[Tip] put Amazon Appstore in /system to install apps silently no extra Install click - Android General

A tip for those of you who don't own a Kindle device and use Amazon Appstore:
You know that you always get the Android install screen after clicking Install from the Appstore itself, this is because Amazon Appstore is considered as a Sideloader of APKs on the android system.
A way to fix this is to move the Amazon Appstore apk in the "/system/app" (or "/system/priv-app" if using kitkat).
In this way Android will considered Amazon Appstore as an authorized system app with install permission, and will allow it to install and update APKs without showing the Android install screen. You can also uncheck the "Unknwon sources" setting to keep your device secure from dangerous apps while still being able to use Amazon Appstore.
I have been using it like this since sometime and it works great.
If you like my tip, leave me a thank you :good:
Enjoy a quicker Amazon Appstore experience...

amazon appstore apk installation/backup methods, what I found so far

I tried to find out if it's possible to extract amazon app store downloaded apk APPs for backup/archive purposes. here are some facts I found so far,
- when you download an app, the apk goes in \sdcard\android\data\com.amazon.vevezia\. the apk names are in the format of vnz-<some_number>.apk
- I uninstalled amazon appstore at this point and moved the angrybirds apk to root. it installed fine but requires "unknown sources" checked
- angry birds rio won't play. error "it looks like the amazon appstore was uninstalled from your device"
- reinstalled amazon app store apk. angry birds rio error "You must be signed in to the Amazon App Store to run this app".
- signed in appstore, angry birds rio runs fine now.
- switched to airplane mode to disable data/wifi. app runs fine.
- killed appstore in task manager. app runs fine.
so, seem apps only look for appstore(signed in) for the very first time it's launched.
- this file now exists, sdcard\.android_secure\com.rovio.angrybirdsrio-1.asec
will .asec file backup and restore?

This whole process is quite a drag.
I'd like to know also, amazon app store is a pain to use. Also the fact that it keeps signing me out and every time I try and use an app purchased with the app store I have to log in each and every single time

[Q] Not all android apps compatible with kindle, even if rooted...

Hi, I just rooted my kindle fire to be able to access the android market, and in the market app it does not even bring up blood and glory when searched? But if I go to the market via the web I can see it but it then says it is not compatible with my rooted kindle?? So I cannot download It.???? So are there just some apps that will not work??? Or is there a way around this?
Thanks!

Apps a deigned to work only with the right hardware. You could try to fake it so the market thinks its a different device but it still may not work
Because its the Kindle Fire the Amazon App Store is default. And so when company's like Gameloft release a game they'll assume that your Kindle Fire doesn't have access to the Android Market and most of the time they'll only release the app for the Android Market meaning that the Market app will filter the app out. One of the ways to get around this is to go onto your computer and download the apk file and then transfer it to your Kindle. Once you've installed it on your Kindle it should run. You can download an apk file via your Kindles browser as long as it is an apk file. I'm not to sure about paid app's however.
Thank for the info!
So how do I go about downloading the APK file (blood and glory) to a computer, as the market again will not let you download it (need android device)??? and once I have the file do I just drop it in to the main kindle drive (no special folder or any thing).. because when trying to find all my other APK app files that are installed on my kindle I can't find where they are store at on my kindle??
I am pretty new to all this still...
Thanks again, you guys are great!

Amazon Appstore's App

I didn't know Amazon had locks on certain apps where you need the fire line to download the apps...well, now I need to ask, how do I download these apps (or even get it listed on the Amazon Appstore app)? There has to be a way somehow? posting it here cause I am using the Shield Tablet

Downloading APKs on-device from the store without using Google's API

I just got a tablet that uses a de-Googled Android (Amazon Kindle Fire HDX). I'm aware you can install the Play Store and turn it into a useable tablet, but I wonder if this couldn't be achieved in a simpler way - or rather, a way that didn't require installing the Google framework.
I'm thinking of the Chrome/Chromium plugin that lets you spoof the Play Store and download the APKs straight to your computer. I'd like something similar, but that could run on the device itself, so you could install stuff without needing a computer nearby. Unfortunately Chrome for Android doesn't support the same extensions as the desktop version, so that option is a no-go. I've checked a few apps that claim to download APKs, but they all use the Google API and won't work if the PlayStore isn't already installed.
Any ideas?
head over apkleecher.com, put the package name there and download the apk from g0ogle play, in any browser

Android - Life without Gapps

It has just always been my default move to flash Gapps after a custom ROM flash. Reflex just like flashing SuperSU.
Lately I'm annoyed with it, though. There are some apps I don't want to update, ever. Using an app to remove the market link for an app works till you run the Play Store again, so it really doesn't work. Then you have to go through the apps one by one and update them instead of touching "Update All", or just remove the market link every time before you check for updates via Play. I suppose you could write a script that runs before the Play Store to do this automatically, but this is another annoyance rather than a fix IMHO. And you still get Play Services running the BG whenever it feels like it. Also something I don't like.
So, anybody not using Gapps at all on a DD device? And what are you using to get apps instead? I found androiddrawer.com to be pretty good, but any other full on "store" app seems to either not do enough of what Play Store does, or it does exactly what it does, and I don't want that, OR it's the Amazon "app store" which is just really stupid anymore.
So what I want is either an app store that gives me the option to leave an installed app alone forever and keep its stupid mouth shut about updates, OR ?
What do you use?
Seem to have answered my own question. 1mobilemarket does the trick. Gives me the option to ignore app updates. That's all I needed.
None of Gapps work in here so there are always localized alternatives to each Gapps.
I deinstall gapps with an app with root access

I never install the gapps in the first place. I have a number of extracted apk files for those essential play store only apps, the rest is coming via the f-droid repository.

how to extract apk from Gapps?
I went back to Gapps, unfortunately. F-droid does not have all I normally use, and they really need to have the option to ignore updates. Androiddrawer.com is an OK alternative, but not really ideal.
Think what I'll do it setup a dummy device in an emulator with Gapps installed to keep updated apks on tap and then I can cherry pick what I want with my real devices. Keeps data usage down to a minimum and lets me get rid of Gapps on my real devices. Wish there was a nicer way.
Actually, we here in Indonesia have some alternative app stores, but all of them aren't a replacement of Play Store.
Some of them are carrier-dependent for some features, like Gudang Aplikasi that their IAP only available to XL Axiata users and TemanDev and WePlay where their IAP only available for Telkomsel users.
Another app stores, like web-based JalanTikus and 9Apps, or Baidu Indonesia's MoboMarket.
These app stores' app lists were incomplete and no IAPs like Play Store has. So why Indonesians are using these app stores altogether with Play Store.

I'd like to get rid of gapps but I have one paid app that require the play store authenticator to run :/
