What browser are you using? - Verizon HTC One (M8)

So I've tried out Chrome, and I didn't care much for that browser. Text had issues and options were limited. I've also tried Firefox. Also seems to have text issues. I've been using Dolphin since I've moved on from ICS on other phones. It's been a good browser, but been looking for something better. At the moment I'm trying out UC Browser. So far I'm liking it.
What are you guys running? And what do you like about it?

I'm using HTC browser. It aligns text better then chrome.

stock and chrome ( only cuz its syncs with my home pc)

Wouldn't Chrome be considered the stock browser for our device?

Lol I almost said stock HTC browser. Glad I didn't.

well i've been using Opera Mini and Chrome with stock Samsung Browser.... (chrome is not my stock browser)
Opera Mini is the fastest browser..... but it lacks certsin usability on certain sites... like it wudnt let me download stuff from google drive... it wont even load the thing....

With Chrome, in portrait, seems like the text overlaps and some text is larger than other text, when it should all be the same. In Firefox, the text didn't overlap, but the fonts are different sizes. UC browser by default does that, but there is an option to disable that, that I didn't see in Chrome or FF.

I just use AOSP browser. It's better than the rest.
If you liked my post, please hit the "thanks" button.

I use Chrome as well, but yes, the text is garbled in portrait mode on many sites, including this one. It's annoying. I keep using because I like to keep my bookmarks in sync (yes, Firefox, I know).
Using the phone in landscape, the text is fine.

I'm really enjoying UC Browser. It's fast, has some good stuff built it too. Looks like you can sync bookmarks on the cloud or with Chrome, but requires a (looks to be free) UC account. Reviews I've read claim Dolphin is fast. After using that for the last year or 2, UC is faster.

Lightning browser. Fast, free, no spyware or boat cough cough dolphin

Chrome beta browser for chromecast support. Also just turn the phone sideways and then back and the text issues will go away. Just saying.

Dolphin Browser HD!

Just downloaded Dolphin Browser HD and it is freakin awesome. Try it out.
what is the difference?

lots its smoother
I personally don't get the hype of this dolphin browser. I find the default browser to be better than any others I have tried. There are a lot of new features in HD, which seem good in theory, but in the end it just seems like an overcrowded browser that does everything the stock one already does. Just my .02
thanks am gonna try it out
Just installed it.....really nice..."gestures" are really handy...
Best browser out there PERIOD.
Smooth. Options. Bells/whistles.
How does it stack up to Skyfire 2.0 Beta?
why does it zoom so far out when you go to a website? unlike the original. hate constantly pinching to zoom in everytime i go to a website. tried changing settings, nothing.

Changing the settings for me worked. Changed the view to close and haven't had to zoom at all and double tapping zooms also fyi.
I'm having similar issues, although, when it opens to home page(google) it's fine, but when I tap the text box for keyboard it zooms in. Then any site I pull up is zoomed way out......

You can go into the settings and change the default zoom or you can double tap on the location you want to zoom in on. This isn't a bug its more of a design decision

Wow... this is WAY better thank skyfire, sans the flash video support.
couple questions...
thanks for the heads up. i will give hd a try.
still frustrated that we dont have access to the vast majority of videos out there (not talking just about porn ). is this the same for most if not all smart phones? skyfire at least can play a few vids that all the other browsers cant.
i used dolphin for quite a while and have tried opera mini, skyfire and the stock browser (not bad) but so far xscope has stayed my primary for the longest. nice features and fairly quick.
cheers,
ryan
Never understood why dolphin gets so much love. It drives me crazy every time I try to use it. I have a touch screen phone so why design a browser that opens a gestures window every time I swipe my screen? I just don't get it. That and today after I installed it the thing became default browser without even asking me. That just pisses me off.

xScope is the best by far... Tried them all, always went back to stock browser until I tried xScope... Now that is all i use.
Its so hard losing the speed of opera but i like it

[APP] Is there a need for Dolphin Browser anymore?

I downloaded dolphin browser HD from the market last night to give it a try. I wanted to see if it would make the browsing even smoother and faster than it already is on frf91, or run flash better or something. I don't notice anything different. I understand that it has a lot of great features like gestures, tabs, add ons that the regular browser doesn't. But as far as just the performance of page loading or scrolling or anything, do you guys see any difference? What do you like about it?
Lol you answered it in your own post.. It's about the extra features it has
Right I was just wondering if people saw a performance increase in certain types of pages or something. Or if anyone was noticing speed increases.
I don't see any improvements whatsoever with speed. For Dolphin, I have a bunch of gestures set up that makes my lift a lot easier by having a shortcut to "select text".
I guess the only other thing that helps is the convenient access to wipe history and cache. You can also set it to private browsing mode so it never remembers history.
I like being able to exit/close the browser
I have noticed a few features that make Dolphin browser great.
First is the UAs (user agent settings) can be set to desktop client always. I hate going to about:debug every single time on the N1 stock browser. The MT3GS has a stock browser with UAs options in the stock settings. Not having that, after already having it in a stock browser is just annoying.
Downloading is much more efficient with Dolphin for me. I have been able to get everything posted on xda through rapidshare and others. If I am about to download something on my computer, I chrome to phone the link, and use dolphin to download it and astro to move it to the root.
Text clarity is much better on Dolphin. This was especially noticeable when reading text sites, like the news.
The flash player is on Demand, which is annoying when your first testing it out, but I have grown to love that feature. Especially when a lot of sites are fattened up with flash advertisements and useless widgets all over the place. News sites are the worst of all. Even when your in an EDGE only zone a news story should load fine, but an animated advertisement loading in the middle of the page will slow you down.
Downside. I can't seem to establish a secure connection when attempting to connect to a website using verisign to verify the secure connection. I don't know if it is the secure connection that isn't working or the verification? I emailed Dolphin, maybe they will tell me.
I use Dolphin primarily, but the great thing about Android is that you can run both of them, or either of them whenever you please. Getting the best of both worlds.
What I like the most is the simple refresh and stop button next to the address bar
I just wish it had a better theme...the theme tries to be too flashy and the additional themes are equally as gaudy...a simple stock browser theme (same tabs and buttons and whatnot but with the stock android theme styling) would be great...oh well.
Just so I know, dolphin browser uses the default webkit browser core, correct? And it just basically is like the default browser with different settings, UI, and "skin" overtop of the default browser.

Skyfire 2.1 has improved alot. Its fast, the multi touch is better than it was with 2.0, and its flash player works much better than before. I use this when browsing casually (not logging in anywhere.) Love to watch worldstarhiphop videos with it cause flash 10.1 performance sucks on that site.

i use xscope. although i like that dolphin has ability to sync bookmarks
Nope, stopped using Dolphin HD for a couple reasons:
1) It has tabs, which is awesome, but it's a little too complicated to reach them compared to the old dolphin. I liked being able to swipe down to bring down the bar.
2) It's buggy as hell. I've uninstalled and reinstalled it about three times now. Sometimes it doesn't register my clicks, sometimes it brings about the crazy screen problem, and sometimes it just doesn't try to load my pages.
I just wish the stock android browser had tabs implemented.
Xscope has 0 bugs and its fast
The ability for fullscreen mode. That's most important to me as I don't want the notification bar to waste space and to prevent further lcd screen burn in for my N1.
Although that feature is broken in the recent version but a fix is coming.

I do. Downloaded X-Scope and Dolphin the same day. There was something Dolphin did that I did not like, but can't remember what it was. But it was often enough it annoyed me. Never had an issue with X-Scope
Love xscope lite. Looks great, great features. many people don't know this but you can set up Flash to run automatically vs. "on demand"
I wasn't sure if all the browser improvements on 2.2 were just for the stock browser but doesn't seem anyone has noticed a difference in speed between stock and alternatives.

Not sure what you mean by text reflow, but I set it to "wide" in one of the settings and it made the xda forums look exactly the same as dolphin/stock browser.

Which browser do you like?

I installed Dolphin(again) at a friend's suggestion and found it to be too busy and although fast, not noticeably faster than the Evo's default browser. But now I wonder if I'm missing something? Does the Evo's browser suck that much? I have to admit, I hate that window limit but still, not enough to make me switch.

Hmm I have never tried any browser besides stock...gonna try dolphin HD but I have to say....the bookmark widget doesn't look promising
i've been pretty content with skyfire, i love the button that switches between android and desktop views. i haven't tried dolphin yet though.
I like Dolphin, but sometimes I perfer a simple and fast browser also known as xScope.
I really liked dolphin before it added the sidebar. I always end up activating the sidebar when I don't want it, and sometimes it breaks scrolling.
I started loading the AOSP browser from bugless beast on my phone and love it. It is just the stock browser like the N1, and it doesn't show previews of the windows, but it does allow 8 windows instead of 4.
Stock for me.

I use Dolphin HD even though it fails miserably at downloading things. I wish there was a fast, easy way to clear the browser defaults like there is with the launchers.
I use Dolphin HD the most due to its features but it has a tendency to sit around and not do anything after you click a link. You'll think you missed the click and then 10 seconds later, it'll wake up and decide to start loading the next page. No idea why it does this. Happens every so often.

Yes! this is exactly what bugs me. The stock browser doesn't do this. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Love Dolphin HD, except for that clicking problem, glad I'm not the only one. Tried Skyfire once and it seemed slow and clunky, pinch zoom was delayed, and didn't adjust text to wrap on the screen.
Xscope is great, fastest one I've tried and works just like chrome.
Yeah I love the stock browser's speed but it is seriously lacking features. I used to use Dolphin HD but the lag was horrible. Now I use the regular Dolphin Browser (NOT HD). This browser is fast (not quite as fast as the stock browser but much faster than the HD version) and has almost all the features of Dolphin HD. It's funny because they say Dolphin HD is optimized for 2.1 but the regular one is way faster.

Best Webbrowser for Android 4.4/ Nexus 5

As of Android 4 Google has changed the default Webrendering engine from the old AOSP one to the (bad) chromium engine. As a result my favorite Browser the stock AOSP isn't working properly anymore, here is a summery of the browsers I have tested and the problems I had with them:
Chrome: Slow, laggy and worst of all random font size changes within a website, no flash
AOSP Browser on 4.4: Double tap to zoom acting wierd, no textreflow, no browser history tab anymore, force closes, laggier then on Android 4.3 and no flash on 4.4
Dolphin Browser: Laggier compared to 4.3, pinch to zoom not working. No flash on 4.4.
Can you recommend any Browsers that work well with 4.4.
I use Firefox at the moment... Works really good

Have you all even tried Chrome? On my N5 there is no lag whatsoever, I am really impressed with the speed. At first I was so like "oh no" but gave it a try and I think Google did it right.
NEXT Browser kills the top of the page where the address bar lies over it, that is a no go.

I don't get why people dont just use chrome. I have been using it on many devices and I find it to consistently be the smoothest and fastest and best looking browser.
I'm satisfied with Chrome Beta.
I have to admit, I've always used the AOSP broswer but Chrome has been performing pretty well so far on my Nexus 5. the only thing I really miss right now is Flash support.
I've used Naked on my N7 for a year or so, and works just as fast (faster) on my N5.
Chrome definitely isn't as fluid on the N5 as could be. Which is a real shame because it seems almost out of place, everything else on the N5 is silky smooth, then you open the browser, scroll around and pinch zoom. It feels a little choppy, like everything else is operating at 60fps but the browser is at 15-20fps is the best example I could give.
For those who say it's smooth, go browse the web on an iPhone 5 with Safari or the stock browser on an LG G2. I've used many phones and those two stand out to me as being the absolute benchmark in smoothness.
I think Dophin with Jetpack will be the best browser for the N5 once it becomes fully compatible.
Next browser is also awesome but like someone already stated, the top part of web pages are hidden an cannot be accessed. Probably not fully Kit Kat compatible yet.

Chrome beta is usable..... The other one is crap and...in general any other browser is miles away from AOSP browser

A browser just as smooth as safari (iOS) internet explorer (windows phone )

I'm so disappointed by chrome , I've been using it for quite a while ,it was unusable on my galaxy nexus ,then it got almost OK on the nexus 4 and now I have my nexus 5 and the performance is still poor , the scrolling is not smooth , its choppy ,sometimes the websites stop responding , the app feels ... Heavy
Ive been using Firefox for a few months and although the scrolling is noticeably better than chrome's it still has its issues , sometimes the text looks blurry and until it fixes itself you can't click on links on the browser , I attached a picture so you guys can see , pay attention to the "next page"button (on the bottom with the rest background ) ,it became unclickable , Firefox crashes sometimes too .
To make things even worse the aosp browser which performance was light years ahead of Chrome's now shares Chrome's poor performance because Google made some changes and now it uses the chromium engine
I don't know what to do ,I become so upset when I use the browser on iOS /windows phone , I love kit Kat but seriously Google make chrome on android just as good as chrome on desktop :banghead:

I'm giving chrome beta a chance , maybe it's placebo effect but I feel it is a bit more responsive than the stable version , something I don't understand is why does the browser refreshes every time I switch to another app and then come back to the browser , it doesn't even remember my scrolling position ,very annoying , I don't understand 2 GB should be enough to keep the browser in memory :/
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Use Next browser, been using it since I got the Nexus, works really well and the start screen looks really professional, you can open it up and google search something straight away, really handy
Try Dolphin
I have tried various browsers including Chrome, Opera, Opera Mini, and Maxthon, but settled on Dolphin on my One S and, now that they've fixed some KitKat bugs, on the Nexus 5.
Dolphin is fast and smooth (ver. 10.2.1) although the UI is a bit awkward. Not as bad as Chrome's though. Unfortunately Dolphin doesn't even have a way to import bookmarks from other Dolphins on the same device. Nevertheless, it does seem very good, and much better than Chrome.

UPDATE: I take it all back; I accepted an update for Jetpack and now none of the Dolphin browsers I have--Dolphin, Dolphin Beta, Jetpack--will play html or flash videos. I am trying UC Browser which is really fast, even compared to Dolphin, but doesn't seem to respond automatically to links from other apps--e.g., google's gmail app or the google search app that came on the N5; you have to copy and paste the url manually into the browser. Obviously unacceptable.
