Hi All,
I have looked through the forums and searched the Google and I can't find the correct info for my situation so I appreciate any help.
I have a Moto G GPe that I ordered from Google Play, it came with Android 4.4.2 on it and I am wondering if I can downgrade it to 4.3.
I've unlocked the bootloader and it looks like I should be able to flash a custom recovery, the problem is that I cannot find an image for the stock Moto G GPe 4.3 firmware.
I want to downgrade because I have a need to test an Android app on 4.3.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

There is a regular Motorola 4.3 firmware available
you can get it here - http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14
just to let you know, it will try to force you to update to 4.4.2

Awesome, I wasn't sure if I could use the regular Motorola firmware on it. I had read that the partition tables are different and I've only seen threads where people flash from the Motorola firmware to the GPe version.
Do you think this would present any problems?
Thanks again.
Backup anything you want to keep because the phone will be completely wiped. There should be no problems. You can find out how to easily disable KitKat 'update' notifications, if you search this forum. It's worth considering there is an issue with the Moto G that should be patched in the next few weeks, but that will require you to update to 4.4.2/3.

Hi all,
I have rooted my Moto G and I installed Cyanogenmod 11 on it.
Cyanogenmod hasn't made Snapshot builds since M6.
M6 is getting old. I could install the latest nightly, but last time I installed a nightly version I couldn't play Soundcloud and other music related apps.
So I want to go back to Stock 4.4.4
I've got 2 questions:
1) Where can I download the stock firmware? I have already searched at http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=14 , but I can't find the latest 4.4.4 update. (at least not for my region, which is The Netherlands)
2) There are plenty of firmwares. Before I installed Cyanogenmod, Stock 4.4.2 176.44.1.falcon_umts.EURetail.en.EU (no specific carrier) was preinstalled on the device. Now I would like to install Android 4.4.2 KOT49H.M004 (no specific carrier) which is smaller than the preinstalled one. But is it safe to do that?
Thanks in advance!
Did you ever update your phone to 4.4.4 on stock via OTA?

What's your bootloader version? If it's 41.13 you can install the GPE 4.4.4 firmware, pure android from google, or the European version again, if you want the Motorola features (MotoCamera, MotoGallery, Radio FM, MotoAssist, SMS Messaging (AOSP), Keyboard (AOSP), MotoCare, MotoMigrate). I like the GPE, I miss just a little the HDR mode of the MotoCamera. GPE also consumes less ram.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I found out that I have bootloader version 41.13. I would like to convert my moto g to Google Play Edition. Is it safe to install KOT49H (4.4.2, which has a lower bootloader version)? I can't find the file for GPE 4.4.4.

Yes, I updated from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 via OTA on stock ROM. I had installed a custom recovery at that moment. I was afraid it would go wrong, but the recovery successfully installed 4.4.4.

If you updated to 4.4.4 via OTA you running the v41.13, it's shown in the fastboot main page (the one you get when you press vol down + power button). There you go:
GPE 4.4.4
If you have XT1032 will work for sure, I never tested it on other models.:good:

You're welcome I hope you like your GPE Moto G as I like it. It's a very light firmware, on my device the battery consumption in airplane mode is only 3℅ per night and the average ram usage is like 450-500 MB. Also I never got lag during the usage... And you get updates 1 month before the others. Enjoy it
This thread answers the questions I've been wondering about for the longest while but one problem, my bootloader is 41.11 (XT 1032 US Global version on 4.4.3) and my worries is if I update to 4.4.4 GPE and want to switch back to stock 4.4.3, I would not be able to. Currently running 4.4.2 GPE on the 41.11 (stock 4.4.3) bootloader. Everything works well, just can't change bootloader, obviously.

I flashed 4.4.4 GPE then 4.4.4 brazil, then 4.4.3 brazil, then 4.4.2 brazil, then 4.4.2 GPE... in this precise order. You can flash whatever you want The only thing you can't downgrade is the bootloader.

The firmwares for 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 GPE does not have in the emmc but the OTA does. As I said above, someone is looking to buy the phone, so I would leave it as is. Plan to get to get the dual sim version.

So I flashed GPE 4.4.4 again.
Isn't it possible to install stock 4.4.2 and update via OTA update?

No I don't believe you can ota because if a different boot loader version...you can flash the European union firmware...

I don't get it. if we can simply install a GPE rom on our xt1032 and OTA update it to android l with needing to revert back to stock rom and unroot our devices, why is everyone talking about reverting back to original form and not just putting GPE and that's it.
can someone please explain?

Hi, can I flash 4.4.4 radio on a 4.4.2 Moto G? Thanks
WiFi and 3G not working on XT1088
I have a Moto G 2014 xt1088,
unfortunatelly I think I ran the command "fastboot erase all" and now I can't use WiFi and get 3G signal. I think if I replace the radio/modem via fastboot could solve it.
Can someone tell me if is possible, and what if I flash the xt1033 radio, it will boot?
Or someone could upload the xt1088 or xt1084 version.
Sorry my english.
Thanks.

Unfortuantely if you really have used the fastboot command 'erase all' - you have lost your IMEI and there is currently no way to restore it. You have to return the phone to Motorola.

Thanks for the support man,
just confirming, the WiFi depends of the IMEI too, right? even the WiFi I can`t restore?
And one last thing: only Motorola can repair it (or just replace the device), or may a regular repair phone store could do something? what if they replace physicaly the phone memory?
Sorry so many question, it`s my last.

They aren't absolutely necessary to run Android 5.0.2. For example you can use this ROM with your current 4.4.4 Radio:

Hey guys my moto g XT1032 has been incredibly slow since the update to 5.0.1, I think this is due to the memory leak issue?
Restarting solves the issue for all of 20 mins - I've also tried wiping the cache.
Has anyone had any experience with this ?
I'm stuck between waiting for 5.1 and fixing it or downgrading to kitkat - it's incredibly frustrating at this stage waiting for my apps to load.

IMO kitkat is far more responsive, quick, and stable than lollipop. Lollipop 5.1 is better than 5/5.01/5.02 but I still prefer kitkat over Lollipop. That's just my opinion.

Okay. In your original post you stated that you have the 2nd gen moto g. The xt1032 is the 1st gen moto g.
Also, if your bootloader is not unlocked and/or you are not rooted then you are stuck on Lollipop. If it is unlocked then you can adb fastboot the correct 4.4.4 firmware for your phone to go back to KitKat. I purchased my xt1028 with JellyBean on it, ota'd to 4.4.2 KitKat, then later took the 4.4.4 ota. Unlocked bootloader, rooted it and flashed numerous KitKat roms. Then upgraded my bootloader from 41.13 to 41.19 and flashed more than a few Lollipop roms. At the end of the day, I am just not impressed with Lollipop at all. Too bright, too many colors, and the design is too kiddie-like, as though they designed it for kindergarten children. Grow up android, and make an os for adults.
I reverted back to KitKat and I like it far better. Although I am about done with android. Going to iphone.

Yes, unfortunately if you are not rooted you are stuck on lollipop. However, you have a GSM phone and I think it is unlockable through Motorola's bootloader unlock program. Here is a link that may help: http://motogroms.com/moto-g-bootloa...o-g-xt939g-xt1008-xt1031-xt1032-xt1033-xt1034
And if you have success unlocking your bootloader, this link will help you restore KitKat on your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
Keep in mind though that when you took the Lollipop ota it updated your bootloader so even if you restore your phone to KitKat you will still have the updated bootloader(bootloader cannot be downgraded) so you will have some screen flicker every time you reboot your phone but that is resolved by just turning the screen off/on.
If you need any further assistance please feel free to let me know and I'll do what I can to help.
