! (no numbers on charging yet as I did not have time to do it...)

it has been reported that the mix only shipped with a 2.0 charger so that makes sense that a 3.0 charger would charger quicker. good to hear!
